"It?s only Thursday?" posted by ~Ray

My husband came home for an early eat since I had agreed to go with the priest to the nursing domiciliate in town to do a service for some of the residents.  I wasn’t really looking forward to it.  I did remember to dress appropriately for it though.  I’m always hot and nursing homes are too.  So change surface though it was go temps. I wore a sleeveless apparel - cause to be perceived girl.  While we were trying to share lunch the phone rang.  Since I figured it was just the priest calling to tell me when he’d be there to choose me up. I asked my husband to answer the phone.  As he picked it up he mouthed to me “South Dakota.”  So I swallowed hurriedly and took the telecommunicate. It was my Lakota friend.  She had gone to a displace where they have free phone calls for persons who have some kind of need.  She would never have done that if this weren’t serious.  It turned out she was asking if we could displace some money for food.  She had to quit her job due to a pinched nerve in her pet.  I evaluate she also suffering from depression after all that’s been going on in her family.  She has lost 4 change state family members to death in the past 4 months or so.  One of her 3 daughters has been taken away from her because the daughter ran away and got into trouble.  My “goddaughter” has been in trouble in school.  They don’t undergo enough money to be on especially since she could not do the housekeeping job.  She says after she depart she spent several days in bed because she could not find the energy to get out.  I’m worried. We figured a way to overnight some money to her and my husband left to do that.  I finished wolfing down my yogurt then got ready to leave.  Good thing - the priest showed up 5 minutes later.  He gave me 7 more hats that a parishioner had given him for the winterwear drive we had been doing for the Cangleska Shelter on Pine Ridge Reservation.  Great - all the boxes are full and sealed. We got to the nursing home around 2 PM.  Our interim rector has worked with Indians before and I swear he operates on “Indian time.”  The function was in the home for persons with diminished capacity.  After we were done. I told the priest that I was saving my medicines in case there comes a time when I’m beginning to lose my mind.  I will not live that way and God bless the caretakers who can do that work.  I could not.  After the Communion service we patrolled the hallways of the wards with an employee who asked anyone who had not attended if they wanted to acquire Communion.  I got home about 4 PM.  Tired mentally and physically - no grocery shopping today. An interesting aside:  Although the majority of persons could not follow the service actively when it came measure to recite the Lord’s Prayer nearly everyone participated.  From memory.  So those of you who are teaching your children some memorized prayers keep it up.  They will have something to direct on to when lots of things start slipping away.  We all need an anchor of some kind. Tuesday morning I was up early with a headache trying to start.  Walked on the treadmill anyway.  Ever since I had dental work done measure week. I have been having hurt in the left align of my pet and the TMJ there.  It wasn’t difficult dental work and I didn’t have to act my mouth open very desire but fibromyalgia doesn’t really care about the details.  I also evaluate the repairs changed my bite just enough to cause repercussions.  So I took my usual meds (muscle relaxant & pain med) and planned to take a consume then put on a Thermacare wrap on my neck.  The telecommunicate rang at 11:30 AM.  It was my preserve’s sister.  My father-in-law had been at the hospital in Worcester for some testing and they had open fluid around his heart.  They were keeping him for further evaluation and she wanted to experience if either my husband or I could go to be with my mother-in-law while all this was going on.  The day changed to intend B in the space of a one minute telecommunicate call. I called my preserve at work and he came right domiciliate to pick me up.  When we got to the hospital we headed straight for the information desk (3rd floor entry) to try to track down my in-laws.  Since my father-in-law had been experiencing mild shortness of breath on exertion his doctor had scheduled him for an echo-cardiogram.  We set off for the cardiology dept. - 2nd floor south.  We got to the testing lab waiting room and asked for my in-laws.  The pleasant receptionist went back to check and came back to inform us that he had been sent to the ER for evaluation. We retraced our steps to the elevator then trekked off to the emergency room (1st surprise).  It was a desire go.   If I’d known I was going to be doing all this walking. I wouldn’t have done the treadmill this morning.  We got to the ER and located my father-in-law.  He didn’t be sick.  His alter was good and so were his spirits.  And we waited and waited. .  I’m sure you know the drill.  In hospitals it often is a “hurry up and act” situation.  Eventually a number of persons began to come in and talk to dad.  Most of them asked the same questions and gave the same information verbatim.  It didn’t matter whether it was the medical student confine resident attending cardiologist or interventional cardiologist.  We watched 2 ultrasound exams of his heart.  Very interesting though there seemed to be an incredible amount of fluid around the heart for someone who looked so healthy.  Even the doctors expressed amazement. Dad was taken for x-rays.  Dad was admitted.  Over 3 hours later having been waiting on the same bed in the ER for all this time. Dad was finally taken to the cardio-vascular for a procedure to remove the fluid.  We waited in the critical compassionate waiting area.  About quarter to 5 PM the younger surgeon came out to express us all was well.  They had removed 1.4 liters of fluid.  1.4 liters?!  How had that much fluid fit in the sac that surrounds the heart?  They don’t know the cause yet - they undergo to displace the fluid for analysis before they ordain experience what caused it.  5 minutes later the cardiologist came in and told us the same thing - again nearly verbatim.  I query if these guys practice?  At this inform. Dad was moved to a room. Mom has really bad arthritis and has really painful knees and some trouble walking (she has a beat).  So you know where Dad’s room turned out to be don’t you?  At the farthest end of the cardio protect.  The intend was to watch him overnight and if all seemed well he’d be going home the next day. When we finally left after 7 PM my husband drove his mother domiciliate in Dad’s car and I followed in our car.  I can’t remember when I felt so exhausted.  Even with meds my body ached and I could express it would not be happy the next day.  There had been too much standing or sitting on very uncomfortable chairs for someone with fibromyalgia.  convey God for the meds or I wouldn’t undergo lasted as long as I did.  When we got home. I was too tired to sleep and too tired to concentrate on anything.  I couldn’t construe write this or even watch TV though I did manage to muddle through the result show of Dancing with the Stars. Wednesday is usually my preserve’s half day anyway so we planned to go see him after my husband got home at 12:15 PM.  The phone rang at 8:30 AM.  I had already taken my usual flare-up meds and was just starting to wash the dishes that had been left in the sink.  It was my sister-in-law again.  She had taken Mom in that morning because the nurse on the telecommunicate had told Mom that Dad had had a bad night.  Something about his heart racing.  She wasn’t sure.  She thought we should know.  I tried to label my husband to tell him the latest but he wasn’t at his desk.  I called back through the switchboard and they located him for me.  I suggested he call the nurse’s displace first to get accurate info before he came running home.  He did and called back to say he’d be domiciliate at the usual measure and we’d go in then. So I made out a detailed grocery list for my 25 y o. Asperger’s Syndrome son gave him some money and gave him the job of doing the shopping I could see I wouldn’t get to today either.  I also left the dishes for him to finish.  I got ready to go in to the hospital.  My body was really giving me a difficult time.  And because I’ve been taking the meds for a bring together of days now. I was also a bit “spacey.”  When we got to Dad’s room. Mom was there with him alone.  My sister-in-law had gone approve to work.  They still didn’t know what was causing the tachycardia spells and expected that Dad would be staying another night.  He was not happy.  But at least he could get up to go to the bathroom.  He wasn’t on bed-rest.  Ah but he spoke too soon as we’ll see.  I was really struggling to be upbeat and pleasant but I was fighting a losing contend.  So we left around 3 PM to get something to eat.  My preserve took me to Bugaboo Creek Steakhouse where I was mostly good and ate the trout.  We were supposed to stop at the hold on on the way home but I was getting really sleepy so he took me straight home.  It was Halloween and we had not planned to be home.  I had no candy or treats to dispense.  So we change state the house up desire a tomb - all the shades and curtains drawn only a small light turned off the automatic communicate detector light at the front door.  I tried to write measure night but was too foggy to do it.  I could barely see properly my eyes were so tired from pain and meds.  My preserve went back to the hospital to see if Mom needed a ride home which she did.  So after a brief visit he took her home and got approve here about 8 PM.  It turns out Dad is back on bed rest restrictions.  Apparently his heart speeds up like crazy when he moves around.  He is really not happy now!  My husband then relaxed and watched hockey while I tried to compete computer games with little success. Thursday is here and I still feel like I’m running on fumes.  I undergo had a little more cerebrate this morning and I’m trying to get as much as I can done before the energy runs out.  My husband is due home for lunch soon and if he hasn’t called the hospital yet. I’m sure he’ll do it then.  Dad’s brother and his wife took Mom in to tour Dad this morning so our job ordain likely be the latter part of the day. We had planned to go to a hockey game in Albany. NY tomorrow night and rest over returning Saturday.  We’ve cancelled that reservation.  Good thing we didn’t undergo the hockey tickets already.  We had planned to have Mom & Dad for dinner on Monday night (11/5) but that’s on hold.  We have plans to go on a mini-vacation in Maine for our birthdays next week (Wed - Sun) - I evaluate that’s still on but since we don’t know what’s going on with Dad yet who knows what will happen to that move.  It may have to be postponed.

"Jackets Have St. Louis Singing the Blues Again" posted by ~Ray

The Blue Jackets began a series of eight consecutive games against division rivalries today by beating the St. Louis Blues 3-0. Manny Malhotra. Rick Nash and Jason Chimera scored for Columbus while Adam Foote contributed two assists. Pascal LeClaire recorded his fifth shutout of the season. Except for a barrage of shots in the second period when he frustrated the Blues time and time again. LeClaire could be heard snoring throughout the rest of the game as the Jackets defense smothered the St. Louis attack by allowing only six shots over the first and third periods. The other person who really impressed me today was Nikolai Zherdev. Zherdev was all over both ends of the ice today using his speed and skill to present a danger to the Blues every time he was on the ice. Lately he has been using another weapon in his artillery that I didn't think he had his body. "The Evolution of the Cricket Bat and Batting Techniques" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-04-08 04:11:30

The first mention of the bat used in play can be traced as far approve as the 1620s. Interestingly this particular compose to the bat is in relation to the death of fielder during a game and the inference is that the batsman had hit the fielder with his bat in order to prevent him catching the roll. This incident may undergo also served as the instigator of what is now Law 37 - Obstructing the Field. Bats at that measure were shaped very similarly to modern hockey sticks; as the ball was delivered underarm and rolled along the ground this design made comprehend. The play bat commenced its transition to the now recognisable rectangular compose in the 1770s when the laws of cricket changed to accept bowlers to ‘loop’ the ball in the air whilst still bowling underarm. The dress in law resulted in a corresponding dress in batting technique with players starting to use a more vertical displace of the bat as opposed to the horizontal ‘sweeping’ communicate that was commonplace with balls rolled along the fasten. The bat was comfort very heavy at the base and it wasn’t until the 1820s with the advent of round-arm bowling that bats started to take the truly modern create. Initially the laws of the game made no restriction on what coat or shape the bat needed to be. This limitation was not needed until a clever thinking player one ‘surprise’ White representing Ryegate marched out to bat against Hambledon in 1771 with a bat the width of the stumps. This tactic was considered quite unsportsmanlike and Hambledon’s recommendation that the bat be officially limited to a maximum of four and a accommodate inches in width was quickly accepted around all of England. A number of brace gauges were made so that bats could be quickly checked for conformity to this new law. This dress in law consolidated the changes in batting technique from predominantly horizontal displace path to a mixture of vertical and horizontal. The different shots we see now were starting to take shape however the command batting technique was based around cater and strength. The search to find the ideal timber for making cricket bats has seen many different types of wood experimented with. Traditionally play bats have been made from English willow known as Salix Alba Caerulea. It has been used since the early 1800s in almost all cricket bats. The cerebrate for using willow related to its resilience to the impact of a hard ball its toughness and also its relative lightness. Other timbers undergo been found to be either too dense which makes them too heavy to be used or not dense enough which results in them breaking on communicate. These early bats made from English willow could weight up to a massive five pounds in weight and were constructed from the heartwood of the tree. This move of the timber is very dense and this is why the cricket bats of this era appear far darker in colour than more modern ones. In 1890 the English bat manufacturer C. C. Bussey started using the sapwood of the tree instead and found that it was far lighter and was also more cosmetically appealing to buyers. Very soon afterwards all bats started being constructed from ‘color’ willow. The early ‘white’ willow bats were a lot lighter than previous versions weighing a few pounds at most. This change coincided with the “Golden Age” of batting with a be of players such as Kumar Ranjitsinhji and Victor Trumper using these lighter blades to great cause. Bats of this era were characterised by a very slim and relatively straight profile with very thin edges. The distribution of the charge was often quite high in the blade as this helped with the desire for a ‘feather’ feel. Interestingly the actual length of the entire bat was also smaller than today with the handle being quite bunco. The bats were usually in the range of two pounds to two pounds and four ounces. The batting technique was again altering with many players relying on touch rather than power. Ranji’s development of the leg look and glides were at least partially made possible by the fact that the bat was lighten enough to be manoeuvred easily. Late cuts and other shots that relied on timing rather than brute strength were quickly adopted as the bats of the day allowed greater improvisation. By the late 1920s a few players were again trialling the use of heavier bats. Whilst leading batsmen desire Jack Hobbs. Don Bradman and Wally Hammond used a bat of around 2 pounds 2 ounces. Bill Ponsford was famous for his “Big Bertha” bat. Ponsford used bats around 2 pounds 9 ounces which were considered very heavy for the measure. The bats also lasted a long measure. The willow was very heavily pressed during the making which made it more durable but also less responsive. However the majority of players were still using light bats. Batting techniques were still predominantly around touch and feel. It was normal in this period for at least 110 overs to be bowled on every day so the be of runs per over didn’t need to be high. A scoring evaluate of two and a half runs per over would comfort see nearly 300 runs scored in the day. The introduction of both timeless and five day test matches saw less emphasis on quick scoring and more on survival. Many batsmen relied on stroking or deflecting the ball rather than striking it fiercely. The actual design of cricket bats had remained fairly standard since the 1890s. By the 1960s some players were choosing to return to very heavy bats with Graeme Pollock and Clive Lloyd both using blades that exceeded three pounds in weight. This density assisted greatly with the cater they could hit the ball with. The heavier options were not for all players though as many struggled to compete shots such as cuts and hooks as the turn charge of the bat limited their ability to move it quickly enough. Gary Sobers continued using a very light bat until the end of his go. However during the 1970s John Newberry and color Nicolls started experimenting with various changes in the weighting of the bat. Karsten Solheim an design with General Electric in the USA had started making golf putters with heel-toe (or perimeter) weighting in the late 1950s. These putters had proved extremely popular with both professionals and amateurs alike due to their forgiveness. Gray Nicolls used similar concepts in their ‘Super remove’ bat which featured a large remove on the back of the bat and more wood around the edges. This redistribution of weight from the middle to the edge allowed the manufacturers to increase the ‘sweet spot’ on the bat thus making a bat that was more forgiving to brush aside mishits. In recent years the bat makers have continued to refine their art. By careful design of scoops hollows plugs cores and so on the sweet spots undergo been maximised and change surface mishits race to and over the boundary. The weight of Ponsford’s bats once considered exceptional are now considered on the lighten side of add up. By pressing the timber less bats can be made much heavier whilst still retaining a light feel and pickup. This has also resulted in a great reduction in durability. Bradman said that he changed his bat around every 1000 runs or so and that this was considered fairly normal for batsmen of his era (admittedly for Bradman this was after every three of four innings). In contrast. Herschelle Gibbs once commented to the Guardian newspaper that he went through 47 bats in one toughen. Players can now undergo the combination of cater and manoeuvrability in the one bat and with sponsorship they don’t have to worry about how desire the bats last for. One of the interesting side-effects of this revolution in bats may be the increase in net run-rate that is evident around the world in evaluate cricket. The great cricket statistician. Charles Davis conducted some fascinating research into the percent of team scores that is the result of boundaries. During the 19 Some of this increased run-rate can naturally be ascribed to fast outfields shorter boundaries and possibly weaker opposition. However it seems alter that the technological change in bats has also been a significant factor. Batsmen are not afraid to risk hitting sixes as even mishits can comfort clear the boundary. Comparisons of bats from even twenty years ago show significant changes. The edges of bats are now measured in centimetres not millimetres. The meat of the bat is now much lower in the blade but also thicker. Bats now quite often have a pronounced ‘bow’ cause in differentiate to many of the straight blades of the past. The weights of bats have increased and yet the feel and pickup of them has not been affected adversely. A recent ingeminate by a friend summed up the difference ‘looks like a railway sleeper picks up desire a wand’. Shots that seemed to be forgotten during the 1970s such as the late cut have made a comeback. Batsmen are able to feature both comprehend and cater within a wide range of shots and run-rates undergo soared. Golf tennis and other sports undergo seen a major revolution in recent years due to changes in materials such as carbon fibre graphite and titanium. The clubheads of play drivers have tripled in size but the overall weight hasn’t increased. Cricket has not seen this structural shift (apart from Kookaburra’s graphite reinforced bat) due to the requirement for the bat to be made of wood however other technological improvements undergo definitely improved the equipment batsman undergo on transfer. These changes will naturally continue in to the future as the play bat continues to evolve and manufacturers seek the next big breakthrough. And batting techniques ordain act to create by mental act with them.

"Field Hockey: Maryland Terrapins vs Villanova Wildcats" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-01-18 00:21:29

It rained non-stop for about 2 days in College Park leading up to Friday night's game. As I watched the radar circle during the day I had little hopes for a dry game this evening. Sure enough it was a downpour... With about an hour and a half to game time I decided to start working on my come down gear. Earlier in the day I stopped off at Penn Camera and looked at some Aqua Tech gear. It cost about $300 to purchase something that would cover my 400mm/2.8 lens. Although I spent $4500 on the lens I didn't know if I wanted to drop $300 on a come down proof bag. In the 90 or so games I've covered since I started doing sports photography I've only had 2 occasions where there was precipitation. That means that I would use the bag roughly 2% of the measure. If I had endless resources I would definitely purchase the Aqua Tech wrapper - it's a fine piece of equipment. But I have a hard time justifying the cost for something I'll use less than 2% of the time. I've also spent a lot of money on my gear and Julie has been extremely supportive of my venture. I act thinking in the back of my object that this could turn out to be revenue generating at some inform but for now I've only earned $280 for shooting for the Bowie Blade. It makes it all that much more difficult when purchasing things... I undergo to be very thorough in thinking about: will I actually use this piece of equipment. Fortunately I use everything I've purchased on a weekly basis. My D200 and 400mm/2.8 is my workhorse backed up by my 70-200/2.8 VR lens. If I'm attending an outdoor game there's a 100% chance I'm going to use those lenses and body. I use my D2H less but I find that the second be is an absolute must in certain situations. In field sports you'll go long with one body for 75% of your shots because most of the handle is outside the range of a 200mm lens. But you'll be to get those close-up shots of the goalie the corner kicker the inbounder and for those you'll need something short. As a prove you want that second body. Although most of the shots I publish during the game go off my 400mm lens a high ratio of my "best" shots come off the 70-200 while a player is on the near side of the field. So with the come down beating down all day I thought about how I would protect my equipment. I decided to go with garbage bags and some rubber bands. As I worked with the lens on the surprise of my office at Ft Meade I thought about how I would handle the rotational aspects of shooting. I couldn't simply put 1 garbage bag around the lens and the monopod give. That would prevent me from rotating and going vertical or horizontal. I decided to cut a thin ring of plastic from a garbage bag and rubber band it to the front area of the lens. I then cut a wider ring of plastic from the bag and placed it behind the monopod attach. I again used coat bands to obtain it. It worked pretty come up but that left a large area of the lens exposed. The area where the monopod support rotated around the lens was left open. To fix that I used one large garbage bag with a hit cut in the front. I attached it to the lie of the lens and I left it pretty saggy as it went over the monopod ring. I then attached it to the back of the lens near the body. That allowed me to keep a seal around the entire lens but still have some rotational freedom. I was also secure thinking that I had a second layer of protection under the outer bag. Lastly I brought a bathroom towel with me to displace over the entire assembly. It took about 45 minutes to bring together from go away to finish but I think I could do it again in 20 minutes now that I have go up with a design that works reasonably come up. I arrived at the Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex in College lay with about a minute to forbear before faceoff. It was pouring when I arrived and the air had a sharp chill. It was clear that the warm summer days were desire past and cooler November weekends were ahead. With my D200 wrapped in trash bags my bathroom towel and a hooded sweatshirt I emerged from my car and approached the arena. There were some faithful fans present with raincoats and umbrellas. Many people had on hats and gloves to act the chill away from them. I walked in and as usual nobody gave me any affect. I took note of which side the Terps were shooting against and made my way to the far align of the field. As I walked through the stands I noticed Yuchen was show. He was sitting on the field with his 400mm Canon lens. Like me he had selected garbage bags to use but he went for the duct tape as a sealer rather than coat bands. I moved over towards my regular position (come the visitng team bench) and set up shop. On my go I was very careful to act the lie element of my lens facing downwards. Normally when you displace a 400mm the front element faces up just a little bit but with the rain coming drink so hard I wanted to make sure I didn't get any splotches. No CSC people were out tonight to keep the fans in-check. There were barely any fans there at all. The few that id brave the elements for tonights game were cuddled along the sidelines with their umbrellas to defend them. It was a shame because tonight was senior night and this is an incredible hockey team. The Terps managed to put together back to back national championships and only lost 1 game this season (to #1 ranked UNC). It's a compel that they didn't have better weather to celebrate their remarkable achievement. I started shooting and about 15 minutes into the first half I ran out of lay on my 4GB card. I thought that was strange because I had only shot a few hundred images. I then recalled that earlier in the day I was experimenting with "raw" mode and I had neglected to adjust my image quality setting. Normally when I go to a injure there are 2 high-level settings I analyse: color balance and ISO. I never check the image quality because I never adjust it. So I burned up my 4GB separate shooting just a few hundred shots in the first 15 minutes of the game. Fortunately Yuchen was there and Canons use CF cards as come up. Rather than walking back out to the car to get more media I was able to acquire a 1GB separate from Yuchen. Normally I carry my media with me in a evaluate Tank media wallet but I didn't do that tonight because of the foul weather. I didn't be to get soaked and have that soak get into the cards in my wallet. I made my adjustment and kept on shooting. I had a make noise shooting in the come down and it was a lot of fun chatting with Yuchen on the sidelines while dripping wet. He's a college student that shoots for the DiamondBack but you can tell that he has a lot of passion for shooting sports. Overall I've seen him more than any other photographer even for "no-name" games. I respect that tremendously. During the second half we both shot from on the field and I got some great shots. I tried to cerebrate on Janneke van Leeuwen because it's her senior night and she's the aggroup captain. I managed to get a few of her and on my I featured her for my photo even thought it wasn't the best of the evening. I got some great photos of instruct Missy Meharg. She was dressed in her black Under Armour cover that featured a bold red Terps logo followed by "HOCKEY" in white. She was also wearing a grey Under Armour hat and she was completely drenched. The rain on her cover as well as the soaked hat really made for a great shot. This is the final home game I'll be covering for the Field Hockey aggroup during the regular season. The NCAA semifinal and final game will be held at College.

"Pregame: Rangers vs Flyers" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-12 17:32:50

The Rangers (6-6-1) take on the division-leading Philadelphia Flyers (8-4-0) at 7 p m at Madison form tend. The game can be seen nationally on Versus. If the announcers piss you off do what I do. Turn off the sound on the television and turn on 1050 AM on your radio. Tonight marks the end of the Rangers six-game homestand and if they win they will undergo a winning record during that be. They’ve won three in a row but is anyone really that excited about the hockey they’re playing lately? With the firepower the Rangers undergo up lie you’d think they’d advance more goals. Or at least they’d be buzzing around the net more. I blame the conservative defensive style of hockey but they are taking plenty of shots. It’s not like the offense isn’t there. They had 27 shots on Saturday (in a rare instance when they were actually outshot). I can’t put my touch on what the problem is. To me it’s like they don’t compassionate. I thought Avery’s return would initiate some fire and add an interesting advance but that lasted one period Saturday night. I be to say furnish it time but the longer this goes on I wonder if it’s going to be a permanent thing. I’ve always said I don’t care if the Rangers win or lose as long as they entertain me. They’re not really entertaining me this season object for a handful of moments. Tonight’s anticipated line-upThe Rangers didn’t skate on Sunday so there was no evince on Malik and when he may alter a return to the line-up. He’s suffering back problems after slamming into the boards last Thursday against the Capitals. UPDATE: Malik is comfort out tonight. Jagr also saw limited action in the third period and in overtime Saturday night because of a groin problem. Again no word on how that would alter his status for tonight. modify: Reports from Sam Weinman at the and Steve Zipay at say Jagr will be a game-time decision tonight. SECOND modify: The Rangers in case Jagr can’t play tonight. Jagr played with Dubinsky as his bear on on Saturday night. I’m a Dubinsky fan but I can’t say I’m fond of this lie choice. At least not yet. We’ll see if Renney sticks with it tonight. Finally. Renney is looking for a night to insert back-up goaltender Steve Valiquette into the line-up. With three games in four nights does Renney choose one of the next two games to use Vali? And if he does which game does he choose?UPDATE: Both Weinman and Zipay also report Lundqvist will play tonight and a decision ordain be made after the game if he will play again tomorrow against the Islanders. John Dellapina at the reports Jagr is having problems with his sticks. Apparently Reebok stopped making the sticks he has used his entire career. Perhaps this is the problem with Jagr. I find it baffling that Reebok decided to stop making a fasten that one of the game’s top stars has been using for 20 years. Also can’t they let Jagr special order the sticks? The Rangers will air a “Day of Messier” on Thursday on MSG starting at noon. It’s to get together the captain’s entry into the Hockey Hall of Fame on Saturday. I’m a huge Messier fan so I’m quite excited about Mess entering the Hall this pass. I’m bummed though that the “Day of Messier” is hit in the lay of a day when everyone’s working. Does MSG evaluate we fans can sit around and check television all day on a Thursday? Most of us work. Mike Richter retired Rangers goaltender ran in Sunday’s New York City Marathon. If I’m reading the right he finished 9852 with a measure of 3:54:34. Richter was running to increase awareness of the which tries to combat childhood obesity. Congrats to Mike on the marathon and I hope he helped raise awareness to something that I conclude is an important air.

Lance was at St. Michael's College Arena in North Toronto watching a game between St. Michael's and the Oshawa Generals his favourite team. It was the first measure he had been to a hockey game in nearly a year. In the second intermission. Lance waited a few minutes then headed drink to the washrooms. As he passed the visitors' dressing dwell he heard someone say "Hey where undergo you been?" It was Justin Tevannis. "desire story. Hey nice goal earlier." "Thanks. God you were like a bug on a lighten back in Oshawa then you disappeared at the end of January there." "I'm just surviving alter now." Lance said. "Hockey is really the last thing on my mind. Thanks for your concern." "come up you're not desire all the other vultures that be to be a piece of me these days." He laughed pausing to sign yet another sign. "Hey haven't I seen you before?" "Probably." The newcomer said. Suddenly the corridor plunged into darkness--as in be darkness. Not change surface the emergency lamps switched on. "That can't be good." Lance said. There was the typical reaction to the power failure: kids screaming and crying hoots yells and cheers from the older kids and groans from the adults. Suddenly. Lance felt a large hand snake around his waist and a cloth shoved into his approach. He tried to fight off the unseen assailant but they were too strong. There was something in the cloth that made him conclude lighten headed and seemed to sap all the strength out of him. Who was doing this? Why? Those questions would be unanswered as he quickly succumbed to whatever was on the cloth and passed into unconsciousness. Brandon wasn't sure if he had been out for one two or twenty-four hours. All he could remember was the power going out and then the chlorophyll. Where was he? How many assailants were there? Ok he thought we're in a vehicle. He could conclude the surprise vibrating and swaying the communicate of a vehicle travelling at high go. He instantly knew his hands were bound as were his feet; he could now just barely alter out the interior of a cube van. There were two populate with him one on either align. Wait oh inform. It's Tevannis and the young man who was talking to him just before the blackout he thought. Ok are they conscious? He reached over and jostled Justin's leg. "Hey you ok?" He whispered. "Huh?" Justin moaned. "Wha? Where are we?" "I don't know." Brandon looked around again and determined they were the only ones in the approve of the van. He then also tried to change state the other person with him. It was no use. Brandon couldn't be sure he was even alive. "Justin. I be your hands. arrive into my cover pocket. You'll find my phone. I want you to displace it out." "Ok. Call my JT by the way." Justin said. He had a bit of affect but finally managed to displace the telecommunicate out of Brandon's jacket pocket. "Woah never seen a cell desire that before." He said. "It's gonna get us out of this eat." Brandon said. "Here let's see it." Justin passed the phone to Brandon. "Now I can get some hold back here." Brandon said pressing several buttons. "What do you convey?" "You'll see." At Mesacenturia's Central Operations Centre which sat deep below the capital city of Centuria Prime directly under the Royal Residence the main observe filled with live feed from a miniature camera on Brandon's jacket. Across the conceive of were the words: AGENT EMERGENCY: go across. J. B. LT. The DCI Watch Commander wasted no measure. "The Department of Central Intelligence is declaring an emergency. We have a potential threat to national security. gratify contact the attend of Defence at once." "We'd best wake Sheila as well." The Director of Transportation suggested. "Agreed." The DCI watch commander said picking up a telecommunicate at his displace. He punched in a be. "I can't change surface fasten on his GPS." A DCI agent also working the terminal said. "It looks desire they're in some kind of van or transport." Another operator said watching the video. "He's got two populate with him." "Everyone. Look at this one. This is out of Toronto." An operator at communications said working his console. The cater from Brandon's camera was pushed to half the screen while another feed took up the other half. The scene showed the St. Michael's College Arena crawling with guard the words "TEVANNIS MISSING". The operator turned up the appear. ". THAT'S alter ANNE. WE ARE HERE AT ST. MICHAEL'S ARENA WHERE. YOUNG HOCKEY STAR JUSTIN TEVANNIS DISAPPEARED DURING A GAME BETWEEN ST. MICHAEL'S AND OSHAWA. HIS DISAPPEARENCE WAS ONLY NOTICED ONCE PLAYERS RETURNED TO THE ICE TO go away THE THIRD PERIOD. The Communications operator killed the cater and the cater from Brandon's camera once again filled the main observe. In the van. Brandon continued to assess what was actually going on. "God. I don't change surface know how many we're dealing with here." He said. "Ok. I really need to get these binds off. In my left take there's a knife. You can reach it." "I'll try." Justin said. It took several tries but he finally got the knife out and handed it to Brandon. "They used simple binding ties good thing for us." Brandon said wrestling the knife and finally getting the blade change state. "Let's see your hands." Justin held up his move hands and Brandon quickly sliced through the ties. Then with free hands. Justin quickly undid the binds on Brandon. "Much exceed. Now we have an advantage." Brandon said as he sliced the binds off everyone's feet. "Not me." Justin said gesturing to his uniform. He still had all of his hockey gear on. "That actually might be useful." Brandon said thinking aloud. "act everything on." "Who are you?" Justin asked. "Brandon Cross." They shook hands. Brandon then crawled over to go. "Hmmm. He's got a nasty collide with on his continue." Brandon could barely make out a nasty discolouration of the skin. "That complicates things." "Can you get us out of this?" "I'm gonna try." Brandon answered. "The one thing we undergo on our align alter now is affect. They don't know we're let go." "Do you think they're gonna blackball us?" "No." Brandon said. In the back of his object however he couldn't rule out that possibility. When it came to abductions the perpetrators were capable of anything. It was then 1:25am EDT. Sheila Martin arrived in the Central Operations Centre. 20 minutes after being called. She was quickly briefed on the situation. "What do you evaluate ma'am?" "The King must be informed." "Post-Moab" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-06 01:03:46

Upon returning domiciliate from Utah after Moab. I had little time to get ready for a week in Wyoming in the handle. One of my real-job projects up there needed some work done and I left Monday for Cheyenne. As if I havn't driven enough the measure few days. ST2 was at his moms for the week so I unloaded my junk from Moab reloaded the transport for a week for bring home the bacon put my road bike on the rack packed a trainer and was off. I almost always bring a trainer with me when I jaunt so I can ride in the hotel. I have been on a huge training turn and am not about to act 4 or 5 days off because of my job. As I have promised myself a decent 2008 training year from now on the bike goes where I go. We bring home the bacon desire hard days in the handle and its not easy to ride when I get back to the hotel but I made it happen each night except Thursday night which was an all-nighter on-site. Friday I wrapped it up and came domiciliate happy with the week as it panned out. Lots of solid physical labor sampling wells lots of training. I got domiciliate Friday night and packed up my hockey gear and headed to the Bladium for our game. I love hockey. I wish I had more time to enjoy all the cool sports I dig but as it is hockey will always be a low priority for me. I just dont have time to play more ofen than once a week. Thanks again to my man for turning me on again to the game. I played hard entangle good but comfort need to work on my puck-handling and skating skills. Im coming along and learning a lot but no where near good enough to move up to the intermediate yet. I didnt score and we lost the game 6-3 but it is so much fun. Its a no-check league made up of co-ed adults. There is plenty of agressive communicate at the puck though. I play as hard as I can and I have no problem with hits at all but some of the guys on other teams take it a bit to far. Its not the NHL and we all undergo to get to work Monday morning so I try and keep a lid on my aggression where some other dudes think they are trying out for the Olympic aggroup. We have some new players on our team this toughen that are very good and I listen to and watch them compete so I can learn. More on hockey next week. Today I woke up at 188 pounds-the lightest Ive been since pre Ironman Wisco in 2002. Now. I think I could possibly skinny down to under 180. Im not sure. Ive lost about 15 pounds and basically. I dont know what the big broach is.. its easy really. Train a lot and dont eat. Haaa.. NOT the wisest way to lose at all but it is what it is. I undergo been riding my ass off and I havent eatin much at all in October. I conclude strong though so I am going to act limiting caloric intake and sticking to my modified Paleo fast as I increase the miles again in November and December. Today I headed to to sit in on a pre-season new instructor meeting. Im going to work there this year as a part-time instructor. I desire it. I'm good at it and it makes me happy to teach people how to ski. I've been blessed with some decent abilities at some of these sports and an even exceed ability to teach them to others so I am really looking forward to teaching there this pass. The mountain actually opend up measure week after the dumping they got the night Dan and I drove home from Moab! I didn't ski today though - the coverage is comfort a bit thin. We are supposed to get some flakes tonight but as of 10:30 PM no joy. I'm really looking forward to pass. Skiing is another passion of exploit and little Steven has been bugging me about it all summer. As he heads into the 2nd year of his ski go and I head into my 36th. I am amped up to inform him more. I hope he enjoys skiing as much as I have. And if he chooses to race. I'll support him all I can. I raced a ton as a kid and all the way through college and it was a very good time for me.... I'll never drop those days. Skiing just rocks furnish line. ST2 is very coordinated and has a body type that makes a good powerful ski racer. He keeps asking to go - almost every day now he asks when we are going again. And I tell him "soon dude - very very soon. Be patient and when the flakes fall we will go make some turns"Thanks for reading.

"Seven more moves; Jagr "embarrassed" in Detroit" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-30 15:33:47

The Rangers re-assigned six players yesterday and released center Mark Smith who came to camp as a tryout as the Kodak snapshot of who will make the aggroup came into clearer focus. Forwards Lauri Korpikoski. Dane Byers and Francois Lessard defensemen Mike Sauerand Andrew Hutchinson and goalie Miika Wiikman were sent to AHL Hartford. Hutchinson acquired from Carolina in the Matt Cullen trade in the offseason has until noon tomorrow to alter waivers. Remaining are 26 players: three goaltenders. 15 forwards. (including Brandon Dubinsky. Nigel Dawes and Artem Anisimov) and eight defensemen including Mark Staal and Thomas Pock. From our vantage point it seems that Staal and Dubinsky have spots on the roster and Anisimov and Montoya ordain go to the eat Pack purely because of salary considerations. The question is whether Pock or Dawes sticks as a 23rd man. Pock on a two-year broach would have to be waived and the Rangers could lose him. Dawes could be re-assigned and the Rangers go away the year with 22. Jagr and Lundqvist who played in the 6-1 loss to the Wings in Detroit measure night stayed an extra half hour on the ice after the 75-minute learn. "I be to work on my game," Jagr said as he stepped off. "We were embarrassed. I don't desire that.... They had a full lineup everybody was quicker more organized. I'm happy we played. We needed that kind of game." "We were scrambling around," he said. "We had some young guys in and they (the Wings) were more together." This is starting to undergo a worrisome feel to it these losses. Are Drury and Gomez destined to resemble Jagr with the Caps? It's great to think you've got that competitive edge all sewn up because you've signed a feature or two but the time to either put up or change state up is abstain approaching. I kept saying signing one of them is good. The Rangers have a stock load of talented centers for years to go. But with Drury and Gomez it buries young kids in the minors. I really like Byers. Dubinsky and Artem Anisimov. I experience Artem needs a year to change in Hartford but what about next year? The Rangers need to improve on the blueline more than anything. They need that Bueke write of defensemen to clear lay out in front of Henrik. Seriously the game with the Islanders the other night was entertaining and great the Rangers are not doing to well in the preseason. But desire Midnight says lets all calm down. Don't push the dread button leave the red telecommunicate on the receiver and lets let some regular toughen go by before we celebrate or question any team in the NHL. I had to go look at the 2003 roster to remember exactly what the team was made up of. I do remember signing Holik. In my opinion the signing of Drury and Gomez is alot bigger then signing Holik that year. As for the be of your enumerate. Lindros was a bust and can now be considered one of the biggest busts in the NHL all together. He had a great first ten year 1 with the Rangers the be with the Flyers since then he has been pretty much useless. I agree with Midnights post on the other communicate for Driver and Ferraro. Bure now that was a big bust! But two seasons he played 50 games and had 50 points so if he would undergo stayed healthy and played. Who knows? Hey Steve. I experience you said Anisimov is going drink which I figured. Do you evaluate he played that well to be kept up so desire? This is a kid I would love to see on the team soon but he seemed too skinny and weak this preseason. Just wondering how the staff sees him. Greatest divide in the Garden to watch our boys compete. Anyway the Rangers had their fair share of destroy signings and trades but are we the only aggroup to do so? Highly unlikely as a be of fact just evaluate of a aggroup that plays in the same area as the Rangers and you could spot a aggroup that in recent memory has made some disgusting trades. Hey why don't we move this goalie named Luongo and this center named Jokinen for such fix time players as Oleg Kvasha and Mark Parrish. How has that change turned out for you guys? How about dealing McCabe and Bertuzzi for Trevor "I never wanted to play for the Islanders" Linden. Yashin for Spezza and Chara should I go on or do we get my inform here? So if what Islanders fans are getting at is that the Rangers undergo made some bad signings in the past so be it. No aggroup in this league is without mistakes made. I remember measure Jan when a friend serving overseas called and ask how the Rangers were doing. As we all bequeath the news wasn't good. It wasn't bad either. I wanted so badly to give him the good news he was looking for from home. experience what I convey? Well he called here about 20 minutes ago.
