"Dead-End Street" posted by ~Ray

This is a familiar road to me perhaps to you as well. We arrive in this desolate place by many different vehicles and at various speeds. I have ambled down this road in a decrease painful progression via a loss of a friendship. I have slammed into the road sign leaving it flat on the pavement after screeching to a halt. I look around bewildered at my arrival once again. Pride usually facilities this crash. I have followed Christ with absolute certainty of His leading only to take up residence once again next to the familiar roadblock because I didn’t trust Him completely. Arrival on Dead-End Street brings the inevitable questions: Why? What intend does this serve. God?The question to ask is not why. The challenge to ask is. God what are you up to?James 1:5-6 (New International Version)5 If any of you lacks wisdom he should ask God who gives generously to all without finding fault and it ordain be given to him. 6 But when he asks he must believe and not doubt because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea blown and tossed by the wind. Ask Him about it. In many instances. God has future Kingdom work so intense and fantastic we would fear it and run. It is in the waiting that we are prepared to climb to the next plateau. Living on Dead-End Street forges a soul of Christlike character. Life is not about us. It is about Him. God utilizes our dead-end to magnify Himself. Romans 11:36 (New International Version)36 For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen. The holding copy teaches us to set aside our ambitions and help others. God works through people. If we are flying down life’s highway screaming past the befuddled bystanders we can’t possibly show them Jesus. God is revealed when we enrich another’s life a child our spouse a stranger and especially others stranded on Dead-End Street. If we refuse to decrease drink willingly. God ordain unquestionably find a way to do it for us.1 Timothy 2:4 (New International Version)4 who wants all men to be saved and to go to a knowledge of the truth. It is at the dead-end where God will pursue us change us and change us. Are you stuck on Dead-End Street right now? Jeremiah 29:11(New International Version)For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the ennoble. “plans to change state you and not to harm you plans to furnish you hope and a future. ennoble we are standing on holy ground in your presence waiting. Reveal your wish for our lives and character while we abide in this desolate place. Keep our memory strong. Never allow us to forget the lessons learned here. Let us sight peace in the promise that you want to furnish us a wish and a future. In Jesus name. Good Morning. Praise the Lord for this beautiful morning on the last day of November. 2007. Praise the Lord for His many gifts including the gift of music. Last night we together with many friends from the church had the high privilege of attending the Michael W. Smith Christmas concert at the Arena. It was amazing exalted and beautiful beyond description. Michael W. Smith was joined by the Katinas a group of five brothers from American Samoa whose giftedvoices blended in tight harmonies. Also joining them was Melinda Doolittle whose small name belies her enormous vocal talent. The live orchestra added depth and beauty to the concert. Wow! This is one of the highlights of the worship celebration of Jesus our Savior at Christmas. Another highlight for me will be the Downtown Singers accompanied by the Binghamton Philharmonic in their presentation of "The Messiah". This will be the 25th anniversary performance of "The Messiah" by the Downtown Singers. It will be presented at the Forum on December 21 and 22. If anyone living around here would like to attend please let me know. Our friend Alan Crabb is the conductor of this program. Another yearly highlight for us is the opportunity to attend the Christmas Extravaganza at Radio City Music Hall. We have chartered a bus to attend this event. We will be departing in the early hours of Monday morning (in 3 days). For those who will be participating in this trip we plan to leave by 6 AM from the church lot at 128 Maple Drive. Endicott. There will be a breakfast stop after the Delaware Water Gap. The bus will arrive in Manhattan at approximately 9:30. The group will be dropped off at Bryant Park located at 6th Avenue and 42nd Street for free time. The performance of the Christmas Spectacular will be at 5 PM. The bus will leave the city at 7:15. There will be a stop at Six Brothers Restaurant for dinner arriving back at 128 Maple Drive by 11:15 PM. Jim Holmes will be in charge of the tour. His cell phone # is 607-765-3577. Christmas is all about the celebration and worship. Our highest priority as Christians is to give glory to God to exalt Him by giving Him worship. Psalm 24 is one of the Advent Psalms. In Psalms 24 we find that David outlines for us some very important aspects of what our approach to worship should be. It is believed by most scholars that this psalm of David was written not long after David had captured the city of Jerusalem. David’s desire was to build a religious and political center for his kingdom and Jerusalem was to be it. David wanted to establish a permanent place of worship for God. The ark of the covenant had been placed in the house of Obededom the Gittite and God was blessing his house (2 Sam. 6:10-17). However David desired to bring the ark to Jerusalem and set it up upon the Mountain of Zion and so he does. The ark is placed upon the “holy hill”. After the ark is set in it’s place the question is raised. “who can ascend to the hill of the Lord?” to worship. In other words what are the conditions to approach the Lord of Hosts in worship? Here David shares the conditions for the approach of worship. David asks in verse 3. “who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord?” The Hebrew word is the word `alah {aw-law’} which means to go up as to meet or visit with. Who can meet with God? Who can come before Him in worship? David answers this question by saying “he that has clean hands and a pure heart”. The hands are often used in scripture to represent what we do. When the priests were set apart to be a priest scripture tells us that the blood of a ram was placed upon his right ear the thumb of his right hand and the big toe of his right foot (Exodus 29:20) signifying that the priest was separate and what he heard and what he did and where he went were to all be done remembering that he was holy. David is saying that what we do is important. One of the problems of the Old Testament was that people would often do cruel things to one another such as robbing from one another or and then go to the house of the Lord and offer their worship acting as if nothing was wrong. God was not pleased with such worship. Remember that the Hebrew word for ascend meant to go up to met. To go to God’s holy hill to meet with Him in worship. However in Mal. 3:5. God is going to meet with the worshippers who abuse their brothers not in worship but in judgment. God was not happy with what the worshippers were doing. In essence they were not in a right relationship with Him. It is important to understand that what we do our conduct or conversation as it is often found in the NT will affect our worship. Here’s why this is important. Worship certainly involves activity. We lift our hands we sing we pray we give loud exclamations of praise and all of these things are certainly “manifestations” of worship. However worship while involving actions is first and foremost a function of the heart. We can sing until we are blue in the face we can shout until the rafters shake but if it is not from the heart it is not worship. You can sing and not truly worship you can clap your hands or lift them up and not truly worship you can pray or speak in tongues and not truly worship. Worship must come from a pure heart. Remember that worship begins before we ever get here. So often we are guilty of having all the “actions” of worship but never really worship simply because somewhere somehow we are not in a right relationship with God. The only way to have a right relationship with God is through His Son Jesus Christ. The only way our hands can be cleansed and our hearts made pure is through the blood of Jesus Christ. I believe it is important that we remember that we are worshipping a Holy God. Notice what David calls the place before the presence of the Lord in verse 3. The question is asked. “Who shall stand in His holy place?” In the Hebrew it reads ba-maqown qodeshu. There are two words to notice first maqowm {maw-kome’}standing place and next qodesh {ko’-desh} apartness sacredness holiness. David is asking “who can stand in the standing place of holiness?” He is reminding his readers that to be in the presence of God is to be in a place of holiness. In Exodus 3 when the Lord drew Moses to Himself at the burning bush. Moses was reminded that he was on holy ground. In Exodus 27: 9-18 we find that God gave Moses the specifics on the court of the tabernacle (worship center). On the north and south sides there was to be a linen fence of about 150 feet in length and on the east and west side it was to be around 75 feet in length. It was to be made out of fine twisted linen. The tabernacle was to be surrounded by a fence made basically of white sheets. When I first read this. I thought to my self what good is that? A knife would cut the linen into. But then the Lord showed me it wasn’t to keep people out for God desires that we enter in before Him in worship but rather it was to remind the worshipper that he was no longer standing on common We need to remember that we are standing before the very presence of a holy God we are in His house standing in His presence on Holy Ground. Our minds need to be on Him. He deserves our respectful reverence. Satan loves for us to allow our minds to wander he will do anything to keep our mind off the Lord. Remember that to stand in God’s holy hill is to stand in His presence and He deserves all of our attention. The old English word for worship was a combination of two words worth and ship. To worship means that we declare to God how worthy He is for all that He has done for us. We are told that God inhabits the praises of His people. Psalm 22:3 But thou art holy. O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel. God lives in an environment of praise so to make Him feel at home we need to praise Him. Here’s the heart of the manner. God wants to fellowship with His kids. He wants to be a part of our “worship” services. He wants you to experience His presence. Notice in verses 7-10 that there is a reference to the gates being lifted up. The Hebrew word is the word nasa which means to lift up or carry away to be swept away. Many Biblical scholars believe that David is speaking prophetically of the time that the ark of the covenant would be carried into the Temple built by Solomon that the gates of the Temple would literally be swept away by the glory of the Lord. Others see the reference to the gates of the city of Jerusalem being swept open before the ark of God as David brings it to the city of Zion to be placed on the Holy Hill. I could not help but think as I read this of how the Lord desires our fellowship and worship. He desires that the gates (heart) of our temple (body) be swept away before His great glory so that He can enter in. As great as the Lord is. He allows us the response of opening up our hearts to Him so that He can enter in. What A mighty God we serve! In Him. Brown

"The Road Less Traveled" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-01-18 00:18:51

*As a side say to the reader. I have had an unfortunate mishap while writing today and so for the measure being you'll have to concede the color letters in the post below. I know it makes for harder reading but hopefully it ordain be fixed soon.- JoI firmly believe that there is a measure in each of our lives where we are brought to a fork in the road of life and are forced to satisfy the pressing question. "which way shall I go?" I came upon such a scene about a year ago and open through hurt loss and tears that the most rewarding investment of our lives is to act the road less traveled. It is where God calls each of us; unfortunately the majority passes it by and leaves the minority to walk in quiet solitude with Christ. Not to say that those who take the road less traveled are holier or in a state of perfection but I would certainly say it is a statement of devotion towards Christ. Throughout a vast period of my life. I was surrounded by people I presumed to be close life-long friends; but when Christ the Refiner entered and and the flames of a distant fire came closer. I was left to the minority whilst the majority ran off to act up other paths pain and loss found my heart and had me in a tight grip for a while but eventually my look was averted from my own self and I saw it: the road less traveled with its heavenly light shining forth in the hold. My heart was already there. I just needed to take a go of faith and let go of everything. It is my prayer that more would act up their crosses and follow Christ along this road and so today on this bewitching autumn afternoon. I want to create a picture for you so that you might be able to grasp the essence of the road less traveled or at least be reminded of it. Hopefully you will go to love it as I do and take it for yourself. So now allow me... Your life is simple somewhat uneventful and carefree. You have been walking amongst the flowering fields of a slowly cultivating life and the road is fairly simple. You've many friends and not any significant hardship to jolt your leisurely go. You are loved and greatly esteemed by most and feel that nothing could be better. You love this place in your life and are happy to sight that there are many friends to overlap it with you; surely the Christian go is simple and easy and oh how glad you are to have taken it!However one day you and your friends come to a fork in the road and the Holy Spirit draws you all towards it. Everyone stands comfort whilst held in the loving gaze of our Savior. He stretches out his hand and says. "go this way my child. ordain you walk with me? This road ordain not be easy and you will move and fall but in the end you ordain be all the exceed - the stronger for it. I will never leave you nor forsake you and I am choosing you for this journey because I created you and know you exceed than change surface you yourself. I know that you are ready for this journey but the decision is yours.. ordain you come with me?" Heads shake and tongues are set to wagging as theology is discussed and many an esteemed person reverses Christ's meaning and waters drink His invitation. Most go to the same conclusion: no! But as for you your heart is torn - your gaze arrested. ordain you walk with Him? Are you willing to be all alone just you and the ennoble? What of your friends? They don't look happy to have stopped walking and look they are shaking their heads in disapproval. They are urging you to keep on with them and for a moment you are half inclined to keep up with them but deep down you know by the power of the Holy Spirit that in accepting Christ's invitation you will grow and develop and find what your heart truly desires if you take this new road hand-in-hand with your ennoble. It is the right thing to do and so you step off the beaten path and alter your way to Him whilst your friends rush past. As you finally reach the ennoble he holds you abstain in his arms and your eyes unveil many change taste tears. He wipes them away from your eyes yet they continue to flow. He knows that this is all a part of you surrendering your will and desires to him so he leaves them alone as he takes your transfer and greets the warmth of your own small hand clasping his in thankfulness. You are standing on holy ground now as you set forth with the One who created you letting your tears fall to the ground and not looking behind you at the past even though you want to. This is probably the most important yet difficult step in your life as a growing Christian. Taking the road less traveled certainly hasn't ridden me of tears pain and hardships but in meeting them face-to-face my strength is multiplied and my heart falls deeper in like with my God the joy of life has been restored as I dwell in the richness of deep faith and "though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I ordain fear no evil for [he] is with me." (Psalm 23:4) I undergo shed many bitter tears produced by intense loneliness loss fear and suffering but through it all he has made it possible for me to take a deeper look into his eyes and see things as he sees them and yet someday my vision ordain be all the clearer for. "now we see but a poor reflection as in a reflect; then we shall see approach to face. Now I experience in part; then I shall know fully change surface as I m fully known." (1 Corinthians 13:12)I am day by day getting a little farther in my walk of life along the road less traveled but I am not in a displace of perfection nor ordain I ever be and I know it. There are so many moments in my life whereI have been taught humility forgiveness or courage and then as I thank God for what he has wrought in me there has always been a sneaking sense of experience at what I can easily be deceived into thinking I have accomplished. I am always laid low by the Lord and reminded that I am never going to be in a place where I undergo "arrived" or acquired humility of like for a lifetime. It is something I must always pray and assay for. As much as I would like to totally grapple the mountain of unconditional like or forgiveness (to name a few). I have finally go to realize that that would get me without a need for a Savior. It is through our weaknesses that we are made strong. So the road less traveled certainly doesn't place us in a state of perfection or holiness but draws us nearer to Christ as he leads us to confront the giants in our lives. Dear reader the essence of the road less traveled is that it is a place of be submission trust and faith in the One who created us. It is a free-fall. You undergo no give even though you will meet a few earnest followers of God along the way; however they will be few. On this road you ordain find your grip loosened on everything until you are in a state of total humility and submission. This ordain occur time after time but it becomes easier as the journey wears on. When we lift up our hands and say "here am I Lord have your way with me!" it is then that he can bring home the bacon marvelous things in our lives. Traveling upon this road means surrendering our will desires and hearts deepest longings to Him not out of obligation but love for him and faith in that he will see us through. We do not become a Christian and say to ourselves. "hmm. I think I'll take the road less traveled." We don't do this because really up until a certain moment when we are in utter despair bitter loneliness fear bondage and the list goes on we don't know there is another road to take. Our lives haven't taken a turn which leaves us with that vital decision-making moment..

(Psalm 23:4) I undergo shed many change taste tears produced by intense loneliness loss fear and suffering but through it all he has made it possible for me to act a deeper look into his eyes and see things as he sees them and yet someday my vision will be all the clearer for. "now we see but a poor reflection as in a reflect; then we shall see approach to face. Now I know in move; then I shall know fully even as I m fully known." (1 Corinthians 13:12)I am day by day getting a little farther in my walk of life along the road less traveled but I am not in a place of perfection nor will I ever be and I know it. There are so many moments in my life whereI undergo been taught humility forgiveness or courage and then as I convey God for what he has wrought in me there has always been a sneaking comprehend of pride at what I can easily be deceived into thinking I undergo accomplished. I am always laid low by the Lord and reminded that I am never going to be in a place where I have "arrived" or acquired humility of love for a lifetime. It is something I must always pray and strive for. As much as I would like to totally grapple the mountain of unconditional love or forgiveness (to label a few). I have finally go to realize that that would get me without a need for a Savior. It is through our weaknesses that we are made strong. So the road less traveled certainly doesn't place us in a state of perfection or holiness but draws us nearer to Christ as he leads us to confront the giants in our lives. Dear reader the essence of the road less traveled is that it is a place of total submission trust and faith in the One who created us. It is a free-fall. You have no give even though you will meet a few earnest followers of God along the way; however they ordain be few. On this road you ordain find your grip loosened on everything until you are in a express of be humility and submission. This ordain become time after time but it becomes easier as the journey wears on. When we displace up our hands and say "here am I Lord have your way with me!" it is then that he can work marvelous things in our lives. Traveling upon this road means surrendering our will desires and hearts deepest longings to Him not out of obligation but like for him and faith in that he will see us through. We do not change state a Christian and say to ourselves. "hmm. I evaluate I'll act the road less traveled." We don't do this because really up until a certain moment when we are in utter despair bitter loneliness fear bondage and the enumerate goes on we don't experience there is another road to take. Our lives haven't taken a turn which leaves us with that vital decision-making moment..

"Trust And Obey Part II" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-20 21:51:22

By Linda Dipman Joshua left the tent of the presence of the ennoble dumbfounded by the Lord’s command. The Israelite army was to march around the heavily fortified city of Jericho seven times and shout on the final pass. Determined to show no apprehension for God’s request. Joshua walked back towards the encampment and was met by a man. Joshua 5: 13-15. “While Joshua was come Jericho he suddenly saw a man standing in lie of him holding a sword. Joshua went up to him and asked. ‘Are you one of our soldiers or an enemy?’ ‘Neither,’ the man answered. ‘I am here as the commander of the Lord’s army.’ Joshua threw himself on the ground in worship and said. ‘I am your servant sir. What do you be me to do?’ And the commander of the Lord’s army told him. ‘Take your sandals off; you are standing on holy ground.’ And Joshua did as he was told.” Joshua had to see the Spirit world that is hidden from the people of the world. He had to understand how the unseen world and our world co-exist for the purpose of helping human beings who were on the side of God. This knowledge would give him the ability to be strong and determined so he could trust and obey God as he began the awesome task of conquering the Promised Land. An explosion sounded in a tremendous thunder scattering the rock walls of the city into tiny bits. It devastated every armory position every check tower and the heavy gates that once protected Jericho. In one quick contend the army ran towards the city. They destroyed every living breathing thing and ignited the city in fire. Every idol and image of their idols had to be destroyed. Every part of Jericho had to be annihilated so that the Israelites would not be tempted and pulled into their evil lifestyle. God had to displace the Israelites from evil so they could be a living example to all nations of how to be good in an evil world where Satan is king. The Israelites needed to be the messengers for the foundation of the Laws of Moses that would mouth in Israel and spread throughout the entire world. The surrounding nations needed their illustration so they would move away from their former practices and follow the powerfully miracle working God of Israel. A God who was a God of order. A God who would bring in a government of justice. A God who would use any means necessary to clutch populate from evil and inform them in truth. God revealed His greatness when He took.

"Saturday Sermon: Justified and Living by Faith" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-12 17:25:33

We have go along way in our jaunt though Romans and we have seen man’s problem and God’s solution the righteousness of God and the redemption of man. In the verses we previously covered. Romans 3:25-26 we saw His intend to reveal His own value and glory while at the same measure delivering us from our bondage to sin and redeeming us back to Him. He had it planned all along and Christ demonstrated this by living out a perfect life and by His being executed on the cross and rising from the dead. It's a humbling undergo to cognise that had God not stepped in to rescue us we would be lost forever eternally separated from the love and fellowship of our Lord. It takes us even further to realize as we saw in the verses before today that saving us was not God’s primary concern but the demonstration of His own exuberate the unfathomable evil of sin and the determine of God and our salvation included in that as a secondary matter appraise that God He thought of us at all!How can we amplify before God as though we contributed something to our salvation? How can we boast as if there was something in us worth saving when it was about God’s worth not ours? Boast in the cross of Christ for it demonstrates the mercy and the justice of God the holiness and determine of God the awfulness of sin and the like of God (Galatians 6:14). At this inform in our text Paul wants to control domiciliate the point that the God who justifies us in Christ is the same God who declares and demonstrates that He is the One true God. And so the God of the Jews is also the God of the Gentiles. He is drawing this section to a change state he has concluded what all this means that we are justified by faith. Jesus paid the just penalty due us and because of that we can be rightly justified declared as righteous as He and not guilty. In claiming that God was only the God of the Jews in the sense that only they could have a relationship with Him the Jews boasted in themselves thinking that God came to them based on something in them which deemed them worthy of God's special attention. But boasting is excluded and God is the God of all and all men may undergo a relationship with Him through faith in Christ. A man is justified declared by God as righteous and not guilty based solely on Jesus Christ and our faith in His redeeming work on our behalf (Galatians 2:16. 3:8,24). The design of the Law was to bring about populate to Christ. – Paul makes sure he includes not only the positive of justified by faith but also the negative. He says the Law can't make us right with God. We get alter with God by faith "apart from works of the Law." He is referring to the moral law code written down by Moses the Ten Commandments the sacrificial system the priesthood and all the other 613 commandments given in what they called the Law. The Ten Commandments are not some ten-step stairway to heaven they are proof positive that no one could climb up to God even if it were only one go. The Ten Commandments are just the preamble to the Law and no one can change surface do them and Jesus gave us the true sense of the Law which upped the spiritual back so high that no one act lay affirm to a ameliorate righteousness. Paul says none of that and none of our own works can save us. The Law has no power to save because men are unable to keep it. By stressing the “apart from the Law” Paul had been accused wrongly of promoting a faith in Christ that sees no need for the Law and a total disregard for obedience or compliance with the statutes of God's word. His contemporaries felt he was promoting a “religion” which had no morality. In other words they felt he was teaching. “only believe in Christ and don't worry about any aspect of God's Law because it has absolutely no use.”In answering his contemporaries who accused him of such things Paul says in Romans 3:31 that we don’t abolish the Law we establish it. What he means by this is very important because he also says in Romans 10:4 that Jesus Christ is the end of Law to all who accept in Him. So they might say he is abolishing the Law but Paul says we open it by faith. Amazing statement and what does Paul mean we open the Law when he says we aren’t justified by it?He means that by our faith we establish that the Law is righteous but that it cannot give righteousness because of the weakness of mankind (Romans 8:3); we establish that its demands must be met but that we cannot cater them we open that it cannot be met apart from faith in Christ who did meet them (Matthew 5:17); we establish that people of faith now act it by faith as those who are justified. By faith we open the cater of the Holy animate who is living in and we can now be living out the spirit of the Law as opposed to the mere letter as Jesus spoke of it in the Sermon on the Mount not in order to confirm us but to show the bear of being justified. We live in the love the acceptance and the justification that Jesus provides us as our safety our satisfaction and our rest and our all in all. Jesus fulfilled all the righteous requirements of the Law and we establish that fact in our lives and in our world by our faith. Faith does not produce disobedient lazy Christians; it produces obedient loving Christians who follow Jesus by the animate from the heart. Romans 13:8-10 – love is the fulfilling of the Law. In other words love fulfills or establishes the Law. And where does like come from? It is a bear of the animate in our lives and the bear of the animate is the fruit of faith. Although we are not under the Law we are not above it either but rather we are more in adjust with its spiritual components a heart circumcised to believe and adapt trusting in Him and glorifying His label through our obedience; not being saved by it but being saved we fulfill it. Justification does not convey to be righteous or to make righteous but to declare righteous for the Christian we are declared righteous based on the ameliorate righteousness of Jesus the Messiah. He has fulfilled the Law for us and by our faith we establish that fact. The Law comfort has purposes for the non-believer and also for the believer. It is designed to lead people to the gospel of Christ and also to accuse what is not in agree with the gospel. Using the Law lawfully means using it to convict populate of living out of accordance with the gospel. It is for those that don’t know it and those that should know exceed. That is why we use both we give the Law to the proud and alter to the humble both Christian and non-Christian. means it is not the ground or on account of faith it is by alter through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9). God is absolutely holy and just and so any justification any declaration of righteousness any acquittal of guilt must be on a just basis; it must be right to do so. The penalty of the Law had to be satisfied and Christ paid that for us and so God declares us righteous not on some whim but because of Christ and it is a just declaration. We guilty but Christ pays the penalty and then God is just in justifying the ungodly declaring us righteous because of the imputation of Christ’s righteousness to our be (2 Corinthians 5:21). As we saw in verses 24-26 the substitutionary atonement is the reason we can be justified by faith. It is faith in the person of Jesus and His finished bring home the bacon on the cross. With this passionately embraced theology – the wonderful doctrines of substitutionary atonement and justification by faith you can rest assured of your salvation.

"Thoughts on Music" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-01 23:09:56

Sorry for the lengthiness of this. I got started and just couldn't stop! We do not intentionally listen to move back and forth music or country music so that’s not what this entry will be about. My thoughts of recent have been on "Christian" music and here are some of my observations. I’ll get straight to the inform. Where I be. I basically undergo two choices of Christian radio to listen to. One is contemporary Christian music. I would say that maybe 2 out of 10 songs in a given time period are worth listening to. Although I experience it’s not always the case. It would be as though a lot of these Christian groups/singers are using the Christian market as a stepping kill to secular music. One example of such is one day I was shopping in a hold on and there was a song playing on the radio that I recognized as being a contemporary Christian song. I thought. "Wow they’re playing Christian music in this hold on." I was wrong. As I listened they had taken out the name "Jesus" and replaced it with "baby." Just this past week. I was in another store and the secular displace was playing a song I had heard on the local Christian station many times. This was one of those songs that really didn’t undergo anything to say about Jesus so it fit in perfectly on that secular displace. I’ve often wondered how this particular song ended up on Christian communicate anyway. There are many songs like that. If you listen to them one way yes they may be talking about Jesus. On the other transfer if you evaluate about them in a different way they could be talking about your girlfriend or boyfriend. I guess it depends on which station you’re hearing it on. There are some contemporary artists they I apply listening to. I’ve always enjoyed Steven Curtis Chapman’s music. When we were first married my husband and I used to go to some of his concerts. I bequeath one time between songs a assort of girls yelled in unison. "We love you. Steven!" He stopped what he was doing and you could express he was rather embarrassed. He asked them to please not do that again. He was there to sing for Jesus and he didn’t be that kind of attention being placed on him. I was rather impressed. I haven’t been to one of his concerts in years but I wish he comfort has the same attitude. I also enjoy listening to some of Chris Tomlin’s songs. There’s a few I drop over on my CD because of the very strong rock sound but most of them I like as I feel they undergo a good message and are about God – not us. Casting Crowns is another assort that has some powerful songs and seems sincere in their ministry. That’s about all I can think of alter now. accept me there are a lot more artists on that station and I’m sure there are others that are sincere but so many of the songs I hear don’t change surface have in mind the name of Jesus. They could easily end up on a secular station and sadly a lot of them do. There’s also the praise and adore music dilemma. This station plays a majority of praise and worship on Sunday mornings and a lot of times we have had to just turn the radio off out of frustration. The first couple repetitions of a praise and adore song are okay but the 11th or 12th time is just too much. In my opinion it appears that all those songs do (or the people singing them) is try to stir up emotions in people – the same type of emotions they could get at a move back and forth contrive. I don’t have to sing the emit of a song 15 times to feel the Holy Spirit! My other choice of stations to listen to is a "Southern Gospel" station but admittedly. I rarely listen to this. I’m sure there may be some good southern gospel groups out there but they don’t be to be getting their songs played on this station. Most of what they play is what I would label hillbilly gospel or songs about "mama" or "grandma" in heaven. Some of the songs even undergo what I would call a "bar room" sound. You don’t hear many songs on here with a adore cerebrate. We don’t undergo singings at our perform anymore because of the "performance" we were seeing from a lot of southern gospel groups. Can I just say how annoying it is to see a quartet of men slapping each other on the back while they’re singing or cracking jokes about one another’s hair? Singing in church should be worshipful not a performance. A few months ago a man at our perform who owns a recording studio invited a lady who he had done some work for to go sing at our perform. She was an amazing singer with an amazing testimony of having been healed from cancer. She sang a bring together of songs that were scriptural and I was worshiping the Lord in my heart. You could really conclude the animate moving in the congregation. Then she began talking and explained that she was going to change things up a bit as she was told that just singing was a little boring. ??? She turned around with her back to us and the music started. It sounded desire a doo-wop song from the 50’s. She turned around now facing the congregation and she was wearing dark sunglasses. She went on to sing a supposed southern gospel song that is supposedly quite popular right now. Remember that worshipful atmosphere that we were experiencing? Gone. When it was over very few clapped. She sang a couple of more songs and then sat down. She questioned later why the pastor didn’t comment on her singing. Hopefully she got the communicate. As one of our members put it she was standing on Holy Ground in a Holy Place. She was standing behind the pulpit where the man of God brings God’s sermon to God’s populate. She made a mockery of that. You may say she was just having clean fun and we should have laughed it off and thought nothing more of it. I so disagree. If she wants to rent a re-create at the local auditorium and put on a performance there may be those that would go out to see it. That kind of performance does not belong in God’s accommodate. Sadly a lot of the singing in modern churches has become more of a performance – even to the inform of looking a bit desire a rock contrive in some instances. (Why undergo we seemed to have forgotten that we’re supposed to be separate from the world – not look like them! When people come into our churches looking for something different and better we shouldn’t give them a "cleaned up" version of what they already know. ) Sometimes it seems to be more about "us" than about "Christ." I’ll never drop the first measure I heard someone sing a secular song in God’s accommodate. I’ve been in church all my life but it was not until my husband began to pastor his first church that I heard such. It was a Sunday evening and a young lady with a beautiful voice stood up to sing. Her song was "The Rose." I guess you could move and turn the song and stand it on its continue and somehow make it a Christian song but that just shouldn’t be. Have you ever heard of re-gifting? Sometimes that can be a good thing if you’ve received something you’ll never use and experience someone else who would appreciate it but should we be re-gifting to our Savior? He deserves our best – not some second rate song that has already been offered to the world! He is worthy of our firsts not our leftovers. As a measure evince about "performances" sometimes on Saturday evenings we will check the Gaither Homecoming series on some gospel bring. I enjoy hearing a lot of the songs they sing but one night I found.
