I figure I'll steal and do weekly power rankings of the 30 NFL teams. Feedback would be great. I'll start off this week by ranking the teams based on the whole toughen thus far and then affix a new set of power rankings each week (maybe Tuesdays since that's when I'm starting this). (16-3-0) - There's no doubt the Sens have been the class of the league thus far. Daniel Alfredsson is getting better with age and Martin Gerber filled in so come up for Ray Emery while Emery was hurt that Emery can't seem to get back into the net because Gerber just does not lose. (14-5-1) - The Red Wings win with Dom Hasek in net. The Red Wings win with Chris Osgood in net. The Red Wings might win with Dan Cloutier in net the way they've been playing. Henrik Zetterberg may be the best all around player in the unify. (12-6-3) - After missing the playoffs last year and making no real significant changes in the offseason the Hurricanes have found their game again. One of the deepest offensive teams in the league with the likes of Rod Brind'Amour. Cory Stillman. Justin Williams. Eric Staal. Ray Whitney and Matt Cullen leading the charge. Cam Ward is also approve to his Stanley Cup create after an off year measure year. (11-6-3) - Myabe the biggest surprise so far is the great start of the Habs. Alex Kovalev is on pace for a 40 goal toughen his best since 2000-2001 with the Pens whether he can maintain his hot pace will be key in the direction the Habs act to continue. Carey Price is also trying his damnedest to take the starter job away from Cristobal Huet with his stellar compete so far. (11-7-1) - After finishing last last season and making some major changes in the offseason the Flyers have come out of the gates this year a much exceed hockey aggroup. Martin Biron is playing very well establishing himself as a true number 1 goalie in the NHL for the first time in his career. Daniel Briere has been great as come up and when Simon Gagne is healthy it will only back up the Flyers. (12-8-1).

"Core Value" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-01 23:08:50

When you're building a young team you undergo to be able to see a future worth struggling for. Is all this losing all these games where you're ripping your hair out because the team can't advance a bloody goal to save their lives all these angry message board or communicate posts that discourage you is it all going to be worth it? Is there enough there to make you feel good about where the aggroup is going. Problem #1 is that getting Dustin Penner takes away the "well if we store at least there's a high compose pick in it" factor. So you can't actively hope for the Oilers to drink. You comfort hope they alter the playoffs and experience with each loss. Whereas measure year once the losing streak started we were all dealing OK with it because we knew there'd be a gift at the end of it. Poor Penner is going to get even more bad karma because of all the grief he's causing. That big oaf better move into a player. He sure shows spurts. (Side inform: can we adjudicate ANYONE's goal scoring ability on this aggroup? Lupul couldn't score here now he's on fire. Pitkanen was a point machine elsewhere so far almost nothing here. Sykora had one of his lowest point totals.. until things go better is this team just going to be a black hole for goals?) Regardless are there players on this aggroup that alter you accept this aggroup could be the Ottawa Senators a few years down the road. Are any of these guys Dany Heatley. Marian Hossa. Jason Spezza. walk color...? It's great to be optimistic about Sam Gagner and Andrew Cogliano. They furnish us fans lots of reasons for optimism. These two kids are going to be NHL players. However are they going to be stars? It's hard to picture it when their own competition in this year's rookie class are all ready doing a lot more to back up their team win. Stack Toews and Kane up with Gagne and Cogliano and you cognise the Oilers dynamic duo isn't likely to go continue to head for the Hart trophy. Looking say 5 years from now who are the guaranteed NHL players from this aggroup? I convey assuming they don't get injured or go through some kind of Tommy Salo meltdown. I'd say those guys are pretty much the only guarantees. You never know what could come about but I'd bet big money on all five having NHL jobs in five years. Matt Greene. Fernando Pisani. Riley Nash. Mathieu Garon. Devan Dubnyk. Kyle Brodziak. Grebeshkov Now ther's other players in the mix obviously. A group including Pouliot. Schremp. Jacques. Deslauriers etc. I'm not comfortable looking that far into the future with any of those guys. So for now I'm excluding them. Lets put this all together though. Based on my rough guesses out of this current group of players what could an NHL roster look desire in 5 years? I don't think they'll score enough goals. change surface in 5 years I have my doubts that they'd score enough goals. There are lots of terrific pieces there but is there a sniper? Are there enough guys that excite you when they're on the rush? I disbelieve it. It's gonna take a lot of work yet.

"Stat sheet re-stuffed" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-22 14:31:00

The NHL has made study changes to the change and look of its — and — and added a few useful stats like shots blocked (so you can evaluate out how many shots a player attempts not just a aggroup) and breaking cater plays down to 5v4. 4v3 and 5v3. (The latter will save me a lot of bring home the bacon — for the past few seasons. I tracked two-man advantages for and against by transfer since the NHL didn't.) All this is supposed to improve the real-time performance on the web. We lose ice time broken drink by even strength power play and bunco handed — which is still available on the — but add goals assists and points on the player-by-player side which saves flipping back and forth between reports. The downside to this system is that Sunday's box score is riddled with errors. Names are wrong — at least three for Carolina. Penalties are missing. Power-play goals are listed as even strength. Carolina's five-on-three goal to win is listed as five-on-four. Have to classify this as a work in develop for now. "Falcons Week #2: Jacksonville Jaguars" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-12 02:37:44

bet AnalysisIf the NFL only played 3 periods desire the NHL and neither team could kick handle goals for points the Falcons win this game. Once again the story for this week is the passing game and kicking handle goals. The Falcons offensive line is really struggling against teams pass rushing and blitzing. Defenses are stopping the run and the Falcons are finding themselves in a lot of third and longs and teams are just having a handle day blitzing and adding to their take totals. The Falcons gave up 7 sacks this week and gave up 6 sacks measure week. Harrington has no measure to impel the roll once they get into passing situations. Even when Joey has measure to impel he holds onto the ball too long. I don’t experience if it is that the receivers are not getting separation from the defender or if Joey is having a hard time seeing the field. Either way you look at it the results are the same — another take. However the Falcons have shown in the first two games of the season that they are capable of driving drink the field and scoring. In the second accommodate the Falcons put together a nice 73 yard control the resulted in a Warrick Dunn rushing touchdown. Then in the third accommodate the offense had another good control of 59 yards that resulted in a missed handle goal; the back up missed field goal of the game for Matt Prater. After that the momentum switched to the Jaguars who finished the game with 10 points in the fourth quarter to win the bet. This weekly communicate is going to get easier as the year goes along because all I ordain undergo to do is change the opponent label and score the take totals and missed field goals. The bright align of today’s game was the defense. Yeah they gave up some third and longs and they gave up 10 points in the fourth quarter but they were out on the handle a lot in the back up half. Plus I think that missed field goal took the go out of the Falcons sails. John Abraham recorded his first take of the season and the Falcons defensive line played a good bet and held Jacksonville to only 3 points until the fourth quarter. After the missed handle goal the Jaguars started to impel the ball down field and really made it be easy against the Falcons secondary. At one point in the game. Lewis Sanders gave up a bring together of big pass plays and was replaced by rookie Chris Houston. I accept you ordain see him a lot more next week. Not to have in mind that you will also see a new field goal kicker. Petrino was not happy after the second missed handle goal and Matt Prater is now 1 for 4 in attempts after being signed. Where is Morten Anderson?? Upcoming Game AnalysisThe Falcons ordain be at domiciliate this week for their home opener against the Carolina Panthers. This is an important game for Atlanta to try and get their first win against a division rival and put on a good showing for the home displace. If Harrington is sacked 6 times and the hunt fans see missed field goals it could get ugly and the boo-birds ordain start to emit in the Georgia Dome. Abraham had a huge bet against the Panthers measure year before getting injured. Hopefully he can duplicate that performance. I predict the Falcons will go out strong and put more points on the come in then they undergo the last two weeks but only if they hire a new kicker. Even though they will undergo the home field advantage and the players will be pumped up. I do not see the Falcons winning this game. If they do not get compel on Delhomme and double adjoin Steve Smith. Atlanta could be in for a desire day. The Falcons will go to the Panthers 23-17 and start the season 0-3.
