"What is the Best NHL hit of all time? - Matchday Four" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-12-19 16:49:48

Recently immortalized in Canadiens lore. Robinson now has the distinction of earning the most lopsided victory in our three-week old contest registered 85 percent of the votes over. This week? We bring it approve domiciliate with one of the most famous hits in Canucks history as well as another classic playoff blast from Scott Stevens. stache. Teemu's double-salto before sticking the landing. Paul Romanuk's highly underrated commentary and of course. Igor Ulanov and Dave Manson looking for frontier justice. This is an absolutely lethal hit (possibly a little late sure) but Selanne deserves a measure of consider for getting back to his feet and skating off under his own power. By the way. Vancouver never should've traded Peca for Mogilny. Just saying. In Soviet Russia party finds you: Scott Stevens sent a playoff bodycheck mixer invite to Slava Kozlov and the former Red Wing was quick to RSVP. At first glance the hit doesn't seem all that impressive; it's big but Kozlov comes to a dead forbid more than anything else. Then they show Kozlov get up with his chinstrap fastened to his nose (in Soviet Russia helmet wears you). Then the ESPN crew shows the slo-mo replay and come up. ROFLMAO. Stevens absolutely killed him. We're aware that this Greatest NHL Hit contest could end up being the Scott Stevens show but we don't compassionate. The guy was awesome. By far the toughest of the four hit matchups we've had so far. Very evenly matched. I think I have to give the nod to Peca with the clincher coming down to making Selanne do a cartwheel. Anytime you can make someone perform gymnastics involuntarily you're doing something right. The reproduce on that Stevens-Kozlov hit was awesome though. Peca all the way.. the topper is that he fractured his own cheekbone in the hit but comfort mixes it up in the inevitable scrum that follows the hit. Massive. The Peca hit is very underrated on hit lists (and also a bit late). The Stevens hit was a Cup winning blow (and not late). Detroit never recovered. Stevens. Peca's was a good shot but no risk in going for that hit at centre ice. Stevens throws his in his own freakin govern! Not worrying about protecting the crease shadowing his man playing the NJ confine blah blah blah. Just punishing people. Wow. Nice matchup. I evaluate I gotta go with Stevens. Seeing Kozlov with his chin strap under his look afterwards is priceless. Plus it was actually a clean hit by Stevens for a change. Peca on Selanne for sure! A.) Peca is so small. B.) Its Selanne. C.) Scott Stevens already has a vote for the hit on Kariya. Love the comment. "Selanne had his head somewhere!" Yeah up his ass. At least that's where is was once little Mike Peca was done with him. Looks like he folded the Flying Fin in two. Brilliant!!! That's what you get for admiring your pass. Stevens because his hit didn't happen 2 seconds after Kozlov gave up the puck. But gotta love the US announcing crew talking about Stevens nailing Viktor Kozlov. It's a tough call but I'm going with Peca on Selanne. Peca's hit was a little late but Stevens was sloppy - he gives up on the compete to make the hit and takes a teammate drink with Kozlov. Stevens. The question you gotta ask is which victim looks more ready to cry? Everyone's alter it's a tight contest. But Kozlov clearly loses his will to live in this clip. Selanne did one and a half rotations. How is this even a competition? Not only that but Downie got 20 games and wasn't change surface in the air--Stevens jumps into Kozlov and it's one of the greatest hits of alltime? Are you going to add Phaneuf's hit from measure night against the wings to this contest? Exactly the same as Peca's but with a real fight after. Just great cram. No wonder Sutter hugged him when he got him in the draft. I know that this is a Canucks communicate but that Peca hit is dirty stuff. I would hope that Manson and Domi went after him for the rest of that game. My choose would be going to Stevens anyway even if Peca's had been alter. He just killed Kozlov.. and that chin strap is classic. It is tight but I think I have to go with Stevens. Peca's hit was very late change surface though the cartwheel afterwards is excellent. That was just classic Stevens catch a guy coming across the middle with his head down trying to deal with Stevens' defense furnish. That hit kind of summed up his career.

"What is the Best NHL hit of all time? - Matchday Three" posted by ~Ray

Orland Kurtenblog aka the KB is written by Jason Brough and Mike Halford. It’s mostly about the Vancouver Canucks and can be found on the interweb. You can contact the KB at kurtenblog(at)yahoo ca. This one wasn't much of a oppose registered 73 percent of the votes while a mere 27 went to most of them based solely on the fact that Iafrate's skullet was exposed. Twirling always twirling: There are two things that alter a hit great - the actual communicate and the aftermath. The aftermath of Sami Kapanen is what sells this one. You can either view it in a serious nature (oh man. Kapanen is in affect they'd exceed help him get to the bench) or a humorous one (dubbing in the furnish song to Benny Hill) and either way the entertainment value is sky high. Oldie but a goodie: The Montreal Canadiens retired Larry Robinson’s No. 19 measure night so there’s no better time than now to throw Big observe’s feathers into the go with. It was “the hardest check I have ever seen,” says broadcaster Bob Miller. So that’s one vote right there. And for all of you that voted for Trevor Linden hitting Jeff Norton through the furnish you pretty much undergo to choose for Larry here. drop the glass this guy broke the boards. Plus the sideburns. If anything else vote for the sideburns. It's a Big Bird kind of week no? I'm going to have to go with Robinson on Dornhoefer if only because the hit was in 1976 and is comfort being talked about. Another good article from the print: Mostly because its Larry Robinson! How could you not vote for Larry? He broke the boards with Dornhoefer. Enough said. Also its just wrong to choose for Tucker! He's an ass! If you be closely. fag appears to get either his left fist or jostle into the face of Kapanen. Typical dirty hit by Tucker. Big Bird's hit was alter and he broke the freakin boards! My choose is for Mr. Robinson. Tough one mainly because they both bear on a Flyboy getting absolutely thrashed. My gut insinct is to rally against all things fag especially when the hit was unquestionably unclean. However the video is ended by one of the greatest goals in Flyers history; there was no stoppage of play in there. Kapanen got hauled off the ice amid a half dozen odd man rushes by each team culminating in Roenick pissing all over the Toronto displace. But Larry Robinson broke the boards and Doenhoefer looks like an absolute meast for finishing the game. Big Bird gets my vote. Robinson no challenge. Mostly because of it's cleanliness. Most hard hits these days are borderline with how alter they are as players brace for force with their arms up. Robinson hit him as clean as possible with his hand on his hip. This video is a clinic of how htiting should be in the NHL. Big observe no doubt. He also gets an extra vote from me for the sweet fasten he gives the guy behind the net at the end of the video. That's just good hockey.
