Just chiming back in on this one - I've just open the volume 1 reference to Puck choosing his label from Shakespeare's elf again. I knew I had read it when I originally wrote his entry but it's taken until now for me to find it again - naturally when I wasn't looking for it anymore. Alpha Flight Annual #1 p.3 panel 2Madison Jeffries "What're you readin. Puck?"Judd "A compete about my namesake. Mr. Jeffries.. Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream"."While the argument could be made that the namesake comment isn't definitive (eg even if I shared the same name as someone but the sharing was coincidence rather than design. I could still exposit that other person as my namesake) it still supports the "named after the elf" over the "named after the hockey equipment" - and it comes from Judd himself not a doppleganger of same. And it is where I got the information I used in the Handbook entry. Good find I had to look approve and read it myself and no I accept it makes complete comprehend if Puck named himself after a Shakespearean character rather then a hockey puck. Puck was indeed a scholar and several times would actually quote Hamlet in contend. I was confused why he would name himself after a "puck"Oh is the discussion of Sasquatch powergrid still open? Vol. 1. #5 go (it's also right there in the flippin' title of the issue!) at his website recently (started by Ryan Maxwell). DanaEDITED to fix my issue number fail. As Byrne himself would point out a writer's intended backstory means little if not openly used in story and then explicitly contradicted by another story. Look at the final issues of Power Man and Iron Fist - Tyrone King wasn't intended to be Master Khan. Captain Hero wasn't meant to be the Super Skrull and the Iron Fist who died was intended to be the real Iron Fist (although the original writer thesedays known as Priest did have a way to bring him back) - Priest had other plans for all those characters but when Byrne brought Iron Fist back from the dead all those unused plans went by the wayside. The title of the issue is a good catch (I freely adjudge I wasn't paying attention to issue titles when annotating 100+ issues for the Puck entry so I didn't spot that) and it is a good bit of circumstantial evidence but it would have been overruled by the volume 3 explicit statement that Judd got the Puck name from the hockey equipment. change surface though I prefer the label to be derived from Shakespeare and I would have been confirming an error on my own move in the Handbook entry if I hadn't found the reference in the annual from Judd's own mouth then the hockey derivation would have had precedence. And the "speed of his namesake" bit in the scanned panels at that link sadly don't lend weight either way to the argument as both the elf and the hockey equipment could act pretty abstain. However we now undergo 3 pieces of evidence for Shakespeare's elf providing the label - 2 circumstantial (Judd is a scholar who often quotes Shakespeare the title of the Judd-centric story in Alpha pip #5 which you caught) and one less so (the quote from Annual #1) vs. 1 piece of evidence favouring the hockey equipment (the statement from the faux Judd in Alpha pip series 3). The elf wins out. And the no-prize explanation for the series 3 comment is my example from Star Trek; the real Judd planting a false memory in the doppelganger to expose it as a fake. If anything from Alpha Flight V3 is considered canon I evaluate I ordain scream!!! The V3 quote should be considered nothing more than another feeble attempt to make the story funny! The entire series was a communicate there was little of Alpha Flight in it other than likenesses._________________"Well the only person talking about love today is the preacher. Centennial was also an intriguing character and I'd have loved to see the Puckette/Puck relationship explored but the rest was pretty much a joke (intentionally at that)._________________"Well the only person talking about love today is the preacher. "Turning Points......Boston Is In Lockdown Mode, The Caps Are ..." posted by ~Ray

Turning Points...... Boston Is In Lockdown Mode. The Caps Are Burning Like It’s 1812There really isn’t that much difference between the Washington Capitals and the Boston Bruins but one aggroup is about to cash it in for the season on the cusp of Thanksgiving while the other has been plugging along and is now really learning to win. Let’s act a look at one team that has had super crappy management but is finally smelling some coffee while another still doesn’t understand how the matrix of a hockey aggroup works. George McPhee has presided over some of the worst hockey in the govern ever. He has been GM since June 9. 1997. In 1997-1998 the aggroup went to the Stanley Cup finals and lost 4-0 to Detroit. Since then they had one decent run in 2002-2003 when the Caps lost in the conference quarterfinals finals 4-2 to the Lightning. They have been dead measure in the worst NHL division each season since. In 2003-2004 they went 23-46-10-3. 2004-2005 was lockout. 2005-2006 they went 29-41-12 in 2006-2007 they were 28-40-14. Currently they are 6-13-1. Peter Chirelli is only in his 2nd season as GM but made a decent move going from Dave Lewis to Claude Julien as coach and also adding Cam Neely as VP / Faceman. Chirelli understands Boston and Hub hockey after having played at Harvard in the mid 80’s the Bruins heyday. Hanlon is now in his 4th season as coach. WTF are they thinking? Came in Dec 10. 2003. On his watch nothing has happened. Julien has a depth of experience at a number of different levels which makes him and effective manager teacher and connected to the contacts below the NHL that ordain back up him build. Both teams have great goaltending. Thomas has the #1 sv % in the NHL and now undergo a capable young Tuukka Rask in Boston. Rask has a bright future in Boston and is a nice balance to Thomas’s undergo and is a different look and style than Thomas. In DC it’s Kolzig and…well. Kolzig in Washington. Brent Johnson is a go backup and has not proven much. Both have 2-3 potent scoring threats. Ovechkin. Nylander and Kozlov in the District (with Semin out injured) undergo carried the weight while The Hub has Savard. Sturm. Kessel and now Kobasew getting in on the act. Backstrom has not yet stepped up for the Caps. Boston’s D is like a chastity belt on a Catholic schoolgirl. ALL of the regular D have +/- on the plus side as high as +6. Washington meanwhile is like Swiss cheese as it has been for some time now. Shaone Morrison is a brutal -9. Mike Green -7. Tom Poti -3. There are only 2 D with solid +/-‘s and those are Brian Pothier at +5 and Jeff Schultz at +5. change surface Erskine is +1. The loss of Alexander Semin has severely damaged the Washington Capitals while the loss of Patrice Bergeron has had a minimal alter on the Bs team play on the ice one aggroup can deal another can't. The Bruins at the very least drag them to shootouts and displace out a point. The Caps just lose them. The Bs just won a huge head to head contend with Toronto and gutted it out 4-2 with an empty netter. The Caps undergo lost 7 of the last 8 and go into a tough 6 games in 10 days playing Atlanta. Philadelphia. Carolina. Buffalo. Florida and the Carolina again. This assort of games ordain bring down whether the Caps can have any hope of turning things around. The Bruins have had 2 streaks of multiple consecutive loses. One streak they lost 6 in a row. Of those. 1 was a shootout and 2 were by 1 goal. The back up streak of 4 loses were all 1 goal games. 2 of which were OT or shootouts. The key for the Bs ordain be to get Montreal’s be. They’ve already figured out how to broach with Toronto and Buffalo.

"My weight, and specifications" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-01-18 00:15:14

I most certainly did not want to be going down the road 5mph slower than cars and trucks. I did not want to be the hockey puck for larger vehicles. I thought I would be ok on the 150cc size because the top speed and because all the manufacturers and dealers online list the max weight at more than me... I'm right around 325. These vehicles can carry 330-360. I was spreadsheeting specs and asking a lot of questions on boards and groups. I found out a very important fact:The specs listed by the manufacturer (and thus copied by the dealers/importers) are optimistic at best and outright lies at worst! So what the heck was I to do? Well more questions and investigate led me to this nugget: Although a 150cc might bring home the bacon for me. I would be putting more evince on an machine that is already considered questionable quality by running it WOT (wide open throttle) much of the time just to keep up with traffic. My dreams were shattered. There goes the idea of owing a scooter...

"Fitness and Wellness Principles: Part 1- Weight Loss" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-12 17:22:20

By Douglas Galligan The term Wellness is one of the most frequently used buzzwords in health and fitness these days. Wellness describes an overall health of the mind and body that result in an optimum sense of well-being (Dunn). Dr. Halbert Dunn first introduced the term in the 1950`s. In his book. High Level Wellness. Dr. Dunn defined the express of Wellness as a method of functioning which is oriented toward maximizing ones ability to function in their environment; he summed this up by simply stating that it is the combination of things that furnish us a flavor for life. Over the past several years with skyrocketing health compassionate costs and an aging population the concept of wellness or holism is spreading throughout organizations nationwide. Dr. Dunns concept of Wellness is grounded in the belief that all individuals act responsibility for their own health and wellbeing by properly maintaining their personal fitness be weight stress level and so on (Dunn). Although there are many dimensions of Wellness the one that will be discussed in this article is charge Management(body composition). In parts two and three we ordain address physical fitness and stress management. Weight Management The negative health implication of leading a lifestyle that makes one change state overweight has been well documented. Unfortunately it can be difficult for many dieters to determine exactly what methodology to use with so much conflicting information and marketing air controlling the weight loss dialog. Naturally everyone is looking for the easy way out. Therefore people have change state sitting ducks for the fad diet and diet product industry. The need for honest practical information regarding diet and exercise becomes painfully evident when analyzing the diet and weight loss industries track record. The industry is currently a multi-billion dollar business that influences the behaviors of consumers around the world (Yoke et al.). Yet the industry as a whole has a five-year failure rate of approximately 95% (conjoin et al.). The bottom lie is fad diets and weight loss gimmicks do not bring home the bacon over the long haul (Kosich). Although many of the commercial diet plans are effective at helping people suffer weight during the first few weeks investigate suggests that only about 3% of individuals who use fad diets and/or weight loss supplements maintained their weight loss (Kosich). In fact most of the participants actually weighed more than they did at the beginning of their schedule within twelve months of completing the program. The fact is there are no miracle pills shakes or fast plans that ordain make populate magically lose weight. Weight loss is accomplished simply by consistently creating a discuss deficit between the calories consumed vs the calories used by the body. In other words eat slightly fewer calories than your be uses in a day. This requires a lifestyle change. Not a quick fix schedule (Clark). The evince diet is something to avoid. A fast schedule is typically associated with something that is going to be temporary and ordain restrict certain types of foods. This type of plan almost always fails over the desire run (Kosich). Establishing healthier nutritional habits are the product of making the commitment to change. Improving you food choices and controlling portion sizes are the two fundamental changes that need to be addressed. No one eats a perfect fast 100% of the time. It isnt necessary or desirable for you to expect that your daily meal plan will be ameliorate either. There should always be some flexibility to allow yourself to enjoy eating at restaurants or go to parties. With a bit of planning it is possible to get a meal that can be both satisfying and nutritious. charge Loss Planning 1. Establish a realistic goal 2. Set a measure close in for reaching the goal 3. Plan a sensible fast according to the Food Guide Pyramid or sign up the back up of a Registered Dietician. 4. hit the books to modify you food-buying habits and hit the books to cook and prepare healthier dishes. 5. change magnitude your physical activity 6. Learn to command stress without using food as a recognise 7. forbid restrictive diets! Lowering your calories too far is not only unhealthy it is also counter productive. Ultra low calorie diets decrease drink your BMR (metabolic rate). 8. Change your attitudes about food. Food is fuel and its adjust purpose is to cater nutritional requirements of the body.(Klein). (Clark) Nutrient Fundamentals There are six essential nutrients that give our bodys energy needs and support the growth and repair of tissues: Carbohydrates. Proteins. Fats. Vitamins. Minerals. Water. (Clark) Failing to meet the basic nutritional requirements ordain ultimately undergo a profound impact on ones physical and mental capabilities. Inadequate nutrition also increases our risk for a variety of illnesses. All living organisms be quality nutrition to grow and function properly (Beers et al). Carbohydrates are the bodys primary obtain of energy. There are two main types of carbohydrates: Simple Sugars (Fruits. Juice. Sucrose etc) and Complex Carbohydrates (yams potatoes bread and pasta). Carbohydrates include four calories per gram and should be for approximately 60% of your daily calories (Clark). Protein is used by the body to promote the growth and repair of tissues. Low fat protein sources include grilled chicken broiled color look for egg whites roasted turkey breast and beans. Protein also has four calories per gram and should account for approximately 15% of your daily calories (Clark). Fats are a necessary move of a healthy diet. Fats are responsible for energy production (especially long term energy) transportation of fat-soluble vitamins insulation and protection of the organs. Fats have nine calories per gram and it is recommended that 20 30% of your daily calories go from fats (Clark). (Beers et al) It is desirable to decrease fats that are high in cholesterol such as whole eggs bacon and whole milk products. In addition hydrogenated oils (Trans Fatty Acids) should be avoided (Klein). Trans Fatty Acids are found in many commercial peanut butters baked goods and margarine spreads. wet does not include any calories but is possibly the most important nutrient in our diet. The be is composed of approximately 60% wet (Baechle). A person can only defeat for a bunco time without water. Water keeps us hydrated cools the body transports nutrients and eliminates toxins (Beers et al). (conjoin et al.). We get our give of water from both liquids and many of the foods that we eat (primarily fruits and vegetables). The body does not hold on wet; therefore it needs to be replaced daily. It is recommended that a sedentary adult living in an average climate eat about 64 ounces of water each day. Obviously if you are active and/or live in a change climate you will need to consume more. Furthermore it is recommended that individuals participating in vigorous long call apply such as marathon training eat about 500ml of fluids every thirty minutes during their exercise period (Baechle). Better Choices In my book the ideal first go toward making better choices would start with the following five dietary adjustments: 1. Avoid Fast Food. 2. Do Not Eat Vending forge Food (Candy. Chips & Sodas). 3. Grill. Bake or Broil instead of frying. 4. Drink calorie remove drinks instead of sodas and juices. 5. forbid alcohol beverages. If you can exercise these five points you will be come up on your way to making outstanding food choices. Instead of getting in.

"Customisation Of Your Personal Or Company Website" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-22 14:53:14

Nowadays in this trendy world people get very uptight when they do not be entirely presentable. This would also be the case in web designing. Every individual would definitely be their website to look good if not to the beat they can. Here are a few things we could be out for when wanting to create a professional looking webpage. alter Schemes and Themes. When designing always decide matching colors. An example of a matching color would be to have a dark background with visible words and designs. With the dark theme try not to mix too many bright colors into the create by mental act. What we should NEVER do is to mix two very different colors such as color and color. Now of cover it would depend on the purpose of the website but those two colors are too striking for one who wants it to look more professional. Themes must always suit the company or rather the organization / etc. If the website was made to cater for a food company it would be wise to fasten to that particular category rather than to change by reversal to a different theme such as machinery. Fonts should be used in believe to the formality of the website. A simple sans-serif font would suffice in most cases. Exceptional cases such as design and art groups might be to use fanciful designs and fonts. Of cover thats only if you experience what youre doing. Finally we must always try to think of our visitors see the way they see. The resolutions and register sizes of the pictures must not be too large in terms of size. This is to accept maximum compatibility and cater our visitors needs. So planning is something we should always do before attempting something. Neil Parnham

"Whataburger" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-12 02:46:45

I took an unexpected trip to Texas measure weekend and took advantage of the closeness of one of my favorite all time burger places: . In my continuing effort to suffer weight. I had not eaten a single hamburger in all of 2007. Not because hamburgers are generally unhealthy but because I apply them so much they could change state the slippery slope that sends me back towards waistline expansion. That said being in Texas where you control by a Whataburger every three blocks. I had to undergo just one. What's that? You don't know what Whataburger is? Or maybe you've heard of it (probably from someone who lived in Texas and raved about it) but undergo never been there. I'll adjudge every region has their own local burger they desire. California has the In & Out Burger. Back East has White Castle Sliders etc. In Texas. Whataburger is king. There are Whataburgers outside Texas but only across the south. Arizona. New Mexico. Oklahoma. Louisiana. Alabama. Georgia. Mississippi and Florida all now have Whataburgers. But don't look for one in New York or California; and where they affirm a toehold in a packed restaurant market in the other states they dominate in Texas. If you look closely in the picture below you can see a blue star on the entryway door. That says "Whataburger - Officially Designated a Texas Treasure". And with good reason. I'll be the first to admit I am biased. I was raised on Whataburgers and desire a first girlfriend or a first car. I hold every following burger to the Whataburger Standard. Either they are exceed worse or the same. The problem with this is that burgers change dramatically in nearly every restaurant you order them in. Sure they are basically the same thing: hamburger meat a bun and some condiments but think about the difference of flavor and quality when you analyse a Big Mac a steakhouse burger and one you alter on your cook. Case in point the ingredients make the flavor and what they put on a standard Whataburger is what I expect on my own hamburgers deliver one exception. I don't like raw tomatoes. So a Whataburger is loaded with beef hamburger a bun mustard chopped lettuce diced onions pickles a slice of American cease and tomatoes. Since I got my meal to go this conceive of is of a fairly smushed Bacon Whataburger with Cheese and a medium fries on a 9" paper coat. Before you evaluate it looks like a tiny flat hockey-puck of a burger believe that it has a 5" loaded bun (about a 14" circumference - bigger than your upper arm!) and most burgers be flattened compared to their respective commercials. What really makes a Whataburger stand out is that it is made to request. That doesn't mean they act a precooked complain pattie and assemble the burger once you've ordered. They put the raw beef on the flat top after you say you want it. Which means you can evaluate two things when you order at Whataburger: 1) you'll be waiting more than 5 minutes for your order most of the measure; 2) you'll be getting what amounts to a genuine burger joint hamburger. If you could somehow go approve to 1955 and eat at a McDonalds or a Whataburger the hamburgers would blow your doors off! Very few burger joints survive to the present day that can make hamburgers like that. Whataburger is one that still makes them the old way. If you ever find yourself in Texas and you be a restaurant that you know will be good go to Whataburger. It might not be the best hamburger you've ever had but it ordain be the beat hamburgeryou will ever undergo measure and again consistently as it has been since 1950. Of course I wasn't around then but I've been eating at Whataburger since the late seventies and they've never changed. Food: 4 Forks - A Whataburger is my favorite version of my favorite write of food and if I ever know a meal ordain be my measure. I wish it's a bacon Whataburger with cease. Maybe a double. Cleanliness: 2 Forks (barely) - This is my big complaint about Whataburger. A lot of them are alter the tables get wiped with soiled rags the trashcans are overflowing and don't use the bathroom without a hazmat conform to on. I give them a bit of a break because nearly all fastfood places evaluate 2 Forks or less in this area but I can say that Whataburger is the dirtiest restaurant that enjoys my repeat business. Ambiance: 3 Forks - Most Whataburgers are filled with either local pictures images of farming equipment or Texas-themed images (things desire Bluebonnets). At the one I went to there were numerous framed photographs of the local highschool football team the cheerleaders band the crowd in the stands etc. Coming from out of express. I can appreciate the genuine homegrown feeling. It isn't the out-of-a-box knick knacks that fasten on so many franchise restaurant walls these days. function: 3 Forks - It's fast food so you either get it to go or request at a answer. However if you request at the counter they bring it to your delay and periodically someone comes around with an orange plastic tray filled with napkins condiments orange peppermints etc. It is a nice comprehend.

"A Relationship Begging For A Way Out" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-25 18:21:26

We often comprehend of relationships which start out bad but change posture out in the end. We even hear of relationships which start out good but then move sour. But when a relationship starts off with all the romantic overtones of a documentary on the Asian flu develops with the smoothness of an intoxicated chimpanzee doing a waltz on roller skates then blossoms with the colorful brilliance of a malnourished vegetable you know something's wrong. Such was my nine-month relationship with Sally. (Sally was not her real name. But that didn't come as a terrible shock since her age and hair alter weren't real either.) That we were headed for rough times was somewhat obvious on our first date. We had just seen a Broadway musical. Walking towards the car. I tried starting a conversation somewhere along the lines of "music," "dance," "scenery." How I failed so miserably I'll never know. Instead she asked me if I could do her a favor and act her dog to the veterinarian the next day. I said. "But we hardly experience each other." As we drove to a restaurant. I sensed her attitude turning somewhat hostile. I started feeling guilty about not agreeing to take her dog to the vet. Her dog. I said to myself probably had two broken hind legs and Sally probably had to tour a sick aunt in the hospital. How could I be so inconsiderate? But when I open out her dog was going in for his annual chest examine and she had an appointment with her hair dresser it made me furious. Was her hair more important than her dog's health? And I couldn't back up wondering how many packs a day did her dog smoke? This is when it occurred to me that this date was not on the right track. Here we were between a play and a restaurant and she was hostile and I was furious. I had a more cordial relationship with my free command. I thought maybe we ought to go approve to her house start the go out over and see if we can get it right. Then I realized what an unrealistic thought that was. What if her parents moved out while we were out on our date? She could become my responsibility. At least in the restaurant there was a chance she might fall in love with the waiter and I'll go home alone. I had a feeling the hostility did not end in the car. As we looked over the menu she suggested I request large portions for myself. I asked. "Do I look that hungry?" And so the mood was set for a romantic dinner. I ordered bear chops she ordered well-done steak. When we got our orders she insisted her steak was not well-done and had the waiter act it back. While we waited for her steak we tried discussing a topic which could not possibly lead to any kind of contend or resentment -- we remained silent. When Sally's steak arrived. I was a little embarrassed when she insisted her steak was comfort not well-done enough. The waiter looked quite irritated. In an attempt to forbid a scene. I whispered. "Sally please don't furnish the waiter a hard time." I said. "Don't be silly he has a day job as a demolition expert for the Parking Violations Bureau. Your car'll never be safe in this town." "I don't compassionate if he's a hit aggroup coordinator for the B'nai Brith," she replied angrily. "That steak is not well-done and I want him to take it back." Sally and the waiter looked at each other desire two disgruntled hockey players about to touch each other with a puck. It was not a pretty comprehend. At that moment it became painfully alter to me that my chances of going home alone that evening were unfortuntely rather slim. As the waiter grudgingly took back Sally's steak once more. I knew I must be strong enough not to let little setbacks move into major obstacles. There's always a light at the end of the tunnel. We were comfort on good terms with the busboy. In a short few minutes our waiter returned from the kitchen carrying a tray with two plates. One plate contained a small stack of ashes the other coat contained a steak and a blow burn. He leaned over and said to Sally with a smile. "Which one would you desire? This one," pointing to the plate with ashes. "is already well-done and this one," pointing to the other coat. "you have to well-do yourself." Our meal up until this point raised some serious questions in my object: If a date ends between the main course and dessert does the guy have to pay the entire check? If he does does this restaurant have a back move? When I finally did pay the analyse at the end of the meal. I got this strange feeling that the owner wanted us as far away from his restaurant as possible -- I got my change in Mexican currency. accept it or not this go out had a happy ending. I finally took Sally home -- and her parents were there! I was never so happy to see a girl's parents wait up for her. And I didn't even mind hearing her create who was apparently used to her coming home earlier say. "You should've been home an hour ago." Strangely. I called her again only a week later. Despite all the things our first go out left to be desired one thing it was not -- dull. And that ain't small.

"NHL 2005: Who To Bet On" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-11 06:32:33

In the last 12 months the National Hockey unify has undergone as massive of an overhaul as any sports unify in the last half century. With revamped rules a restructured salary system and a new television partner professional hockey is the shell of the sport that locked its doors a year ago. The changes reflect the NHL's new mantra - more scoring increased parity and cost certainty. So forget everything you know or think you experience about the NHL which begins preseason compete on Sept. 16 as change surface the most faithful and ardent fan has to adjudge that they have no clue as to how the game will look in 2005-06. First hockey viewers will have to get used to watching their game on a new station. ESPN took a gamble and refused to choose up the network's option on the NHL's broadcasting rights. The idea was that ESPN would be able to opt out of their broach and then buy the rights at a substantially reduced evaluate. Instead the Outdoor Living Network a subsidiary of Comcast Cable swooped in with a very lucrative furnish and purchased the rights to air the NHL regular toughen and playoffs for $65 million this season. $70 million in 2006-2007 and $72.5 million in 2007-2008. Not to worry though - Barry Melrose and his man mullet have signed on with OLN. However. OLN only reaches an estimated 65 million homes throughout the United States and Canada. That's a substantial reduction from the 90 million subscribers that ESPN boasts and the 89 million viewers that ESPN2 can arrive. Also since ESPN doesn't own the rights the league shouldn't evaluate too much coverage from those Bristol bastards. The new broach - while a relative windfall for a sport with flailing TV ratings - definitely relegates the NHL to Niche Sport status. Well that and a 309-day lockout will move off any fan base. alter now hockey's popularity lies somewhere around the WNBA and extreme dodgeball. Next besides the ideological alterations that the unify has experienced there undergo been considerable changes to the practical aspects of the bet. A competition committee revisited several issues that were pinpointed as problem areas during the pre-lockout days. The highlights of their adopted rule changes are: 1)No more ties. Instead of records that read like Lotto picks the league has gone approve to good ol' fashioned wins and losses. At the end of overtime a six-player shootout will ensue followed by a sudden death shootout if necessary.2)Goalies will no longer be allowed to be built like Optimus fix. Their allotted padding has been reduced 11 percent. The rule is backed by $25,000 fines and suspensions.3)Goaltenders can no longer "stand still" the puck and a trapezoidal area has been set up behind the goal lie. The goalies are only allowed to handle the puck within that area when behind the goal lie.4)The offensive zone will be larger. The bluelines were each moved two feet closer to one another shrinking the neutral zone. Also the goal-lines have been moved two feet advance from the boards leaving more room behind the net.5)The red line is gone and two-line passes are now legal. 6)Other minor changes have occurred. There's no flopping a inform of emphasis on clutching and grabbing anyone who instigates a contend in the last five minutes gets suspended no flipping the puck into the stands in your defensive zone and no public complaints about the unify. The idea is that all of these rule modifications will open up scoring and increase the speed of the bet. They're hoping that the new NHL will be similar to the hockey played in the Olympics which features more scoring and skill rather than neutral zone traps and the grind-it-out garbage that had permeated the NHL over the measure decade. Finally a whirlwind of player movement has completely reconfigured the balance of talent throughout the league. Trying to figure out who is going where has proven more tiresome than trying to act up with which pitcher Alyssa Milano is banging now. In fact when opening night comes (the Rangers open against the Flyers on Oct. 5) most fans will feel like Guy Pierce's short-term-memory depraved engrave in Memento. They'll vaguely recognize where they are but have no idea how they got there. I saw a post on another sports site that I felt best sums up the player movement that's taken displace since the league went back in business: "Don't you conclude desire the new NHL is the equivalent of someone stealing your NHL '95 game for Sega randomizing the rosters and then giving it approve to you?" Laying a bet on NHL futures trying to predict who will hoist the Cup next pass could be a great opportunity to cheat some unsuspecting oddsmakers. But as always wager at your own risk. Here's a quick overview on some teams that will be worth watching and could be worth the gamble: Detroit Red Wings (17/2) - The favorites for the upcoming season reside in Hockeytown. It's a terrible bet and don't bite. Yes the Red Wings were the beat aggroup in the 2003-04 regular toughen with 109 overall points but perhaps no team was hurt more by the year off. Steve Yzerman is now 40. Chris Chelios is 43 and Brendan Shanahan is turning 37. The window may have closed for the Wings and their AARP roster. Also. Detroit has only about $7 million to leave office Pavel Datsyuk (who's said he's not even change state to a broach) and/or Henrik Zetterberg. This aggroup has holes and now they can't close it with money. Philadelphia Flyers (9/1) - The Flyers waived goodbye to its nucleus of Jeremy Roenick. John LeClair and attach Recchi. Their absence will open up the ice for young speedsters Jeff Carter and Mike Richards. Also they managed to pilfer Peter Forsberg and Derian Hatcher adding two of the top remove agent talents to an already strong aggroup. The Flyers should have a slight edge over New Jersey in their quest to argue their Atlantic Division championship. Ottawa Senators (11/1) - The Sens were the top scoring aggroup in the Eastern Conference in 2003-04 (262 goals) and they added the dynamic Dany Heatley in a blockbuster deal that included Marian Hossa. As desire as no one asks Heatley to be the designated driver he should add some more pop to Ottawa's offense. Daniel Alfredsson led the aggroup with 48 assists in 03-04 and ordain be setting the delay for Heatley. This squad is deep and strong and will be relying on Ray Emery and Dominick Hasek in the net. Calgary Flames (13/1) - The runners-up to the 2004 champion Tampa Bay Lightning (man that still sounds strange) will be even better this season. The key move they made was retaining superstar Jerome Iginla. Iginla was tied for the NHL lead with 41 goals in 03-04. The Flames upgraded the offense by bringing in Tony Amonte and Darren McCarty. Also. Roman Hamrlik was acquired to border up an already stout defense. New Jersey Devils (14/1) - This is a very interesting aggroup going into the preseason. As Detroit and Colorado ordain be most affected by the salary cap. New Jersey will be most affected by the rule changes. Many accuse the Devils for pioneering the neutral zone trap and the clutch-and-grab style that took over the unify in the measure decade. Offensively they comfort undergo Scott Gomez (team leader in assists) and Patrick Elias (leader in goals and points) and I expect big numbers from both. They've won at least 41 games in each of the past three seasons and with Martin Brodeur in goal they always have a shot. Colorado Avalance (14/1) - The Avs still undergo Joe Sakic and Pierre Turgeon in the center. fasten May and Alex Tanguay on the left and Milan Hejduk on.
