When he said. "On the whole. I'd rather be in Philadelphia". Its a down and dirty hockey lovin' city where neighborhood kids playing street hockey add up skateboarders practicing their kickflips. Philly fans experience their hockey even if they do check it through orange-colored glasses! It was too early for Philadelphia fans to boo Santa Claus again but I got my overlap of boos as I wandered the Wachovia Center on Saturday night. My brother Pete came down from Connecticut to connect me at the bet and change surface though I'm far from a Flyers fan the aggroup provided us with the royal treatment. The Flyers publicist. Shauna gave us a tour of the entire rink from the skybox to the locker dwell and a camera man from the NHL followed us around the entire measure which was a new experience. As I checked out the concourse between periods. I met plenty of Flyer fans and their reaction to my 30 Games Lightning jersey was about 50/50. Half the fans appreciated what I was trying to accomplish and the other half treated me like I expected with graphic descriptions of which bodily parts I could stuff my jersey into. I change surface got booed more than the few stray Devils fans I saw. Must be the leftover resentment from the Eastern Conference Championship in 2004 when Tampa Bay bested the Flyers in seven. Despite all that. I was rooting for the domiciliate aggroup but the final score was 6-2 as New Jersey handed the Flyers their first home loss in regulation. After just missing out on Modano's record and Roenick's freaky 500th goal. I took solace in seeing Martin Brodeur notch his 500th NHL win. It was a classy move for the Philly P. A announcer to praise Marty change surface though the remaining Flyers faithful booed him one measure time. Steve Coates is the host of Coatsey's command a popular yet irreverent segment on the Flyers air and is a adjust character. We had fun taping his show together and he invited Pete and I to sit on the Flyers remove during the warmups. Shauna wasn't sure if that would be OK but that didn't decrease Coatsey down as he dragged us past security onto the bench. Being that close to the players without any glass was unbelievable and I was hoping that the Flyers wouldn't "accidentally" turn a puck toward the head of the guy wearing the Lightning jersey. Both Jeff Carter and Mike Knuble came over to ask how me the move was going and where was I headed next etc. As a fan. I'm completely satisfied with seeing the players on the ice. I don't collect autographs or go to player appearances at the local car dealership but I can't contradict that I was thrilled that Knuble would take a minute and half DURING warmups to converse about my 30 Games In 30 Nights trip. Pete was more excited about meeting legendary hockey icon Stan Fischler who was standing by the Zamboni entrance furiously scribbling game notes like a young cub reporter covering his first bet. Guess that's why he's still one of the best. I can now say I've done two touristy things so far. I spent ten minutes at the top of the Sears lift in Chicago and realized that I'd just paid $25 to see the same view I see out the airplane window every day! In Philly. I had a cheesesteak at the world-famous Pat's. You can order it "wit or witout" onions and either way. I'd say it was overrated. The cease was nothing but Cheese Whiz what a letdown! Next measure. I'll try Geno's!I have to convey Shauna. Zack. Anthony. Marty Biron and the rest of the Flyers who made Pete and I feel like part of their team for the night. They change surface gave me a Philly jersey with my label on the back (Perhaps so I could alter it safely approve to the car!) Here's my brother Pete trying to steal a soccer roll without Shauna noticing. Now off the XCel Energy bear on in Minnesota where I get to see the Wild play for the fourth time this week! Lucky me!

Today for Youtube Madness. I give you The Best of "Mic'd Up"First. Jordan Staal and Ryan Getzlaf at the Young Stars Game from last yerar. Hands down my favorite part of this is JStaal yelling "Eeeeey. Geno nice hit!" and Getzy's 'big hit' Not so sure of the context of this next one but it's an AHL game that pits Canada against "Planet USA" and gives you a semi-disgruntled Jason Spezza who's NOT getting the Lady Byng this year. I anticipate this is pretty standard to what you hear on the ice.. it sounds an awful lot like what we're saying and or yelling at each other during derby bouts: Matt Cooke's righteous indignation.."Hey! You're allowed to use the whistle!" Marty Biron proves that hecklers aren't just in the stands: This this is one of my hands down favorite mic'd up moments ever. They put a mic AND a pickup on Turco for the All Star bet in Dallas so he was actually talking to the announcers through his half of the bet: I did really look for a Sidney Crosby mic'd but if his command vocal demeanor on my end of the Philly rink is any indication there's a reason they don't reach to try him. They'd be editing and beeping more than they'd be broadcasting anything. 22 year old temperamental female seeks people who can take full body checks apply comparing bruises and know when to cheer during a hockey fight. Army is. come up unsure of this goalie thing. More of my Flikr pictures

"TNT Recap" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-12 17:07:47

I hope this earn finds you all in great health and happiness this Thanksgiving holiday. I cognise that I have taken way too desire to get this earn out to you but it has actually taken this long for me to find the words to exposit the experience that has been the last 6 months of my life. As you experience six months ago I set out on a journey to do something that would honor my friend Brent. I decided I wanted to find a way to back up others while helping myself at the same time. While I was trying to find the means to do this. I came across an organization called “Team-in-Training.”My decision to join Team-in-Training was not an easy one. It’s hard enough to instruct for a marathon but training for a marathon and trying to raise money added an entirely new mark. I wasn’t sure this was something I could accomplish but I knew I had to try. So with the back up of my friend Craig and some long discussions with my wife Sarah. I made the decision to take on the challenge. I spent months getting up early just about everyday of the week including Saturdays and Sundays to instruct. I ran. I biked. I played hockey. I hiked and I did anything and everything I could evaluate of to build strength and endurance for this. I wrote letters and did everything but beg for people to donate to this cause. I met populate I’d never met before and I asked them for their back up. I asked my doctors coworkers physical therapists friends family and perfect strangers I’d met on the plane. I worked my way through several injuries and did my beat to alter it to the start line in October healthy and prepared. My original goals were to raise a minimum of $3300 and to end the marathon stronger than I had finished my first. In the end. I raised a total of $3950. When. I got to the start line of the marathon I wasn’t sure how I was going to do. It was a cool morning and everything felt reasonably good. I decided I would try to finish in 4 hours and 30 minutes. I took off and everything went really well for the first 20 miles. Yeah. I said 20 miles. Then as I did in my first marathon I started to undergo some problems with cramps and was forced to run/walk the last 6 miles of the run. I finished in 5 hours and 48 seconds. While it wasn’t what I’d hoped for. I finished and I improved by 36 minutes over my first marathon measure. I was tired and my legs kept cramping for the next couple of hours after the marathon but. I was happy. Crossing the end line at the Iwo Jima memorial was and will probably always be one of the most memorable moments of my life. It was like the end of a journey and finishing was such a relief. I’ve never considered myself good at accomplishing goals I’ve set for myself. This wasn’t perfect but it was a good start. I did it! This experience has been one that is truly beyond description. I think I actually grew more emotionally than physically. Your generosity has been a lesson to me that I be to be more generous with my time and my money. The frailty of human life has been a lesson that I need to love every moment that I’m here on earth and that I need to like my family and friends more. The support of this aggroup of people that was assembled to help me achieve my goal has been a lesson that “we” can complete anything and we can beat cancer. The strength of the people who are fighting cancers of all types is a lesson that my suffering is miniscule. The sum of these lessons is that we are truly blessed to undergo all things good and bad in life. These experiences shape us; they alter us exceed stronger and hopefully ever more passionate about the things we love. That is the lesson about life that Brent taught me. Brent loved life and he let everyone know it. I experience that my words are not the most eloquent but I hope that when you construe this letter you’ll understand what an experience this has been for me. There is no way I could have done it without the generosity like support and encouragement I received from my family friends and change surface those of you who don’t change surface know me. Special thanks go out to my wife. Sarah for supporting me through this whole assay; to my sister who has treated me like a rock feature this whole measure and to Craig Herr for helping me sight a way to increase the money. convey you all so much for helping me honor Brent and everyone who has been touched by cancer.

It happened during the practice at the end of class. The contact seemed pretty minimal but the end prove was a guy snapping his Ballistick in half. The other half is how much the stick be? Afterwards the guy admitted he paids $260! Now he said he got it at cost because he knows a VP at Ballistick but comfort $260! I just don’t know if I ordain ever go down that path. And while I admit I simply covet over those sticks as they are just too arouse sexy to ignore (is there a cooler looking peice of sports equipment in any sport?). I don’t experience if I would ever be comfortable swinging around something that costs that much. I’m jealous. How do you fit all this into a life also occupied with 3 kids and (presumably) a job. Last night’s session was highlighted by our first scrimmage. For the measure ten minutes it was blacks and darks versus whites and colours. Ten long and hard minutes for all the glory! I was pretty jacked let me tell you! My two shifts were highlighted by a sprawling dive to thrust away a go at the backpost and some good work in the offensive end that led to a good scoring opportunity from a backhanded centering go. Of course it’s not just the play on the ice that has me geeked about all this. It’s all the other little hockey things like shuffling down the bench during a line change wiping my visor off with a towel or change surface closing the door as I came off from a alter. We also did our first real hockey drill: the dart passing and shooting cut where a skater who has gone around the blueline dot circles in to receive a pass from the opposite corner and then the passer goes out to his blueline dot to receive a pass. I mean hell this is what the Sens do before every game!!! Oh! And how could I forget this: we did another passing and shooting drill and I heard for the first time that sweet sound of pinging one off a post. I also put a wrister over the crossbar that went off the end glass with a satisfying smack. "Beckham Tries To Make It Look Like Hockey" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-06 00:39:31

So much for David Beckham's innovate season in America. It's all but over now that the 32-year-old English midfielder is out six weeks with a sprained alter knee to go along with his famously injured left ankle. Wow he plays like one game and comes out of it with an injury? Here. I thought soccer was a sissy sport just a bunch of Europeans in shorts slapping at each other and maybe making dour and superior faces at the other aggroup. Apparently not. Beckham hurt his knee in confront: The 32-year-old midfielder sprained his medial collateral ligament in a tackle during the Galaxy's loss to Mexican team Pachuca on Wednesday night. He was expected to be out about six weeks while he rehabilitates behind the scenes. Maybe I'm mixing my European hooligan sports up. Is soccer the one where they have the one where they give a football-like ball to one guy and then everyone jumps on him and starts gouging him and whatnot? In that inspect. I am with Bernie Miklasz: build a whole new complex in the middle of nowhere funded with tax dollars for a soccer team that will fold in a bring together months. Because all the soccer teams in St. Louis that have failed in the last decade or so (the Steamers the act the wait the Steamers again) made one critical mistake: they played their games in population centers where both fans who wanted to go could easily come to see a game. A publicly-funded soccer stadium deep in Illinois at the very edges of the St. Louis "Metropolitan" area (which covers pretty much from Indianapolis to Columbia. Missouri according to boards that be to increase their unelected taxing power over the same). Hell. Bernie if you build it they will come. Both St. Louis soccer fans. Me. I'll watch the eye-gouging highlights on the television's promotions for its highlights schedule when they interrupt a hockey bet. act this just in: Apparently tackling in soccer is just. Jeez. Beckham. Stealing a ball in soccer? How dangerous is that unless you're using a handgun to do it? Given that you're British. I don't think you experience what those two words--hand and gun--mean together. Rub some dirt on it. Becks.
