"NHL Expands" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-27 20:01:07

Can ya believe this shit? The NHL is expanding again!Per my local paper the Daily Republic. I picked up this wee bit a data in their “Deals” report in the sports section of the August 17th. 2007 edition. This is the inform you guys: San Antonio and Hershey teams are now in the NHL. No bullshit -- it was right there in create. I’m thinkin: What the copulate is Bettman up to now. I mean what the ba-dinky? Newspapers don’t feed ya lies do they? I mean my communicate here is often times full a shit - but that’s cuz “I’m allowed!”. But don’t newspapers undergo to cater ya the straight inform? Ehh?copulate Bettman - maybe this is a good deal. San Antonio in recent years has grown bigger then Dallas and Dallas has the Stars so why shouldn’t San Antone undergo a team. In my visits to the home of the Alamo over the years I’ve seen that they’ve had the Iguanas that were in the CHL and then there were the Dragons that were in the IHL. So why not now shouldn’t San Antonio have the Rampage in the NHL instead of the AHL. Can you create by mental act the excitement that journeyman tough guy. Pete Vandemeer was feeling when he open out that he was joining the NHL’s new San Antonio aggroup. That’s what the “Deals” blurb said right there with the another blurb that said left wing. Tanner Glass agreed to terms with the Florida Panthers. I’m telling ya those folks in Bexar County. Texas are in for some excitement with Vandemeer. He’s led three different leagues in penalty minutes over the measure eleven years. In 1998/1999 he led the UHL with 390 minutes in 1999/2000 he led the ECHL with 457 minutes and then in 2003/2004 he led the AHL with 398 penalty minutes. The dude plays some old time hockey ehh? Like to see him and Sean Avery move a bit wouldn’t ya guys? The little spec of text about Hershey under the NHL heading stated that give Potulny was joining the Bears. I didn’t know much about Grant so I Googled him and found out that he’d gone the beat term with the University of Minnesota and then did some time with the Binghamton Senators. egest he’s Senators’ property having been drafted by them in the fifth round of 2000. Now I’m sure that everybody in Hershey. Pennsylvania was excited that the Bears were going NHL after fifty or sixty years ehh. But now I’m becoming a little leery of this shit I construe. I’m thinking that Hershey really couldn’t support an NHL franchise. It’s definitely a great town for chocolate yup. But the Bears have been associated with the Capitals lately. So what gives? So I go back and explore Vandemeer too and low and behold I see that he’s been property of the Capitals. Shit are the gears spinning in my head now! I’ve got to evaluate that this section of sports transactions listed in my local paper just might be a conspiracy coming out of Washington. DC. There’s just too much co-inky-dinky for it to be anything else. Those folks over there in our nation’s capital are so good at spinning the inform that this has got to be the case. It’s got to be the case ehh? I’m beginning to evaluate that this is all a big fat lie. The Caps are just trying to stress out the upper management of all the other teams. The other NHL management alter are now trying to figure out how to rewrite their schedules and alter new hotel and flight arrangements to conform to the coming changes? That shit can just really throw ya off your bet ya know. I've been there done that. Yeah its gotta be a big spin by the Caps …....... Or was it just a stupid typo in my local cover? The season’s coming soon and your summer leagues are winding down so skate hard my friends and

"New IHL to use old records, scrap UHL marks" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-03 13:58:10

must be called on the templatebefore this macro is called. This is because the categorytreeitempassive5 pbo file is setting theglobal variables @catCount and @catIDString that is used in this macro. The limitation is that this file only accounts for up to 15 categories. If there are more than 15 categories in the system in the future more lines ordain need to be added at the end of the register toaccount for that.--> When six teams from the United Hockey unify re-formed this summer as the International Hockey League one big question that wasn’t answered was what would come about to the records set in the UHL? The six-team league formalized what had desire been suspected Wednesday when it adopted the records of the old IHL which played from 1945 to 2001 and it determined the UHL records will no longer be recognized. “Changing the name of the league was a portion of what we were all excited about back in June (when the new IHL was formed),” said Fort Wayne Komets president Michael Franke whose aggroup left the old IHL for the UHL in 1999. “But everything had to go through the proper channels and we had to take it very very slowly. “We conclude that the IHL was around for a desire long time. Several of the cities that are in our unify now and may be in the future they were in the IHL for many many years. ... This was a very very important part of the changeover from one league to the other. I evaluate this also shows this isn’t the United Hockey League with a new name.” So this means some records set by the Komets in the UHL such as Kevin St. Pierre’s all-time shutout record of 26 ordain be purely a be of history and no-longer challengeable. But records once treated the same way are now fair game again such as most career points in the IHL (1,252 by former Komet Len Thornson) or most goals (532 by former Komet Scott Gruhl). Five of the new IHL’s franchises – assemble Wayne. Kalamazoo. Flint. turn Huron and Muskegon – played in the old IHL. Bloomington did not. But the old IHL was considered a AAA-level go one go below the NHL when it folded. “Really the truth be known the IHL was several different levels over the years it was a unify,” Franke said. “There were years the IHL was not considered AAA. In the 1970s many characterized the IHL as a goon league. Over the course if its existence it changed many times over and the players ordain express you that. There was tremendous talent in the league for many years when the NHL only had six teams. .. and it was of course very strong again in the 1990s. Things changed a lot.” Besides. Franke is so confident in the aim of play the new IHL ordain have he doesn’t think fans ordain charge about players like Komets goaltender Kevin Reiter competing with the history set by someone desire Reno Zanier or Robbie Irons. “Who knows? Being totally honest with you. I think there will be teams in our league this year who can on any given night can play with teams in the (AAA-level) American Hockey League,” Franke said. “That’s how strong I feel about our league this year.” No determination has yet been made on what championship trophies the new IHL ordain use.

"K-Wings hire Curran as coach" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-10 16:18:47

By Pam Shebestpshebest@kalamazoogazette com388-2730 KALAMAZOO -- Brian Curran. 43 was named Kalamazoo Wings continue instruct and met fans and media for the first time Tuesday afternoon at Wings Stadium. "I'm like a kid like I'm 21 years old again and I can't act to get started," said Curran who was head coach of the United Hockey unify's Quad City Mallards measure year and has signed a one-year assure with Kalamazoo. Curran is familiar with Kalamazoo not only because he coached against the K-Wings the last two years but he also played for the old International Hockey League team in 1995-96. "I was here for 18 games and probably spent 500 minutes in the penalty box," Curran quipped. The UHL has become the new IHL and Curran said his goal with the K-Wings is. "Winning the championship. That's the only thing that matters to me. "attach (Reeds former K-Wings instruct) put together a fantastic group of guys here but we have to develop that rapport with each other." Curran said the aggroup already has a great nucleus in place but his first priority is going to be finding a goaltender. "I was talking to a lot of the players this morning and making some calls to agents. That ordain be a priority," Curran said. "fasten Smith (a rookie goalie recently signed by the K-Wings) played for me measure year. I think he has a lot of potential. He's young (23) but he's one of the exceed young guys I've seen. He just needs desire all of us be at times confidence." Curran said he's already talked with Smith and he's also made a call to sight an equipment manager. Chris acquire who filled that role measure year is not returning. As a player. Curran was known for his physicality and earned the call "Colonel," which has stuck through his coaching days. K-Wings general manager Wade Welsh said the three main criteria in his examine for a new coach were integrity communication and winning. "I be a coach who is honest and up-front whether good bad or indifferent," Welsh said. "I also be a coach who can communicate not only with the lie office and players but also the media and fans. "And probably the most important. I be a coach who conducts himself come up in the community. But the ultimate goal is winning the new IHL championship."

"NHL pre-season games at AHL arenas" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-09-30 16:48:10

I experience that NHL teams compete pre-season games at their AHL interact team arenas on occasion. Does Calgary ever do that? Did they ever play in Omaha. St. John etc.? Do you evaluate they would ever believe playing in the Quad Cities in the next bring together of years? Just curious. The second year the Quad Cities had hockey in the UHL our team had a working agreement with the Colorado come down and they played a pre-season exhibition game in Moline vs the Washington Capitals. I believe. I want to say it was during the 96-97 toughen but don't direct me to that. None of the BIG names at the measure dressed but it was entertaining especially for the "very new to hockey" market that we were at the measure. Hoody Well we're playing one bet in Saskatoon but thats a WHL team.. not really affliated to us... I however have no ideas if we ever held an exhibition game in the arena of any of our prevoius AHL affliates I think we are starting to see a turn where teams are playing neutral site games to alter a little more money. For example the bet in Saskatoon is a Panthers home game. I'm guessing 7000 fans is as much or exceed than they'd see in Miami for a pre-season bet. The other bet I'm aware of is in Winnipeg; and the last 2 seasons it's been the Coyotes instead of the Canucks hosting the game. Once again 14,970 is a exceed number in Winnipeg than when they get in Phoenix. Well the Flames did compete an exhibition bet in Chicago a couple of years ago. Quad Cities can probalby displace as many populate as Chicago can for an exhibition bet.. so long as they don't know it's account Wirtz getting the money. Calgary played Hartford in an exhibition game here in Saint John within the first few years of the Baby Flames being here (1994-1996 range) and that was the only game the Flames ever played here. I evaluate they might undergo also held training dwell here a few times as come up but I was only little at the measure. I evaluate if I ever get a terminal disease I am going to contract a hummer and right merchandise wrongs for a day. As mentioned above there seems to be a few more exhibition games going to third celebrate sites but I'd be suprised if the Flames would have a bet in QC. To do that another aggroup (such as Fla) whould undergo to have a 'home' bet there (which is the situation for the Saskatoon Flames/Panthers game). All the Flames domiciliate games ordain stay in Calgary because they are included in season ticket packages and with the toughen book sales being so high plus all the extra $ you alter on food etc it wouldn't make comprehend to act the game out of the Dome. Preseason (like the affix season) is a cash cow for the owners - they don't pay salaries for those games. So they case in as many as they can ideally in their home rink. There isn't a whole lot of incentive for Canadian based teams to jaunt to the US for preseason. The Panthers on the other hand be to altercate their prospects most of whom are currently based on the far align of the 49th. So it makes comprehend for them to travel in the early stages. I evaluate we are starting to see a turn where teams are playing neutral site games to alter a little more money. For example the bet in Saskatoon is a Panthers domiciliate bet. I'm guessing 7000 fans is as much or exceed than they'd see in Miami for a pre-season game. The other game I'm aware of is in Winnipeg; and the measure 2 seasons it's been the Coyotes instead of the Canucks hosting the game. Once again 14,970 is a exceed be in Winnipeg than when they get in Phoenix. As mentioned above there seems to be a few more exhibition games going to third party sites but I'd be suprised if the Flames would undergo a game in QC. To do that another aggroup (such as Fla) whould have to have a 'domiciliate' bet there (which is the situation for the Saskatoon Flames/Panthers game). All the Flames domiciliate games will stay in Calgary because they are included in season ticket packages and with the season ticket sales being so high plus all the extra $ you alter on food etc it wouldn't make comprehend to act the bet out of the Dome. not necessarily adjust. The CBA allows up to 9 pre-season games. The Flames undergo 8 this year. 4 at home. They could add another game in the QC and not alter the 4 domiciliate dates for season ticket holders When the do work team was in flavor Lake they played a bet here. I think it was against the US olympic aggroup. It was early in the Exhibition plan and most of the players ended up on the flavor Lake Golden shoot roster anyway.
