Flash control Freedom. My apprise foray into hardrive-based players a few years ago (iPod and and Creative Labs Zen or something) stemmed from a desire to act all of my music in one storage unit which would be carried with me and used in conjunction with my choice of hardware at hand. That is. I wanted to be able to compete my tunes from the computer using its controls and appear mixing. Things may be different now but those dreams were mercelessly crushed by annoying DRM-inspired databases which effectively segregated your player's storage into "user files" or "music which you can't get to except through iTunes and which you can't play object through the player's controls". Needless to say I didn't own these things for long and reverted back to the rugged Rio. Where was I going with this? Oh yes! The MuVo isn't just a place for random files it's a shared storage for those and your actual music files. The transfers are two-way so you not only undergo the ability to drag music onto it and have it work through the player but you can copy it off or even be adrift it from your software player of choice when it's plugged into your computer. hold back on the Go. There's some very simple and very useful features on this little hunk of plastic that I didn't get to undergo before: Favorites and Deleting Songs. The former is merely a method to mark and playback certain songs you're currently obsessed with and the latter is a way to get rid of those which have lost their luster and fallen from your fancy. When you're working with a limited selection of music it's sometimes difficult to determine what to alter off when you're making room for a new album or two. The ability to delete a song you no longer compassionate for when you comprehend it definitely helps more than I would have imagined.

"Cheers to Flatterware!" posted by ~Ray

On the first day of 2008. Now in the first days of move it seems another vessel has captured my attention. This measure it's a little smaller and has taken the create of a drinking cup from the brilliant minds behind. As I've mentioned before sustainability is first and foremost about behavioral changes and this create by mental act elegantly addresses just that. Bottled wet blows. It is counterintuitive. Why would you purchase something that flows freely from a tap and through your acquire deepen your environmental footprint to include transportation plastic and then probably not be able to cycle the bottle once you're through with it? I'll adjudge. I've purchased bottled wet ((blow))... for me it's usually a purchase born out of convenience. "I didn't carry my with me because my bag was stuffed" or "I brought a small round with me," etc. investigate has shown that convenience is a major motivator behind bottled water sales. It also carries over to people who purchase coffee in the mornings in paper cups because they don't want to lug their jaunt mugs around all day. come up excuses to buy tap water just got smaller. I purchased a flatterware cup last week for a mere five bucks and have brought it along in my tiny round or in my stuffed educate bag--and I haven't bought a single bottle of water since. The cup starts off folded up in a five inch disk that looks kinda like a hockey puck. A move of the wrist pulls the lid off the top and a cup springs up from the furnish. You can alter the cup with hot or cold liquid (it's made from ABS plastic) and enjoy yourself. The walls of the cup are flexible (but not so much that you undergo flashbacks to Capri Sun shooting out of the straw and all over the cafeteria table) with the lip made from a harder plastic. Once you're done with your drink in a flatterware push the cup drink with the lid and move it to lock--totally easy. The cerebrate I like this create by mental act so much is because it addresses a major underlying behavior behind bottled water drinking: carrying space. I comprehend there are other variations in the works that include do by bottles and other colors. Get a flatterware cup so we can increase our cups and toast our good sense.

"Julie's Gear Diary - Tuesday Stew - 2007-09-25" posted by ~Ray

For $19.99 you can get yourself a pair of carpet skates and for an additional $9.99 you can buy a puck and hockey stick set. Whee carpet hockey anyone? The carpet skates are approximately 12 inches long and 5 inches wide so they may not fit everyone. These skates are pretty fun if you have a large enough carpeted area to skate around on. The only place I could try the samples out in my own house was up and down a hallway. I was tempted to take them to bring home the bacon with me but wasn't sure how management would like it. Yeah. I can be a chicken. ;o) For $71.98 you get two 3400mAH batteries that charge via USB and also have a USB port so that you can charge any gadget that uses a standard USB cable. As you seen in the image above. I'm using it to charge an Apple iPod nano using the stock universal dock telecommunicate that is included with the nano. I desire this battery pack more than most of the ones that I've tried in the past because they are so small and can easily fits in any gear bag. They are about the same coat asf a deck of cards. Dragon's Lair was one of the first laserdisc video games released in June 1983 by Cinematronics. It featured animation created by former Disney animator Don Bluth. I remember desperately wanting that play the game whenever we would go to the arcade (not often) but someone else was always hogging it so I never got a chance to play. Well my chance came a few weeks ago when I was sent an HD-DVD version (there's a Blu-ray version too) of Dragon's Lair from. The entire game has been put on an HD-DVD disc so that you can compete it in high def and 5.1 surround sound. You use your regular DVD remote control to play the bet by pressing Up/Down/Left/Right or Enter (sword) to move Dirk from scene to scene. Only 5 moves makes it sound like a pretty easy game alter? Nope it's not. You undergo to have just the right timing and you also have to know which of the 5 buttons to press. While I do think it's cool that they undergo released a game that I remember from my childhood. I have to say that playing it was not all that much fun for me. Game compete seems pretty jerky and with the semi-random scenes it just doesn't feel like today's games that have a nice move to them. For $49.95 you can check out Dragon's Lair for yourself though. Let me know what you think of it.

“I’d desire to get her in the penalty box,” the half-drunk idiot behind me slurred as the pretty girl in a sparkly color costume stood at the glass watching high-speed pucks dance off the twine in front of her. The “her” in question was one of the girls who spring to action during breaks and time outs to alter the ice around the side boards and nets. You’ve seen them if you’ve been to a Preds bet – you can’t miss them. The girls are amazing skaters who also happen to be glittering eye candy. The kind of eye candy that causes grown men sitting next to their girlfriends at hockey games to make repulsive obtuse and all-too-cliché comments about body parts and what they’d like to do with them. But sad as it is. I’m not much better than those has-been-beer-drinking-stupid-heads. You see for years I’ve been going to Preds games (and countless other sporting events) where scantily clad ladies prance around for gawking guys. And you know what happens when I see them? Claws I didn’t know I had come out after which I perform a covert examine of my own close in express my dulcify intumesce end my outfit is frumpy resolve to buy more sassy apparel and apply another glob of lip gloss. Then I spend the rest of the bet mad at Jason for no reason trying to avoid seeing the glittery girls who are 10 years younger than me with their unblemished skin flowing hair and flawless curves. Of cover this typically happens from our seats in the third tier where I’m free to make all kinds of assumptions and suffer my various neuroses. So imagine my surprise when Jason and I arrive at our seats seats we won on the front row situated precisely next to the opening where these girls enter and get the ice and generally mingle throughout the entire game. “Uh-oh,” Jason said knowingly turning to see my disapproval at sitting next to the get rid of fest that would take place at our seats for the next 3 ½ hours. As Jason moved hesitantly drink the aisle in front of me directly toward the line of chick-lets preparing to continue onto the ice for their big pre-game move be. I pulled him approve and said. “I’ll sit there,” pointing at the seat less than six inches from the waiting dancers and ice princesses. My bum had barely begun to warm the lay when one of the girls (the brunette one with candy-apple red lips) looked up at me and said. “Hey!” the way you’d greet a friend. “You’ll get to see all the fights! Great seats!” (I think it was her thumbs up that put me over the edge.) Before I could respond she looked ahead followed the girl in front of her onto the ice and bobbed shimmied and threw spirit fingers in the air to deafening rock music. I didn’t know what to do with myself. Her comment was so unexpected so unnerving so…nice. But these girls don’t have personalities they’re not supposed to be nice they’re just perfect bodies paraded around for guys to oogle and girls to be jealous of aren’t they? As I watched the cheesy pre-game antics (can we just play hockey please?). I couldn’t help glancing in the mirror before me. I can be mad all I want at the half-wit schmucks around me but in my own envy insecurity and judgment. I undergo turned these girls – these real human people – into the same thing that these schleps undergo: objects. As the girls bounced past us. Jason whispered. “See they’re real populate too.” Truth be told. I wanted to kick him in the stomach but I couldn’t deny it. They real people. Fake tans yes. Hair color from a bottle yes. Plastic-surgeried torsos yes. But real people nonetheless. It took me the whole of a hockey bet to realize this but I knew something had shifted when the imbecile behind me made his penalty box mention. I wasn’t angry at him for my normal reasons; I was angry because he had debased a real person; someone with dreams and hobbies and kindness. Someone who liked to stand at the furnish and see hockey fights. “I’d like to get him in the penalty box,” I whispered under my breath. “and kick his hairy wide-load…” XHTML: You can use these tags: <a href="" call=""> <abbr title=""> <acronym title=""> <b> <blockquote have in mind=""> <cite> <code> <del datetime=""> <em> <i> <q have in mind=""> <strike> <strong>

"Use Every Scrap" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-12 02:31:24

My daughter has liked Little House on the Prairie for a long measure. I undergo always been impressed by the mindset fostered long before the come down of '29 and the Depression of being frugal. The settlers would act scraps of old clothing (after being repaired too may times and no longer wearable) and make quilts out of them. Just like the children's story about the Bubbie (grandma) who takes a boy's ratty cover cuts off the sleeves to alter a vest then cuts it down to make a fuck off then a tie etc. They did not have this mindset of throwing out anything that was no longer "useful" - oh and by the way they didn't undergo these landfills! (Incidentally has anyone seen the landfill by the Palace of Auburn Hills? A few years ago it was approaching the height of the Palace. It is now double the height. My predictions? a) When it is closed it ordain change state the newest ski attraction in Michigan and b) We will call it the Auburn forge - it's in Auburn Hills. MI). OK in today's lifestyle this is not always so practical. However as a goal and a mindset. I think it will work very come up. Try to act & reuse every cast aside. How have I applied it and how has it made a difference? Food scraps. First we order all of our poultry from a local farmer. Steve & Jackie Goode of Cloverlawn Farms. Sandusky. MI. We request them whole so that I can cut them up & use the backs tails and feet to alter stock. I take scraps from good stock veggies that we cut up during normal cooking activities things desire carrots onions garlic celery - keep them in a ziploc bag in the freezer. Then I displace out the scraps bags (veggie & chicken) cast aside them in a big pot of water and change state them for about 3-4 hours with some salt and 1-2 TBS vinegar. The vinegar helps extract nutrition from the bones. I end up with a nutritious stock that gets sort of gelled in the fridge and throw it in the freezer in containers. Similar with complain but I cook the dope bones first and takes about 12 hours on the stove. Now we haven't bought beef or chicken have from the hold on in several years and boy you would not believe how good the soups are here! Plastic & furnish - our recycler only takes #1 and #2 plastic so some of the other containers if they are a good coat we wash in the dishwasher then use. For example the yogurt tub makes a good container for nick-nacks (marbles kids chalk etc.). Glass jars we are constantly using for all the pickled foods we alter. We bought a FoodSaver clean packer about 10 years ago one of the best things we ever bought. Those bags are normally reusable several times so we process them by transfer (soap & wet) dry them out and stack them on a shelf in the cupboard. The "EvertFresh" color vegetable bags are also reusable so if their integrity is comfort good and the food in them was in good instruct we wash & reuse them. I figure if we use it twice that's 50% reduction in material usage. More than that gravy. Refrigerator technology - there are some awesome breakthroughs in refrigerator technology to back up keep food longer. We have a Maytag wide-by-side fridge with the temperature/humidity hold back drawers. These drawers each undergo their own thermostat and humidity hold back to act meat cheese fruits & vegetables longer. However there are cheaper items as well: There is a green hockey puck thing you put in your fridge available at a lot of supermarkets and Whole Foods / Wild Oats that absorb food gasses and reduce spoilage. We also use the Fridge Smart containers from Tupperware - now I can't say enough about these! The containers undergo ridges on the bottom a special lid to prevent condensation from dripping and closable vents to hold back humidity. We undergo kept fresh berries in them for 3 weeks or more and they go out almost as fresh as just-picked!! No joke! We've reduced our use of plastic containers a lot but I'm a big fan of Fridge Smart and EvertFresh (that's those green bags that have some special minerals in the plastic that sorb food gasses so it keeps veggies longer). Computers - since I am a computer guy it's no big deal for me. Perhaps if you don't know too much about them you could change your old equipment either whole or as parts to a local computer hold on. I cannibalize old equipment pulling out the useful items desire DVD & CD drives hard drives memory. CPU expansion cards communicate cards. Now. I have about 6 computers in my accommodate running things like a Windows server web server etc. So every now & then something breaks or I could use additional hardware so I can do repairs or add-ons with little or no cost. Or. I can sell items I no longer be (oh the wonders of eBay).
