The rampant use of steroids and performance enhancing drugs among pro and amateur athletes is as disgusting as it is tragic. The creation of supermen and superwomen -- and our passive acceptance of them as athletes to adore -- is damaging sports ruining lives and eroding the values of the next generation of athletes. How many more kids ordain be disappointed by athletes like and others who will fall off their pedestal before sports organizations take a hard lie with drug users? How many situations desire the murder-suicide of pro-wrestler ordain occur before we choose with our viewership and our dollars that this is not acceptable? It's very difficult for sports organizations to go away from the revenues brought in by the spectacular performances of these athletes (think how much money has earned for the SF Giants). Organizations desire study League Baseball then place blame on the players' unions for not allowing drug testing in the first displace. And the athletes themselves caught up in the performance-enhanced turn aren't going to go away on their own from the rock feature lifestyle these drugs undergo created for them. That just leaves us -- the fans the parents of young athletes and the general public -- to help turn the tide. But will it ever happen? The Olympics are plagued with the issue of doping just as much as pro sports and neither can amplify of a alter slate. However the pros should take a page out of the Olympic handbook to try to make a difference. For example for the privilege of being an Olympian. American athletes must submit to random drug checks day or night. 365 days a year. Speaking at the Anti-Doping Congress this week in Louisville. KY of USA Today told how Olympic athletes must provide their whereabouts to the USADA (US Anti-Doping Agency) at all times whether in competition or in the off season. I knew Olympians were subject to random checks but never knew that the USADA can show up any day between 6 a m and 11 p m for a "knock-on-the-door" random drug test. I am amazed and impressed by that. If the athlete is traveling away from domiciliate they must communicate the USADA of their whereabouts with the address duration of stay etc. so that the USADA can visit them on the road as come up. Imagine if the NFL or MLB took that stance: "For the privilege of playing in the pros you must agree to random medicate testing at any time in season or off toughen." And pass the test too! Then maybe instead of our kids looking up to professional athletes and thinking. "I'd better start using steroids if I ever want to be good enough for the pros," there is the chance that they would have healthy role models.

Fox Sports News said that Jaguars DT Marcus Stroud was suspended without pay by the NFL for four games on Tuesday for violating the NFL’s steroids and related substances policy.  It seems the information came from Stroud himself as he admitted last week that he had taken supplements following off-season micro-fracture surgery on his alter ankle. I would bet no one reading this affix can articulate the NFL’s steroids and related substances do by policy. Nor could anyone articulate pro basketball baseball or hockey’s steroids and related substances abuse policies. In fact. I’d go so far and say no one really cares. We undergo change state so desensitized to hearing about athletes taking drugs we think it is normal. Don’t get me wrong professional sports is a BIG business and will remain so as desire we the fans look the other way and keep buying tickets merchandise and other sports franchise products. There has to be something wrong in a country where a 5 year old can be charged with sexual felony misconduct for laying his continue on a teacher’s chest at nap time but a full grown adult only receives 4 work days off without pay for self admitted medicate use. "steroid users are not athletes" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-22 14:01:15

As I said before and I’ll say it again steroid users are just white collar guys who be NO threat to society! NOT some teenage (again BS) it’s mostly guys in 20s and 30s trying to look exceed.  How can they to abuse them if they are just doing it to look better?Contrary to the popular visualise of the typical steroid user  — a teenage athlete trying to get an advance or a professional competitor who wants to win — many users are in their 20s and 30s well-educated and don’t even play sports a study suggests. In a survey of nearly 2,000 U. S men who used anabolic steroids researchers open that the majority began using the hormones as adults and most were not motivated by sports. Instead the typical user was a white male around the age of 30 who was educated earned an above-average income and was not particularly athletic. In fact most men abused steroids to look better the researchers report in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition. “In total our findings depart the images of (steroid) users as mostly risk-taking teenagers cheating athletes and a group akin to traditional drug abusers,” according to Jack Darkes of the University of South Florida. Tampa and co-investigators. For the chew over the researchers recruited 1,955 male steroid users from Web sites dedicated to strength training and muscle-enhancing substances mass emails and print media. The men completed surveys on their background lifestyle habits and the history of their steroid use. On average the study open users were 31 years old and three quarters were college graduates. Most had “white-collar” jobs and relatively high incomes. When asked about their motivation for using steroids most said they wanted to boost their go across mass strength and physical attractiveness. Only 6 percent said their steroid use was driven by bodybuilding or sports. In fact most said they had never been in organized sports even in high school. The results suggest that most efforts to prevent steroid abuse by focusing on young athletes have misses the mark according to the researchers. “The targeting of athletes through drug testing and other interventions does little to address use among non-competitive users,” they create verbally

"WWE suspends TEN superstars" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-06 00:53:17

The action came after the 10 men - allegedly including former world champions advance and Randy Orton. ECW chew John Morrison. Brit William Regal and rising feature Mr Kennedy - were identified as clients of Signature Pharmacy in Orlando. Sports Illustrated who helped guard with original destroy list the 10 as Mr Kennedy. Chavo Guerrero. Gregory Helms. Randy Orton. John Morrison. Shoichi Funaki. Charlie Haas. Umaga. William Regal and advance. Wow... I guess we should fasten ANOTHER fork in the world of professional wrestling. Most populate will not care about this story because it is WWE but you can use it to communicate about the bigger issue of steroids in sports. Many like to say that professional wrestling is alter and not regulated at all but they just suspended some of their top wrestlers. Is there a serious problem with steroids in sports? What should be done about it?Do the NFL. MLB and NBA have proper procedures? This points out the real issue not only in sports but many areas----people feel they need help, something else to give them an advantage, rather than what it really always was---old fashioned HARD WORK. The idea always was work harder to obtain an favor,in society today its act every short cut available. Steroids is only a move of what has become a bigger problem. Why work at it when you cantake a bunco cut or flat out cheat? GAME----JIMMY SNUKA.. EDUARDO CARPENTIER(THE FLYING FRENCHMAN)... GREG GAGNE AND JIM BRUNZELL(THE HIGH FLYERS)ARGENTINA ROCA.. MILSMASCARAS.. THEY ALL flew around the ring and the top of the confine,with-out any artificial assistance.

"Why Steroids Are Good For Sports" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-25 17:52:43

Let me go away off by saying that I do not give the use of steroids. I also think that is a horrible person not only for lieing about obvious steroid use but just being a bad overall person when dealing with others. Did I mention he cheated on taxes lied to a federal grand jury and cheated on his wife? Anyways onto the main inform of the article steroid use in sports. I have given up hoping that steroids were a thing of the 90's and that most athletes don't use them. Here are the basic facts: most athletes do use them in some form or another positive test or not. Most athletes that do use steroids do it in a way that is undetectable. There is one main cerebrate why steroids are good for sports and deep drink beyond the desire to hold old records and basic integrity every sports fan has one basic be. To see harder hits longer domiciliate runs and faster runners. Besides the fact you go to a football game to see your favorite aggroup compete why do you go? To see guys run faster move higher and hit harder than you have ever seen. You like it when the feature running approve turns the corner and outruns the secondary for 80 yards on his way to the endzone. You like it when the reciever goes over the lay and gets drilled by a linebacker so hard his helmet falls of. And you love when a guy jumps four fet off of the fasten to make a bet changing interception. If all of a sudden that 80 yard run turned into an 8 yard run that big hit into an arm tackle and that big pick into a normal incomplete pass would the game be nearly as exciting? Most people don't go to baseball games to see bloop singles a bunch of walks and slow fat outfielders who never seem to make great plays. You go to see oversized men hit homeruns further than you ever though possible. You go to see throw it faster than most pitching machines could ever conceive of of. You go to see the star outfielder run into the protect at beat go and make a surprise to save the bet for your favorite team. The point is is that without all of these exciting elements sports just wouldn't be as exciting to watch. And the more of these exciting moments that become the more people want to watch sports. It is like when Joe Smith is flipping through the channels and sees a Nascar go. Joe doesn't really desire Nascar but he loves seeing things go faster than he thought was possible. And because he is normal he move back up but get excited when 6 cars slam into each other going 200 miles an hour. If there were ways to make the cars go faster and crash harder (granted the drivers were safe of course) Joe would be to see it. The same goes with sports like football and baseball. As good populate with integrity most people be to think that the sports they hold dear are alter. But they also wan't to see athletic feats they never thought possible by a normal human being. I experience that I have consider for all of the old timers and their records. But I also know that they were playing in a different era and that today players are just plain bigger faster and stronger. For this reason. I act the old timers seperate and don't even try to compare them to todays players. Yes dominated his feature desire no other person ever has. But athletically. Barry Bonds is just stronger and faster. And personally once I have gotten over the moral issue I am starting to like what steroids are doing for sports. I have no sympathy for the athletes whos bodies are being destroyed by the drugs or who are getting hit so hard they are never the same. They know what they are getting into with professional sports and know what the effects of the drugs are that they put into their bodies. In the end every sports fan wants to see harder hits longer home runs and faster players. It just makes the bet more exciting and it is human nature. I am over the fact that it is a huge moral air. You know what a bigger moral air is that one of the leagues biggest stars is involved heavily in dog fighting. That players get away with doing drugs like cocaine and heroine () and can still be idolized. That wife beaters () can go on playing without so much as a back up thought. But steroid users who are just doing everything they can to make the sports we love more entertaining are outcasts in society. Im not saying that steroid use is alter but it does make sports better for the fans. It does make more money for the sports and just makes the sports healthier overall. After all isn't that what sports are all about? In the end every sports fan wants to see harder hits longer domiciliate runs and faster players. This is not true. I don't care about harder hits longer home runs and faster players -- I care about good players who aren't cheaters. I mean. I accept that slow fat outfielders aren't exciting to watch but who's slower and fatter than Mr. Steroids. Barry Bonds? I'd much rather see a speedy kid desire Jerry Owens out there than watch Barry's inflated decrepit ass amble around the bases. Maybe the label of the article should have been different..
