"An unhusky October" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-04-08 03:54:12

An overtime win over Providence proved to be the only October victory for the Huskies this season - Steven Roth (MVN) Prior to the season we all knew that the month of October would have a force on how our 2007-08 season would look desire. Starting with a Hockey East victory over Providence and ending with Saturday night’s loss versus Maine the Huskies have played four straight home games tallying a 1-3-0 preserve. The homestand concludes this Friday night when the Huskies entertain #7 New Hampshire. Saturday night the Huskies play up in New Hampshire but then find themselves back at Matthews Arena for two more domiciliate games against Vermont and Boston University. That makes it six home games out of the first seven seven out of eight if you be to count the exhibition victory we had over Prince Edward Isle the first week of October. Having four of four games on your plan in October played at home should bespeak well for a team. In our case it didn’t quite work out as come up as we hoped. We won an exciting overtime thriller against Providence we played North Dakota tough we should have taken at least one game against Maine but we didn’t. We may be standing strong in Hockey East tied for third with two points but the one game we won wasn’t even decided until the last possible back up. That doesn’t sound too good. In November the Huskies undergo eight games on their schedule- five of those at home. To become a contender the Huskies need to win all of those domiciliate games. That may be an unrealistic goal but it’s a goal that they should be working towards. Here’s my monthly updates on each player on the Northeastern Men’s Hockey roster: This entry was posted on Monday. October 29th. 2007 at 7:20 amand is filed under. . You can follow any responses to this entry through the feed. You can or from your own site. I said that I wasn’t surprised. Hopefully we get the jitters out of the way and start winning! Starting this Saturday vs. New Hampshire! I’m certainly not suprised however they should have definately taken that first game at Maine. I missed the back up game but I assume it was pretty much the same. They defeat themselves. Yep a victory in bet 1 leads to a 2-2-0 preserve and gives us good positioning after one month however the losses may be good for us in the long run as the players obviously learned how easy it is to let one slip away. Gonna be a tough pass vs #4 UNH. Any point is a bonus. "Machesney shines in first start: plus tidbits" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-20 21:45:33

Maxime Daigneault waited awhile to get his first go away of the toughen playing behind Pekke Rinne in Milwaukee. Poor Daren Machesney had to wait even longer to get his first start playing behind AHL legend Frederic Cassivi. Both of them have something in common. They both recorded shutouts in their 2007 debuts. Daren Machesney got the start against Albany tonight and he made the most of it. Instead of looking rusty and out of learn he slid right into action and got the job done. 36 saves in the effort and most of all many of those saves came on the penalty kill. Albany went 0 for 7 on the PP as "Cheezer" (see photo below) held the fort for the Bears. Daren notched the shutout and also the games #1 star. Schaefer returned to HoustonAfter being called up to the Minnesota Wild and backing up Josh Harding for two games in the NHL. Nolan Schaefer has been returned to the Houston Aeros. Davis negociate nominated for Goaltender of the Week in the ECHLFormer Bear Davis Parley was nominated for the Rbk Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week allocate for the period running Oct. 22-28. Parley was 2-0-1 last week for the Stingrays. If the Washington organization wants to develop young skaters they also need to develop young goalies. Kolzig is 37 and both Johnson and Cassivi are in thier 30's. Freddie is a great AHL goalie but has not been able to break into the NHL. Johnson at best is a second rate backup (my opinion). Washington let Daigneault go which I think was a mistake. So. Cheezer is thier young talent in goal at this inform. The Bears should let Machesney play more to get him bet experience. It is only one game but he sounded solid and played his butt off in the second with five straight PK's including two 5 on 3's. Keep up the great work Cheezer and hope to see you play more. I am afraid that the Caps are putting all their eggs in one basket with Simeon Varlamov. I know he is supposed to be the next great goalie but if they do not bring along others like Machesney they could be in trouble. I agree. I wish they could have kept Max. Maybe Neuvirth will come through and deliver as advertised also. I guess they are counting on Varlamonv and Neuvirth but both guys are VERY young with little to no pro experience. Hopefully Machesney can turn some heads. Well if Washington does not get rid of Johnson or Cassivi or Machesney there will be no room for either Varlamov or Neuvirth. Varlamov would most likely go approve to Russia if he does not make the Caps next season..
