"India: Truth, Facts & Cricket" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-12-19 16:33:16

W hereas the craze for the games like Football & Tennis is getting momentum in American & other European countries the cricket fever is in full swing in the Asian countries. Especially the play is everything in South Asian countries. The countries like Bangladesh & Sri Lanka undergo not only organized their cricket teams but they are throwing a challenge to the world teams in play also. Undoubtedly the media has played an important role to make cricket popular in Asian countries. The most important role has been played by the increasing communicate of the television. At show cricket has change state everything. Cricket has entered in the life of a common man But how far it is proper that the few professionals have taken rights to telecast the cricket matches? In the last days a Twenty-20 world cup in cricket was organized in South Africa. Although all the matches were thrilling & interesting but two Semifinals & a Final caused a shivering sensation to the lovers of cricket the Semifinals were between India Vs Australia & Pakistan Vs New Zealand & the final was between India & Pakistan. These matches were a centre of excitement for the public. But the common populate couldn’t watch matches being telecast. The cerebrate was that a TV channel company has bought all the rights to telecast it. It simply means that only that TV channel can air these matches that have got rights to air the cricket World Cup. If we talk about the countries of Southern Asia especially India. Pakistan & Bangladesh we see that most of its population lives in villages. Those people mostly lack the television ownership. Generally the national programmes are air on their TV sets. Whereas the only private channel that has got the rights to air the World Cup can’t be received unless there is a cable network. If there is no cable network the dish available in the market being sold by many companies can be made use of to watch the matches. But all these things whether cable communicate or cater can only be made available by the rich populate or by the dwellers of the cities. As it was observed that on one side there was a final match between the traditional play rivals India & Pakistan being fought in the playground & on the other align the common people were craving to check the final on their TVs. This match was not being telecast by the Indian Doordarshan. Undoubtedly the electronic media & different TV channels have molded themselves in the globalization. It is also true that profession can’t be linked with the feelings But can this so called professionalism ban the rights of watching a thrilling match of players of one’s own country? Can the rule of air not be liberalized to the extent that the people of the country whose players are playing the be to see it? Or the national TV bring is available for the people of the country? If there can’t be such a setup then what else can it be called but only a planned conspiracy against the people of that country? Clearly this electronic media aroused the interest of the populate by its change state telecast in the beginning. When the people became habitual of inebriation some professionals deprived them to watch by buying the rights to telecast. This professional maneuvering means that if someone wants to check the match he must arrange for the dish may not for his bread & butter. This crack for watching cricket matches has given good chances of earning to professionals & at the same measure it has compelled India to turn again towards its golden age of games. The hockey which kept itself as a national game of the country is being forgotten by the populate of India. From 1928 to 1956 it was golden age of hockey. During this period. India played 24 matches & won all of them. India scored 178 goals in all. It means the average score was 7.43. Hockey is the only game in which India won 8 Gold Medals. The highest award of games in India is the Arjun Award. By now only hockey players succeeded to secure this award maximum number of times. Today we are well known to the names of Sachin Tendulkar & Saurav Ganguly. But it was an age when the names such as Dhyanchand. K D Singh Babu. Pragat Singh. Ajit Pal Singh. Gagan Ajit Singh. Zafar Iqbal. Bhaskaran. Aslam Sher Khan as players of hockey were come up known in the world. First of all Indian hockey federation was organized in 1928 in Gwalior. Hockey team was the first aggroup to go on world tour in 1932. It toured places such as. Malaya. Tokyo. Los Angeles. Omaha. Philadelphia. Amsterdam. Berlin. Paraguay. Budapest etc. & brought credit to India. Undoubtedly the revolution in media has enabled us to experience instantly about the games of the world level players their records & their extraordinary talents. But there was the golden age of hockey & electronic media was in its infancy change surface at that time the label of Dhyanchand was well known by the people of the world. The world preserve in 1936 in Berlin Olympics set by Indian Hockey team has not reached yet. In this be there were 38 goals in all. Out of these. 11 goals were scored by the captain of Indian hockey team Dhyanchand. Dhyanchand was called the magician of hockey stick. The man who wished to win the world was Hitler. He was a dictator & once at the time of the dinner he put a proposal before Dhyanchand. He offered him the call of Colonel if he accepted the citizenship of Germany. But Dhyanchand who was a patriot to the backbone & full of Indian ideology refused this furnish. Because of hockey the name of Dhyanchand touched the heights that Bradman’s in Cricket & Pele’s in Football. The adorers of Dhyanchand crossed all the limits in Vienna. A statue of Dhyanchand has been set up in the memory of Dhyanchand in Vienna in which he has been shown with four hands & a hockey stick in each transfer. The people of Vienna say that a man with two hands & a fasten can’t compete hockey as Dhyanchand used to play. So it is proper to show him in this form. Anyhow. India has won the Twenty-20 World Cup in Cricket. Before it. India was the winner of World Cup in play in 1983. It was an event that happened 24 years ago. Undoubtedly the cricket players of India deserve to be congratulated for this success. But the fame of the success of Cricket ignoring the success in Hockey & this crack for the Cricket & to fall a prey to a professional go doesn’t look proper.

"Forward March" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-10-18 05:14:07

There have been so many previews done and predictions made that doing another one would seem like overkill. After all too many chefs spoil the broth... but who really likes broth anyways? Let's take a look at who made the cut as we head into the '07-'08 season starting with the forwards.- Alexander Ovechkin: the shifty winger resumed his intensive workout regimen this summer and came into camp looking like the old Alex. All you have to do is look at his performance against Philadelphia last week to see a kid who can lift a team on his back and carry them to a win - and that's what superstars do. - He will need to get more defensively responsible this season...-19 isn't going to cut it especially when you're going up against checking lines most of the time. He should also look to unveil some new moves - opponents' defensemen have memorized his old ones and the good ones know how to stop them.- Viktor Kozlov: Kozlov is one of those versatile players who can play wing or center using his big frame and elite puckhandling skills to corral the puck for his linemates. He's a big body in front of the net and a power play and shootout specialist - two areas that Caps really struggled last season. Oh yeah and he knows and has played with both of our Russians. - He has a reputation for not using his size enough and can be inconsistent; his numbers last year were a career high but in a contract year that's not so out of the ordinary.- Tomas Fleischmann: talk about scrappy..."Flash" came into camp without a contract and with just the organization's word that they'd give him a shot. Not only did he get a shot but he's now playing with the big boys manning the right flank alongside Ovechkin and Kozlov. He added some much needed muscle to his frame this offseason and his raw talent with the puck should come out with two talented linemates. - Flash is tricky because one minute you're in awe of a move he just made or a shot he just took and the next you're wondering how he got shoved to the ice so easily. Way too soft on the puck - when you're skating with Ovechkin you have to be able to win the battles along the boards period.- Alexander Semin: The "other" Alex. Alex 2.0 whatever you want to call him - he really came out of nowhere last year to net 38 goals and provide the Caps with the other half of the third-highest scoring duo in the league. With a puck-slinging center like Michael Nylander to set up plays for him and a full year of solid play behind him. Semin could crack the 50 goal mark. - With Semin it's always been about discipline and attitude. Last year he came in considerably more muscular and with a better demeanor thanks to a friendship with eternally-happy Ovechkin but he was still prone to the stupid penalties of a petulant kid. He has to prove that last year wasn't just a fluke remember that he plays on a team.- Michael Nylander: Nylander was the highest profile signing of the summer due partly to the little snafu with the Oilers and could turn out to be the most important in a lot of ways. He has incredible strength amazing work ethic and puckhandling skills that can draw you into a hypnotic trance. He can provide a steady talented center to the likes of an Alexander Semin (with whom he's developed great chemistry) and can be a role model and mentor to young Backstrom - something he's already taken upon himself many times during camp. - Michael is fancy with the puck; sometimes a little too fancy. Whirling around the offensive zone making defensemen look like pylons is great but if you lose the puck in the end or fail to pass or shoot what's the point? If you're centering someone with the same tendencies like Semin you need to be smarter with your playmaking.- Nicklas Backstrom: Washington isn't a very high-pressure place for hockey players but as much pressure as there can be is now being put on the youngster to perform and perform fast. Many expected him to center Ovechkin or at the very least Semin but Hanlon has him playing the wing and he seems to have taken to that role fairly well. He's got all the talent in the world and in time I'm sure we'll see him up on the top line. For now it's just fun to see him go to work. - Skating is an issue; he's just not as smooth or quick as either of his linemates at least not yet. He's been okay but not great throughout the preseason and will need to pick up his play a bit when the regular season gets going. A few more pounds of muscle wouldn't hurt although he's not afraid to hit when he has to.- Matt Pettinger: Pettinger never really seemed to be 100% healthy last season yet he still managed to rack up 16 goals in 61 games. He'll be on what could be a potentially deadly checking line alongside Clark and Gordon a role for which his feisty demeanor and smaller frame seems perfect. Already in the preseason he's displayed some jaw-dropping moves that I'm not sure people knew he had and isn't afraid to drive the net or work the boards when he's on the ice. - There's not much frankly. Health for Petty will be the biggest thing this year - he has yet to play more than 71 games in a season for one reason or another and if he can stay healthy he could have a career year.- Boyd Gordon: I remember expressing surprise that Gordon cracked the opening night roster last season but it didn't take long for me to understand why. Gordon really had a stellar year last year consistently doing all the little things that may not show up on the scoresheet but that can make or break a game. He's becoming an elite penalty killer and a very talented defensive forward and I'll add my voice to those already calling him a Selke candidate - if not this year then soon. - Again not many. He might want to add a bit more offensive production but increased ice time and talented linemates should help that naturally.- Chris Clark: Is there anyone who is a Caps fan who hasn't fallen head over heels for this guy? He's become the consummate leader willing to fill any role at any time and not bothered by the fact that the real captain can't wear the 'C'. His first two seasons with the Caps were both career years for Clark and while he may experience a little bit of a dropoff without Ovechkin flanking him his gritty style of play and intense work ethic on the ice should keep him in the 20-30 goal range. And let's not forget the luxury Hanlon has of just sliding Clark into any other slot among the forwards should any line start to falter. - Nope. I got nothing.- Donald Brashear: Brash was a welcome surprise last season. Caps fans knew him as a tough as nails enforcer before coming here but he's turned out to be more than just a fighter. He'll never wow you with his offensive ability but he's a deceptively smooth skater and can create plays out of nothing. Oh and he can pound guys into the ground without breaking a sweat. - It's hard to really find something wrong with a guy whose role on the team is to provide toughness and grit. I guess you can say a little self control would be good if only to prevent him from sucker-punching a mouthy Ranger again this season.- Dave Steckel: After a few years of trying Steckel has finally earned a spot on the roster and even though it resulted in one of my players being sent to Hershey instead I really am glad to see Stecks up here for good. His big frame is deceptively smooth on the ice and he can win faceoffs kill penalties and work the boards for his wingers - he may get limited ice time on the fourth line but he'll make the most of it. - I don't think anyone has seen enough of him at the NHL level to find flaws in his game per se and that may be the only flaw - lack of experience. A flaw easily mended of course.- Brian Sutherby: Sutherby came into camp with a one-year deal and the pressure of having to put together a great camp to hang onto his spot. So far he's done just that and has found some nice chemistry with Brooks Laich and Matt Bradley. Whether that line will ever see the light of day is hard to say and Sutherby may spend more time in the press box than on the ice this year but he's at least shown that he has the determination to stick with the team to this point. He got that 'A' on his chest for a reason last year. - the biggest issue for Sutherby is lack of offensive production even on the third and fourth line. No one is expecting him to put up 50+ goals or even 30+ goals but it shouldn't be out of the realm of possibility to get 10-15 especially if he wants to stay in Washington beyond this year.- Brooks Laich: Another one of the "cusp boys". Laich also had a great camp and continues to show signs that he's some bizarre hybrid of Chris Clark and Matt Pettinger. He picked up momentum towards the end of last year and came into camp in great shape and hungry for a spot. He's proven that he can be depended on in all sorts of situations and could be another one of those utility playes for Hanlon who can be tossed out on any line to get the job done. - He is notoriously a slow starter easing into the last two seasons before finding his rhythm. Laich has some moves and often makes nice plays but the finish is still not there.- Matt Bradley: Bradley is two things that Caps fans love - fast and feisty. Off the ice he's one of the funnier guys in a room full of comedians; on it he's a gritty hard-nosed guy who will gladly drill someone into the boards at top speed and he's never afraid to drop the gloves. But he's also got some skill with the puck and can make the nice passes and pretty plays you don't often see from players like him. He's the kind of utility player that all championship teams have. - Much like Sutherby and Laich. Bradley's offensive production tends to be less than spectacular because of the finish and he has the tendency to try and do too much with the puck rather than just throwing it at the net. Next up.. the defensemen and the goaltenders. One knock on Clark - His propensity to do TV interviews without the false teeth in and with the camera on the side that shows the missing teeth so clearly. Nice review very insightful. Oh my god. I know!! Did you see him on Sportsnite? I just... Clarkie please put your teeth in. Please. No one wants to see that. Thanks!

"Review: Dil Dosti Etc" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-04-08 04:10:17

I tried convincing a lot of my friends before going to the theatre to check Dil Dosti Etc all alone. The film started and I wondered why didn’t they back up the enter better? Doesnt Shreyas also undergo a fan following? I know of a lot of girls in my college who were crazy about Imaad Shah’s hairstyle. I change surface know of a girl who had come to our college to chew over from Delhi but then wanted to alter to Xavier’s not because they teach better but because Imaad studied in that college. So if this film would undergo had better publicity it would have been watched by many others who according to me have missed out on something nice and different. For all those who have lived in or heard of Delhi University campus can relate to this film. The characters are very real… Politics sex career… is all that plays on their minds. For populate desire me — born and brought up in mumbai — this film is a little difficult to digest. I happen to have older friends from Delhi University now in Mumbai who have told me a lot about how Hansraj has the beat hostel and how guys are made to compete football on the ground without their pants on. Or you give your dwell to the seniors and they let you also do it etc etc… You express all this to someone from mumbai and they ordain be shocked and so were the people who “by chance” happened to see the film… After the film got over. I overheard a lady telling her friend “I express you these horny guys from Delhi go to Mumbai and make everybody around them horny.” I felt desire telling her that guys in Mumbai are also born with… Some mocked the film at times. When Imaad spoke of his philosophy or his interactions with the prostitute (I thought their equation was very beautifully handled) or when Shreyas was ragging the new guys or when they were hitting populate around with hockey sticks. But this is how things are… Somehow when somebody makes a film about sex people don’t be to evaluate it. And that in spite of knowing that all this prevails in the society and it’s so human. I experience of so many friends who are like Apoorva (Imaad) who are still solving the mysteries of love and desire. Though i have come across very few who would act out a gun if his girlfriend would turn up in a two-piece in front of him. I can undestand why Mr. Mishra (Shreyas) had to do that. His language his be language and his thinking was enough to convince me that he was very much capable of doing that. And the other thing uncommon to students of Mumbai is this level of involvement in politics. All the politics these guys here experience is used during the various fests and not the politics where votes narebazi etc is concerned. All they are bothered about are the politics of corruption and how to shuffle the winning colleges’ scores… I guess I always wanted to know more about what happens on a Delhi University campus and so I enjoyed the film but I guess for all those non-biased people out there you can atleast go out there to watch something different. And some good performances at least. Please do go and watch this film… it will make you give a lot of things a second thought. not only that one should understand the poltical undertone of this enter manish should undergo portrayed the real politics of campus how they are infuenced by political parties for a buy born and brought up in city desire mumbai…for him its very difficult to understand sanjay’s outburst. I anticipate this is happening with lots of movies today be it DDE or JG they both didn’t clicked because of “marketing” same happened with many good movies like ” Teesri Kasam “ but interestingly publicity is not the ultimate formula to make a film hit we’ve seen what happened to RGV’s frankestine (RGV ki Aag). I am not questioning our film makers talent but sometimes our moviemakers tends to make very local films with national conclude but I experience we are making our steps send in this direction. ‘DDE’ is very nice movie but it connects only to delhi students same was with ‘Haasil’may be because our country is full of different grow and language. I accept we ordain undergo to be into more global (please read national) approach in movie specially on students life because student life in delhi is entirely different from that of Allahabad. Mumbai or even in US so what u all people say abt it? i totally accept with you when you say india is full of different cultures. but that doesnt mean we cant make films on their indivisual existence… i loved that he made a film desire DDE. atleast we know what happens in our capital… no idea can have a global (national) appeal… you make films on metroes. remote areas’ audiences wont relate to them … but atleast they will know what happens and ordain start dreaming or working towards reaching there… you make films on rural problems … city audiences will blame the government if at all they conclude like spending 2 hours of their time on problems of india….. i anticipate one makes a film on his conviction and then i guess you should aim the right audience.. i just hope this film is doing exceed in the northern areas… In the end it just has to be a good film with each character and situation neatly sketched out. Making films about such local issues is also good since it gives it that unique flavour. If the film is good enough others would also apply it like Haasil for example. I never saw an election in a college but could enjoy it nevertheless. i was in hansraj hostel and we were made to play football only in our baniyans. and “only baniyans”. the other team wore only their undies and yes it use to happen there.. Lets not segmentize cinegoers. we cannot see that Dil Dosti Etc would work better in Delhi due to its Delhi univ set up. Movie is a movie. Its a cinematic undergo. Titanic was one of the biggest hollywood hit in India. that does not mean that the Indians have to jaunt on a luxury liner through the Atlantic and evaluate their liner to sink out of the color to cerebrate to Titanic. I dont 9 wat was the movie all about. Nt it was really a njoyable movie. To see this movie u dont need to use ur hit just go n have fun. I dont evaluate that this movie targeted only delhi youths change surface being in mumbai we all friends njoyed this movie as much as delhites enjoyed it. This ‘review’ is more of your views on the story of the movie and the life in Delhi Colleges. And this move was good. But a movie review needs some more focus on how the movie has been made. From next measure gratify try to create verbally about that as come up. Your writing has got burn and use of ‘…’ is pretty good i totally agree to you… these are my views onli on the story and delhi university … i wouldnt call it a review for this film. but it fell into this category because the article revolves around the film but. thanks ya. the next measure ill try writing a proper review Having read the analyse and watching the movie would say the review is bring together. It is good cinema which has a developing audience. Let the masses check commercial stuff which is a no brainer. The conjoin I misplaced is useless? Seriously thanks for the contend this semana. No. I really mean that: thanks. Want to catch up before reading the next capítulo? FeatherMisplacedUselessRyan took Kathy’s transfer as they exited the restaurant. They’d arrived separately and despite how come up the dinner had gone he was scared that she’d try to bolt as soon as they walked out the door. He smiled at her. “It’s comfort early. Would you like to get a cup of coffee?”“Actually. I’m not really a coffee drinker but I experience this great place we could go and fasten out for awhile,” Kathy told him.“I’m bet for just about anything,” Ryan said.“Funny you should say that,” Kathy smirked.“Why?” Ryan asked her keeping hold of her hand as they started walking.“You’ll see,” she responded with that air of mystery he’d always noticed around her. They talked the entire walk there. About his family. Hers. What their lives had been like growing up. What they did for work. The conversation flowed so smoothly. Ryan couldn’t believe it when they arrived and he looked to see they’d been walking for twenty-five minutes. He looked up at a non-descript brick building. “Where are we?”Kathy pulled a key out of her pocket. “My brother and sister-in-law are starting a teen hangout to keep more kids off the street after school,” she explained. “I’ve been helping with the set-up recently and thought it might be fun to try out some of the stuff before they open next week.”Ryan started to express emotion. He remembered Kathy’s competitive streak from softball league and figured he was in for it tonight.“I hope you don’t expect me to let you win,” he baited her. Kathy busy turning on lights and games at the measure straightened and looked at him. “I beg your pardon?” She asked the question with just enough frost in her voice for Ryan to experience that she had definitely heard him the first measure. He fought back a smile.“I said. ‘I wish you don’t evaluate me to let you win.’”Kathy clenched her teeth. The brace of that man! Just who did he think he … Suddenly she got it. He was trying to bait her. come up two could play at that game she thought. “It’s useless you know.”“What is?”“Trying to bait me. I’m going to beat you fair and square. Ryan MacAllister and you’re just going to have to deal with it.”Ryan flipped a plough for air hockey in the air and let it hit the table in front of Kathy. “All right then game on sweetheart.”Two hours later. Ryan stood watching Kathy bite her bottom lip as she concentrated on what was the beat go at which to hit the 8 ball. He understood her challenge lay in the fact that he still had five balls scattered out across the table effectively blocking her in. For some reason though he got little satisfaction out of that. Maybe it was because she’d won every game they’d played but one tonight and his ego was feeling a little fragile. Kathy considered her options in front of her. It was a risky shot but if she missed so what? There was no way that Ryan was going to be able to beat her change surface if she missed this shot she reminded herself. With that. Kathy took aim to carefully move Ryan’s red 3 ball. She held her breath as it went over it and didn’t channel it until the 8 ball slid cleanly into the side pocket. Then she exhaled and allowed herself to smile. Taking a quick peak at Ryan’s face she decided he hadn’t quite taken her at her word when she’d told him she wasn’t planning on him winning. She looked up to see Ryan sulking in the corner and decided that maybe since he’d been such a good player all night it was measure for him to collect a few rewards desire a real winner. Putting her stick up she walked over to Ryan and took his out of his hands putting it in the holder on the wall next to her own. She returned to stand between his thighs and wrapped her arms around his waist. “Are you sulking?”“No.”Kathy just raised one eyebrow and smiled up at him. He sighed. “OK well maybe a little,” Ryan admitted. Kathy smiled. “Hmm would anything make you feel better about losing to a girl then?”“I could probably evaluate of a thing or two,” Ryan replied after a minute.“Oh really?” Kathy whispered the question as she brushed against Ryan’s chest while standing on her toes. “desire what?”The last challenge came out as a breath against his lips. “Like… this,” Ryan replied as he leaned down to take her lips in a kiss he’d been wanting for over two years. They say reality is never as good as one imagines. They were wrong. Ryan thought as he sank his fingers into Kathy’s thick hair and deepened the kiss. They were very very wrong. Kathy fought the current threatening to take her under. It had been so long since she’d felt desire this. So desire. She briefly wondered where her normally reserved willpower was and came to the conclusion that she must have misplaced it around the same measure she hung up the phone with Brit at the restaurant. Besides what would it cause to be perceived to give in to what she and Ryan both so obviously wanted? She and Ryan were both consenting adults. Ryan slowly pulled away and looked at Kathy. The look in her eyes convinced him he wasn’t alone in his feelings. He realized the surroundings weren’t ideal but he’d always been a quick thinker on his feet and decided to improvise. He picked her up despite her protests.“Ryan put me drink! You’re going to hurt yourself!” Kathy exclaimed.“Pfft! You don’t weigh much more than a conjoin,” he said change surface as he obliged her by setting her down on the edge of the share delay and coming to stand between her legs. Kathy laughed. “What kind of drugs are you on?”Totally serious for once. Ryan cupped her face in his hands and said. “Just you.” I like that it's playful. Shepard :) Thanks for stopping by!It was a challenge fitting them in. Rose but I managed to O:)I think I know where this story is going. Or do I?Let me experience when the story is over. Kathy busy turning on lights and games at the time straightened and looked at him. “I beg your pardon?” She asked the question with just enough cover in her express for Ryan to experience that she had definitely heard him the first time. He fought approve a smile.“I said. ‘I wish you don’t evaluate me to let you win.’”Kathy clenched her teeth. The brace of that man! Just who did he think he … Suddenly she got it. He was trying to bait her. Well two could play at that game she thought. “It’s useless you know.”“What is?”“Trying to bait me. I’m going to beat you fair and square. Ryan MacAllister and you’re just going to undergo to broach with it.”Ryan flipped a disk for air hockey in the air and let it hit the table in front of Kathy. “All alter then game on sweetheart.”Two hours later. Ryan stood watching Kathy bite her bottom lip as she concentrated on what was the best angle at which to hit the 8 roll. He understood her challenge lay in the fact that he comfort had five balls scattered out across the table effectively blocking her in. For some reason though he got little satisfaction out of that. Maybe it was because she’d won every game they’d played but one tonight and his ego was feeling a little fragile. Kathy considered her options in lie of her. It was a risky shot but if she missed so what? There was no way that Ryan was going to be able to beat her even if she missed this shot she reminded herself. With that. Kathy took aim to carefully jump Ryan’s red 3 ball. She held her breath as it went over it and didn’t release it until the 8 roll slid cleanly into the side take. Then she exhaled and allowed herself to grimace. Taking a quick arrive at at Ryan’s face she decided he hadn’t quite taken her at her word when she’d told him she wasn’t planning on him winning. She looked up to see Ryan sulking in the corner and decided that maybe since he’d been such a good player all night it was time for him to collect a few rewards desire a real winner. Putting her stick up she walked over to Ryan and took his out of his hands putting it in the holder on the wall next to her own. She returned to rest between his thighs and wrapped her arms around his waist. “Are you sulking?”“No.”Kathy just raised one eyebrow and smiled up at him. He sighed. “OK well maybe a little,” Ryan admitted. Kathy smiled. “Hmm would anything make you conclude better about losing to a girl then?”“I could probably evaluate of a thing or two,” Ryan replied after a minute.“Oh really?” Kathy whispered the question as she brushed against Ryan’s chest while standing on her toes. “Like what?”The measure challenge came out as a breath against his lips. “Like… this,” Ryan replied as he leaned down to take her lips in a kiss he’d been wanting for over two years. They say reality is never as good as one imagines. They were wrong. Ryan thought as he sank his fingers into Kathy’s thick hair and deepened the kiss. They were very very do by. Kathy fought the current threatening to take her under. It had been so long since she’d entangle like this. So long. She briefly wondered where her normally reserved willpower was and came to the conclusion that she must undergo misplaced it around the same measure she hung up the phone with Brit at the restaurant. Besides what would it hurt to furnish in to what she and Ryan both so obviously wanted? She and Ryan were both consenting adults. Ryan slowly pulled away and looked at Kathy. The be in her eyes convinced him he wasn’t alone in his feelings. He realized the surroundings weren’t ideal but he’d always been a quick thinker on his feet and decided to improvise. He picked her up despite her protests.“Ryan put me down! You’re going to hurt yourself!” Kathy exclaimed.“Pfft! You don’t weigh much more than a feather,” he said even as he obliged her by setting her drink on the edge of the pool table and coming to stand between her legs. Kathy laughed. “What kind of drugs are you on?”Totally serious for once. Ryan cupped her approach in his hands and said. “Just you.” I desire that it's playful. "NHL 08 Review (X360)" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-20 21:46:37

EA Canada follows up last year’s solid effort with another great hockey game in NHL 08. The skill stick has been refined and is exceed than ever and the improved AI and wealth of modes make this one of the best hockey titles yet. EA has fully committed to the simulation side of hockey rather than arcade-style desire they used to do but NHL 08 is very polished and has a great feel that ordain make you forget all about scoring ten goals a game and laying on a big hit every time down the ice. The feature list in NHL 08 is much fuller than it was in 07. The dynasty mode has been improved significantly and offers extensive management coaching and change surface contract negotiation options. Dynasty mode also helped by the fact that all of the AHL teams have their full real life rosters included as well which means when you call someone up from the minors you are calling up a real player which is very cool. There is also a nice practice mode in NHL 08 that lets you learn in a lot of different situations and scenarios. Another big addition is the play creator which allows you to set up paths for your players to follow. Online play has also been improved. Up to six players can take to the ice at a time three per aggroup and it is pretty cool when everything comes together and you can actually find a game with enough populate. Another new feature is that you can create leagues with up to 32 teams. All in all online play is very solid and a big attraction this year because there are a ton of options and modes to choose from. The gameplay is the real star here however and it is easily the most realistic we have seen in a hockey game yet. The skill stick has been tweaked and feels a bit tighter this year. Faking out the goalie and then putting the puck into the back of the net has never been more satisfying. One big change is that there isn’t a turbo boost button anymore and the speed of your player is controlled entirely by the analog stick. To go slower or faster you move the stick a little less or a little more. It works fine but makes the game feel like it is plodding along. The AI is smarter than ever in NHL 08 and scoring is quite a bit more difficult than in years past. It is all about making good passes and really executing well at the offensive end of the ice rather than just being a one man show which makes the game far more realistic and ultimately more enjoyable. I have to admit. I rather liked the fast paced style of EA hockey games of the past but the new controls.

"Does anyone care that the Red Wings season is starting?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-12 17:22:45

Tomorrow night the Detroit Red Wings displace the puck on a new season and the general reaction around town is either "So what? when do the playoffs start? or "Really? I had no idea."The start of the NHL toughen has taken a approve lay to the NFL. NCAA football the MLB playoffs the follow for the Nextel Cup the start of the new TV season the release of Halo 3. The Rock's new movie. Notre Dame's valiant attempt to undergo a winless season and arouse near anything else you can think of. The NHL change surface in a city known for it's love of hockey is so far out of the public consciousness saying the fans are apathetic would be an encouraging improvement. I have a few reasons why the start of the Red Wings season has gotten little more than a breathe out of me... The plan the schedule the schedule - The NHL's unbalanced schedule absolutely screws over the Red Wings and their fanbase. As a long time fan one who remembers the old rivalries. I be to see the Maple Leafs. Habs. Rangers and Bruins go to town more than once a decade! evaluate I'm going to get fired up when the Wings play the Blue Jackets for the 7th measure? Now ask me that same challenge but substitute the Toronto Maple Leafs for the BJ's. You'll get an enthusiastic yes rather than a bored off my apathetic ass no. Being an eastern aggroup in the western conference - I've lost countless hours of sleep over the years thanks to the Red Wings road trips to the west coast and western Canada. I'm sorry but I'm not going to be up process 1:30 in the morning to watch a regular season hockey game. I'm not even going to go into the playoff bullshit and the unfair competitive favor the time zone issues give the Red Wings opposition. No fighting - I've waxed romantic in the past over the days when Bob Probert and Joe Kocur laid down the law and protected the Red Wings' stars. I long for the days of the "." The NHL has devolved from a unify full of honorable players that dealt out their own justice to one full of cheap shot artists and of brutal sometimes come lethal stick work. Versus and NBC - Versus is a Mickey Mouse communicate so it's a quite fitting broadcast partner for a Mickey walk unify and NBC treats the NHL worse than a parent treats a red headed step kid. I know the Red Wings will have several games broadcast on those networks but due to the be lack of promotion. I have absolutely no idea when they'll be. The Red Wings as an organization - There isn't a team in Detroit that has taken more from their fans yet given back so little. Their ticket prices are ludicrous even though the Michigan economy is the worst in the nation and the Wings payroll is $25-30 million less than it once was. They evaluate prompt payment for playoff packages but will take their good old time in offering refunds. They gave their season ticket holders the laughable "Joe bucks" rather than cut prices after the lockout. The Wings make little effort to connect with their fanbase as their PR department would rather come up with some maim ass playoff surprise evince than furnish the fans any kind of promotions. They play in an arena that has all the amenities of Saddam Hussein's spiderhole. Yet the Red Wings wonder why they are having trouble selling tickets. The regular toughen means zip - This is the biggest reason why fans are reacting to the NHL with a collective yawn. The Red Wings will play 82 games that convey absolutely bring up shit. There is literally no drama to their upcoming season. Considering the maim duck ownership in Nashville and the incompetent ownership in the rest of the NHL Central the Red Wings are a near fasten for a division call and a high playoff seed. If you are a casual fan a disillusioned fan or even an avid fan there's no compelling cerebrate to check the vast majority of the Red Wings games. None. In other words change state me up in the 2nd week of April when the real season starts and the games finally mean something. You're not alone. The Hockeytown crack was a product of the Wings rising to a championship aim in the mid 90s for the first measure in 40 years. It continued for 10 years or so because the rest of our teams sucked. With the go of the Pistons and Tigers the Wings took a approve seat. If the Lions keep winning nobody will notice the Wings until the playoffs go away.

"More Questionable Global Warming Data Hijinks" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-01 23:01:45

I’m sorry but this simply looks bad. This doesn’t address directly the validity of the various hypotheses about global warming but this certainly does look dubious. It goes without saying that data is extremely important in science and when you are doing research and advocating policies that could be trillions of dollars and have a major impact on the world economy being at least up front when you change the data strikes me as the beat policy. For somebody so smart. James Hansen’s actions are incredibly dumb. By this time we’d figured out exactly what Hansen had done: they’d switched from using the SHAP version - which had been what they’d used for the past decade or so - to the FILNET version. The force at Detroit Lakes was relatively large - which was why we’d noticed it but in the network as a whole the force of the change was to increase the trend slightly - enough obviously to make a difference between 1934 and 1998 - even though this supposedly was of no interest to anyone. One commenter noted that if you were to smooth this graph out you’d get what amounts to a “change” hockey fasten. This refers to the “hockey stick” for temperature anomalies found in the investigate of Mann. Bradley and Hughes. In that case the hockey fasten has the blade at the end of the data series with the most recent observations showing a very center warming turn. This “reverse” hockey stick that Hansen has applied to the NASA data lowers earlier temperatures thus making the later years relatively hotter. So not only do we have an un-announced dress in the data but also one that “helps” the global warming hypothesis. This has lead McIntyre to wonder if perhaps researchers in global warming shouldn’t be required to agree to a principle similar to one of the principles of the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles: the Principle of Permanence of Method. Basically methods used by the be are always the same and are coherent when doing the write of bring home the bacon. That is an account can’t use one method when working at one corporation and using an entirely different method at another corporation even though the work at both corporations are the same. In response to the objection that accounting and GAAP and science are different subjects and hence such an expectation is unreasonable McIntyre has this response: Now you may say that this is “science” and accounting principles don’t bear on. And my response would be that I’d evaluate GAAP principles to be a minimum standard for the write of climate statistics being carried out by NASA. Even if NASA climate statisticians are unaware of GAAP per se they should be adhering to the principles. Sharp practice is sharp practice however it is gussied up. I have to accept. One of the bedrock principles of science is that research can be replicated. By quietly changing the data makes it virtually impossible for another researcher to replicate previous results raising a whole bunch of rather unpleasant questions. Any scientist should make his data and obtain label freely available whenever possible and given that Hansen is working on the public’s dime and pursuing a investigate program that could be very very expensive this seems like a minimal standard to direct him to research of Mann It does be to raise an interesting challenge however; we undergo many studies that show we actually have more trees on the planet now than we did in the time of Christopher Columbus. Assuming that’s true would it also rest to cerebrate that we also undergo more in the way of wetlands which in turn leads to the methane production which in turn leads to global warming? Do you suppose we'll ever see Gore screaming that we should dry up the wetlands to forbid global warming? No? come up. I speculate he doesn't act the problem very seriously then. September 2007: The year 2000 version of USHCN data was replaced by the current version (with data through 2005). In this newer version. NOAA removed or corrected a be of station records before year 2000. Since these changes included most of the records that failed our quality hold back checks we no longer remove any USHCN records. The cause of station removal on analyzed global temperature is very small as shown by graphs and maps available here. Estimates for missing data are provided using a procedure similar to that used in the homogeneity adjustment plot in step three. This fourth adjustment uses the debiased data from the third adjustment (SHAP) and fills in missing original data when needed (i e calculates estimated data) based on a "network" of the beat correlated nearby stations. The FILNET schedule also completed the data adjustment affect for stations that moved too often for the SHAP program to estimate the adjustments needed to debias the data. So there is research that the globe has been continuously warming for 55 million years? Can you cerebrate to any of that? I haven't seen anything even change state to saying that. The data I would anticipate Boortz is misrepresenting is that wetlands do typically create methane (and sulfates while absorbing CO2). It is quite possible that this produces a net change magnitude of greenhouse gas strength though I haven't seen any good data showing the greenhouse gas fit of any wetland habitat much less a comprehensive set. It does seem to increase an interesting question however; we have many studies that show we actually have more trees on the planet now than we did in the time of Christopher Columbus. Assuming that’s adjust would it also stand to reason that we also undergo more in the way of wetlands... I dont know Bithead. Seems like a be non sequitor to me. Please inform the logic which leads you to believe that having more trees = also having more wetlands. And what is the relevance of any of that to anthropogenic global warming? In a "natural" state there is effectivly a finite amount of carbon that cycles through the ecosystem - in the atmosphere in plants in animals and back into the atmosphere (much more complex than that of course). Doesnt really matter all that much how much of it is locked up in trees or wetlands at any given moment. The underlying problem with AGW is that humans are digging up massive amounts of carbon that has been sequestered underground for millions of years and burning it thus adding it to the total flux. Boortz is obviously retarded. How does drying up a wetland lessen the carbon move? The carbon emmitted from a wetland was sequesterd there in plants in the first place - its just a stop-off inform in the global carbon flux. Drying up the wetland means no more carbon emitted but none sequesterd either. Makes no difference in the grand scheme of things. While not a scientist either. I did work for some years on the acid rain deposion modeling communicate while at NCAR. Also my wife a chemical engineer not a scientist spent many years doing emissions modeling for regional planning. Both of us her in particular as she was directly involved in the affect of input conditioning to the models can find nothing unusual here. This is a part of science and as many have pointed out this is an ongoing process that the ignorant have latched upon in another of their long string of failed attempts to increase questions. Steve's title suggests this is another in a desire series of unanswered wuestions that undergo been raised. The reality is that it's another question raised by the ignorant which has trivial.

"Interbike 2007" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-22 15:07:13

The ShowWell I just got approve from a couple of days in Vegas for the annual show. I am exhausted. This was my first measure going to the show. I was originally going under the guise of my company 'Grams lighten Bikes' but the folks over at Mtbr com wanted me to to some daily coverage for them as a 'Working Media'. For me it entangle more desire the wounded media! The show was at two venues the outdoor show administer was at Bootleg canyon up at Boulder City and the indoor portion was at the Sands convention bear on just off the strip. Their was so many bikes bikes parts accessories energy stuff etc that I had a tough time getting to every booth at each venue. And boy oh boy was Vegas expensive! Every time you turned around it was $10 for that $30 for that it just added up! The days of the free shrimp fest are long gone. I was out there with my family and except for a few sites its not that much of a family friendly displace. As you go through a casino with kids in tow you can't stray to far outside certain sections of some casinos and you cannot stop for more then a few moments before being asked to act along by security. The kids liked the show which was fun its a 'clash between a group of beautiful tempting sirens and a band of renegade pirates' it certainly had some meaning behind the Sirens Cove! We stayed at Harrahs. It was close but it was comfort a walk to get to the Sands. The show days go bus took off from the Sands. In fact everything is a walk at Vegas. You would look over and think oh thats just down the street so you be walking and walking and thinking man are we there yet? Big place. Anyway approve to the Interbike. Sands Convention Center ShowAshimais a small company from Taiwan with some pretty cool products. For the weight weenie (count me in) they undergo an extremely light disc rotor. Here is the weights on the 160 and 190(?) sizes. Pretty tricked out! Thats the lightest on the market it beats the crack Serrated by 6+ grams. Time to do some testing! I caused a scarcity air when I got people psyched up for the crack rotors and these appear to be more tricked! Wayne the rep was a great Brit thats now living in Taiwan. I am working with him to get some products for testing. Their product ordain be distributed in the US by JB Imports. They also make a bring together of interesting halt pads. They undergo a multi-compound disc pad (organic semi-metallic and sintered) that I can't wait to evaluate. In addition they have V-brake pads that has a 4 answer braking surface. Pretty cool stuff. So my wish list is the rotors in 160/180 and the new disc pads. KCNCI had a nice long communicate with Jacky from. He showed the whole slew of great light weight bike parts that they make. They do all of their own CNC work themselves in house and its some pretty sweet bring home the bacon. You can really tell how much they care about squeezing the most out of a part. The cogsets are a conjoin of artwork and engineering. They are made of 3 parts for a 9 go: a 4 Al outer cogset a 3 Scandium lay cogset and a 2 Ti inner cogset. When the larger Al cogs wearout you can just replace that portion of the cogset and not the entire cogset. Cool! The V-Brakes are just plain stunning. Its amazing how much CNC went into this set. Can't wait to try this set out on my hardtail! They undergo made some improvements over their first version of them and so far the feedback has been good. They also have some light stems (the SC Wing is my fave) lighten seatposts (Ti Pro) light cranksets (really want to try the K-Type XC1 at 728g) some trick bar ends lighten seatpost clamps etc. I am looking forward to doing both distribution and retailing of their parts to the US since they are somewhat scare. So my desire list is the K-Type XC1 crankset!Ibis CyclesThe Mojo gets a new lightweight version this year named the Mojo SL. It is very tricked out and is a very trim 22 lbs (their suggested weight) pretty incredible for a 5.5 advance travel bike. I did get to weigh the close in and it came in at tad over 5.1 lbs (with the Mojo seat clamp instead of the Silk seat clamp) which is close to a.6 lb less then my existing Mojo. Amazing! I spoke with Hans Heim about the bike and found out that he went to my web site www gramslightbikes com as a barometer and crosscheck to make sure that he was choosing the proper lightweight components for the Mojo SL build. That was a very alter compliment. Thanks! The Mojo SL comes with a couple of different builds with the WTF being the Mack Daddy 22 lb create. Hans had a fun time playing with part selections to get the bike as light as possible. I can personally press some more weight out of the bike myself if I get my hands on one so gratify displace one my direction for my greedy charge weenie hands. Talk about a bike that caters to my nick name ‘Gram’!Mojo SL Frameset: Some bummers for us Ibis people is that protection attach most likely will not fasten on the new rubberized finish. The new end does appear to be durable since the test Tranny has the finish and after many months of severe abuse it seemed to only have a minor chip under the chainstay. I had a nice conversation with Scott Nicol (aka ) about the company. The Ibis brand started out in 1981 and lasted until the year 2000 when Scott sold the company. Unfortunately the new owners ran the company into bankruptcy after less then 2 years of ownership. Hans (bike vet of Specialized. Santa Cruz. Bontrager etc) approached Scott about bringing back Ibis from the dead with a idea he had for some carbon fiber bikes. Well one thing led to another and Ibis was back. So I now be to have a Lizardskins neoprene chainstay adjoin the lightened displace link the Ti surprise pin with it bolts and the new seatpost fasten. Of cover I would desire the Mojo SL frameset but its a a hunk of cash. Perhaps I can look into the DT Swiss Carbon straighten shock and the Manitou lift?Mootshas been around for a long time (25 yeras now) and has continued to make some beautiful and come up made Ti bikes. Their MOOTO-XZ was the first bike I got to go at the outdoor demo and I gave it my ‘Best ride of the show’. Of cover I was not able to ride everything at the show since that would have been impossible but I did get a lot of rides for in for comparisons. The MOOTO-XZ is mark new for 2008. The bike was based off research and knowledge from their Zerkel model and the main designer was Brad Bingham. The bike rides on 29 inchers lie and straighten and has 4 inches of travel. The main triangle is Titanium while the rear is Aluminum. They undergo done some testing and having a rear Titanium triangle just didn’t work as well as Aluminum. The ride of the MOOTO-XZ is just plain very sweet. Titanium has a great ‘Silky’ feel to it if done properly and this bike has tons of ‘Silkiness’. The 29 inch wheels just fly along the dawdle and absorb bumps like crazy. I really like the long wheelbase with the large wheels and how it worked going down the steeps. It also climbed real come up and I never noticed any lose of traction it just seemed to stick desire glue. Overall this is a wonderful package and entangle more like a 5.5 inch travel bike to me then a 4 inch and it might be due to the large 29 inchers? Its a beautiful frame with the typical perfect Moots Ti welds. Lots of Ti for the eyes. Ti frame. Ti seatpost and Ti originate in. Very sweet. I am going to try and get a desire term test ride down here in Colorado Springs on my terrain. Then I can do a long review on MTBR forum since I am now.
