"The Life Of Brian, An Article For Fellow Suts Fans" posted by ~Ray

Though acquired through a trade with Washington just a week ago new Ducks forward Brian Sutherby had already made his presence felt in Anaheim. The 6-3. 215-pound Sutherby has played in all three games since the trade and in Sundays 3-2 win over the Kings he skated with Ducks youngsters Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry to add a physical presence around the net for that line. The 25-year-old Sutherby is a former alter captain in Washington where he scored 14 goals and 30 points in 76 games during the 2005-06 season. Injuries limited him to just 69 games last season and he had only gotten into five this year before the Capitals sent him to Anaheim. "Hes a big kid who can skate and he plays an aggressive style," says Ducks head coach Randy Carlyle. "This is an opportunity for a player to play to a higher level and furnish us what hes got. I dont think youll see Brian Sutherby as a pure offensive player but hes a player who will get into the dirty areas go to the front of the net defend his teammates and be physical. "Sutherby chosen 26th overall in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft will return to his birthplace of Edmonton when the Ducks play the Oilers on Friday night. On his reaction to the trade,I felt great about it. I really didnt have any idea where I was going. I just knew that something was eventually going to happen. It just turned out I went from one coast to the next. But I was happy to hear I was coming to a veteran team and a team that is well-coached. I was ecstatic. Im coming to a veteran club and a team that knows how to win. That makes for a lot easier transition. The guys undergo been great to me. On becoming acclimated to his new team,Its been fun. Its a little nerve-racking because Ive never been traded before. Its kind of the same feelings as when youre breaking into the league. That first game in Dallas almost felt like my first NHL game all over again. At the same time. Im a little older and a little more experienced so I conclude pretty good. Randy is kind of easing me in slowly. There is a lot to learn and a lot to act in. But so far Ive felt okay. On the chance to play for a new team,Its very exciting. Its a great opportunity. I wasnt playing much in Washington so to come here and be able to step in and get that chance is a great feeling. On playing on a line with Getzlaf and Perry,Its certainly a great opportunity. On that line my job is to work hard bang bodies get pucks and be a big presence in front of the net when those guys have the puck. They are obviously great offensive players and you want the puck in their hands. On living on the West Coast for the first time,I havent really thought about it too much yet. Its obviously different out here and the weather is different. Ive been to California a few times in the past and its a great area. Im just staying in the hotel right now and there isnt a lot to do around there. But maybe thats a good thing [laughs]. Im still just trying to get things sorted out and get all my stuff out here. Well start with that and go from there. On playing again for Randy Carlyle who was an assistant coach during Sutherbys stint in Washington,Obviously there is a big difference between being a head coach and an assistant coach. But from a coaching aspect. Randy has a ton of great things to offer and its a well-structured team. Its a lot to learn and study and take in. One day at a measure. Ill figure it all out. Another reason McPhee is an idiot. He could undergo waited for at least a week more to pull the trigger give Suts a chance under Boudreau to see if there is indeed a role for him on this team anyone else get the irony that in McPhee's eyes he isn't good enough to crack the worst team's roster but he's comfortably playing on the defending Cup champs???? (IMG:) If that alone isn't a reflection on how stupid the front office is I don't experience what other case is there to be made. The simple fact that Anaheim was interested in him should have been a tip-off to GM that perhaps there could be a spot on this team for Sutherby. I wish Suts well but I was not impressed with him last year. He played similarly to Bradley but with less speed. I really think the groin thing slowed his development and I'm not convinced that he's ever regained his skating stride. But still. I wish him well. I can't help but wonder how much of his new found success is due to a change of scenery and that initial move of adrenalin that comes with a new adventure.

He was also named the EC captain to the All-Star team and he achieved his 600th career NHL goal in his Rangers domiciliate debut. Christina: As is typical with me. I never give the benefit of the disbelieve to a newly-knighted Ranger if he has previously established himself as the opposition. Being that Shanny (took me a long time to get to calling him that – I started out calling him Brenda) was a Devil for 4 years the hole was deep. It took me about two-thirds of the season to get past that and see him for the tremendous leader that he is. He’s no diva and does nothing for me in the eye candy department but I learned to love his reliability on the ice and it was obvious that he had earned the respect of his teammates especially the younger ones. I also esteem the family man in him (I won’t get into the wife-stealing part – his wife was previously married to another NHLer) as he is Dad to 3 young.

"Knee-jerks and Notes: Buffalo, 11/27" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-15 15:06:48

“We defeat ourselves tonight,” Tom Poti told media in the locker room after Monday’s 3-1 loss to Buffalo. Coach Boudreau amplified: “We played as hard as them just not as cause to be perceived as them.” A team can rarely turn the puck over as the Caps did Monday night against a “great transition team” in Boudreau’s words and defeat.   The most impressive aspect of Ovechkin’s goal was his refusal to furnish up on the play. What do you call this cater surge move he makes from the wing racing in legs churning defenders often perfectly positioned which ends with his willing himself to score a goal? We the OFB team and our readers need to put our creative thinking caps on and try and name this seemingly unprecedented fast-action scoring come down of determined wish and pure prodigy. Is it beginning to be to anyone else besides us that Mike Green is emerging (already emerged?) as this hockey’s team’s most dynamic presence on the power compete point? And not by default either. It pains us to say it but Michael Nylander pulled an Esa Tikkanen late in the third. (Admittedly with the stakes not quite so high.) It was that kind of night for Michael Nylander he authored two deadly turnovers in the second period that facilitated Buffalo’s lasting 3-1 bring about. Then deep in the third while in the crease behind Ryan Miller he maneuvered the puck everywhere but into the net off a bound of an Alexander Semin shot. You might not see such ill-timed infamy again the be of the season. After the game. Boudreau told the press that had the Caps gotten that second goal he felt the momentum achieved from it would have willed them to a tying goal.  Viktor Kozlov: an enigma wrapped in a mystery. So much skill so much coat so much sizzle accompanied by too much discontinue. His numbers this season aren’t bad at all but you consider what’s in his toolbox and you’re left puzzled by the frequency with which he authors impact-free shifts. You ask an excellent challenge which unfortunately doesn’t have an easy answer. Certainly multi-use venues desire Verizon Center are at a disadvantage in terms of general ice quality simply because the conditions therein change so regularly and quite often so dramatically. NHL arenas such as those open in Edmonton and Calgary and Vancouver which do not share their environs with NBA and college basketball tenants can ensure greater consistency of conditions which indisputably helps with ice quality. It is also adjust that colder climates make for easier maintenance of quality ice. But ice’s real killer is humidity as opposed to simple air temperature. And we in D. C know all too well about our humidity plague. Still we haven’t seen anything approaching the anxiety and frankly outrage associated with the quality of the Caps’ ice in years past quite like we have with this toughen. Something novel and pernicious has taken hold. We’re eager to sight out more about its genesis and what Caps’ management is able and willing to do to improve things. Steph bad ice is soft ice–ice that is for all practical purposes melting. The puck bounces a lot and skaters suffer their advance and go away falling all over the displace. I don’t experience if there’s really a way to fix it what with a dual-use arena (for basketball games sheets of plywood are placed over the ice before the basketball court is laid down) and the relatively high ambient temps the DC area has been experiencing lately. And my nomination to name Alex’s power move is Ovied as in. “Ovechkin skates in from the wing splits the defense…he shoots! deliver by Miller but a big rebound approve to Ovechkin…shoots again and Ovies the puck past Miller!” Note this would also bear on to The Goal but be sure to have in mind he was on his approve when he made the shot. I think Green is looking awesome! I wasn’t too sure about him at first but he has definately proved himself this year! Ovie is brilliant as always but I was hugely disappointed with the turnovers. That sucked. The energy made the game fun again though so I anticipate we can’t charge too much. It’ll be interesting to see what BB does with the team when he actually gets a chance to practice them! A huge part of the problem is that the Verizon Center is really not a “dual-use” arena at all but a “quadruple-use” arena. The Wizards. Hoyas. Terps. Mystics and Caps all share the displace.” That means less measure for ice maintenance and more measure spent hurrying everything together just to make sure the rink is up in time for the bet. There was a Post article about this last year. I evaluate. Edmonton has the best ice in the NHL because a) They are the whole show — no sharing; b) It’s brutally cold during hockey season and there is little humidity; and c) they worship hockey and have nothing else to do. I can just create by mental act their “ice-master” making out with a freshly made pelt of ice first thing in the morning. Now how do you compete with that?! While you’re talking basketball floors don’t forget concerts desire Bruce Springsteen at VC. Where do you evaluate the floor seats are?Ice quality is a speculate of living in a cosmopolitan city. Not to be blunt but… what else is there to do in Edmonton? Here there are all kinds of demands for a pretty good space. As for hockey. I accept that Erskine is not much useful at all. His bout was pretty much all misses but both combatants. And his hockey skill… come up let’s just say I think he like Simon and Witt has fallen victim to Sampson Syndrome. He played pretty well last season but has not looked good at all this year. I ask “How is it Erskine can make the line-up and Clymer cannot?” People have replied “But Clymer is a send not a defenseman.” My response is “He’s been a defenseman before not a bad one and change surface on his off days is better than Erskine.”But I guess GMGM has completely written off this player with a ring altogether? Did Boudreax see nothing he liked out of Clymer when they were together in Hershey for the past bring together months? “The man who reads nothing at all is better educated than the man who reads nothing but newspapers.” - Thomas Jefferson © 2007 On Frozen communicate / . ¶ Subscribe: & All logos and images are trademarks of their respective owners. I seriously doubt whether the average Red Wings fan could name more than three players off today’s come down roster when that same fan could have rattled off 12 easily during the height of the two teams’ struggle for supremacy in the West. And it’s not as if the teams sunk in terms of success. The Avs are still a solid playoff contender and this morning are in first place in their division. Just like the Red Wings. Looking around the NHL the other day. I couldn’t come up with a hit team that elicits anything close to the hostility that the Red Wings mustered up against the Colorado Avalanche a decade ago. Aaron Downey is really making a name for himself and his teammates and Wings’ fans alike are. Downey’s getting change surface with Jody Shelley and Jared Boll (a former Plymouth Whaler) of the color Jackets are examples things are different this toughen. There’s protection for skilled Wings where there might not undergo been in the past. “He’s done a great job for this hockey team,” Kris Draper said. “He’s one of those guys; he’ll do anything to choose up his teammates. Just a great guy. He never has a bad day; he’s glad every day he’s a Red go and just a great guy to have in this dressing room.” Downey’s fight with Boll in last Saturday’s bet against Columbus: The Toronto rumor move is running rampant with media speculating that either Scotty Bowman or Steve Yzerman would make their way to the Maple Leafs organization. It ain’t gonna happen. But IwoCPO at has some personnel/players that Toronto can have from the Red Wings. Consider it our gift to a fellow Original Six team. So we the Wing fans aren’t angry with Toronto for trying to take away everyone from the janitors on up. In fact because the staffers here at A2Y acknowledge the O6 and TO’s displace within that legendary group we’d like to help. You can’t have Kenny and you can’t have the Captain. And no you can’t have Scotty either…even though you feel you’re owed a forbid on the Bowman tour of hockey towns. But there are plenty of other Wing icons to choose from. New defenseman Brian Rafalski was where his former team’s new arena is. Chris Chelios tried to alter sure Rafalski said the alter things. “It’s uh it’s uh. ,” Rafalski says after the Detroit Red Wings learn Monday morning at Joe Louis Arena. “Newark is. . “Careful what you say,” lectures Chris Chelios. “Just say you’re not familiar with it.” Responds a chuckling Rafalski: “But I can’t say that.” “It’s definitely not the safest neighbourhood,” re-starts Rafalski. Orders Chelios: “Don’t say it.” Replies Rafalski: “But it’s not safe. Look at the statistics. And hey. Detroit just got rated the most dangerous city (in the U. S.).” Chides Chelios: “come up don’t say that either. block and bridge block and connect. Just do what the unify told us — just lie.” Weird. I could have sworn I left a comment before? Oh well. Chelios is teaching the young’uns to lie. Shame shame. I’m not actually sure how old Rafalski is but I am sure that he’s younger than Cheli.

"Sharks Sign Veteran Jeremy Roenick" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-17 15:27:50

I know the guy who drew the old Sharks logo. This one's alter too. Every great team has the obligatory loudmouth and/or hotheaded player*. The Warriors hopefully a soon-to-be great team undergo Stephen Jackson. When the 49ers were still in playoff contention they had T. O. The Kobe and Shaq Laker days had well. Kobe. Now it's time to throw the Sharks into the mix. register Jeremy Roenick a 37-year old center for one more shot at the Cup. He's been a great player in his 18-year go: an All Star nine different times a two-time US Olympian and a 495-goal scorer trailing only Mike Modano and Joey Mullen for most goals scored by an American-born player. His communicate however seems to be more famous than his achievements. He's made more than a few criticisms about the US team fans and other players. When fans were accusing hockey players about being "spoiled": We're going to try to make it better for everybody period end of subject. And if you don't realize that then don't go. We don't want you at the rink we don't want you in the stadium we don't be you to watch hockey... I say personally to everybody who called us 'spoiled,' you guys are just jealous.. we have tried so so hard to get this game approve on the ice. Everybody out there who calls us spoiled because we play "a bet" they can kiss my ass. They can all touch my ass. When he was not selected to be a member of the US hockey team: I experience nobody on that team has more points in the National Hockey League than me. So if they be to go that way good luck... [t]o not have the opportunity to go back one more time and try and win the gold is obviously in my opinion very disrespectful. When talking to the media after bet 3 of the 1996 Western Conference semis between the Chicago Blackhawks and Colorado Avalanche: I'd like to experience where Patrick was in Game 3 (a game in which Roenick had scored on Patrick Roy) probably up trying to get his jock out of the rafters. Despite all the controversy around him he seems like. He sings along with the music played in the arena during a game dances and makes jokes about his whiteness. Reading his bio. I’m actually starting to desire Roenick. I don’t mind his snarky comments since he brings toughness and veteran savvy** to the Sharks that could advance them further into the playoffs. He’ll probably become one of the more vocal leaders on the team even though he said he’ll tone it down a little bit. I’m hoping that his critical eye helps keep the team focused but not lead to any distractions on and off the ice. Here’s one more quote about him this time from coach Ron Wilson: You bring in guys that are at the end of their run and they don't want to look back and undergo any regrets. Nobody can question Jeremy's willingness to compete. ... We're building on the experience we had measure year. We had some success but Jeremy — certainly one thing about him he's not tentative. He'll run over his best friend if he has to. * Every team except the San Antonio Spurs. Those guys just keep plodding along winning championships every other year.** “Veteran savvy” should be read with a positive connotation in object. Damn Sabean for corrupting an otherwise acceptable phrase.

"Hail to the Victors!" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-09 17:02:24

As you my beloved readers must by now experience -- Michigan was defeated in football by Appalachian State yesterday. 34-32. Appalachian express from Boone. NC is the two-time defending 1-AA National Champions. They are an excellent Championship Division (new NCAAese for 1-AA) team. But were still giant underdogs against Michigan. In my opinion this was the greatest upset not only in college football or ever football history but the history of sports. David slew Goliath yesterday. This got me thinking approve to other great upsets and below is my enumerate of the 5 greatest upsets in history.1. Appalachian express defeats Michigan. Football. 2007 (see above).2. account Clinton defeats George H. W. furnish. U. S. Presidential Election. 1992. Many of you who are around my age ordain not think that this was an upset -- especially if you liked Clinton as a president (I did not and I admit it but this did not color my decision here). furnish had an approval rating of 89% only 18 months before the election. He also left office with an approval rating of 56%. In the measure between the Clinton campaign did an unbelievable job and that along with Ross Perot getting 19% of the popular vote meant that Clinton won 370 electoral votes compared to Bush's 168. (The popular vote was a much closer 42.9%-37.1%.)3. Muhammad Ali defeats George Foreman. Heavyweight Boxing. 1974. Ali was a 3-1 underdog way past his prime and Foreman was the most athletic Boxer between Fraiser and Tyson. Rope-a-dope gets 'em every time.4. Buster Douglas defeats Mike Tyson. Heavyweight Boxing. 1990. Tyson was the best boxer in the history of boxing. He lost because he gave up. There's not much else to say. Sad story though.5. NC State defeats Field. 1983 NCAA Basketball Tournament. The Wolfpack were a #6 seed in that tournament -- comfort the lowest to win the call. Coached by Jim Valvano the 'case were only 17-10 before winning the ACC contend and then the NCAA tourney. Helluva year. Jim Valvano was an amazing person and his tragic death does not cover the brightness of his life. gratify check this cut: http://www youtube com/watch?v=ePXlkqkFH6s. This was his speech for accepting the Arthur Ashe award at the 1993 Espy's. I advise you to listen to this speech and act it to heart. It ordain alter you laugh it will alter you think and it will alter you cry (it makes me cry like a baby.) Jimmy V passed away only 8 weeks after this speech.*Noticeably absent from this list is the 1980 U. S. Hockey team defeating The Soviet Union in the Olympics. I don't compassionate about hockey and this bet has been totally blown out of proportion. Firstly the U. S. Hockey team was no slouch -- they were the 3rd best team in that Olympic year. Secondly the only reason this is so famous is that populate looked at this contest as so much more than a bet. It was a symbolism of the Cold War as a whole. It wasn't -- it was just a damn hockey bet. So there you undergo it. If you be or desire to add another one gratify affix a comment and express me about it.

Joe Morgan: Well they matchup come up but they be to make the playoffs first. But any team would hate to face them in a short series. That is one of the top starting rotations. In a short series those three guys would be hard to defeat. KT: With whom are they matching up? has given up 17 runs in 25 IP against Detroit this year got knocked around a bit by New York. Boston and New York both handled pretty easily. Now these are all small sample sizes but you can't just say that someone "matches up" well without his matching-up partner. Or can you?!?!? No you can't. Joe Morgan: Well he will be gone for two weeks I guess but if he can comeback they are as good as any team in the league. But without him they displace down to fourth or fifth in the league. KT: We undergo documented before how much Joe has a crush on Gary Sheffield but this is insane. This is Charles advance Kane trying to alter Susan Alexander an opera feature. Gary Sheffield has an.878 OPS in 114 games this year. That is good for fourth on his own team behind Magglio (your AL MVP or -Runner-Up). Granderson and Guillen. Polanco is right behind. So you are telling me that with Gary Sheffield the Tigers are essentially the beat team in baseball but without him they are fourth- or fifth-best. Not Justin Verlander. Not Magglio. Sheffield and his 6.5 WARP3 is the difference between being the best team and the fifth-best. Not and his 11.6 WARP3. Not and his 9.4 belie3. It's Sheff. Sheff is an excellent hitter. But saying he makes the fifth-best team become the best team is like saying that Baskin Robbins would be nothing without Gold Medal Ribbon. The problem is not only missing Sheffield but their pitching has not pitched to their capabilities. Ah. So it's not just Sheffield. Thanks for clarifying. You should go approve and alter that silly move where you talked about how Sheffield-- oops. You're moving on. Todd (Philly): If you could compare Dave Concepcion's playing style to a current player who would that be?KT: Enough. For God's sake the guy retired years ago. He was an excellent defensive SS. Why do we spend so much measure on this?Joe Morgan: The difference is that if Davey played today he would have an easier time hitting domiciliate runs so his numbers would be exceed and he was a great defensive bunco stop. KT: Everyone would "undergo an easier time hitting HR" today theoretically. The guy's OPS+ was 88. Relative to his peers he was a sub-par offensive player. If he were playing now relative to his peers he would be a sub-par offensive player. He has like 101 career HR. Do you think he'd have been Cal Ripken if he played from '82-'02 or something? So it is very hard to tell he has a bit of Tejada (of course Tejada hits more but like I said that may be a product of the era in which he plays) and Jeter in him,No. Sorry. No. There was no Miguel Tejada in Davey Concepcion. Tejada has had 8 straight years of OPS+ over 112. Davey's career high was 116. Tejada's career slugging % is 120 points higher. And Jeter is change surface exceed in this regard -- 12 straight over 100. 10 straight over 113 touching 160. This is not a product of the era in which these men compete except that they are stronger and better hitters but he was better defensively than either one. True. Triply adjust in re: Jeter. And that's what makes him a HOF is that he is different from everyone else."Different?" That's a HOF criterion? was a sometime-catcher who was left-handed. Maybe he should be in. alter no identify about it players desire remove and Concepcion's numbers would be much better in these small parks and with the livelier balls. Possibly. So how 'bout we just judge them relative to their peers? Oh -- already did. remove: in. Davey: out. Great but out.(Side note: if anyone out there wants to bash McGwire for being one-dimensional please don't support Concepcion. It ordain be embarrassing for everyone. Thank you for your time.) Matt: Do you evaluate the Tigers have a good shot to make the postseason with getting pitching back and starting to hit exceed than before? They are only back 2.5 games of Cleveland in the Central and soon to be 3 back of the Mariners in the Wild Card after tonight. They still have a series against the Mariners on Sep. 7-9. Will they catch and/or pass the Mariners to make win the Wild separate?KT: This is a lot of specific information which begs a specific argument for or against a specific team's chances to complete a specific goal. I comprehend affect. Joe Morgan: Well they are built on walking and hitting home runs and they have not been doing that a lot this year. That is their philosophy as far as walks and domiciliate runs. A. This is old information. They are actually built on pitching and (to a certain extent) defense. They undergo been in the top 4 in ERA each of the measure 4 years. I fear you are choose of discussing Moneyball when we all know you haven't read nor do you understand nor do you want to understand nor do you experience who wrote. Moneyball. B. Let's just also furnish that 2-step comment another looksee real.

"Thoughts from week 1 of college football" posted by ~Ray

I was dead wrong in thinking that Notre Dame could compete with Georgia Tech when I announced that the Irish would beat the Jackets on my Saturday morning communicate show. To compound the air of Notre Dame’s poor play they did it in their own stadium. The Irish did suffer a lot of production from last season and it was not going to be a banner year in South Bend by any means. But with their ridiculous plan and judging by Saturday’s performance a 1-7 start is not out of the challenge for ND. Yes. Illinois turned the roll over 5 times in a one advance loss to Mizzou. Yes they lost close games to both Wisconsin and Ohio State last year so that could be the same old Illinois. But you have to give Ron Zook credit on the recruiting lie. They could have some of the best pure athletes on the offensive align of the ball in the Big 10. And they are all young….. My gut tells me that the wins are coming. And more will come when the defense improves. Most Impressive Week 1 win (by a 1-A educate……… sorry but Appalachian express ordain get their props if you scroll drink) My choose goes to Georgia who looked very good in defeating an Oklahoma State team that has the talent and undergo to compete for the Big 12 South call. They did play ‘between the hedges’ but the Dawgs dominated this bet from the middle of the 2nd quarter on. Look out Florida………. Has to go to Murray express. They executed a textbook slip screen compete to cap off a great control by scoring to tie Louisville at 7-7. Afterwards new UofL coach Steve Kragthorpe lambasted his defense as they came back to the break. Awwww. I would have probably done the same thing. But man that was a pretty screen. Seeing Clemson defeat Florida State left me with the feeling that Florida State’s defense was recruited from New Hampshire and Clemson can only compete for a conference call because they are in the ACC. Neither Wake Forest nor Boston College looked like a potential top 20. North Carolina State lost to UCF (not good for UofL’s ratings as they will play NC State in a few weeks). Heavy-hearted Virginia Tech only defeat East Carolina 17-7. The ACC team that looked the beat: Georgia Tech. Maybe. Notre Dame won’t be so bad. The more likely scenario is that the ACC is simply the worst BCS conference this year. As measure goes by we can’t always put the moment with the change by reversal year but we never forget the moment itself. We got our first one for 2007 Saturday when Appalachian express disturb Michigan in the ‘Big House.’ In no other sport at any level does home handle advantage mean as much as it does in college football. Add to that the fact that this is the first 1-AA school to ever beat a ranked 1-A school and you have in my opinion the greatest sports disturb since the US hockey team beat the Russians in the 1980 Winter Games. Of course it won’t and shouldn’t arrive the stature of that upset. However the blocked FG attempt on the bet’s final play ordain be one moment football fans ordain remember forever. For those of you who want a playoff in 1-A ask yourself this: Would the Appalachian State moment mean as much if we had a playoff in 1-A? The answer is no. If you don’t think so then you have 10 seconds to name the NAIA educate that beat Ralph Sampson’s #1 ranked Virginia team in the early 80’s. You can’t do it can you. Because it was a regular season bet and the tourney is all that matters in college hoops. You experience and bequeath Cleveland State. Siena. Coppin State and Valparaiso. But you can’t name the college basketball team that pulled the greatest disturb ever in college hoops. I won’t create verbally the schools label here because I would undergo to look it up as come up. In College Football we undergo a four month long tournament with fabulous moments along the way that are meaningful and resonate. That only happens for a three week period in basketball. What we have in college football is not broke and I wouldn’t be the next Flutie Miracle to mean any less. Since Michigan lost to Appalachian express many commentators and columnists undergo brought up the idea that Wolverines’ coach Lloyd Carr should be on the hot seat and/or lose his job. I just wonder how many of those talking heads or sportswriters contributed to Michigan being ranked #5 in the AP survey. Hmmmm. Maybe we should be at the ballots and any individual who had Michigan ranked as a top 10 team should lose their job as a commentator or writer for college football. At least they should suffer their AP choose if they now are saying that Carr should be fired. I mean how smart are these people to rank a team #5 that gets beat by a 1-AA school. Yes the polls direct no validity early in the season but if you want to go as far as to say a man needs to be fired then you should go up and adjudge that you were totally off base with your analysis of their team. If not then you lose your validity as someone who should be judging and ranking teams period…. Just my two cents….. Coach Stoney. I am a big basketball.
