"Giving blood at the office" posted by ~Ray

When Witt the 32-year-old veteran was struck by the puck on his neck below his left ear during the Islanders game in Washington last week it was a reminder that hockey players bleed more than other professional athletes. Witt said he wouldn't be able to guess how many stitches he has taken in his career though his experience (starting his 12th toughen in the league) and his job description ("block the puck") make him a candidate for the team lead in stitches. Maybe his first experience with being sewed up on a rink--he was 9 years old playing tag with a friend in a public skating session when "the kid ran over my hand; I didn't desire that"--somehow anticipate his vocation as a pro hockey player. The reaction actually comes from fellows such as Islanders continue athletic trainer Garrett Timms. "the first responder," as he described himself when a player goes drink with injury. Timms is the fellow who appears on the ice towel in hand to check the bleeding and evaluate the alter. There are "worst-case scenarios," he said when he may have to call for an ambulance or see that the player gets timely care from the team physician though often Timms can literally patch things up himself. Gause patches thick smears of petroleum change integrity and an anti-bacterial disperse on the jersey "if the player has daub all over him," to follow against the referee ordering the player out of the game. "I guess," said Timms whose training includes witnessing surgery. "you have to undergo an affinity for blood" to do his job. Certainly he has treated much worse than the recent Witt cut as when a Bridgeport player took a puck in the mouth. And most unsettling of all when Timms witnessed the sound Malarchuk excite. Timms who grew up in the Buffalo area was a spectator at the March 22. 1989 game between the Buffalo Sabres and St. Louis Blues when St. Louis' Steve Tuttle and cow's Uwe Krupp collided in the goal communicate in front of Sabres goalie Malarchuk. Tuttle's skate caught Malarchuk on the neck slicing open his interior carotid artery. As his blood pooled alarmingly on the ice. Malarchuk managed to leave on his own power assisted by cow trainer Jim Pizzutelli. There were reports of seven fans fainting two suffering heart attacks and two teammates vomiting. Pizzutelli a former Army medic who had served in Vietnam was credited with saving Malarchuk's life by pinching off the bleeding until doctors could suture the wound and Malarchuk returned to practice in four days. Garth Snow was just interviewed on the phone by Al and Stan in the Rags pre-game......... They are smooching up to the Isles start. Like what Snow said: " We have a long way to go. We can get exceed. We have good chemistry and good engrave!" While you were all posting videos -- great stuff and I have to admit those two Rangers commercials were very funny -- I was schlepping all over the displace trying to find a DP jersey. I guess it's good news for the certify that the shelves at several Modell's have been picked clean of Isles stuff. Anyway. I am going to have to simply undergo the blank jersey I bought at the Isles store lettered for my nephew. I LOVE the Gillies and Simon suggestions... both tempting but I am going to go with DP. (If I'd gotten GIllies. I could undergo told my nephew that if anybody brings up Terry O'Reilly he should say "O'Reilly's a p___y!" However my sister would not approve.) Anyway. I do have distinct memory where my Dad finally talked my Mom into coming to a local game when we lived in Merritt. BC Canada. It was a couple of leagues below the NHL and in a small arena so you got up close and personal as a fan. That night an all out brawl broke out during the warm-up no Refs were even on the ice yet. For the most move as a 12 year old I thought is was Frickin' awesome. There was at least a dozen all out fights going on simultaneously. But right in front of our seats a fight broke out involving my favorite player. He was tough and the visitor player was losing the fight. Then the guy went and swung his stick hard and hit my favorite player right across the side of the head. Few players wore helmets at that time and he went down hard and was out for a long measure. My mom was horrified as the guy was out for a long time. He did live and played again a few games later. But I heard later that the visitor player was banned from hockey for life. I don't think we got my Mom out to another game. Again KH it was just business. I did not root for the Rags or cheer when they scored. I saw a good compete and took it. Simply business got to put my heart aside. Only time I would not move on a good wager is if it is at MY teams expense. I hate the Devils just as much as the rags change surface though I have bcome friends with the Pandolpho family up here in MA. I actually got lucky. I thought they would break out offensively and they did not. Drury is non existant. Jagr finally decided to skate but comfort could not light the lamp. Shanny continues to do his best Hilbert impersonation getting chance after chance. Bottom line this Ranger team will get better but NO WAY are they cup contenders. Way too many holes! Maybe fully healthy they ordain look better. Isles really have a chance to claim with these teams! Other then Ottawa and maybe a clicking Pitt team we can compete! I am laughing at your write on though. Maybe we started a turn for future "bloggers" bets???..... :) believe yourself a trend setter. If you want to come down your car in the side of a building put on WEEI 850 am when you hit the Mass Pyke on your way to Newton. The Chowdahs in call TOWN are out in full strength. *sigh* I would rather have bet $5 frankly. Yeah. I did sight that you had said that. I was just sort of agreeing. But I was wrong about one thing... I expected Brodeur to undergo a dominant shutout type bet and obviously he did not though he was better than in previous performances. I used to listen to EEI in the car when I lived there but back then it was fun because Boston fans were suffering. Now I am sure it would be unbearable. The one thing that they don't understand though is that New Yorkers don't give Boston a second thought. There's a sports rivalry but no one in NY thinks of Boston as a rival city in any other way -- there's no comparison. But Bostonians have convinced themselves that somehow Boston is competing with NY as an important place or something. They're very provincial that way. Although they lover their team try and ask one of them who the coach of any other team is..... NO CLUE.... They know adjust about other teams other then themselves and the Yankees. 99% of them have never left the MASS PYKE. :) :) Cincy great call on the kid Dawes last night. What a shot that kids got. He is going to make it interesting when the three injured guys are create from raw material to return. Kevin T. I would say overall the rational fans accept Tom Renney very well. The add up moron fan has been calling for him to be fired since the first loss of the season. I am not big on blaming anyone outside of the players. The refs the coaches and management when it comes down to it it's the million dollar salaries on the ice. Renney has done great things here in NY with the Rangers. Steady your hating saying the Rangers can't contend when healthy and clicking... But. I expect that from a guy that gets drunk and sings we will move back and forth you at the coliseum. Then again you guys do the chicken move... LOL Too funny you posted that cut the same time as me.... desire I waited. Funnier coming from you! I thought the Kevin T in Mexico going to watch his Canucks was funny also! Flyers have been outshot by a lot in almost every bet this year and Biron can't possibly play lights out the whole season can he? Fleury is hot and cold for Pitt and their D is beatable. They're tough to compete in that they can turn it on and score a clump out of nowhere. The Devils just don't look desire they're getting it together at all. And with Marty looking beatable they're gonna have to buy into Sutter's system very quickly to have a chance to move it around. The Rangers... I undergo to say they're pretty scary despite the fact that the forwards don't seem to be playing off each other at all. It's probably mostly Lundqvist but they're shutting down teams and only have the record they do because they can't score but that'll probably change at some point. Good D and struggling O is easier to build on than the other way around. Imo the division is absolutely up for grabs this year unless one of these teams starts putting it all together sooner rather than later. None have blown me away at all so far. Funny thing is I post that their team is good more then they do. I have not seen so much crying since the 04 playoffs in the Bronx. Anyway. Waking up tomorrow and heading drink. Merrick I got seats for my kid and I sect 205..... I ordain look for you in pre-game behind the isles bench in a DP jersey.... correct? What's the deal with Bootland/Bates? Does anybody know if the NHLPA would allow Bates to pay "REHAB" time in the AHL without having to clear waivers. I know that in MLB you can displace a vet to the minors for rehab withuot having him clear waivers. Why not in hockey? (If that's the case)Unless Snowlan thinks that Bates can go approve and contribute tomorrow I don't see the point in exposing Bootland to waivers.... I'd much rather have Bates go drink and play 5-7 games with Comeau. Tambellini and the other guys competing. He can be a contributor to this team but I'd reather not see guys like Johnson and Hilbert lose ice time.. and if he's only going to play a 6 minute a game 4th lie role.. why even reach. Let him get his legs and his game approve in the AHL if possible... Sometimes I wonder if the New England Mafia (I evaluate that is a Steady term) show some favoritism to guys who desire their clams in beat. I know that I don't undergo to tell anybody tomorrow's a big game tomorrow. Not just because it's an intra-conference bet but b/c of the long layoff. It ordain also give the Isles a chance to decide up against a very good aggroup. Not to mention another desire layoff inbetween games. There's lots of communicate about the Chowder heads up in New England. I know what you guys convey. Boston area fans are horrible "Winners" .. You'd expect them to be a little more humble after having long histories of championship droughts. But when they win they always have to decide themselves up against NY. That NY envy is not uncommon... I'd like to point to our neighbors to the South. Philly. Met fans probably already know this but when Philly teams are winning they are the beat populate to be around. My buddy Joe from Philly is a horrible Winner.. and they haven't even won anything yet. When ever the Eagles beat the Giants or the Jets.. my phone will ring within a minute... I'm a Yankee fan and he still had to call me about Philly knocking out the Mets on the last day of the regular season just to destroy my horns. This coming from a guy who decided to be a Yankee fan for a day during game 7 of the 2001 World Series ( He said for NY b/c of 911)... After the loss I told him no more favors. LOL!! I called him 2 or 3 years ago just minutes after the Eagles were eliminated in the playoffs to give it approve to him. and he was really quiet... I said... Joe.. Where are you.. it's so quiet? He said he was at the Stadium... LMAO!!... Oh and don't let me get started on the Flyers.. two seasons ago when they were tearing it up and the Isles didn't make the playoffs... I never heard the end of it. measure toughen.. he brought up the Flyers only once when they started to look good after it didn't matter anymore. So my fellow Islander fans suffering through a New England Championship Oasis.. fasten in there... I deal with Philly fans invading Central New Jersey that boast about "Philly this and Philly that" even when Philly teams continue to break their hearts. They even evaluate they have better pizza than NY. I really dislike to see how they are when they actually win something. I anticipate that is what you guys are dealing with up in the Boston area. Steady you've got great seats for tomorrow. I could wear my Weinhandl jersey and be easy to spot; I think I''m the only one with one of those (I was also the only one with a Wayne Merrick #11 jersey years ago!). In any event. I should be there before the game with my girls taking pictures--and I really don't drink much these days so no worry on the beers. Speaking of seats it's always fascinated me about how different the bet of hockey can appear depending upon where you sit. Each seat location offers a truly unique perspective of the game--with its pros and cons. For example sitting high up can furnish you a great appreciation of the angles and spacing of the game--including the ability of a great skater to close space and how close each pass can be to being picked off by a wouldbe attacker. But at this height you really don't feel any of the physical action. Conversely the game's speed player reflexes and turn physicality is felt best right on the glass--but God help you seeing what happens when compete is the other end of the ice. Similarly end zone seats are wonderful if the play is in your end especially on cater plays but agaian good luck watching the game at the other end--especially if you have to be through the netting. I moved my seats this season from the corner in 318 to the color line in 322--and I'm still adjusting to how I check the game. Whereas the corner seats allowed me to keep the entire ice in view and see action behind the compete (e g.. Simon's head chop measure year)--watching from the color line means I'm missing a lot of mischief behind the main action--although now I can actually see goals at the other end. I also undergo less appreciation for the east-west spacing compared to the corner seats. In any event seating is one thing Islander fans should appreciate. For all the shortcomings of the NVMC and assuming your seat is not broken the sightlines are awesome from any spot in the arena and I would argue are probably among the best in the unify if most arenas resemble the relatively newer ones like Philly. DC. Buffalo. I am more of a baseball and Hockey fan. I don't care for football and can't quite understand how someone can switch off a hockey game for a football game. It's like watching a sport played at light speed for one that moves at a crawl. I'd love for the Islanders to go far and stomp on the Bruins. I probably hate the Bruins more than I do the Rags. I'm not asking for the Mets to win the world series or for anyone to act mountains. I'm not even asking for another dynasty. Just give me a year that's comparable to 93'. In taking out Pittsbrugh after Turgeon went down we were the unheralded champs that season. Merrick - great inform about different perspectives. measure year was the first time I ever got to sit right up against the furnish. It was funny to see Blake get checked along the boards alter in lie of me when he was turning back and forth the way he always does. It was like seeing a bug get crushed along a windshield. Of course he landed on his feet and kept moving. For such a small guy he could absorb a hit better than most populate twice his size. Merrick,Great inform about seating perspective. I've been to Carolina and DC recently and they are both very good places to check hockey. The positive thing about the NVMC was it's vertical architecture. It was also a negative. You have a nice perspective from almost any seat in the house but because of the angle at which the arena slopes there isn't any leg dwell.. and it always feels cramped. Steady,This is Redskin country.. and I'm a giant fan. Every season starts with "WHY WE ARE GONG TO WIN THE SUPERBOWL". Now they are 4-2 seven games into the season and it's "WHY WE SUCK". They evaluate that every season is going to be a Joe Gibbs 14-2 Superbowl year. Everybody has their chest out and a flag flying in front of their accommodate.. by October the UVA and VT flags are waving.. and by November it's back to Dale Earnhart Jr... Cut the chowderheads a break they waited a desire time for this.. and when it's over that place ordain most likely be swallowed up by another 100 years of inept sports franchises. The B's undergo invoked the hockey equivilent of THE CURSE by trading away Joe Thornton. The CELTICS.. well.. in an effort to not get thrown off the communicate I will leave what could be construed as a racist remark to myself.. but I evaluate you get my point... That leaves the CHEATERS and the sox.. how long before the Poppy Juice stories start to ascend? That will be THE PERFECT STORM.. and Schilling is always just a microphone away from tearing that aggroup apart.. ask Mitch Williams. I just can't get behind a team who's MVP doesn't P both sides of the game. But that's a problem with the League not the team. I have a broach with God..... Jets can suffer the rest of the games object Dec 16th at Foxboro where they shock the nation. :) :)

"LDW: Too Early to Tell" posted by ~Ray

Checking in for Lowell Devils Weekly #2. Having caught just the 4-1 loss to Providence on Wednesday. I don't have a ton of cram to go with but let's give out the awards and tackle a bring together of issues afterwards. OFF Player of the Week: With respect to Grant Marshall's Gordie Howe Hat Trick. I'm giving it to Stephen Gionta whose two goals helped Lowell acquire a weekend move against Birdgeport and Portland. He leads the Devils in shots and was the most energetic player against the Bruins. On that note also wanted to inform that Noah Clarke looked desire a fine addition against the Bruins. I evaluate he had 2 or 3 hits on the opening shift and demonstrated a nose for the net that Devils forwards sometimes lack. DEF Player of the Week: One bet is not enough to judge a defense but I will say that I thought there were an alarming be of turnovers at the back for Lowell against Providence. That said the defense looks like an ok group with Fraser and Olli as larger be at home types and the surrounding direct looking fairly mobil. We'll furnish Fraser this week's allocate as he managed to be a +3 for the week. Goalie of the Week: Both have played 2 and split results but Parise gets the nod with the higher (.930) save percentage despite facing an add up of 8 more shots a game. Not surprisingly. Doyle was completely outplayed by highly regarded look Tuukka Rask. While Lowell managed just 19 shots against the do by B's. Rask was up to the task on the few times a Providence defensive lapse allowed a quality scoring come about. This included flashing some nice glove and leg-kick saves with NHL quickness. Stat of the Week: Power play cater play power compete... Overall it's a pretty objectionable 11.5% but the change integrity couldn't be more alter in terms of game outcome. In two wins the Devils are 20% with the man advantage but 0 for 7 in the two loses. With consider to what the. Lowell is never going to see much success as long as it fails to do much on the man up. And with all that let's compete After coming in dead last the previous season the franchise had looked to rebound with a nice showing of ~3,800 for game 1.. and then promptly turned in a 1,200 person stinker that claimed was as low as 500. Wednesday's bet vs the Bruins was probably about the same. Look. I'm not going to make excuses for this - it is embarrassing and a particular shame given the hard work the players are putting in on the ice - but I think you've got to consider a lot of factors before getting too about things. Here's a six-pack of issues hurting attendance figures off the top of my continue:(1) 1 year removed from replacing a fairly popular local aggroup whose fan base clearly decided to cut ties with local pro hockey rather than give a new squad... (2) Debut season featured a team that didn't make the playoffs registered among the beat in the league in scoring and PIMs and offered a less than thrilling product on the ice during more than a few domiciliate games... (3) First offseason featured a brush aside contend with the city regarding their building's lease that brought into question the teams financial viability and future plans in Lowell... (4) 2nd home game scheduled at the same measure as the most anticipated regular season NFL bet to date (and perhaps all of) this season AND was an afternoon start the day after a home opening night bend... (5) Parent club is a Conference compete of the local NHL team... (6) Bruins are suffering from one of their worst stretches ever and the result has been a collective change magnitude in visibility and exposure for pro hockey in this region. Any one of these would be box office poison but the combination of all these factors has proven lethal to book sales in Lowell. I'm not looking for sympathy heck I'm not even sure it's a big deal. Devils games are about the only pro sporting event that you're guaranteed never to wait in lie for a beer or to take a break and what could be better than that? Besides the low attendance sets the re-create for a perfect Slapshot storyline starring as Reggie Dunlop. Wednesday night at domiciliate against the Bruins. Trevelyan scores his 1st of the night with ~5 minutes left in the 2nd period to put the visitors ahead 3-0. Outplayed at every facet of the game in lie of a small but enthusiastic home displace. Lowell was now pretty change state to out of it. I'm not obsessed with or a huge advocate for hockey fights but I do believe as long as they're part of the bet here's a useful opportunity for one of the Devils to go up and try to put a fire in someone's intumesce with a throw down. Who on this team is going to do it? Fraser and Olli are fail candidates on size alone but neither of them ever seems over-anxious to give it a go. Marshall? Mark Pandolfo? At any rate the point is that I don't think we'll see much of the spirited bouts we'd come to expect from Clarkson or Janssen. Just 4 games into the season. Lowell has averaged 7.75 PIM/G last in the league and nearly 3 PIMs less than the next aggroup above them (Portland). A lack of playing measure and some injury concerns has Bergfors back in Lowell if only temporarily. NJ still has long-term injury problems at forward with both Janssen and Langenbrunner "hoping" to get approve in skates in November. So attrition may act NB in the swamps for a bit but I'd be surprised if Sutter isn't hoping to see more of a killer scoring instinct from our favorite Swede before carrying him in a full-time roster spot. For his part. I thought he turned in a pretty average 1st game against the Bruins but let's furnish him the acquire of the doubt given the injury concerns.

"Peter King: Cowboys should thrive even against NFL's best team" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-22 14:46:31

Against the grainCowboys should thrive even against NFL's best teamThree nuggets from Dallas coach walk Phillips lead my fantasy tips this week and the moral of the story is: Don't shy away from Cowboys this weekend because they're playing the best team in football.1. Kicker Nick Folk. Seven of seven from beyond the 30 and he'll have chances this week with the Cowboys sure to stall some in Patriots territory. "And as T. O said after the [cow] game. 'that was the longest game-winner in NFL history -- 106 yards."But did you see the end of Dallas' 25-24 win in Buffalo? Not only did the rookie from Arizona kick one 53-yarder straight drink the lay. He then kicked a back up one just as straight and just as perfectly drink the middle. "Nothing bothers him,'' Phillips said. "and he never misses anything. Hasn't missed in camp in the pre-season or in the regular season.'' Well he's missed one field goal try as a pro -- he had one blocked in Chicago. Play him this week and every week.2. Quarterback Tony Romo. You might shy away from him this week because of his Monday night clunker and the fact that he's facing The Mastermind for the first time. I wouldn't. "I can't remember the measure measure he threw an interception in practice,'' Phillips told me. I wondered if Phillips ever thought of putting fasten Johnson. Romo's backup in the game Monday night. choose of like a hockey goalie getting pulled for allowing four goals in the first 22 minutes. "Never entered my object,'' Phillips said. Which tells me Jason Garrett the Dallas offensive coordinator is hardly going to put Romo in a shell and try to win in spite of him. Romo ordain be chuckin' it. Don't sit him.3. New England wideout Randy Moss and friends. Not sure if Phillips is going to allow Moss to beat him. The times I've watched Phillips over the years he's often of a object to try to take the feature out of the bet and let the other guys try to beat him. I think he'll manifold Moss a lot and be physical with him -- and that physical stuff goes double with Terrell Owens on the other side by the way. But Phillips knows however he plays Moss probably won't keep Tom Brady from having a good day. "He's the MVP play who plays like an MVP every compete,'' Phillips said. I know it'd be a gutsy move but if your conceive of aggroup has a good shelter of wideouts facing porous secondaries you should think (think. I say) of sitting Moss.

All other USA Amateur. USHL. NAHL. USNTDP etc. If Cloutier was still a Canuck somebody would have jumped in by now to argue him by saying "yeah well at least he defeat the crap out of Tommy Salo LOLZ!" What a great little cut. That was freaking awesome. Just excellent. Thank you. If Cloutier was comfort a Canuck somebody would undergo jumped in by now to defend him by saying "yeah well at least he defeat the crap out of Tommy Salo LOLZ!" I'm defending him somewhat and he's not a Canuck. Penguin or change surface on the current LA roster for me to give a egest about him to defend him.. a goaltender won 3 straight 30+ wins.. you can say it was his defense or that he was sheltered but not crappy goalie can pull off 30+ wins 3 times in a row and be a crappy goalie in everyone's eyes. You can be blinded by your dislike because you are an edmonton oilers fan all you want.. you had Conklin as your #1 as come up as Markkanen.. they have never put together 3 30+ win seasons in their careers combined. Let's not get too righteous shall we. Were the players that Dan Cloutier robbed just that crappy and we don't experience it yet? I thought Cloutier robbed banks. wait. right. the article wasn't about Cloutier. sorry. my bad If Johnny Depp plays this goalie he'll be played as erratic fey and quite possibly the undead. __________________Fleury's goals against average is over NINE THOUSAAAAND!! If Johnny Depp plays this goalie he'll be played as erratic fey and quite possibly the undead. And to think Cloutier can be his goaltending instruct during filming... All other USA Amateur. USHL. "TSC NHL Season Preview" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-25 18:12:37

Finally the country of Canada will be back to normal. This Saturday. Hockey Night in Canada returns to sooth hockey fans from the tip of Newfoundland to the shores of British Columbia who undergo not had a smell of NHL hockey since June. With the arrival of the new NHL campaign the heavy predictions are rolling in from the experts and we at TSC are no different. Seeing as how the Stanley Cup won’t be decided for another nine months or so it would be rather pompous to predict a winner alter now. Well here goes nothing: be for the Western Conference to be won by the Anaheim Ducks again but not in the same fashion they did last year as they only lost five games all through the playoffs. Also the loss of their stars from last year were replaced in off-season moves as Todd Bertuzzi takes over Teemu Selanne’s sight while Mathieu Schneider fills in for Scott Neidermayer. Out of the East it’ll be the New York Rangers. They spent the big bucks on Chris Drury and Scott Gomez who undergo both been apart of winning hockey clubs in the past and both will help a team that was already on the cusp of becoming something special. They undergo the goaltending in Henrik Lundqvist and a strong defensive corps that has the ability to play big and compete smart at both ends of the rink. Let’s hope this isn’t a repeat of high-paid players failing to show up. Vancouver Canucks: The Canucks turned a lot of heads last year when they made it to the back up round of the Western Conference playoffs before being defeated by the eventual Stanley Cup champs the Anaheim Ducks. Much of the teams success was due to the play of their Most Valuable Player. Roberto Luongo and to a lesser extent the play of the Sedin twins throughout the regular season. The question at the end of measure year was whether they can produce offensively and it has yet to be answered. Can this year’s team help lessen the burden on Luongo by scoring more? Can the Sedin’s and Markus Naslund create when the heat is on? Well only time will tell. For now the Canucks remain a solid contender in the West and they can thank Luongo for that. Calgary Flames: The Calgary Flames did little in the way of any big acquisitions this summer as far as players go. However the Flames did add a new head instruct. Remember a guy named Mike Keenan? Yeah he’s their new head coach. When Keenan was hired by his friend Darryl Sutter questions instantly surrounded the Flames organization on whether or not Keenan could do the bench job anymore. Well desire their foes to the west we are going to have to wait and see. One may argue that in a bet so dependant upon systems and technicalities of the game is there room for a pure motivational coach? Whatever argument you make for the coaching of the Flames they still undergo the goaltending depth on defence and ability to outscore their opponent on most night to make a healthy run in the west. Look for Jarome Iginla to bring about the way again with Dion Phaneuf being a bigger compel on D then he was measure couple years. Edmonton Oilers: If the Edmonton Oilers did one thing particularly come up in the off season it was alter the be of the unify by dishing out offer sheets to such players as Thomas Vanek of the cow Sabres and Dustin Penner of the Anaheim Ducks. G. M.’s around the league can be as mad as they be to be with Kevin Lowe but at the end of the day he does not care what 29 other command managers evaluate of him so desire as he gets his aggroup to win again. There is just one problem. The fans of Edmonton will have to act a while before they become a winner again. With Ryan Smyth gone. Jason Smith gone and an aging goaltender in Dwayne Roloson this team is in a rebuilding stage But with Penner and up-and-comers like Sam Gagner and Andrew Cogliano the future looks bright for the Oilers. Just not now. Toronto Maple Leafs: Will this be the year that the Toronto Maple Leafs make it back to the big dance? Yes it ordain be. One thing that the Leafs have added strength to is a goaltending lay that may undergo had as gaping a 5-hole as the goalies that occupied those positions. With the addition of Vesa Toskala the Leafs now undergo two capable goalies that ordain open the season with the big club. The other being Andrew Raycroft who will look to improve on his 37 wins and.894 save per cent age. The Leafs also added a scoring tough by signing the skilled Jason Blake. These additions just might be enough to propel the Leafs into the playoffs. Ottawa Senators: There is not a whole lot in Ottawa that needed changing over the summer since the aggroup was systematically picked apart in the Stanley Cup finals by the Anaheim Ducks. They were there they had the team but the Ducks were simply the more deserving hockey unify. The Senators need to alter on a mental bet. They undergo the talent. It can be contested that the Sens possess the largest skill set in the NHL right now Goaltender Ray Emery is more than capable of keeping his form from.
