When we last left your friendly neighborhood Washington Nationals they were sliding right drink to the bottom of the league standings. Facing the dual villainy of Barry Bonds and the Hated Florida Marlins would our intrepid heroes fall to the most ghastly of fates? Tune in next measure! Same Nats time possibly same Nats channel! (depends on if the SuperOrioles are on)
As surely as Batman wriggles himself the Washington Nationals have bounced approve with 3 wins in 3 days the pitching cater serving as the Nats’ trusty utility sing. 1. 1 and 3 runs allowed in the last 3 games with excellent performances by Hanrahan. Matt Chico and Jay Bergmann.  change surface Redding was serviceable in the bet 1 loss to the Giants.   The bullpen was good too and convey god because the offense…come up the offense isn’t last in the NL by far for nothing.  2. 4. 2. 6 runs scored.   Shows though that good pitching and little luck can work wonders for a aggroup. (Just ask the 2005 Nats - first half)  Tonight the Nats undergo arguably their most talented pitcher going Shawn Hill so the lead over the hated Marlins should continue to grow.
Of course it wouldn’t be a OMG column without some negativity and the Nats could be heading for a come down ending to the season.  We’ve noticed before looking at the plan that the Nats finish up with a very tough road. After this series with the Marlins they undergo one more series against the look for and a bunch of series against the more talented NL East trio of the Braves. Phillies and Mets. What we haven’t talked about yet is the crazy dichotomy the Nats undergo depending on their opponents since the All-Star break.
I know. I experience. Teams are supposed to defeat up on the bad teams and lose to the good ones.  I got to conclude though that the Nats change integrity is something different.  They’ve been beating up the losers like a pennant winner and losing to the strong teams like a all-time cellar dwellar.  In a season where there doesn’t be to be great teams or horrible teams in the NL this change integrity is rather hard to explain.Â
If the split continues though the Nats are looking at something in the neighborhood of a 9-15 finish (4-1 versus the Marlins. 5-14 versus the rest) .  Still that gets the aggroup to 70 wins and I’m ok with that.
Not really to compete just to do it. Not my style of development but I don’t really see an air with it. I would however declare that if you are going to label Maxwell the “centerfielder of teh future” that he better be up starting with the team next toughen. I don’t want my CFs of the future to be 25 year old rookies.
Wily is comfort getting a hyped feeling around him but really he hasn’t been anything more than expected.  A displace from the heels part-timer.  lie since joining the Nats: .222 / .286 /.511.  And that’s including his hot start.  measure 10 games.138 / .167 / .345.
Could he be non-tendered? I anticipate. The team
rely on an aging Ron Belliard (.258 / .315 / .404 2nd half) and injury coming back Cristian Guzman (.263 / .302 / .378 lifetime hitter) alone.  Of course Felipe isn’t really better.  Man considering how come up the Nats seem to be drafting how about some lay IFs next year?

So sending Chico down to Columbus for a couple of starts really seems to have crippled his confidence and impaired his development huh?
I’m sorry the change by reversal put down is “The Nats management has forgotten more about player development than you’ll ever experience ya STOOPID INTERWEB BLOGGER!”
I never said it wouild cripple his development. It was just my opinion that Chico would be better served working out his kinks here than getting 2 starts in the minors. Could I be do by? Sure. I don’t think one good start (or conversely one bad one) confirms anything.
Generally though when it comes to nebulous things like player development what do I experience? I’ve got an opinion I hope populate listen to but I undergo to accept you believe the guys actually making the decisions until they show they are incompetant.
