"Back at home, Sharks get Buffaloed" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-11-13 12:31:54

That wasn’t the same team I just followed from Denver to Dallas to Phoenix.  That team had composure on the ice and everybody seemed to be on the same page. In that 7-1 loss to Buffalo,  the Sharks didn’t seem to be in the same book let alone on the same page. And when you consider it’s the home fans who have invested themselves financially and emotionally in this team and probably aren’t happy with the return on their investment well that can’t be good can it? Mike Grier had an interesting perspective on the game in part because he’s an insightful guy and in part because he played 95 games with the Sabres before coming to San Jose. “Today. I don’t know if we were ready to play mentally. There are things you can’t do against that team — not get pucks deep and make soft plays –  and we did that. They’re one of the best transition teams in the league and they made us pay for it. (On playing Buffalo after the Kings embarrassed them) “Lindy’s a good coach and most of those guys were there for the run they’ve had the last two years. They’ve got a lot of pride in there. I don’t know if we took them lightly but there’s no reason to take them lightly because of the kind of game they play.  I don’t know if we were mentally as focused and as prepared as we should have been.” (On playing poorly at home)  “We’re trying to change the routine around here. For whatever reason whether it’s guys trying to do too much and make plays that aren’t there. Guys are trying to do that little bit extra and it’s not working.” ******That 7-1 loss wasn’t the worst ever for the Sharks at HP Pavilion. No twice the Sharks have lost at home by eight goals. But the most recent that happened was 12 years ago and it was Mario Lemieux’s Pittsburgh Penguins doing the damage. 9-1 on Nov. 10. 1995.  It does appear that this is the worst home loss of the Doug Wilson-Ron Wilson Era and I hedge that only because the tiny print in the media guide gets even smaller at this hour. But as best as I can tell the worst defeat at home under the Wilsons until Saturday night was a 6-1  loss to Colorado on Jan. 4. 2003. ******* Tomorrow is an off-day on the Sharks calendar and mine.  Unless of course.  something dramatic occurs — and no. I’m not suggesting I have a clue that’s likely.   What a stinker. I still can’t believe Ron Wilson played Semmenov over McLaren. Just a slippery slop night. They just looked off from the get go. I think it was all the little things piling up on them tonight. 1. First home game after a roadtrip. 2. Back to Back game. 3. Late night flying from Arizona. 4 Consistently played bad at home. 5 add in the 2 bad luck errors. (Marleau getting tangled with Semmenov and Ozo tripping on Gooch.) The reason why our team sucks so bad on the power play is because we are not quick. The Sharks clearly lack quickness in their players. Sure Michalek. Mitchell and Marleau are fast but they lack the quickness and shiftiness of certain players. Look at Buffalo’s power play tonight compared to ours. They moved the puck quickly to their guys and were able to get shots from the point because of quick and accurate passes. Not being prepared mentally has got to be the coaching staff’s fault and it’s a recurring theme for the Sharks dating back to Game 5 against Calgary in the playoffs years ago in which RW had no explanation for. It goes back to the Coyote ugly game last year. It goes back to the LA games this year and even last night’s game against PHX. Simply stated its not one or two guys its everyone. RW needs to be canned ASAP. Marleau our captain has got to be softest player in the league. He is not ’strong’ on the puck and loses it 90 percent of the time he enters the zone with speed or is working in the corners. It does no good to trade him since nobody wants him the way he is playing. As far as the game it used to be that someone would fight or dish out a big hit to get the boys on the bench and the crowd into it. We have nobody that did that last night (or can do it). It’s simply a team of mellow players who’s reflects the image of their captain. Was it Lindy Ruff’s coaching (”Lindy’s a good coach”) or the players taking it upon themselves to atone for an embarrassment (”They’ve got a lot of pride in there”)? Whatever it was the Sabres (a young team) responded. The Sharks were schooled. Let’s hope they learned the lesson of how they need to respond. Let’s see the pride. I just hope that this will wake them up just like last December’s 8-0 “Disaster In The Desert” vs. Phoenix. Then again they just might not be as good as the pre-season hype. Bottom line is they still can’t put teams away as they still struggle to score (5 on 5 and the PP continues to look woeful). Throw out the three (pre-Bryzgalov) Phoenix games in November and they have scored more than 3 goals only four times this year. …how about when they come back from a road trip late and have a game the next night they stay in a hotel and don’t go home…just another road game… as a season ticket holder for years last night was only the 3rd time I have left a game early…missed 2 Sabers goals. I will say Buffalo had a strong fan base and they were heard in our “house” last night…think there is “whole lot spallin to do” and today might be a good day to it…did any of you hear the radio guys after the game…. I sure hope they replay it for coach and players…. 10 – Sharkie ate the game plan 9 – Buffalo put more goals in the net than the Sharks did. 8 – The coaches showed the team the Disney Mighty Ducks movies to inspire them but it did not work out. 7 – With the high price of gas the players cannot afford to attend every practice. 6 – It’s too early in the season; this is not the time to look at the scoreboard. 5 – There were only three games in this week they are not tired enough to play well. 4 – They still have games in hand that can be won or lost. 3 – To those people who said we are contenders to win the Stanley cup we are trying to prove you wrong. 2 – They have not yet exhausted everybody’s patience 1 – Who cares the fans still come to the tank to watch the Sharks play. With the above list in hand the players will not have to find new excuses as to why they had such an awful outing…Can’t wait to see what happens on Tuesday. Perhaps Wilson should offer Minnesota to stay home and fly the Sharks over there. Having been a fan and player of hockey since my childhood in Michigan. I’d have to say I haven’t seen any worse night of hockey than last night’s fiasco against Buffalo. The team should have offered refunds to those attending along with some headache remedies. I thought these were professional hockey players. A professional is not only supposed to show up but is also supposed to put maximum effort into that performance. Anything else is unacceptable and any reasons offered for the lack are merely excuses. I’m trying to figure out now why I should pay any more money to watch this team(?). Perhaps if I could afford to fly to the out of town games….? Anybody who have ever watched hockey can tell what are the causes for our losses. There is no magic about it - we are not going to score on the power play when everybody is standing still while Joe tries to create something when we can’t even get in the zone on the power play when we’re not hitting when Murray thinks he’s now too good of a defender to fight when your captain and top goalscorer from last two seasons play with no passion (skill aside - compare what effort Crosby and Ovechkin is putting every night) and when coach has no idea how to wake the team up after couple of childish mistakes. And in my view most of this can be eliminated with proper coaching and a couple of trades. Yet the man who can take the action for this can easily watch this from his comfortable box seats and do nothing about it. Do we really have to wait till the first round of playoffs ? Seeing how they play makes me hope we don’t ever even make the playoffs with this team. One game does not a season make. Whether this was a 6-goal win or loss it’s not what the team has been doing all season. You all might have a gripe if this happened twice a month. Everyone take a deep breath and then slowly exhale…. repeat several times. I love the knee-jerk posters! They think no further than the end of their noses. We lost? “Fire RW” is the immediate call. Perhaps you all should review Mr. Rivet’s words of wisdom for an early season interview in the Smerc. HE has the story correctly expressed (to paraphrase); the blame for the Sharks earlier blase performances were absolutely NOT the result of the coaching staff. It was left unsaid that it was the PLAYER’S fault. alone. Go re-read it. After Rivet’s interview was printed in the press the Sharks straightened right up and played their way to the top of the Division. I can see the point of those that think the team is fine as it is. The Sharks are near the top of the Western Conference the goaltending for the most part has been solid and the Sharks would be a playoff team if the season ended today. I guess my main concern is that the team really is lacking heart. Isn’t that what the Oilers had when they knocked out the Sharks two years ago? Isn’t that what Detroit had when they knocked out the Sharks last year? I just am not seeing the passion from a majority of players. If you want a good team every year that will compete the Sharks have it. But for a team that was so disappointed with the second round exit for the second straight year. I find the lack of motivation very concerning. I have said it before if you cannot motivate your players you might not be the right person to do the motivating. The other view could be that you don’t have the right players that are willing to be motivated. I don’t know which it is. But I think one of them needs serious correction. I don’t know if RW needs to go or something needs to happen with a player or two. But if nothing happens it looks like we are in for a lot more of the same this season. I hope I am wrong for all you that don’t like anyone criticizing your boys. I agree wholeheartedly with what Davey just wrote in #18. In spite of being in first place (albeit in a mediocre division so far) and Mr. Rivet’s interview notwithstanding there is something very wrong with this team. It’s that intangible thing that sometimes is hard to put a finger on but it definitely exists. And last night’s stinker wasn’t the first time it has been evident. There is a very troubling pattern going on here. No heart little spark disappearing players (Patty in particular has been brutal of late) pathetic power play etc etc. These problems existed at the end of last season and who was our biggest off-season acquisition? Drew Remenda. O. K… JR but he’s only had moments. So maybe the front office is partly to blame for standing pat and thinking they had a cup contender. I’m also not a big RW fan as it appears he is unable to motivate the team on a regular basis. I think this team could use a more fiery presence behind the bench since there doesn’t appear to be a whole bunch of them ON the bench. Did you all know how much Darryl Sutter was hated? He’s a hard@ss like RW. These multi-millionaires aren’t going to endanger their money train. There’s your answer. One final thought before turning in…perhaps the word being tossed about is not exactly the most accurate word and perhaps THIS one is not either but I will throw it out nonetheless. Passion…. it strikes me that our rare invertabrate species of Shark lacks the passion to dominate. As correctly written above re: the last 2 second round exits after a commanding lead one good hard punch and they fold like a paper bag. Heart…… your treasure is where your heart is. In the Sharks’ case it appears to be in too many players’ paychecks. To the detriment of their Stanley Cup aspirations. Don’t do anything to get hurt and shorten the career. Regardless this is a new year which brings the opportunity to make amends for sins past. Let us all pray for redemption. ‘Tis the Season no? Good grief it is just one game. Should Ruff be fired and all the player’s traded because they lost to the Kings 8-3? No. The fault lies with the stupid league schedule which cheats the fans and the players. It is the stupid back to back games when one opponent does not have a back to back. Sabres got screwed when they had to play the Ducks then play the Kings the very next night. Now it was our turn. It is not fair and the league should be ashamed. We were 1/2 step behind the Sabres all nite and that was due to having played the nite before. Against a weaker team sometimes you can get away with it but rarely against the better teams. Drew and Randy even talked about it on the telecast. Disgusting. I also went to the game expecting a loss (sad to think but true). And if the game had ended 4-1 as the 2nd period did. I would have walked out feeling “Well ok the schedule and previous results did conspire against us tonight”. It was the complete no-show in the 3rd period which was just disconcerting. And not just because it made the score so lopsided but because it has been typical of the team’s performance all year. More importantly because it is very similar as previously mentioned to meltdowns in the play-offs in past years. Can this team win the division? Yes. Can they win a play-off round or two? Yes (although it might be better if they don’t have home-ice “advantage,” haha). But does this team have the guts the heart and the perserverance to win 16 play-off games and hoist the cup? Not the way they are now. Whether it’s the mental make-up the players’ preferred playing styles or the coaching something needs to change if they’re going to take that next step. All of you made valid points and comments. I totally agree with Mitch (#19),“Take away Joe and Nabby and where do you think we’d be right now???” That point was also well taken by Jamie Baker in the post game show. I was at the game 1/2 expecting a loss due to fatigue but always expecting a competitive game. Yes. Sharks are still in first place but what’s frustrating is the fact that they have so much size and talent you expect them never to blown out like that. Joe showed some fire/frustration at the end of the game and drew a 4 min penalty. too bad he or someone else didn’t draw that penalty in the 2nd period… could have lit the fire that may have resulted in a win or at least a closer more competitive game. With the home games that we have coming we will be able to judge whether the Sharks are for real or not. Starting tomorrow against a pretty tough team to play against like the Wild. Every time they give us a little hope that the troubles are behind us (the wins against the Avs. Stars and Yotes) we take a pretty big step back. We can try to analyze and find excuses on behalf of the players until the cows come home. In all honesty the talking and changing of perception needs to be done on the ice. Even if you are tired you are playing a better team and you are having back luck you can still show the crowd that you are proud you are a professional and you will not tolerate being pushed around. Did not see any of that on Saturday perhaps the late in the game Joe incident was a bit of that but last time I looked there are twenty players in the team. I am afraid that the being pushed around is a pattern that the Sharks established in the last few playoffs and do not seem to be able to shake off. “This team {the Sharks} just quit” in the 3rd period and “As a someone who really cares about the team. I am dissappointed.” So how should the fans react? Should we all just be happy? Yes the team is in first place with games in hand but the goal is to win the Stanley Cup not just to make the playoffs. We’ve been there and done that before. The question should be is this team the best team in the league? Can they beat Detriot in a best of 7 series? Can they beat Ottawa or for that matter Anaheim in a best of 7 series? If you answered no then we need Sharks management to improve the team. And the only way to improve the team at this point is by trading. If you trade away garbage your going to get garbage back. And what would be the point of that we already have 7 role players on the team what the Sharks need is more scoring a solid defenseman and a backup goalie who can at least stop routine shots. Wilson has got to go! He should have gone when we had the same exact playoff losses two years in a row. He can’t figure out why the players don’t respond. “HELLO! they have tuned you out!” You bench Kyle but play your man crush Seminov! As for the players. MAN UP! Thorton. Ozo and Nabby are the only ones playing. Bench Seto. Bench Patty send a real message. I don’t know who we could get to coach but it is clear they will not play for Wilson! Saturday was Buffalo’s 3rd game in 4 nights as well. Obviously they spent their day off Friday resting up and preparing for the game. Especially after getting smoked by the Ducks and Kings. On the other hand. David reported that several of the Sharks played 18 holes of golf and had dinner at JR’s country club on Thursday their one day off. I know it’s “just” golf and normally shouldn’t affect well conditioned athletes like the Sharks but I was surprised the coaching staff allowed such an excursion when the team had 2 back to back games coming up. Especially knowing the opponent on Saturday would be well rested. Did the golf outing have an effect on the team’s energy level or their mental preparedness? Joe T said he forgot about the game 15 min after it was over and that’s the way the players have to view it it’s only one game out of 82. BUT it’s obvious by all of our comments that we have not forgotten it. And we pay damn good money (higher ticket prices and parking) to see a competitive game each night. How about it Doug W? How about if the team phones in the game and loses by 5 or 6 goals we get a refund??????? Just think all this pain from one loss. I am reading these blogs and I am astounded by the arrogance of the Shark fan. I have been a Buffalo sports fan for close to 50 years. I grew up in WNY and am proud to be a supporter of the Sabres and Bills. As far as I have recollection we have not won any Stanley Cups or Super Bowls but we have been close 6 times. If you really want to belly ache over one stupid game in a 82 game schedule I am proud to be the fan of the team that has caused you all so much pain. Thanks for the entertainment. Thanks for your concern for people’s health Mr. Andy but you can relax…if you hold the shift key and then hold down the ‘?’ key voila!…?????????????????? with no pain whatsoever. Props to the Buffalo fan’s perspective. I agree 100%. The job of the fan is to support your team through thick and thin. The player’s job is to follow the coaching staff’s direction and to play as hard as they can every game.

By Craig ShultzPA SportsTicker Contributing WriterANAHEIM. California (Ticker) - Sixty minutes just doesn't seemto be enough time to settle a game between the and. Joe Thornton converted a backhanded goal in the sixth go ofthe shootout to give the Sharks a hard-fought 2-1 victory overthe Ducks on Sunday ruining the return of 2007 postseason heroScott Niedermayer. Each of the three games between the two clubs this season hasended in a shootout with Anaheim winning the first twomeetings. Better yet the Sharks host the Ducks twice over thenext six days."There's always really good games against Anaheim," Thorntonsaid. "Every game we come here or they come up to us it'salways an exciting low-scoring game. We've been having a lotof shootouts against them so it's nice to win this one.""Every time we play them it seems like a playoff atmosphere,"said center Torrey Mitchell who scored a shorthanded goal forSan Jose. "We play them two more times before Christmas here,so this is a big win for us."Niedermayer was Anaheim's captain and the MVP of the postseasonas the Ducks won their first Stanley Cup measure season. He missedthe first two months of this season while contemplatingretirement but logged over 23 minutes of ice time and recordedeight shots on goal."This is exactly what I expected," Niedermayer said. "It wouldhave been great to win that game. It was an intense game andtwo pretty good teams playing hard. We just have to keepworking and trying to create to eliminate those things. We wereright there. Niedermayer looked as if he didn't miss any time but said he hassome catching up to do."You have an understanding that these guys undergo been out herebattling for a long time. Somehow. I feel like I owe them alittle extra," Niedermayer said. "They've been out herebattling right from the start of the season and I want to comein and help them as much as I can."Thornton who was surprisingly the sixth choice for the Sharksin the shootout lineup slipped a backhanded shot high to thestick side by Anaheim goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere for SanJose's third tally of the shootout."I had seen Patty (Patrick Marleau) go drink there and go farpost on (Giguere) so that is all I was thinking is go far postand kick it off the post," Thornton said. "I was lucky enough,he kind of opened that up a little bit. It went off the postand in the net. It's just one of those when you shoot and hopeit goes in. Evgeni Nabokov made 30 saves to improve his record in Decemberto 6-2 for the Sharks who improved to 12-3-2 on the road thisseason."We knew that it was going to be a hard game especially withNiedermayer coming back," Nabokov said. "We knew that they weregoing to be all pumped up and come out hard. It was a kind ofa playoff atmosphere it was exciting. We have to get readyfor the next game it's desire a mini-playoff series."In addition to Niedermayer. Sunday also marked the innovate ofdefenseman Doug Weight who was acquired from the St. LouisBlues in exchange for Andy McDonald on Friday. In just over 12minutes of ice measure he assisted on the lone Ducks' goal. Bobby Ryan recalled from the minors on Saturday got the Duckson the board first via Weight's helper. Weight streaked downthe right wing side and sent a cross-ice pass to Ryan whoone-timed Nabokov to the stick side at 13:41 from the leftfaceoff circle. Ryan the No. 2 choose in the 2005 draft behind PittsburghPenguins star Sidney Crosby had a goal in the toughen opener, but was sent to Portland of the American Hockey League afterappearing in just four games."It was nice to see Bobby score," Weight said. "We carried onsome confidence and had some good chances from then on in. Itwas a good hockey game tonight. 'Jiggy' kept us in there. Thepenalty kill kept us in there and it gave us a shot to win thegame."Torrey Mitchell scored a shorthanded goal to tie the game at5:13 of the back up. It was Mitchell's first goal in 10 games, fifth of the season and third against Anaheim. Ducks defenseman Mathieu Schnieder lost the puck at the San Joseblue line and Mitchell picked it up. With Schneider draped allover him. Mitchell fell to his knees got up deked and scoredto the netminder's right align off a backhander. Anaheim killed all eight San Jose power plays including a nearsix-minute stretch in the middle of the second period."If we didn't win it may have been a little bit frustrating,"Thornton said of the power play failures. "But we got ourchances to stick one in the back of the net and we got our twopoints."

Lisa and I went to the HP Paviliiion in downtown San Jose to catch the San Jose Sharks as they hosted the Buffalo Sabres. The HP Paviliiion is state-of-the-art with an elaborate arrange of LCD displays all working in contrive at any moment to create a really tight visual undergo. We were precicely at the mid-point of the rink with a massive super-sharp LCD screen hanging right at eye-level. These screens were most effectively used during product placement. They were all put to bring home the bacon to change the merits of SanDisk and other vendors.

"Training Camp Battles To Be Intense" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-27 20:06:56

Training dwell opens on Friday for the San Jose Sharks and the battle for roster spots should alter for an interesting three weeks. Who plays in San Jose who plays in Worcester who goes back to junior and who plays where are all topics for discussion. FORWARDSUp front fans can rest assured of the Sharks firepower with Captain and re-signing this pass. However whether they will center two displace lines or skate alongside each other comfort has to be determined. That being noted the two undergo roster spots locked up. Along with the two All-Stars and are all NHL regulars. That totals 10 forwards in position already (although what position each plays is another story for another day) who spent all of 2006-07 on an NHL roster). If the Sharks keep two extra forwards and one defenseman on their 23-man roster although aggroup Teal has gone with eight blueliners in the past that would get four send roster spots up for grabs and both spent most of last year with the big unify performing very strong at times but both also spent time in the AHL and ordain have to prove their mettle to keep challengers away. Among younger prospects targeting those who have finished their junior eligibility,or are seasoned from the AHL. Lukas Kaspar and undergo eyes on the big prize. Then again there is always the possibility that a young forward like or ordain explode on the scene desire and clutch a roster spot. Over the years the Sharks undergo shown the best players alter the aggroup and that ordain still be the inspect in 2007-08. DEFENSEMENFans watching for roster battles should pay special attention to the blueline. Veterans and undergo bring in records and past performances letting you experience they ordain be there night in and night out. What follows is a assort of seven defensemen that all undergo NHL undergo and would prefer to act the charted flights of the NHL versus the bus rides of the AHL. Leading that rush is the NHL’s All-Rookie defensive pairing of and. Vlasic proved in an unexpected rookie race that he can be one of the exceed defensive defensemen in the NHL. This year he ordain look to act that roll going and divide in a bit more offensively while avoiding the sophomore slump. Carle came as advertised strongly reading plays and showing tremendous offensive upside setting the Sharks rookie record for points by a blueliner. However one year does not alter a career and both ordain need to show the talents from year one throughout training camp. Joining the youngsters in battling for NHL spots are and from measure season’s roster. Each of the blueliners would like to not only keep their NHL positions but are hoping to act into a regular spot in the rotation. Both Murray and Davison bring strong physical elements to the bet and can hit and displace the gloves when called upon. advance complicating the chase are new-comers (yes he is related to former cheat Jeff Norton) and Patrick Traverse. All three have been NHL regulars at one point but tasted life in the AHL during the 2006-07 season. That should make them very hungry entering camp. Semenov (six-foot-six) and Norton (six-foot-four) give hulking coat on the backend while go across would definitely be the most offensively gifted of the fivesome. However this is where it could become change surface more complicated. What if a young look desire or holds their ground and demands a roster spot? The good news for young campers is the Vlasic copy of crashing the party is fresh in everyone’s object and they experience good efforts won’t go in vain. GOALIESIn net another test ordain be waged between two German trained netminders is firmly entrenched in the be one slot however someone must man the back-up role and change integrity the duties in Worcester last toughen and both performed come up. Now one ordain be the number two in San Jose with the other running the show in the American Hockey League. Patzold has the most undergo of the two being three years older. In 2006-07. Patzold finished 10-8-3 with a 3.35 goals-against-average while Greiss finished 26-15-2 with a 2.61 GAA. Both undergo displayed excellent athletic ability and develop and the on-ice battle should be as good as any position if for no other reason the finalists undergo essentially already been decided. The closeness of the lay battles mean that every learn scrimmage and preseason game could be the difference between San Jose or Worcester for several players and that ordain clearly bring out their best efforts. TRAINING CAMP change state TO THE PUBLICThe San Jose Sharks are scheduled to learn and practice on the South Rink at Sharks Ice at San Jose on Friday. Saturday and Sunday. The entrance for fans to the South Rink will be at the hangar doors at back end of the rink closest to Muni Stadium. "2006-07 San Jose Sharks season in blog review" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-03 14:05:43

San Jose Sharks captain Patrick Marleau signed a 2-year. $12.6 million today that ordain keep him in teal and orange until 2010. The agreement puts an end to offseason change rumors surrounding Marleau that have been making the NHL rounds at a steady pace. The latest was squashed Friday morning as Montreal Canadiens GM Bob Gainey described a telecommunicate conversation with GM Doug Wilson. Gainey said that Marleau was described as one of the of the Sharks franchise and that he would not be going anywhere. The longtime cheat Patrick Marleau holds franchise records in almost every offensive category goals (219) assists (272) points (491) and game-winning goals (41) and has served as aggroup captain since the 2003-04 toughen. He finished last toughen as the second leading scorer registering 32 goals and 46 assists for 78 points in 77 games played. The contract extension for Marleau follows those signed recently by Joe Thornton. Craig cerebrate and Milan Michalek as the Sharks solidified the nucleus of a dominant Western Conference aggroup for the foreseeable future. Transcript of Patrick Marleau's conference call:[Q] How important was it to get this done before training camp instead of having a little bit of uncertainty ahead of you?[PM] It is very important. We have been negotiating for a little while now but once you start negotiations you want to get things done as quickly as possible. Now going into training camp with everything done we can just cerebrate on hockey. Where the focus should be.[Q] Can you tell me a little about the call of the assure with 2 years not 1 year not 4 years is that an ideal length for you or is that something the team was pushing a little bit?[PM] No I think that is what ended up working for both parties as far as money-wise anyways. So I think it was agreeable as far as the years came to two.[Q] Was there a inform where you thought this might not get done before training dwell prepared to go into the toughen playing in your measure year or were you always confident that it could get done?[PM] You go away out hoping things ordain get done more quickly but that being said I would have been able to put it aside and been able to compete. They have been open if something was going to happen I would undergo had an inkling of what was going on.[Q] Could you imagine what it would undergo been like to play in another city this is all you have known in your hockey career. How unappetizing was that look?[PM] I have put a lot of thought into it. I have been here the longest now. I'm the last guy standing. I have come up with the team and now that we have what I evaluate is a Stanley Cup contending aggroup it probably would not be the beat time for me to leave. I am going to stay here and be in the Bay Area. I like the fans the team and I like my teammates. It is going to be an exciting measure for Sharks fans and myself as we go after that Stanley Cup.[Q] Did you talk to any of the other guys on the team while you were going through that process? Whether you wanted to write for one year or two years or whether you wanted to sign at all?[PM] I have obviously talked to some of the guys. Milan has made a commitment. Joe has made a commitment. Having some of those guys locked up makes it a lot easier to stay and compete with those guys and you experience you are going to be on a winning team. That definately does come into compete. Transcript of General Manager Doug Wilson's conference label:[Q] Can you express us how you feel after a pretty productive pass in terms of making longterm develop for your unify? In addition to Patty there is a whole summer beat of deals you undergo done.[DW] come up to be honest with you the credit deserves to go to the players. I evaluate we have mentioned many times that it is our responsibility to make this a place where players be to be and be a part of and be able to win. The players undergo the choices and they step up. I am really proud of the guys to understand how every contract negotiation is connected to 22 other players. I just can not say enough about our group stepping up and doing what I evaluate is needed under this system to keep a hockey aggroup like ours together.[Q] Was Patty's deal a long steady thing or did it choose up recently?[DW] It has been pretty stabilise. We undergo a great relationship with Patty and his agent Don Baizley and the last assure we did with him we basically did it in 1 day. This one. I think we knew we were going to get there. We did have a common goal and this is why you undergo to furnish Patty ascribe too. He did not want any distractions. To get it done now prior to going into dwell is important for all of us and for his teammates. I just can't furnish enough credit to the players for stepping up and getting this done.[Q] Do you consider Patrick the archetype of what you want your players to be what does he mean for this certify in terms of longevity and in terms of what he does on and off the ice?[DW] Well he is he has that balance. He understands and I am a little biased in this hockey players understand that.
