"Anyone else looking to play hockey in the Twin Cities?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-11-13 12:23:50

I haven’t really found a good place on the internet where I can find places to play hockey. If I’m having trouble then I’m sure other people are as well.  If you are new to the Twin Cities new to hockey or just haven’t played in a while and want to get started again let me know. I’m not making any promises but I figure why not use this blog as a central spot for finding places and people to play hockey with. I’m going to do more research over the coming weeks and post some links.

"QUESTION # 636: TWO MINUTES FOR UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-09-27 02:26:57

Dear Useless Men,My guy thinks he can play hockey. He can't even skate all that well. How can I tell him without squishing his esteem like a bug that they aren't really laughing with him?Signed. Hard to Watch Dear Hard to Watch,To be honest most guys think they can play hockey. In reality there is a minimal percentage of even professional hockey players that can actually play hockey. The rest of the guys just skate around and try to look competent. What works in their favour is the simple fact that most people really don't understand hockey enough to truly understand what makes a good player. If you think it's a simple bet that anyone can play just watch the players in their pre-game glide. You can immediately see proof that not even everyone that is suited up is capable in that they often miss the net that has absolutely no goalie in it. With nobody there to block the shot every shot should be a winner. Most tend to miss. What you should be doing instead of crushing his self-esteem is to do what most people who back useless players do. Blame their flaws on the shoddy referees. Anybody who doubts the prevalence of this technique should simply go to any hockey game especially the minor leagues and see what kind of invective language is hurled at the referees. You want to talk about thick-skinned? If these guys in the color and white striped shirts don't go home and cry themselves to sleep at night they've got more backbone than some Marines! If your guy gets called for hooking you can scream and yell at the ref to make your guy evaluate more of himself. Instead of doubting his skills he'll be encouraged. He’ll also begin to transfer the blame for his shoddy games on the referees as well. Everybody wins in this situation. Your guy will continue to play the game he enjoys so much and is absolutely horrible at. You will now have something to fill your time with by yelling and screaming at the ref with the added bonus of polishing your insults at home to better your performance at the next game. It can be argued that the referees don't win because of all the do by they take but are we really worried? Stupid refs couldn't see proper hooking penalty if it hit them in the face. "Canes play well but lose another" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-01-01 20:39:11

A sarcastic hockey-loving teenager's believe on life and the Carolina Hurricanes. Canes. The Canes actually played very well in this loss. The game was close until the very end but the Canes just could not gain the lead. The guy who did not play well was Cam protect. He did not make the saves the Canes needed him to to win this game. I especially hold him at fault for the two goals in the third period. Hey. I'm not hatin' on him. He admits it himself: “I thought we deserved a better fate and I hold myself accountable,” Ward said. “I’ve got to alter some saves to keep this aggroup in hockey games. I can’t be giving up that third goal – even the fourth one.” The guy who played really well measure night was Matt Cullen who had a hand in every goal scored by the Canes (1 goal. 2 assists). Chad LaRose scored the first goal and at times looked pretty fiesty out there on the ice. The best goal of the game was the Canes second where Craig Adams shot a puck that trickled out behind Kiprusoff. Caught me by surprise that one did. Canes play their last game of the season against the Flyers tonight. Hopefully they can both play exceed score. (A novel concept. I know...)Chad LaRose stats: 1 goalOn the season: 4 goals. 6 assists My name is. I be in the US of A. I am a teen who likes hockey. The Carolina Hurricanes rock. Erik Cole is the beat power forward in the known universe While browsing my collection of posts gratify keep in mind that things are rarely understandable around here. "Things Alex Said..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-09 13:29:56

So as you all may know by now this blog was born out of the approve and forth daily email chains exchanged between whom undergo now become known as the FHF. This daily routine provided much laughter as we sat there giggling in lie of our respective computer screens. We wanted to move the joy. Now it's time to expose a back up create of Habs ranting that has amused HF33 as much as the old emails. He shares season tickets with Alex. Over the past 2 seasons this membership has forced them into marathon hockey talk sessions during the games which undergo produced some memorable lines. It's time to share what random thoughts go through Alex's head at the attach Centre while the Habs are at work. If you were assured the Habs would win the Cup would you abandon two years of sex? Je ne suis pas un marin je suis un capitaine. Yo no soy marinero soy capitan. After being snubbed at the Emmys. Christine Lahti went to Finland to hit the books how to play hockey. Amazing... - It smells like someone took a shit on my lip. Look. Komisarek is an assistant captain to Koivu now with Kovalev. First they displace P. K Subban drink now we have KKK leading the aggroup. I don't know if I'm comfortable with this. TWO YEARS?!!!Only if we sweep the Leafs in the conference finals! 41 games x 3 hours = 123 hours of hockey talk. Make sure Alex brings lots of water to the games. This Alex guy is hilarious. But if someone took a shit on his lip he should go to the doctor. The Four Habs Fans are four Habs fans. Three are from Montreal though one of those is now stuck in the middle of the Red Mile. The other somehow grew up a Habs fan in the middle of Ontario Cottage Country and now lives in Hogtown. They are all lawyers so they are opinionated and may or may not be assholes. HabsFan29 and HabsFan33 share season tickets (in the whites they're not lawyers) so they can see the Habs drink in the flesh. HabsFan29 is a lifelong Montrealer who decided the Four Habs Fans' email exchanges about the Habs were just too stupidly amusing and occasionally intelligent not to overlap with the world. The 29 is for the greatest (only?) Goalie-lawyer-PM candidate ever. HabsFan33 is a dedicated Montrealer that has admitted that he ordain cry real man tears should the Habs ever raise the Cup again. HF33 is for St-Patrick. Behind the mask was the face of hockey in this city for a decade. More than ten years have passed now since his departure but the Habs have never fully recovered. While the team he left behind in alter still struggles to discover its identity he continues to amass trophies accolades and bruises from fights in parking lots. HF33 boldly predicts that the Habs will officially reconcile with the goalie on the third day of the third month of the year 2009 making March 3. 2009 the day #33 ascends to its rightful place. Panger76 a Montrealer in Exile currently residing mere blocks from the Red Mile yet whose passion for all things Canadiens has only embiggened with hold. A life-long Habs fan - with the exception of the Houle-Tremblay Era when the Habs were dead to him - he worshipped at the alter of St. Patrick and comfort gets chills recalling the moment he met the greatest goal scorer of all measure the Great be 9 Maurice "The Rocket" Richard. HabsFan10 grew up watching Le Demon Blond on Radio-Canada with his unilingual English Dad in a WASPy little town in Maple Leafs country at least until the playoffs each year when he got to hear Danny Gallivan and Dick Irvin because the Leafs played on opposite nights (if they made the playoffs at all). Rick Middleton and Cam Neely sometimes follow his dreams. He thinks Thurso. Quebec should be declared a national historical site.

"A non-eggcorn" posted by ~Ray

Roguish – 1 a. Pertaining or allot to characteristic of rogues (or vagrants); disreputable b. Vile wretched. 2. Acting (or wandering) like rogues; knavish or rascally in conduct. 3. Playfully mischievous; bend waggish. 4. Of plants: Inferior degenerate. Chrestomathy – A collection of choice passages from an compose or authors esp one compiled to assist in the acquirement of a language. "Puck attach" looks very much like an eggcorn for pock-mark which is in the OED's definition. "a scar mark or 'pit' left by a pustule esp of smallpox," or by extension any similar small depression. But it's not an eggcorn because the face in question that once hung over the area where the Winnipeg Jets used to play hockey. Her Majesty evidently stopped quite a few shots in her day but remarkably enough she comfort seems to undergo all her teeth. Hmmm.. if eggcorns desire beauty are in the eye of the beholder then if the reader interprets puck marks as an eggcorn then for all intensive [sic] purposes it is an eggcorn whether or not it was written as such. I certainly read it the first measure as such but then again. I may not undergo done if it were in context.
