"A conversation with ... Bobby Ryan" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-12-19 16:51:38

“I think this being only the second camp that I’ve really gotten to skate in because the first was an injury case. I feel like I definitely made some strides and improvement. I feel my games’ at a whole different level from where it was last year … I’m a little more comfortable and at ease. I believe that’s important for me. And I’ve gotten a chance to compete with some good players here so I fit in nicely. Hopefully they evaluate the same thing.” “I think that happens with anybody. Guys like Todd Bertuzzi and Ryan Getzlaf you get to bring home the bacon with those guys day in and day out and you start to feel more comfortable. It’s tough because in such a short time frame you don’t really get to develop any chemistry with guys.“But those guys are always in a lay to alter things easier for you because of their abilities.” “Everybody’s going to tell you the speed of the bet is so much different from anything they’ve experienced. I’ve had such a short time frame in the minors. Really when you look at the speed from the OHL (juniors) to the NHL it’s a whole different transition. The speed and the positioning and the guys how well they work how hard they come in and work every day.” “Absolutely. I think especially for me … the last couple of years I got to play against 16- and 17-year-olds. That certainly doesn’t prepare you for these guys. The schedule they’re on and the things they do to alter themselves the best they can be and the strongest they can be is impressive and an eye-opener that’s for sure.” “First off it was incredible just to interact with guys and see the intensity they brought to the rink every morning. It’s something I’ll never forget. Obviously you don’t step on any toes when you’re out here like we were. At the same time we got a chance to sit in on the practices and sit in on some of the game meetings. From something desire that you can act out each guy’s competitive nature. You can really see how much these guys wanted it. (especially) the guys who have been playing for so many years and didn’t have it. It makes you not take any ice time for granted that’s for sure.” “Not much. I was there for about three weeks. The year before that (another late appearance in Portland) was a much different circumstance. We went all the way to the conference finals. That was a year that really became quite an eye-opener for me.“It’s the same thing as the NHL. You take away the competitive nature because there are guys who undergo plugged away in that league for so long looking for their chance to get their dream. … “Obviously you try to put it away as best you can. But obviously there’s a couple of spots open and there’s a few more guys in slots here. You really want to get some feedback and you be to impress to what he likes. He likes a certain call of play. You try and fit that forge every day.“Over the past couple of weeks he’s talked to me a little more on the ice than he ever has and that’s been quite helpful. You can get off the ice and know what you’re doing do by and what you have to do to improve that. measure year I was going into those kind of things alter.” “If any coach is going to yell at you you’ve got to take it with a grain of salt because you realize that they’re trying to help you become a exceed player and change state a better player in this organization and that’s all I want.” “Definitely. And I know he was looking forward to coming out west when the lottery was picked. He thought he was coming here. We went into that compose kind of blind. Nobody really knew where the chips were going to fall. It ended up not working that way for him at the measure but now he’s out here and he’s going to open some eyes.” “There’s distractions anywhere. Southern California’s certainly not the only displace. But coming to this rink and this organization with guys like Brian Burke and Randy Carlyle around really makes you know that when you walk through the door it’s a hockey community. It’s easy to stray away from that desire guys undergo in the past in these kind of areas. But I think Brian Burke and those guys the staff here undergo done an incredible job not to let that happen. The Cup’s here because of what those guys have done for this organization.“Other than knowing my way around and being able to tell guys which freeways to take to get where. I’m going to be living here as a pro blind as come up.” “You experience what? I wish I could tell you. I don’t know yet. I’m hoping to experience that here. But with the group of guys here. I’m sure that there is. I’m sure guys desire Chris Pronger and the veterans who have been great to me the last month and a half ordain do everything to make sure any rookie not just me is comfortable and has a displace to stay and things like that. They’ll take care of you.” “Oh absolutely. I think if you ask some of the guys in the room they say it’s probably getting a little annoying and the coaches as well. But it’s the best way to learn. It’s the best tool we have. After every drill I try to get some feedback from Newell Brown who’s the assistant coach here. At this time in my career you’ve got to be like a pass over and take everything in. That’s what I try to do every day.” “I think my skating. It’s come a long way. I’m a little stronger on my feet things like that and I’m able to control the puck in the corners. But I evaluate my top speed and my agility in my first couple of steps are what are going to hinder me if anything.“It all goes approve always to the go of the game. I’ve got a month out here under my sing with a trainer before dwell started and we made some strides. If I’m here for a year. I’m fully certain I’ll make more.”

Your kids probly getting hammered right now and your lucky that wasnt your car! I dont play for the raptors but you need to forbid putting this bullshit up on that website and you experience what i did play for the team measure year and i had the most fun i undergo ever had in my life. The only thing we ever did on roadtrips was go to clubs and dance which YES does involve alcohol. One challenge for you? Were you once a kid or where you born the develop adult that you are today?? I anticipate writing a big article slandering a aggroup and its players is real mature huh. I just undergo one thing to say. GROW UP. Please do email back because i want to comprehend what you have to say and go ahead put this on your little website to thunderb77@aol com Allow me to act directly to him in order of his statements. I dont know who you think you are but get a life. I have a life including a family a career and a passion for this game. You may not experience who I am but I'll bet your instruct does. In a nutshell. I am someone within this bet that demands accountability from leagues teams coaches and players.. basically anyone within the bet. Maybe you'll understand what that means when you get a little older. anticipate what? Kids do drink beer. Your kids probly getting hammered right now and your lucky that wasnt your car!Why what happens to the car? Oh yes that's right it is vandalized. Yes kids do drink beer. That doesn't make it alter. My kids happen to be 8. 6 and 4 years old so the only hammering that takes displace is by my youngest with his Fisher Price Tool Set. I dont compete for the raptors but you need to stop putting this affect up on that website and you know what i did compete for the team last yearFirst you're not but then say you were a Raptor last season. Nothing I posted was "affect," but basic observation of the video which your own teammates decided to make public. I simply shined a little light on them i had the most fun i have ever had in my life. The only thing we ever did on roadtrips was go to clubs and dance which YES does bear on alcohol. I'm glad you had fun measure toughen but clubs and dancing do not have to involve alcohol. One challenge for you? Were you once a kid or where you born the develop adult that you are today??Was I once a kid? Yes. Did I consume underage? Yes. Did I pay the consequences for that behavior? Yes. Apparently you never have. I guess writing a big bind slandering a aggroup and its players is real mature huh. I did not slander (I'll forbear you the difference between libel and accuse). Everything I observed in my posts was clearly evident in the videos. Two of the three study observations the alcohol and the vandalism you acknowledge in your email. If you don't evaluate anything wrong was done in these videos (and apparently you don't) my only conclusion is that Mack Brown will be phoning you shortly and ask if you'd desire to play football for the Texas Longhorns. I just undergo one thing to say. GROW UP. Likewise young man.. before you find yourself behind bars. Awesome post Marc. I have a son playing in the WSHL this seson and if my son had been involved in activities such as these he would be on the next cut home. As parents who give our young men to the GM's and Coaches of JR. Hockey we should DEMAND more accountability. Patrick Smythe Marc,As a former player in the CSHL and then NAHL and now grown adult and contributing member of society. I have to say thanks for a terrific post. It's not a mystery that kids drink underage. The major difference between kids 10 years ago and kids today is the consider factor respect for others consider for property and respect for elders. During my 4 years of juniors we consumed alcohol and had our own little parties (I'm not saying it was alter) but we never lost focus on the fact that our first job was to play hockey and that many populate put a lot of time effort and money into giving us that opportunity. It was an honor to undergo the opportunity to play for a junior aggroup and we respected that and those who provided that opportunity to us. These kids have disgraced the team and those who have enabled them an amazing opportunity. Some (not all)kids today think it is there right of passage to play a year or two of juniors for nothing more then to celebrate. They have lost consider for all other people and think it is ok to act in this manor. The development of more junior teams both "A" and "B" is a great thing for hockey but unfortunately it also enables players who have other motives for being on the team to participate and taint the others around them. Someone needs to express these kids that Junior hockey is not about drinking beer and destroying property it's about an opportunity; an opportunity to develop your skills for the next aim and an opportunity to create as a person. I not only think your communicate is fantastic but the fact that you pour so much of your free time into keeping all of us updated is amazing!!!!The parents team and league should all act action. Marc,As a parent of a Midget Major player who is striving to get to Juniors thank you for the post and for your blog. I hope the aggroup coaches and parents act challenge. Incidents desire this albeit maybe not the norm potentially damage the opportunity for many current and future players to bring home the bacon their dreams. convey you again for your time and effort to communicate all of us on the developments in junior hockey.

"Oh, by the way...The Western Conference Prognostications" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-22 14:38:16

It occurred to The Peerless that we were only half done with the conference prognostications. So here for your edification and reading enjoyment we carry you The Western Conference:1. San Jose SharksWhy they will be better – Unfinished business. measure year the Sharks were a talented team but one that still had a little green in the lumber and just didn’t undergo the experience in big games that others had. The talent is still there and the undergo gained last year will furnish the Sharks more of a battle-tested be. Why they won’t – They are still very young on defense and lost Scott Hannan to remove agency. Then there is that playoff thing…the Sharks undergo gone out in the third second and second round in the measure three years. Sometimes a club hits that wall and falls approve. Key Player: Joe Thornton. The big guy is starting the first year of a bigger three-year deal. He is “The Man” on this team and if the Sharks hesitate he will be the one bearing the burden of unmet expectations regardless of what numbers he puts up. On paper…this is a aggroup that actually looks more like a aggroup built for the playoffs (unlike say the Red Wings who seem to be regular toughen wonders the past few seasons but fall short in the playoffs). But that measure step is a big one. The question in the accent is. “is Ron Wilson the guy to bring about them there?”2. Detroit Red WingsWhy they will be exceed – Professionalism. Top to bottom from the equipment managers to the owner this might be the beat run hockey franchise in the NHL. They draft well they write come up they coach come up they compete come up. They always seem to find a way to close in the holes left with departing players but this year they added a player with some edge – Dallas Drake – that they’ve seemed to lack since Darren McCarty left the club coming out of the lockout. Brian Rafalski is a nice addition to take some of the fill off Nicklas Lidstrom. Why they wont – Age and style. One starts to evaluate that come 2056 who ever is blogging on hockey ordain be remarking about the ageless Chris Chelios and whether he can continue to be effective. He can’t live forever can he? Then there is the style thing. This is a very skilled unify that ordain run circles around the doormat teams of the league that cannot match their skill level. But it is not a sturdy team in terms of physical style. Will their more slightly-built forwards be folded up in the playoffs? Oh by the way. Lidstrom and Rafalski are 37 and 34 respectively. Key Player – Dominik Hasek. Hasek will be 43 years old on January 29th. Chris Osgood is a capable backup but if Hasek starts feeling his age the Wings have problems. On paper…The only way the Wings do not win the Central Division (probably the weakest – top to bottom – of all) is if Joe Louis Arena falls into the Detroit River with the team skating inside. So what? That’s not what the Lords of Hockeytown are all about. Can they make the finals? It says here. “no.” They’re too similar to the team they were last year.3. Minnesota WildWhy they will be better – Marian Gaborik. Gaborik had 30 goals in 48 games last year. If he comes close to that walk this year the Wild have more than enough on their roster to alter up that one thin point that kept them from winning the Northwest last year. Why they won’t – Niklas Backstrom. When things were new – last season – Backstrom came into the lineup and was one of if not the best goaltender over the back up half of the year. But measure year he played in 41 games as the understudy who made good. This year he’s the guy who is the man who will be counted on to compete 70-or-so games at a high level. He’s playing with a different job description this year. Key Player – Backstrom. The margin of error in this division is tight top-to-bottom – perhaps as much as in the Southeast. The drop-off from Backstrom to backup bait Harding (who has a promising future in lie of him but who has only 10 games of NHL experience) might be too steep for alleviate. On paper…this team is not your father’s Wild. With Gaborik. Pierre-Marc Bouchard. Pavol Demitra and Mark Parrish the team should not suffer for offense. They look to have a nice balance of offense and defense youth and veterans. But in the end it comes drink to “the other Backstrom.”4. Colorado AvalancheWhy they ordain be exceed – They added a dimension of coat they seemed to have in insufficient supply last year. Scott Hannan and Ryan Smyth are the two that provide that dimension while performing at a high aim of talent at their respective positions. This will help less on the offensive side (they tied for the top spot in goals scored) as on what they give up. Why they won’t – Goaltending. Peter Budaj is the Amazing Anonymous Goaltender. Did you experience that he’s played 91 games the last two years compiling a 45-26-12. 2.75. .903 record? Still is he the guy? Key Player – Budaj. He’d better be the guy. Colorado might have topped out on offense so the Avs can’t rely on more to cover any goaltending shortcomings. On paper…this is a pretty solid bet for a playoff team but they are one of those teams no one is going to be giving second thoughts to as a Cup contender. The most interesting thing about the Avalanche is that they are one half of an interesting reflect visualise of themselves in their own division…5. Dallas StarsWhy they ordain be exceed – It’s hard to see how but seeing the problems Nashville had over the summer that no doubt will displace over into the fall and pass the Stars shouldn’t be worse either. They have enough to move up into that schedule. They have a book defensive system and solid goaltending in Marty Turco but this group couldn’t dent the net against air. Why they won’t – They were tied for 21st in the NHL measure year (with Vancouver) in goals scored-per-game. The team they are icing this year doesn’t be to improve on that mark and there is only so much a goaltender of Marty Turco’s ability can alter. Every night is going to be a tightrope walk for these guys. Key Player – Mike Modano. He combined with Brenden Morrow to miss 65 games last year. But even with missing 23 games. Modano’s scoring pace was not on a pace to match his 2005-2006 walk. Since putting up 85 points in 2002-2003 he’s gone 44-77-43. The Stars be him closer to 77. On paper…the Stars have the kind of defensive mind set that will keep them in just about every game. But they have to find scoring from somewhere. They had no 60-point scorer and two of their top four scorers were defensemen measure year (Sergei Zubov. Philippe Boucheer). One of those scorers – Ladislav Nagy – is gone (to Los Angeles). On paper it’s hard to see where that scoring comes from.6. Anaheim DucksWhy they ordain be better – By definition they won’t. You do not improve on a Stanley Cup. You can repeat however and the key to that will be the kids last year – Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry – taking another step forward and having Bobby Ryan not be too much (if any) of a drop-off from the departed Dustin Penner. Why they won’t – More than the loss (presumed) to retirement of Scott Niedermayer there is one number that matters here as far as The.
