The Ottawa Senators goaltender Ray Emery returned to action for the first time this young NHL season since under going surgery on his wrist over the summer. Emery made 31 saves in his appearance and helped the Sens to a 4-1 win over the Florida Panthers. In Emery's absence goaltender Martin Gerber has led the Senators to the top of the NHL only losing one game during that march. Gerber has been reborn hard (to steal a quote from Gunnery Seargent Hartman) and has definitely been a bright spot... on a team loaded with bright spots. GM Bryan Murray has a problem but one that most teams would relish. Two number one goaltenders playing light's out hockey. Keeping both as insurance would be prudent however holding onto Gerber and his salary may make it difficult to retain both Jason Spezza and Wade Redden and with Gerber's stock being as high as it is right now trading him even with a large contract would be much easier to do now. There are a few teams out there who would be interested (see Los Angeles... if LaBarbera can't shoulder the load there). Keep an eye on the rumor mill this week it will be very entertaining if nothing else. The New York Rangers played their best defensive game of the season yesterday afternoon. Unfortunately for them the Boston Bruins played theirs too and just a bit better. Bruins forward Phil Kessel scored the only goal in the shootout and goaltender Manny Fernandez made 26 saves to record the 1-0 shutout win. Rangers forward Martin Straka broke his finger blocking a Zdeno Chara slapshot (after the first shot that hit his hand he actually got down in front of Chara and blocked a second one... that's just tough) and did not return to the game. I think it's safe to say that the Philadelphia Flyers are the real deal. Last night they defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 3-2 in OT. Flyers forward Simon Gagne scored twice including the game winner in the extra frame. Philadelphia 's Martin Biron continued his amazing play in net stopping 40 Hurricane's shots. If the Canadian media isn't talking about who's gonna be the number goalie in Ottawa it's because they will be writing about how bad the Toronto Maple Leafs are playing. The Leafs surrendered another 2 goal lead this time to the Chicago Blackhawks and ultimately fell 6-4. The Maple Leafs did hold a 3-1 lead in the third until the wheels came off and just about everyone on the Hawks scored. Raycroft will be hearing it today. San Jose Sharks forward Jeremy Roenick scored the 498th goal of his career last night and what proved to be the game winner as the Sharks shutdown the Nashville Predators 3-0. Sharks keeper Evgeni Nabokov made 22 saves to record his first shutout of the season. Bill Guerin started scoring late but now he can't stop. The New York Islanders captain potted the game winner in OT to help his club beat the New Jersey Devils 4-3. Buzzkill of last night for me was Atlanta Thrashers keeper Johan Hedberg. After looking solid in net against the New York Rangers two nights earlier. Hedberg was bombarded and allowed 5 Tampa Bay Lightning goals before being yanked. The Lightning went on to win the game 6-2 and further destroy my fantasy league championship hopes. Can anyone say trade? Only two games tonight but both interesting ones. The Columbus Blue Jackets are off to a franchise best start while the Canucks.. they just haven't started yet. The Colorado Avalanche will visit the red hot Minnesota Wild who have once again begun their season on a good note. Enjoy the games!

"Next Years RFA List? Who Should The Habs Go For?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-20 21:50:28

My personal favorites are Getzlaf and Semin… Mostly because both players have something the Habs are missing. Getzlaf is the complete case. He has hands coat speed and even playoff experience (won the cup). Semin has scoring touch he might be overshadowed by Ovechkin but damn is he quick and agile. Also seeing as Edmonton stole Penner this passed off-season chances are one of these money hungry guys ordain be leaving their teams. Anaheim DucksGetzlaf. Ryan C 22Miller. Drew L 23Perry. "Blades of Glory (NHL Round-up Week Three)" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-12 17:24:32

If you're looking for Week 8 NFL Picks you can sight them. I thought yesterday was Thursday and I forget that tomorrow's Friday not Saturday.. oops... Anyway. Eastern ConferencePhiladelphia Flyers: Dunno what they're doing but they're doing something alter. Six and two in a probably underrated division is nothing to laugh at which kind of sucks for us Devils fans... New York Islanders: ordain someone gratify express these dudes that just because the Red Sox are in the World Series does not mean it is the 1980s all over again? Pittsburgh Penguins: More or less where they should be object they got the wrong teams in lie of them and the wrong teams behind. New Jersey Devils: It's a decrease go away and Brodeur's high GAA is worrying though a administer of that no disbelieve is the Devils' lack of defense. However they finally play their first domiciliate game on Saturday and my anticipate is at.500 or exceed before I go home for Thanksgiving. New York Rangers: forgive me while I inform and express emotion. Dude you are tied for fewest amount of wins in the unify and uh you lost to Atlanta an 0-6 team. I thought you were supposed to be good?Ottawa Senators: 8-1 with the highest PK percentage in the eastern conference? Got my choose for the best aggroup right now. It's gratifying to see a Canadian aggroup do come up.. but of all the Canadian teams. Ottawa might be the one I least be to do well. Oops. Boston Bruins: Funny seeing these guys up here. I experience but apparently the Sox and Pats and Celtics have teamed up together to rub off on these guys. Montreal Canadians: What's this? Another Canadian team above.500? Yay! Maybe is benefiting team morale?Toronto Maple Leafs: 37 goals scored? Good. 42 goals given up? Bad. Please understand that the basic rule of hockey is to advance more goals than your opponent. Buffalo Sabres: I experience having 80 degree weather in late October in upstate New York is whacked out but c'mon. You guys compete indoors. Carolina Hurricanes: Maybe the most underrated aggroup in the East. Apparently hockey works better in the South than baseball. Who wudda thunk it?Tampa Bay Lightning: Get yourself another line and then we'll talk. Washington Capitals: I ran into a bunch of Caps fans drink in Maryland. You're starting to depress them by fading... Florida Panthers: desire the Jets and Miami you guys will never undergo to mind as desire as the Thrashers are playing in your division. Atlanta Thrashers: A bring together years ago the Devils beat you lot 9-0. Why am I thinking that we'll see such a score with you lot at the wrong end of it before the toughen's over this time around? Western ConferenceDetroit Red Wings: Again did you honestly expect them anywhere else? There's a good cerebrate Detroit's a hockey town. St. Louis Blues: 91% PK usually does a aggroup good. Too early to tell if the team is for real for real or just off to a quick start but should be interesting to check. Chicago Blackhawks: Odd to see them up here but well done. Anyway the 3-3 record at home isn't a good sign; generally you want to alter sure you win all of your domiciliate games. Columbus color Jackets: You act playing desire junior high kids. I'll start treating you desire them. C'mon just ask your Minnesota brethren: winning can be fun!Nashville Predators: Whoever thought it'd be a good idea to give Atlanta a run for their money was.. uh.. wrong. Very very wrong. Minnesota Wild: It's really gratifying to see a aggroup do so come up in a city where the sport means so much like when the Yankees win in New York or the Cowboys (ycch!) in Dallas or whathaveyou. Calgary Flames: Back where they belong. Colorado Avalanche: Ok. I give you this week cos everyone cares about the Rockies right now but when the Rockies win it all (or not) try to start winning okies?Vancouver Cancucks: You lot are exceed than this. Edmonton Oilers: You lot are WAY better than this. San Jose Sharks: 1-2 at home and 4-1 on the road? Who do you think you are? The Devils circa 1999?Dallas Stars: ordain probably advance San Jose. Who would have thought hockey would be a hit in Texas?Anaheim Mighty Ducks: Uh aren't you lot supposed to desire be defending the cup? What good are Niedermeyers if you don't argue?Los Angeles Kings: Well if you try hard enough maybe you'll be good enough to advance that other SoCal team?Phoenix Coyotes: Guess deserts and hockey don't mix. Back after bet 2 with postgame notes. In the meantime. I've got a apparel to finish and a few books to construe.

Posted on 2007-12-01 23:07:52

Well basketball camp is finally getting to the 'game' re-create which means Opening Night can't be too far off and Midnight Madness has occurred in the college world but as for a season already under way sorry folks but again it's NHL-only. EASTERN CONFERENCEPhiladelphia Flyers: It won't measure. Anyway it's not like they're running away with the division. Not that you can run away with the division after three weeks... New York Islanders: Irony is the spice of life so of cover the one NYC team that no one talks about ever is ahead of those other two... Pittsburgh Penguins: Crosby. 'Nuff said. NY Rangers: I thought these guys were supposed to be the beat in the conference this year?NJ Devils: Unlike the Jets they'll pick up and start winning more especially when play at home. However. Brodeur's less-than-stellar efforts behind the net ordain be create for concern if they continue. Ottawa Senators: Uh. Yeah. Um. They're good?Buffalo Sabres: alter approve where I expect them to be especially given that the Bills are going nowhere. Boston Bruins: Not quite sure what Boston's doing in third but I evaluate we'll find out soon enough. Montreal Canadians: Right now the Hab Nots. Sorry. I've been in a punny mood all week and well. I don't speak cut. Toronto Maple Leafs: I thought these guys were supposed to be desire the Yankees of the NHL or something? Guess I thought wrong. Unless they manage to have killer January. February. March and April... Carolina Hurricanes: be in the Carolinas and sick of NASCAR and football? Check out a hockey bet. These guys are pretty good. Tampa Bay Lightning: alter where they should be: good not great. Washington Capitals: Yep start was much too good to be adjust. Florida Panthers: .500 isn't too bad but this isn't basketball or the NFC. You be exceed than that if you be in in May. Atlanta Thrashers: Okay you guys are bad. Firing the instruct in October? Even baseball teams don't fire managers in April. Seriously even the Jets and Syracuse have wins right now. You are so not going to have fond memories of 2007.... WESTERN CONFERENCEDetroit Red Wings: I swear to G-d I almost wrote Detroit Wed Rings. I've got my brother's wedding on my object a little too much. Oh and would you really expect Detroit anywhere else?St. Louis Blues: Lookie here! Seems a team's finally realized that if you score more goals in a game than the other team you'll do this thing it's called winning... Chicago Blackhawks: See entry on Boston. Columbus color Jackets: Still haven't gotten my communicate on playing like an expansion team. Nashville Predators: The jerseys are alter. The last displace is not. Minnesota Wild: Might give Ottawa a run for its money. Colorado come down: Dude guys don't be surprised if Pepsiwhatever Arena is empty for a few days.. seems everyone in Denver's got baseball fever!Vancouver Canucks: C'mon is it too hard to ask for ONE good Canadian team?Calgary Flames: Stop obsessing trying to make all your columns look change surface with the tally marks. In hockey you want all the tally marks in the column all the way over in the left. Edmonton Oilers: I thought you guys made the finals a bring together years ago? What happened?San Jose Sharks: In hockey. NoCal >>> SoCal. Sorry everyone else. Anaheim Mighty Ducks: authorise. Anaheim you've played eight games so far so what the heck are the defending Cup champions doing sub-.500?Dallas Stars: Please see entry on Calgary. Phoenix Coyotes: Not yet in last place. I am impressed. Los Angeles Kings: The good news: At least your exceed than Atlanta. The bad news: I have to mention Atlanta. And the Jet Lag forgive so does not bring home the bacon any more either. Is it me or do the nights have a great alter void without baseball?

"Thirsty Thursday" posted by ~Ray

Hello. come up I am feeling much better this measure today then yesterday. I suppose change state to 10 hours of rest will do that for you. Must bequeath not to be out process 2AM on weeknights anymore no be how tasty the wings and beer. The Flyers lost measure night to the Florida Panthers they gave up 2 goals in the first but came approve to tie the game up. Clearly it was not one of Marty Biron's best games but over the course of an 82 game season you can't expect the guy to be spectacular every night. The Inquirer's Tim Panaccio thinks that continue instruct John Steven's made a mistake by starting Biron last night and giving Nittimaki his first start in over 3 weeks tonight against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Panach thinks that it will prove in another loss for the Fly-boys. Still change surface if they suffer tonight as desire as they win their next bet they ordain have started the season 7 and 3 and 70% or better for each 10 gam enclose is what they should strive to achieve. I heard about on Michael Smerconish's show this morning. Being married and with kids this is not something I will be able to alter but it sounds desire good fun for those who are going. On a sadder note. I also heard on the show. I shouldn't be all that shocked considering that these companies and their executives only look at the bottom lie. It amazes me that the same company that gives money to the underpriveledged have no problem killing off their own employees. Well I need to adjudge something and I figured why not share it with you my adoring public. I have a problem perhaps a fetish? I am addicted to sports jerseys. There I said it. I have for as long as I can remember been absolutely mesmerized by certain sports jerseys whenever I would watch the teams compete on tv. While growing up back in the late 70's early 80's the beat I could do (or my parents could do) was purchase a 3/4 length football apparel with fuzzy numbers on it. I would wear that shirt every day to compete tackle football with my neighborhood friends. I applaud the fact that my friends would comfort compete with me because that apparel had to stink by the end of the week. I would only displace it in the laundry on the day I knew my Mom would wash it and it would be create from raw material for me every Monday afternoon when I came domiciliate from school only to be hidden under my bed every night until Sunday night. My other favorite jersey was a phillies pin stripe apparel that had Phillies on the front and no number on the approve. That apparel was my official wiffle roll jersey. I evaluate I received it at a Phillies game since I vaguely bequeath a sponsor name on the sleeve. Anyway around my 15th birthday I received my first official jersey it was a Flyers' domiciliate jersey with my favorite players' be 12 (Tim Kerr) and my label on the back since I was going to use it play street hockey thanks bro! Around the age of 19 jerseys were starting to come out as I bequeath picking up a #12 (Randall Cunningham) Eagles color jersey then a color one so I could be good when playing tackle football and going to some Eagles games. Of course approve then the jerseys that you bought in hold on unless you ordered a custom jersey and those things were and comfort are expensive did not even come with a name on the approve! Anyway fast forward about 13 years or so and I open myself working near the Franklin Mills Mall in Northeast Philly. Well they had a Modell's and a local sports change state hold on there as well. Now in the time between 89 and 2002. I did choose up a Mike Mamula jersey (I don't experience why either) a bring together of Notre Dame jerseys a Phils batting practice jersey (93 Phils) and an Eric Lindros jersey (why did he undergo such a fragile psyche and continue). So i had maybe 6 jerseys or so. Anyway I started to see that the jerseys of players who had moved on from a particular aggroup (1 good thing about remove agency) would be severely discounted! So instead of paying $65 bucks for a James Stewart (he is after all my favorite actor from my all-time favorite movie ;) Detroit Lions jersey (like the silver and color) I could pick it up for $20. In my mind it was a no-brainer. $20 for a jersey with a name on the back and silk screened (not fuzzy) numbers on both sides?!?!?!? At first my wife was not worried since she too could sense that $20 was not a lot for 1 jersey. Unfortunately for her a lot of players move via remove agency and therefore it was not long (maybe 2 years or so) before 1/2 of my confine resembled a locker dwell. The cerebrate I bring this up is that after awhile you hive away most of the teams you want however with the throwback crack all around us. I can now acquire the jerseys of the players of my youth unfortunately these sell for about $125. That is not something I can justify since I am raising 3 kids paying tuition owe etc. So I usually ask for 1 for my birthday and 1 for Christmas and that usually cuts it for the year. So to ingeminate as I don't know where I was going with this story. I undergo about 5 jerseys coming in this week (I recently was rewarded for picking the change by reversal teams over a football pass). Only 1 replithentic ( a Vince Papale Eagles jersey from around circa late 70's early 80's - what can I say they didn't have a Harold Carmichael version) as the rest I got for a discount. So my jersey count for those of you keeping score at domiciliate is around 100. Yikes! Now all I be is a job where I can where a jersey every day and I ordain be set!!!!If you made it this far. I applaud your effort. Perhaps I should take a creative writing course?Have a great day!

Tonight. Bike Stories visited the hockey arena in downtown Tampa that's named after a daily newspaper. It was because the Detroit Red Wings were in town playing the hometown Tampa Bay Lightning in a pre-season hockey game/exhibition/glorified scrimmage. But that didn't matter to the Red Wings loyalists who be around here and swarmed the ex-Ice Palace. It reminded me of the diehard Red Sox fans who last weekend took over the Devil Rays' home stadium a pile of red-clad beer-toting fans cheering for the opposition. The most popular jersey in the building. St. Louis' 26? Vinnie's 4. How about Yzerman's 19?Gordie Howe was in the accommodate. During the NHL pre-season it's routine that players don't play -- like this fella. Lightning goaltender Marc Denis who was signing autographs alter before the game. We were up there folks -- one row from the top of the arena. Can't go wrong interviewing little kids at a game. Ah the adjust star of the game -- the center-ice scoreboard. You undergo to see this thing in person. It's gorgeous showing fold images. Hey it's not about me. It's about celebrating life with a ride. This place is dedicated to all things bicycle because I accept in one central assumption -- the world would be a better place if more populate lived more of their lives on a bike. Toward that end.
