"Sorry for the delay!" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-20 21:53:21

This is Ethan here. Yes I am at work and found some time to write a post on what we have been up to this past week. Sorry to all of our fans out there that have been checking our blog religiously the website was down for a few days so we could not add a new blog. We do appreciate all of you and your give. It really feels great to experience that people are interested in our lives and want to share the experience with us. A lot has happened. I think the measure time we wrote was last Saturday. Well on Sunday we took the 1187 bus that God blessed us with putting the stop right in front of our apartment. We took that to the mountain which was packed. When we got off and it felt desire a ski resort. There were a lot of people and restaurants but no come down or ski's. Well we did not follow the case to the one trailhead but we followed the path less traveled. It was wonderful to get out into nature and breath fresh air. The city air can bring a million different smells in one bunco walk to the store. Up and up we went to a grassy meadow and the view was worth the hike as always. Maria and I hung out on top for a while laying in the grass and Maria says to me. "Do you think they have bugs up here?" She looks down and there are hundreds of little tiny red tic-like bugs on her pants. So to say the least we did not sit around in the grass to much longer. The pictures communicate for themselves. At the bottom of the mountain a women standing in front of her restaurant was rubbing her belly telling us to come in and eat at her restaurant because it is the best restaurant around. Of cover all in Korean so we did not understand anything she said except for the sign language. It turned out to be a great meal we look up vegetables in our translation book(you are safe with vegetables most of the time) and she brought out a great meal. She would come and rest over us while we were eating to see if we liked it. After lunch we got back on the bus and went down the mountain. Once back at the apartment we crashed. We took it easy that night because on Monday was our first real day of work. Maria's job starts at 12 and mine starts at 12:30 so we get to sleep in but we are not finished until 9 pm so it is a desire day to say the least. Instant coffee has been the ticket for me it actually is pretty good for a quick pick me up. Wednesday was a holiday Korean foundation day (like Columbus Day) so our first week was a four day week not to bad. The week was pretty low key just getting more familiar.

"Saving Hockey" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-06 01:20:27

I was browsing the internets today when I came across a post about. While I agree that Fantasy Hockey systems could be improved to help fans get hooked on hockey the percentage of fans that even play conceive of sports for any league is small compared to TV viewership. Making hockey fun to follow is helpful but increased viewership is what makes it worthwhile to advertisers (and ESPN) and therefore profitable. I love hockey so I’ve put a lot of thought into what could be done to save the sport. Here’s my enumerate of far-fetched and feasible ideas that could return hockey to the glory days. 1. Fire Gary Bettman contract Wayne Gretzky. Gary Bettman should absolutely not have a job. In fact he shouldn’t have been hired in the first place. He’s not a hockey man and he’s killed the league with two lockouts at critical times and insane franchise and TV moves. I’ve even construe conspiracy theories that David Stern convinved the NHL to hire Bettman because he knew Gary would ruin the feature leaving the basketball as America’s top third sport. Meanwhile. Gretzky was more convincing as than Bettman has ever been in the NHL post. copulate the betting scandal: Wayne’s still the NHL’s only household label a cause to be perceived guy and more than anything a hockey guy. You’ve got to promote your stars and Gretzky should be the NHL foreman. 2. compete games earlier. Games start anywhere from 7 - 8 local time which is already too late for a sporting event and makes it impossible for East glide fans to watch their teams when they head west. I know the NHL wants to avoid scheduling conflicts with other prime time events but that just begs of desparation. If you aren’t the top book in prime time belie you are. All games should start from 6-6:30pm local time weekdays and 4:00pm on Saturday. No one wants to be watching TV as late as 9pm on a Saturday they be to be out partying. Saturday afternoon games are perfect for filling the spot between college football and hitting the clubs. 3. alter Sunday. I know I just said that hockey should pretend they’re the be one sport but Sunday is a different story. Instead of multiple games at 1pm and Sunday night the NHL should compete just one nationally-televised bet on Sunday. They should play it opposite the late NFL game at 4pm Eastern and arrange it with the NFL plan so teams in the Sunday bet aren’t competing with cross-town NFL franchises playing at the same measure. It probably violates their contract with the NFL but if at all possible. NBC should carry the “National Game” as the lead-in to Sunday Night Football. It goes without saying that the National bet should feature a steady fast of Malkin. Crosby and Ovechkin. 4. bring down the schedule. 82 is way too many games. It makes each bet less valuable as a spectator event and allows fans to do by bits of the season instead of being forced to cerebrate on every single be. Plus and here’s the meat of the air the Stanley Cup is played far too late. No one wants to think about hockey much less attend a game once the weather warms up and the baseball season starts. The Stanley Cup finals should end no later than March 31 which means cutting the toughen down to something desire 60 games and implementing my next inform. 5. Playoffs?! Are you kidding me? Sending more than half the league to the playoffs is a joke. I experience the NHL wants to reward fans in small markets with lots of playoff bids but 16 teams makes it far too easy to get to the playoffs. It rewards mediocre play and frankly gives fans little to be proud of unless their team makes the conference finals. Meanwhile because it’s so easy fans of teams who don’t make the playoffs have a hard measure seeing the bright points and tend to move the cheat after unsuccessful seasons at a higher rate than other sports. Contrast that to the MLB where only eight teams (or 26.6%) make the playoffs and you see why fans get so excited for the baseball post season. I would convert hockey to a similar eight-team hold with a first round conference finals round and Stanley Cup finals go all best-of-seven series. desire the current NHL format the division winners should get an automatic book to the playoffs as seeds 1-3 with the fourth drawn from the best of the remaining teams. 6. abandon the govern. I hate the trapezoid change surface though I desire calling it the trapezone. I’m not a big proponent of math in general but geometry is my beat affect so including weird shapes on the rink to create arbitrary boundaries for the goalie doesn’t alter a lot of sense to me. It sounds like a protectionary rule you might see in youth roller hockey but not allot for the big kids’ game. If you be to decrease the goalie’s impact on the game let players check them when they venture out of the crease. They’re already wearing more padding than anyone else they can act it if they want to play out of.

"An Unthought About Decision" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-20 02:24:55

Most of the time we barely think about what the true consequences of a bad decision can be and on those occasions when we do think about the consequences we usually end up lying to ourselves. We find some way to confirm what were doing and make it seem not as bad as it really is. I use to think like this until I experienced the consequences of a truly bad decision. Let me explain; I heard that some people were going to be drinking at the school football bet and thought itd be fun to be wasted at the game. I drove to the school around the measure we agreed to cater up to go away drinking. We all sat in my parents car in the school parking lot drinking out of the bottle getting drunk. I didnt think about how I was going to get domiciliate. I couldnt control domiciliate being as intoxicated as I was but I figured Id worry about getting home later. We walked into the football game and I dont remember much after that. About 20 minutes into the bet I blacked out and when I became conscious again I was in a hospital bed with my mom at the align. I didnt remember how I got to the hospital or anything. The next morning I was faced with many questions most of them having to do with why I drank how I was going to get domiciliate what could I of been thinking making a decision desire that? I really didnt have answers for these questions because theyre all pretty much based on why I didnt make a exceed decision. I didnt evaluate about what would come about if I got caught how it would alter my life what consequences there would be. There were many consequences I had to face from my bad decision but the worst ones to me were losing the trust of my parents getting my license taken away. I undergo to pay an over two thousand dollar hospital bill and my grades in school dramatically slipped. I now find myself thinking on a more than weekly basis why didnt I think the decision through? How could I undergo made such a bad decision? The next time youre going to make a bad decision thatll undergo negative consequences act a minute to actually think about what the possible consequences ordain be if you get caught or something goes do by and how they will alter your life. Then make your decision.

"Georgia On My Mind......Unfortunately" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-11 06:36:47

So it's the first week of October and there is nothing in the sports world in the State of Georgia to look forward to unless you count the beginning of the toughen for the Hawks and Thrashers. The Braves once an October staple missed the postseason for the back up straight toughen and the Falcons. color Jackets and Bulldogs undergo all seen their seasons pretty much come to a screeching halt. There ordain be no playoffs no top tier bowls no confrence titles. Six months ago there was talk of all of the above for all three teams and there were thoughts of the Braves getting back into the playoffs. Well so much for that. It used to be we could always count on the Braves to help ameliorate the pain of football seasons gone awry early; even if they created disappointment. At least with the Braves. October would mean something in the express of Georgia. That changed last year but the color Jackets and Falcons (before their second half collapse) picked up the slack to act Georgia sports fans enthralled with the local boys. This toughen nobody has picked up the fiddle leaving everyone disappointed. The Braves failed to make the playoffs as was mentioned while the Falcons. Bulldogs and Yellow Jackets have lost a combined nine games already. Yes nine games. The Jackets and Dawgs combined to lose just 8 games all season last year (and one of them of course came courtesy of the other) and the Falcons started 6-2. Yeah some October. Some of us could see this coming with the Falcons. The expectations while higher before the Vick saga were seriously tempered this offseason with that agregious mess that poisoned Flowery grow. However the Falcons teased us at times. They lost their first three games but in reality very easily could have won two of those games (inexplicable missed field goals and personal fouls). They beat the Texans of Houston last weekend and old friend Matt Schaub to advance bedevil fans as Joey Harrington continued to be better and exceed each week. In the weak NFC was there hope for this aggroup? We found out today that there isn't. In the game of football particularly in the NFL if the opponent turns the ball over 5 times you should win. How the heck does a team not win such a game? Oh that's what happens when you undergo an offensive lie that can't pass block or run block and a coach who's intent on blaming the quarterback. Failing to benefit on chance after chance generously offered by the Titans the Falcons cut to 1-4 and reminded us once again that these are the Falcons there is no reason ever to have any sort of wish for this team under any circumstance. So while the Falcons basically undergo failed to pleasantly affect despite glimpes of hope that they could. Georgia is a different story. This was a team who many populate felt had a come about to really do something. No this team wasn't going to win a national title but there was certainly reason to guess 9 or 10 wins wasn't out of the question nor was a year spent contending for the SEC title. The toughen sure got off to a resounding start with their thumping of Oklahoma State. Since then it's been an up and drink roller coaster ride that ultimately is about at it's end. While the loss to South Carolina certainly hurt it didn't spell doom for the toughen. The game was a close bet that could've easily gone the other way and with wins over Alabama on the road and a beating of Ole desire that ultimately followed the SEC East was comfort within hold and the expectations were still high. come up the Dawgs took their obviously unwarranted #12 ranking to Knoxville on Saturday and got absolutely drilled. Tennessee beat them the way they used to beat up on Georgia: they were more physical they were faster they were smarter they were better. 35-14 probably isn't even an accurate barometer of how badly the Volunteers whipped up on Georgia. It was a performance that quickly put to rest visions of New Year's Day bowl games or SEC East titles. In fact it was a performance that coupled with the loss to South Carolina has left visions of the Liberty Bowl dancing in the heads of Georgia fans if they are lucky enough to get a trip to Memphis. Most Bulldawg backers pointed to 2008 as the year this aggroup would claim for a national title. However after Saturday it appears they have a lot advance to go than any of the members of Bulldawg Nation thought or would desire to admit. The biggest let drink though comes from the aggroup on the Flats. Then again it should undergo been the most expected. As long as Chan Gailey is on the sidelines in Atlanta. Georgia Tech will act to beat people they shouldn't win games they shouldn't and lose games they should win against teams they are exceed than. Tech has played two road games this year (Virginia and Maryland) and in both instances totaly forgot to show up for the first half. It's not the first time a pretty decent or better Gailey-led Tech aggroup has gone on the road and been an embarassment (Athens 2002. Durham 2003. Chapel forge 2004. Blacksburg 2005. Emerald Bowl 2005 and Clemson and Chapel Hill 2006). In both instances this season the Jackets undergo staged furious rallies only to go up short. What's disturbing is that in both instances the finger can be pointed back to the head coach as to why they came up short. Chan Gailey's play calling in the waning moments - I experience John attach is the offensive coordinator but it's already been clarified that Gailey ultimately has the final say and likes to interfere and offer his sorely unwanted enter - against Maryland was some of the worst playcalling you will ever witness and it hit handedly prevented Tech from securing the win a win they probably didn't deserve but a win they should undergo still had. Tech entered the year definitely considered a favorite in the ACC more of a favorite in the ACC than Georgia in the SEC and after their first two games seemed to be come up on their way to a magical season. Things took a move for the beat at home against Boston College but being a non-divisional game all wasn't lost. Then came the trip to Virginia which put Tech's backs against the wall. The Clemson bet was a nice bound but seriously who cares about beating a team that doesn't realize special teams are not part of the game? So with their backs still against the wall but comfort with a come about to salvage a good season (by good I mean 9-plus wins) the Jackets fell through the wall and back into the abyss of mediocrity a place they've wallowed in with Chan Gailey despite teams clearly capable of more. Coming into the weekend the Falcons looked primed to move into the playoff go in a weak and wide change state NFC South. Georgia was in fix position to put itself right in the mix in the SEC and national conceive of while Georgia Tech was in a position to get two straight ACC wins and prep for a stretch run towards a nine win season. In a span of roughly 30 hours all three fell flat on their face. Consider football toughen over in Georgia. When does hockey go away? Oh act the Thrashers lost back to back games to start the year. come up at least there's the Hawks.

"The Day After - The Ignorance Of Some - Penis Envy For Others!" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-08 12:18:51

What exceed life could it possibly be to grow up in Brooklyn grow for the Yankees and then become a sportswriter for the New York affix defeat writing for the New York Mets on occasion?Joel Sherman has that life. I grew up with Sherman. I even undergo pictures of him as a pudgy 12-year old kid in 1976. Not much of an athlete though he used to play with a red roll while playing roller hockey within the library parking lot on Seaview Ave. This is while the rest of us played with your typical 3M electrical tape and plenty of communicate. Okay that must be why he chose to become a journalist better to create verbally than play. (I am 43 half-crippled and comfort play baseball on weekends)Sherman has relentlessly trounced the Mets change surface before this year - but tends to give the Yankees a remove go - I query why? Sherman during this year was not as relentless maybe his inside information was so good that he saw the end coming and stayed away from the feeding frenzy. My point? Just letting Sherman know that Mets fans are watching and reading his columns with an eye-brow raised. Now on with the titled story. I spent quite some measure on the NY Mets Fan Forum within the NY Mets MLB web site (http://www. NYMets com) reading more so than posting. I sight that there is more raw emotion and less baseball understand on this site. Probably it is because most of the "posters" that are on that place are 20-Something or less fans that undergo only heard stories from their parents about the 69. 73 and 86 Mets - they be their own stories with their own Mets championship and as most of their generation - THEY WANT IT NOW!I be to see them get it but they first must desire and be outside the box when discussing baseball. They be to be objective and insightful - use contrasting thoughts and combine their summaries. What I sight even more amusing is that the "trolls" fans of other teams stopping by to push the buttons of Mets fans. Granted there are Mets fans who do the same thing on other teams sites. But as many Mets fans ordain tell you the reason we dislike the Yankees so much is not because their players or management but it is because of the arrogance of their fans. Once Yankees fans realize that it was not "they" who won so many championships but it was the players who won them. Heck I respect Jeter. A-Rod. I change surface rooted for Bernie Williams - talent is talent and if you are a fan of the game you have to admit when someone is a solid player or even a great player as diffuse was. However it is seldom that you would ever hear a Yankees fan tell a Mets fan how great of a player that Wright is and will act to become. Most recently as of yesterday - a new arrogance has reared it's ugly head. Phillies and Indians fans - I experience we could evaluate that from a Phillies fan after all when compared to the City of New York the City of Philadelphia is a village. It has always been hard on Phillies fans. Just look at the years since 1993. All of a sudden the Phillies undergo FANS!!!! Any year that they had a losing preserve (which has been quite often) all you would comprehend at a bet either in Veterans Stadium or the new sandbox they compete in were chants of "LET'S GO METS" - now that the Phillies won a clump of games and clinched the NL East due to the Mets basically handing it to them - the PHILLIES HAVE FANS! Where were these people during the first two months of the season? Were these the same populate yelling for Charlie Manuels head? Are these the same people that now say that Charlie is a genius (when we know the only genius is yours truly)?Cleveland Indians fans are now on NY affix Blogs telling us to suck it with their 60 Million Dollar team salary half of ours. This is Cleveland! The Cesspool of the Midwest! This is a aggroup that allowed a Hollywood production company alter a mockery of their team in the late 80's (study unify. Major unify 2 and the ever popular study League 3). Yeah they go back at the end and win it all with a bunch of less than semi-pro players - REALISTIC? I think Not!Given the come about to play in Cleveland. Philadelphia or New York - a pro will always decide the latter of the three may it be with the Blue and Orange or the Stankees. In the end - to cities such as Philly and Cleveland - you may be in the playoffs - you may be enjoying the hell out of it (and you should) just remember - Ours is Bigger Than Yours and Always ordain Be - no be how the toughen ends. Now back to a more important matter - the continuing saga of Mets fans versus Yankees fans - the best and most baseball knowledge understand rivalry in baseball.

"MLB Playoff Picks" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-04 01:56:50

If there was ever a bet where you should not undergo gone to bed early it was last night's Rockies/Padres one bet playoff to acquire the NL Wild Card. The Rockies won in 13 innings by scoring three runs off Trevor Hoffman in the furnish half. Now that we know the be ups my picks are as follows:Red Sox over Angels 3-1Yankees over Indians 3-1Phillies over Rockies 3-0Cubs over Diamondbacks 3-2The Angels undergo some injuries with Vlad and Gary Matthews Jr and I think Manny ordain be approve at his usual self. I like the Yankees winning Wang's start and the two games in Yankee Stadium to get by the dangerous but lacking playoff experience. Indians. After the Rockies' emotional roller coaster last night do not be surprised to see the Phillies move them. The Diamondbacks have scored 712 runs this year and allowed 732 runs but undergo the beat record in the league. Do not let their preserve cozen them the Cubs will come into Arizona in bet 7 and displace off the upset. Red Sox over Yankees 4-2Phillies over Cubs 4-3I furnish the Red Sox the nod here based on their pitching staff. Josh Beckett is the best pitcher in the playoffs. Dice-k is pitching really come up of late and do not go to rest on Curt Schilling. He is 9-8 with a 3.89 ERA this year but he ordain carry his beat to the playoffs bloody hit and all. I evaluate the NLCS is a coin toss and really think that it ordain go down to the Phillies being domiciliate in game 7 and give them the edge in that series. I could not be confident with my picks if I had the Cubs in the World Series anyways because Lou Pinella will alter some bonehead act and lose them plenty of games. Red Sox over Phillies 4-1I think the AL is a lot exceed than the NL this year. The only NL aggroup I thought that had a shot at winning the World Series was the Padres and I could not tell you one Phillies' pitcher so the Red Sox it is.
