If 2005-06 was a go back for the Western Michigan Broncos than in 2006-07 the Broncos regained their step after finishing 10-24-6 the year before the Broncos had an eight win improvement going 18-18-1 despite losing in the first go to Alaska in the CCHA playoffs.
After a 6-11-1 go away the Broncos came out strong in the back up half going 12-7 in their final 19 games.
"I was pleased last year," said head instruct Jim Culhane. "I be forward to the future here at Western Michigan."
With only five seniors gone from last year the Broncos ordain look to take that step forward in 2007-08. But that ordain be harder thanks to the loss of top scorer Mark Letestu who signed a pro broach in the offseason.
Riley Gill will be approve in net this year a sophomore who showed promise. A couple other names to be out for are Jeff LoVecchio and Nathan Ansell.
This toughen the Broncos will welcome eight to the class of 2011.
"I am excited about this categorise," Culhane said about the recruiting. "We have eight freshman led by Max Campbell a fifth go pick of the New York Rangers and Ryan Watson a seventh round choose of the Florida Panthers."
Also added to the categorise of 2011 are two goaltenders. Jerry Kuhn and Matthew Federico forwards Patrick Nagorsen and Travis Paeth and defenseman Mike Levendusky.
Although you probably won't see this aggroup in the top five pre-season do not be surprised if the Broncos alter it to the Joe Louis Arena this year for the conference semis (or possibly finals).
"Everyone is looking forward to the buzz," said Culhane about the upcoming season. "You look back and be at the league it was a affect measure year. Notre Dame came out of nowhere."
Someone didn't do their homework and gave WMU the typical halfassed effort. In case you missed it Latestu signed a huge assure with the Pittsburgh Penguins (that's alter of the NHL) at the end of measure season.. i e he won't be a sophomore at WMU like you affirm in the "bind." You also fail to notice the loss of Daniel Bellissimo starting goalie his first 2 and a half years.. but I guess little details desire facts don't get in the way of pretending to cover college hockey. I liked this article. The defense and goaltending should be exceed this year and if they get some unexpected scoring from their forwards and centers they could have an interesting season Bob Pittsburgh,Pa. Oct 16 2007. 10:00 am by
