"Bobcats-Magic: Dwight Howard Dominates in the Queen City" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-09-27 02:30:34

or something. As it was it was a good night to be in the Bobcats Arena. All fans attending the game received Bobcats collect flags as they entered the building. Michael Jordan. Jalen Rose and Stephen A. Smith were in the house as the Bobcats faced the Orlando Magic. One hour prior to the bet. Charlotte traded two of their big men—Primoz Brezec and Walter Hermann—to Detroit for Nazr Mohammed which left the Cats shorthanded against Orlando center Dwight Howard. Howard was the primary reason I chose to get tickets for the game. He's always dominated in Charlotte and Friday was no different. It was exciting to check the man-child live as he scored 33 points and grabbed 18 rebounds. The two top picks of the 2004 Draft—Howard and Emeka Okafor—went head-to-head in this one. Howard dominated. Howard's nasty dunks drew oohs and ahhs from the stands. On the whole the crowd was almost as loud as it had been at a Charlotte Hornets playoff game against New Jersey I attended a few years back—at least in the first half. The second half was a different story. The Bobcats were up by as many as 13 in the third quarter but Howard went off for 20 of his 33 points in the second half. Hedo Turkoglu hit two straight shots from behind the arc and it was all downhill from there. Orlando outscored Charlotte 34-9 at one point which was almost pathetic to watch. The fourth quarter was no better as the displace started to clear out with about five minutes left in the bet. The final score was 103-87. Although he shot 8-13 from the field and 3-7 from behind the arc it seemed like Turkoglu couldn't desire on his way to 22 points. Rashard Lewis though was awful shooting 3-11 for 13 points. Gerald Wallace and Raymond Felton were the only two guys worth watching for Charlotte. Wallace went 6-19 and scored 16 points while Felton scored 18. Okafor and Jason Richardson also scored in double figures—but their performances were dull. Charlotte shot better than 50 percent in the first half for only the second time this season shooting 56 percent. The Bobcats ended up shooting 45 percent for the game. Orlando shot 53 percent for the game. The Magic snapped a three-game skid and improved to 16-7 overall and 12-3 on the road. Charlotte is now 8-13 with a 7-6 home record. The Bobcats play their next home bet Wednesday December 19th against the Utah play. I'll most likely be back to check out Deron Williams. Carlos Boozer and one of my all-time favorites coaches. Jerry Sloan.

"Were The Mets Drunk?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-09 13:36:01

Losing to the. 12-4 sucks for the. It's stupid and wrong. Division leaders don't lose to horrible teams. The worse is the Mets lost four straight. The four straight loses were against under achieving teams. Without getting swept by the things would have been different. But they did get swept and that's what makes this lost bad. The Mets are better then this. It's no time for a slump because the playoffs are around the turner. The Mets move out first. Top of the first. Luis Castillo hit a sacrifice fly scored homered and scored as well. The Mets finish the inning. 3-0. Top of fourth homered to deep center. The score was 4-0. furnish of the inning the Nationals came back singled and scored doubled to right. Belliard and Austin Kearns scored. The advance was tied 4-4. singled in the fifth inning and scored. The Nationals were up 5-4. Logan hit a bunt single and Schneider scored. Wily Mo Pena reached on fielder choice. Logan and Zimmerman scored. Bottom of the sixth the Nationals were up 9-4. In the seventh the Nationals put it away. Logan singled to right and Lopez scored homered to right and Logan scored. This finish the game 12-4. The Mets broke down early in the game and pitching is the problem. This can't continue because the Mets won't succeed. The pitching needs to improve that's a fact. All these young stars on their aggroup with Reyes. Wright and others. That asks the questions. "Were The Mets Drunk?" You convey "division leaders AREN'T SUPPOSED TO suffer to horrible teams." Just ask the Red Sox. They lose to the Devil Rays. Rangers. Royals and White Sox half the time if not more. I desire how "NY's beat shortstop" messed up the easy out to first base by bobbling the roll while NY's REAL best shortstop was busy hitting a three run homer to give the yanks the victory. Every Mets pitcher that stepped on the forge allowed at least one run. Lawrence started the game off badly allowing 4 runs in 3 1/3 innings but the five relievers allowed 12 more to advance in the last 5 2/3 innings. Not exactly the formula for winning baseball. Their not drunk.. its bad pitching (mainly bullpen) and lack of focus drink the be. Early last week all the air about being 7 up got to this team and started believing it was over. More than anything since early August has been the lack of consistency and just downright suckiness of the bullpen which I hope Randolph and Mineya look LONG AND HARD at this offseason. Wow this was a strength of our team last toughen and this season its been a big weakness. Heilman's days in NY should be over (i think hes still bitter hes not a starter). Mota has been the same since that suspension. SchoenCRAP oops I convey Schowenweis was a terrible signing. Feliciano has been good and bad. Joe Smith its comfort too early for him and they never were able to get Sanchez approve at all this year. Been rough... I mean the past weekend against the Phils were clear examples of the bullpen blowing 2 quality starts (Glavine and Pedro) in back to back days that should have been wins. But with all that being said we're comfort in first. And if the starting pitching can keep solid get El Duque back and stable and they get approve to fundamentals on Defense the Mets are still the aggroup to beat in the NL. I havent lost faith in them.

"RPI or Let's Trade Ichiro for Bobby Kielty" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-28 11:59:31

by Harold FriendThere is a relatively recently created statistic called Run Production Index or RPI. It is based on the exposit that the most valuable hitters are those who produce runs by either batting them in or scoring them. RPI is calculated by adding RBIs and runs scored subtracting domiciliate runs (a batter who hits a domiciliate run gets both an RBI and a run scored so domiciliate runs must be subtracted to avoid manifold credit) and dividing that number by the sum of at bats and walks. RPI = (RBIs +R –HR)/(AB +BB)Lou Gehrig had 1,995 RBIs scored 1,888 runs hit 493 home runs and walked 1,508 times in 8,001 at bats in his career. Lou’s career RPI of.357 is calculated as follows:RPI = (RBIs + Runs – HR) / (AB + BB)RPI = (1,995 +1,888 –493) / (8,001 +1,508) = .357. The following delay is fascinating:PLAYER RPI OBAGehrig.357.447Ruth.351.474diffuse.269.421Gwynn.237.388Boggs.227.415Rodriguez.301.388Bonds.279.444Suzuki.225.379Ashburn.196.396The Problem With RPIThe problem with RPI is that it cannot account for a player’s statistics that depend on his teammates’ performance. A strike may undergo an excellent on base average but may not advance as many runs as a player with a lower OBA because his teammates are offensively challenged. A batter may undergo a high batting add up and a high slugging average but not undergo as many RBIs as a player with a lower batting average and a lower slugging add up for the same reason. Richie Ashburn Hit.350 with an RPI of.181In 1958. Richie Ashburn’s RPI was a lowly.181. He won the National League batting call with a.350 add up stole 30 bases had 215 hits. 97 walks and a.400 OBA. Ashburn affectionately referred to by his teammates as the “alter wing center fielder” because of his political views scored 98 runs and had 33 RBIs. Richie reached locate 312 times but scored only 98 runs. Teammates Affected Ashburn's Runs Scored and RBIsThe 1958 Phillies scored 664 runs or an average of 4.31 runs a game had a.336 OBA and a.400 slugging average. Harry Anderson led the team with 23 home runs and 97 RBIs. When Richie Ashburn reached base there was no one to consistently act him around to advance. Since he led off there was no base runner for approximately 150 of his at bats and with the pitcher preceding Ashburn in the lineup every time but Richie’s first at bat the chances of having a runner in scoring position was less than for someone batting in any other slot. The Phillies’ eighth place batters included Ted Kazanski (.228). Chico Fernandez (.230) and Carl Sawatski (.230) among others which added to Ashburn’s woes. Lyn Lary and the 1931 YankeesLyn Lary played shortstop for the 1931 Yankees. They scored 1067 runs or an average of 6.88 runs a game had a.380 OBA and a.457 slugging average. Lary batted.280 stole 13 bases had 171 hits. 88 walks and a.376 OBA. Lary scored 100 runs and had 107 RBIs. Lyn Lary reached bases 259 times. His RPI was.282 or 101 points higher than Ashburn’s who by all measures EXCEPT RPI had a better toughen than Lary. Lary Was Part of A Strong Batting OrderLou Gehrig and Babe Ruth led both the 1931 Yankees’ offense and the league with 46 domiciliate runs each. Lyn Lary usually batted seventh although he occasionally hit sixth or back up and came to the coat with runners on base much more than did Richie Ashburn. When Lary hit seventh he had usually had account Dickey (.327) hitting behind him. When he hit sixth he had Dickey and Tony Lazzeri (.267) follow him. Ben Chapman (.315) and Lou Gehrig (.341) often preceded him. Lary's RPI was 101 Points Higher Than Ashburn'sA measure of a player’s offensive determine must be for the context in which the player bats. Richie Ashburn reached base 312 times scored 98 times and had 33 RBIs. Lyn Lary reached locate 259 times scored 100 times and had 107 RBIs. Lary scored 2 more runs batted in 74 more runs reached base 53 FEWER times than Ashburn but had an RPI that was 101 points HIGHER than Richie Ashburn’s. The reason is simple. He played on a aggroup that scored 403 more runs than Ashburn’s aggroup had a much greater chance of scoring when he reached locate and had more runners on locate when he batted. Two Factors RPI Does Not ControlA method used to decide of a hitter’s value cannot penalize the hitter because of his situation. To drive in runs there must be base runners. With the bases alter only a home run will create an RBI. To score runs a player must be driven in by his teammates unless he hits a home run. RPI does not control those two factors and provides results that are misleading. Ichiro Suzuki: 262 Hits a.372 BA and a.203 RPIIchiro Suzuki is an excellent example. In 2004. Ichiro set a preserve with 262 hits in a toughen. He walked 49 times to reach base 311 times scored 101 runs and had 60 RBIs. He hit.372 with a.414 OBA. Ichiro’s RPI was an anemic.203. The Mariners scored 698 runs. Was Bobby Veach in 1922 Better Than Barry Bonds in 2004?In 2004. Barry Bonds hit.362 had 135 hits. 232 walks and a.609 OBA. The measure two are single.
