Don Cherry reasserted his position on Saturday night that Vincent Lecavalier of the Tampa Bay Lightning is the best player in the NHL currently. On Monday. Lecavalier was named the NHL’s first star for the second week in a row. This past week saw Lecavalier hive away eight points in two games including four goals and four assists. He tied a career high last Wednesday as the Lightning played the Carolina Hurricanes and Vinnie notched five points including three goals and two assists in a 6-1 victory for his squad. Friday night’s 5-2 victory over the Washington Capitals saw Lecavalier chip in for three points including a goal and two assists. Lecavalier born in Ile Bizard. Quebec is atop the league in points at the moment with 34 total points. He’s four points ahead of Detroit’s Henrik Zetterberg and Pittsburgh’s Sidney Crosby. Lecavalier is tied for third overall in goals with 14 and leads the unify in assists with 20. Often considered the complete player. Lecavalier possesses tremendous vision and creativity on the ice. He’s got ideal size at 6′4 and carries himself tremendously well. Not afraid to muck it up in the corners or drop the gloves. Lecavalier has open a way to change his size to maximize productivity. He also has excellent hand-eye coordination and awe-inspiring instincts. With all of this going for him and obvious statistical accolades piling up it’s hard to imagine that some scouts still consider Vincent Lecavalier to have not met his potential. In fact some hockey pundits claim that Vinnie has a lot left to prove and will brood his current rate of production by a considerable margin. If that’s the case and the scouting reports are correct we could be in for a treat of epic proportions from this young French Canadian hockey player. The NHL’s beat aggroup has fired their head coach. Glen Hanlon was fired a day after a 5-1 home loss handed to the Washington Capitals by the Atlanta Thrashers. Boos and jeers echoed through the arena during the game as well as chants that exclaimed “Fire Hanlon!” Somebody was listening because the Capitals announced the firing on the following day. Hanlon in his fourth season at the helm in Washington will be replaced on an interim basis by Bruce Boudreau the coach of the Capitals affiliate Hershey Bears. Boudreau has compiled a 103-45-11-16 record with the Bears including an AHL-best 51-17-6-6 preserve last season. Seven current members of the Capitals played for Boudreau with the Bears. I’m not sure who they should fire the coach or some of the players. This is the toughest part of coaching. I accept with you it’s always a tough thing when coaches are fired as they really are only one piece of the bedevil when it comes to a successful team. The Capitals haven’t been a winning team in a very desire measure really and it just seems that Hanlon was the ultimate scapegoat here. I evaluate McPhee and the top brass really thought they could buy a team with Nylander this year but that hasn’t turned out so well. They took out their frustrations on Hanlon and fired him. The Capitals are a young aggroup and they lack that locker dwell presence and veteran leadership as far as I can express. I’m not sure any instruct could make that situation work at this point.
