(Photo courtesy Adrian College Athletics) Adrian College has been selected as the Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association's No. 1 team according to the league's 2008-09 preseason coaches poll. The Bulldogs received 49 points garnering all possible first-place votes from the league's eight continue coaches (coaches could not vote for their own aggroup). First in last Friday's game against St. Lawrence senior captain Mark Mitera injured his knee and could be out for the rest of the season. He was Anaheim's top pick in 2007. Then early Sunday morning junior Steve Kampfer was reportedly assaulted by a member of the Wolverines' football team. According to the Kampfer a fourth-round selection by the Ducks in 2007 will be out for an extended period of time after being thrown head-first into the sidewalk during an altercation. "I can't tell you that (Kampfer) did anything bad," Michigan coach Red Berenson told the paper. "He just was a victim." That football player is a freakin goon. Heard he was trying to nail Kampfer's woman and thats when the trouble happened. That jackass should be thrown off his lousy football team. Forwards Ryan Watson and Adam Flink and goaltender Jerry Kuhn played an integral part in the success of Team cook despite not having played their first official game yet.
