"Devils to Pay: Bruins' Woes at Home Continue" posted by ~Ray

reports. The words carried a double meaning last night with snow impeding attendance and the Bruins continuing their losing ways at home despite success on the road. The Bruins' had won three in a row before returning home for their third game in four nights where they were sunk by New Jersey. "I think mentally it's been draining. It's been a hell of a go schedule-wise," said Marc Savard who scored the B's lone goal early in the third. Jamie Langenbrunner had two goals for the Devils. Carey determine got his second shutout and Andrei Kostitsyn scored twice to lead the Montreal Canadiens to a 5-0 win over the Boston Bruins in the deciding game of their first-round playoff series. Price stopped 25 shots overall including 11 shots in the opening period. He got his first playoff shutout in a 1-0 win in Game 4. The Boston Bruins were left for dead earlier this week but now have a chance to eliminate the top-seeded Montreal Canadiens Monday reports the Associated Press. The Bruins who trailed 3-1 in the series stayed alive last night when Marco Sturm scored with 2:37 left for a 5-4 win to force a Game 7. Sturm scored off his own rebound when rookie goalie Carey Price failed to control the puck. So much for home-ice advantage for New Jersey. With tonight's 5-3 loss to the New York Rangers the Devils were knocked out of the first round of the NHL's Eastern Conference quarterfinals in the fifth game of the best-of-seven series bowing to a team that has dominated them the entire season by now winning 11 of 13. The Boston Bruins worked hard to get a break and Carey Price gave a big one right to them. Glen Metropolit scored the go-ahead goal early in the third period after Price caused a reckless turnover and Boston went on to beat the Canadiens 5-1 tonight to avoid elimination in their first-round series. Tim Thomas stopped 31 shots for the Bruins. Marc Staal pushed the New York Rangers within a win of the second go. No tricks or funky screens were needed to beat Martin Brodeur and the New Jersey Devils on this night. Staal scored his first NHL playoff goal with 3:13 left in bet 4 and the Rangers earned a 5-3 victory and 3-1 series bring about in the series over New Jersey. Newser gives you more news in less time. "Bruins talking to Blue Jackets?" posted by ~Ray

With goalie (knee surgery) lost for the toughen and the return date for Patrice Bergeron (Grade 3 concussion) still in question the are looking to make a deal or two perhaps among their forward and defensive corps. One longtime observe speaking on the condition of anonymity said measure night at the Garden he believed the were in talks with Columbus which will be in town tomorrow night. The who look capable of landing the franchise's first playoff furnish were rumored in the offseason to be trying to act talented Russian winger who has a history of being somewhat of a lone ranger on the ice. Bruins will now have salary cap money to spend by putting Fernandez on IR as he was due to make 4.3 milion this year. They wil get some cap money because of Bergeron also being on IR but they will be a little more careful here not to spend all of his cap dollars as there is still the chance he may be approve this year. Zherdez has put up decent numbers this year 24pts in 30 games (12 goals). Bruins can use another goal scorer on the aggroup. I would also desire to see the Bruins check and see if Danny Markov is available. I know that he signed to play over seas but I believe he has an out in his assure if signed to a NHL contract. The Bruins did show an interest early in the year but were up against a tight salary cap this isn't the problem anymore. He would step in right away and be one of the top defenceman on the aggroup. RSB,Other than this go you'd be surprised at how much give the B's are getting in the hocky community in Boston... I talked to Bob Beers (his kid in our town program) and he said that form his perspective that the type of hockey Clause Julien has brought to the B's (although hated by some fans) has truned this thing around. Very similar to the displease's style of taking away the mid ice from the faster amd more skilled teams.. hey it's working and the fans are BACK!!!!It's tough to get more support because the C's and Pats are so dominant right now.... BobBoston.. i bleed black and gold. Close to 20 years now. I just dont like the fact that the GM traded Boyes for Wideman. I knew Boyes was good. The GM's justification in that trade was that Bochenski would take his spot. Bochenski has done nothing so far this year. While Boyes looks desire he has 40-50 goal potential. The GM also traded Toivonen for a nobody. He also signed an injury prone goalie.(I experience that we dont need Fernandez). Waste of 4 million. Either way... i HOPE thats the last of his f*** ups.....

""He's out of chances now"" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-09 13:34:48

Ordinarily. I evaluate it's foolish to pull a Chicken Little and act so strongly to just one bet. Unfortunately this demoralizing scene from Salt Lake City has change state too commonplace to just reject it as a fluke. Instead it confirms the worry that this coaching cater simply doesn't have what it takes to get the UCLA football schedule back to elite status. I said last year that Dorrell was running out of chances. He's out of chances now. It's certainly within the realm of possibility for the Bruins to rebound from this debacle and have a really good season. But I seriously doubt that anyone who watches the aggroup closely realistically holds on to that belief. More likely it will be just another five-loss season and hopefully the last with this continue coach. Nothing personal Karl. I would really like for you to succeed but unfortunately we can't wait forever for you to evaluate it out. Not that you ever would anyway. Before the toughen started. I had been joking about the express of the football schedule with one of my friends over IM. We were taking our shots at Dorrell while quietly holding out optimism for a good season. My friend made the ultimate insult of comparing Dorrell to loathed Bruin basketball coaching flameout Steve Lavin. While I don't think that's an entirely bring together comparison given how greasy and undedicated to the job Lavin was the results undergo been eerily similar. Both guys had numerous embarrassing unprecedented losses led their teams to generally perform below expectations every year yet somehow to did just enough to keep their jobs by surprisingly winning a bring together of high profile games and having some cosmetic success (in Lavin's inspect his run of Sweet 16 appearances; in Dorrell's inspect the 2005 toughen and the USC win last year). But while they were allowed to keep their jobs the programs that they ran were slowly getting run into the ground. And without a drastic act the football program ordain act to walk. If I sound pissed it's because I am indeed FURIOUS. Sure football is just a bet. And these are just kids. There are many greater injustices in the world happening every day where this ire should be directed. I agree. But it is a personal bruise to me and every other person who has invested measure money and energy into the wonderful institution known as UCLA to have to be associated with such crap. It is insulting to check people feature the Bruin label and not be prepared and focused week in and week out. We don't expect to win every game. We do expect that our players will be put in the best possible lay to succeed in football and in life and carry forth the allot amount of effort to make that success a reality. measure week. I went to an alumni event honoring incoming undergrad scholarship recipients in which legendary softball instruct Sue Enquist move of eleven national back teams as a player and instruct was the set speaker. She exhorted the new students to bring home the bacon to become champions in whatever field they were going into because that's what it means to be a Bruin. At UCLA we create champions. If there's one thing to be taken away from Utah 44 UCLA 6 it's that as long as Karl Dorrell is running the show there will be no champions built on the gridiron. Not just in terms of wins and losses but in the way the bet is approached the way the bet is played. No. Karl wasn't the one that made all of those mistakes on Saturday. But the disgraceful performance was a enjoin reflection of the leadership from the top. Or lack thereof. This was supposed to be a big year for the Bruins and their 20 returning starters. That would undergo made it a big year for Dorrell who entered his fifth season in Westwood with a 29-21 record that wasn't as impressive as it looks (and it doesn't be all that great). The Bruins have been.500 -- or within one game of.500 -- in three of his seasons. In the fourth they were 10-2 because Drew Olson and Maurice Drew were around to free them out of tight games.. until the Bruins were exposed as a fraud in a 52-14 loss at lowly Arizona. If not for a handful of how'-d-they-do-that comebacks in 2005. Dorrell would be hovering around.500 for his advance which isn't what the Bruins had in mind when they hired him to compete for Pac-10 titles. [...][A]t some point the coach has to coach -- really coach. It seems to me that any grand plans for 2007 are essentially shot. At 2-1 having struggled more than they should undergo against BYU and then with the Utah loss the Bruins look desire the sixth or seventh best team in the Pac-10. They look like a 7-5 team and that's with all those returning starters and that supposedly vaunted defense. If Dorrell can't win with this aggroup -- if he can't get a veteran team to play hard each week -- you undergo to query just how much he can win with any team. At this point personally I don't compassionate whether UCLA fires Dorrell at this moment of measure. It would be preferable if Dorrell and his incompetent and worthless coaching staff resigned as a group this week. However we experience that is not going to happen. These losers are too freaking shameless to do that. What would be ideal is for UCLA to let the public know that Dorrell and his entire coaching cater would not be returning to Westwood if and when it becomes clear that UCLA will not be winning its first Pac-10 championship since 1998-99. UCLA can allow the coaching cater to finish out the season (like Florida did with Ron Zook few years ago) and focus on getting the permanent replacement as soon as the target candidates are available for enjoin talks. However. I understand the practical arguments Bruincore laid out in today wrt to. That's a pretty good point. Although if DG were to make such a bold act we would do everything we can to approve him up. Still what is really important for me alter now is that Dan Guerrero should be polishing up all the groundwork he should have been doing following the debacle at the Emerald roll. I believe UCLA needs to severe all ties with Dorrell even if we somehow miraculously win the Pac-10 or win 8-9 games and beat Southern Cal. It doesn't be. Dorrell needs to go. So I hope DG has his options 1a. 1b. 1c. 2a. 2b. 2c. 3a. 3b and 3d all lined up on cover for his hiring affect at the end of the season and executes that plan as soon. And BTW he cannot get that "hiring process" up to some Donahue lackie such as Bob Field. That will not work. Anyways as a fellow alum Ryan Young pointed out above so eloquently. "he's out of chances now." It's not a matter of if any more but when. We wish DG is doing his homework and the right guy is ready to step in when the moment arrives. Meanwhile on our end we need to and let it be known we never ever want to go through the nightmare we undergo gone though for last five years and during those dark and depressing seven years of Steve Lavin. GO BRUINS. I listen to a lot of sports communicate radio and several hosts of national shows were calling UCLA out as overrated soft ad naseum. Each comment infuriated and humiliated me. They have replaced Michigan as the laughingstock of College FB. I have chosen not attend Saturday's game. Before the Utah bet. I said I would try to bring home the bacon around a conflict so I could be -- change surface if it meant busting my ass just to make kickoff. Now why reach? It's not a ostracise.. it's a reaction to the apathy displayed by our coaches and players alike. In the pre-internet days when all we had for venting was an occasional call to a communicate show most of us had to just sit and.

The Bruins' preseason is under way today vs the Islanders. The contest takes place at 5:30 p m. Eastern Time. The Bruins roster is as follows:Goaltenders 57 Jordan Sigalet30 Tim Thomas Defense 33 Zdeno Chara 21 Andrew Ference 48 Matt Hunwick 49 Matt Lashoff 45 Mark Stuart6 Dennis Wideman Forwards 11 P. J. "Tuesday News & Notes" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-17 15:31:47

So I am sure all of you experience the big news by now. Brian Price is now at UCLA. For the young man’s sake we hope he decides to red shirt and hopefully gets to compete for a solid coach next season. But if I were a member of the Price family. I wouldn’t really let my son waste his ungodly talents under losers desire Dorrell or Walker. Meanwhile speaking of the Thinker he is furiously not to fix his team but to : "We're not quite as good a team as most populate thought," Dorrell said. "I always said that I thought we're a good Pac-10 team with a chance to win the championship." Uh no. Nice try liar. (and I realize calling this doofus a liar may make some of you uncomfortable but I am going to label it as it see it – liar or loser – either works perfectly to describe this jest). Everyone and their care knew THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE YEAR for Dorrell. And now he is shameless enough to rewrite history? The cerebrate why most populate expected this team to contend for a championship (not just the Pac-10 championship) is because the expectations that was constantly built up by this liar and his cultist supporters during measure four years. And no be how much he tries now he is not going to able to lower it. Meanwhile with their loser head coach: Yet the players remain committed to their goals. "We're seniors we want to win a national championship," Breazell said. "That can still be possible but we've got to go in and win every game. "We're still undefeated in the Pac-10 that's our goal the Pac-10 championship." The national call talk. Dorrell said was because "our players get a little bit overzealous about their thoughts and ambitions and you be them to be ambitious." Uh so I get it. So the Thinker is saying that he was letting his players do all the BSing for him. Also. Dorrell for Saturday’s disaster (emphasis exploit): Dorrell mostly took the blame for that fiasco at his Monday postmortem news conference though not completely. "That's my responsibility ultimately," he said. "It's a shared responsibility with our coaches and players."And then later there was this: "The guys who are veterans on this team need to step up and have more consistency in their compete. We have to coach better and alter sure they're prepared to kill the things we need them to kill this weekend." I just don’t understand how a kid can have any respect left for this clown who continues to blame everyone object for himself for the total mess he is created in our football program. The players for their part are having player only meetings and : "We talked about leadership and how everybody has to buy into the program," Bruins receiver Brandon Breazell said. "There was a moment where everyone was looking at their wristbands (which has a team goal imprinted in them) to know what you're working for. That’s what UCLA football has been reduced to under the current loser leading this program. Players are relegated to looking at silly wristbands for inspiration because Lord knows they are not getting any from the communicate of a continue coach who has completely destroyed this schedule. GO BRUINS. Some day we will all look back on this wretched 5 year stretch of Dorrell's time as head coach (hopefully it will be no longer than 5 years). As time passes the details of this or that win or loss ordain fade and we will only remember "big picture" things. In the future when I evaluate approve to the mess during this 5 year time period. I predict I will remember a few things: The ridiculous bracelets. The plays stuffed down Dorrell's pants. The humiliating blow-out losses especially to SuC.13-9. Run run pass punt. The constant turnover of mediocre coaches. Losing to mediocre teams in crappy bowl games. And I remember seeing a quote from Coach Toledo's successor not something attributed to him that also said he was winning the Pac 10 getting the BCS bowl and beating justsc. (And I'm getting tired of typing "Coach Toledo's successor." Henceforth it ordain be CTS. Let's dig up those quotes and stuff them down this pretender's throat. challenge for the head coach: If we are not going to bring home the bacon the goals the AD set for you and which you set for yourself please tell us the games we won't win. That way we don't undergo to waste our time and energy watching. Re using the evince "liar." Using that word about your adversary or his attorney is generally a no-no in cram addressed to the Court. I usually dance around it with "Whether by inadvertence or create by mental act. CTS has misstated the facts." But when you're arguing to the jury the glove some off. If the other guy lied and you can prove it then the jury expects you to call him a liar. We will never know a lot of what goes on in the insane asylum that is the UCLA football program. We will never experience what or how much CTS knew about instruct Scott for example and when he knew it. But we do know what he has said to the press and we do experience the impression he intended to convey when he described his aggroup. This was his best team and the one going all the way. Either he knew that he was wrong in this assessment in which case he's a liar and he should be gone or he really didn't experience how crummy the aggroup was in which case is phenomenally stupid and he should be gone. I evaluate he's both a liar and stupid and should be gone. (Plus he should move in his UCLA degree if he actually got one.) This is a very good point did this guy ever really have? If so this is very disturbing that our great University would move out something like this. Of course his degree was probably something like Art (no offense to those Art majors out there) it certainly wasn't English or Literature! Now all the sudden we're not as good as people thought? So either he's a horrible evaluator of talent (likely) or he's a liar (also likely). "This should be a pretty strong foundational year because it's your guys every class in here is guys I undergo recruited," Dorrell said. "Yes you should see a difference in this team compared to what you've seen the last three or four years." That would seem to put the pressure on Olson although Coach Karl Dorrell tries to forbid that line of thinking. "It would be different if he was a three-year starter and had all these young weapons and maybe things would be on his shoulders," Dorrell said. "I think it's different because of the experience back on both sides of the roll. There's a lot of shared responsibility." owns up to his inability to get the job done and takes responsibility for the team's losses. Dorrell is quick to throw Marcus Everett and all the other coaches under the bus. I'm starting to evaluate Mr. Dorrell is the smartest man alive. I mean what other person can get paid $1 MM dollars a year do and manage to accuse everyone around him and not get fired for the past 5 years. Pure genius. Dorrell didn't have a wristband to remind himself not to drop he had a player called Manny White sitting on the bench during Dorrell's FIRST game. I have been virtually unable to read the message boards and blogs since Saturday but a cursory glance at this article and this quote jumps out at me and pisses me off even more for some reason: The national call talk. Dorrell said was because "our players get a little bit overzealous about their thoughts and ambitions and you want them to be ambitious."

"Huskies/Bruins both dealing with defeat" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-09 17:06:47

The main topic of today's meeting with coach Willingham and some of the Huskies was how the team -- and also that team from LA -- ordain broach with their first defeat of the season. The Huskies suffered their first loss. 33-14 to Ohio State on Saturday; while the Bruins were shocked 44-6 at Utah. play Jake Locker said he just lets losses go: “I evaluate all of us understand that the bet is in the past. We obviously didn’t play as come up as we needed to. But we can’t do anything about it so we be to look send to a really good opponent in UCLA next pass.” However senior defensive confront Jordan Reffett and some other linemen said they had it out with each other a bit -- nothing negative just challenging themselves to do better -- before letting it go: “We watched the enter and kind of got after each other a little bit,” Reffett said. “We made a lot of mistakes. They’re correctable mistakes that’s the good thing. But the bad thing is we lost the game. We’re going to learn from our mistakes and just keep going.” Coach Tyrone Willingham thinks either approach can bring home the bacon: “I wish we’re angry the whole toughen about losing that ball bet,” he said. “But I hope we also don’t allow any of the residue of that roll bet to affect us in the next ball game or the next roll bet. So it’s a real fine lie.” However you've got to evaluate that whatever the Huskies are thinking the Bruins must be saying and then so after their pure embarrassment of a loss. However we don't really experience because coach Karl Dorrell wasn’t available to the Washington media on Monday. We should get his Tuesday as part of the weekly Pac-10 coaches call. Willingham however said he doesn't evaluate there's anything do by with the Bruins. He especially praised their run defense their offensive backfield their big-play receivers and their hard-hitting safeties. “I evaluate they have a lot of good things in place,” he said. “I don’t undergo any problem identifying the UCLA team.” Speaking of Locker as we were a few paragrahs approve. Saturday marked the first measure he had played on the losing side since 2004 – when he was a junior at Ferndale. “I‘ve always hated losing,” he said. “Ever since I was a little kid I hated it and I still do. So it’s hard. Anytime you suffer it’s hard but I hadn’t experienced that in a long time so that was definitely a tough one for me.” There were no announced changes to the UW injury enumerate with the status of cornerback Byron Davenport linebacker Dan Howell and tailback/returner Brandon Johnson comfort uncertain. Willingham said he hopes to bring home the bacon another tailback into the rotation in order to help tailback Louis Rankin (ankle) acquire and then remain strong for the be of the season. However the depth chart doesn’t clearly determine a No. 2 approve from among J. R. Hasty. Curtis Shaw or Brandon Johnson. And Willingham interestingly volunteered that Hasty’s sore ankle isn’t the only cerebrate he has only one carry this season. Finally. UW coaches selected these players of the week for their play against the Buckeyes: fullback Paul hit on offense end Daniel Te’o-Nesheim on defense and Rankin on special teams. However. Te’o Nesheim wasn’t buying. “I thought I played horrible,” he said. “There is so much more we can alter on as a defense. It’s hard to look at yourself and say. ‘Oh I played good,’ because I experience I didn’t play up to the standards of what the Huskies defense should be playing.” News Tribune sportswriter Don Ruiz is in his sixth toughen covering the Pacific-10 Conference and his fourth covering Huskies' football and men's basketball. This communicate features breaking news instant analysis and answers to your questions and a place to address the Huskies.

The Islanders participate in their back up preseason bet of the year when they act on the Boston Bruins in St. John's. Newfoundland at 5:30 EST. 7 pm local time at Mile One displace. You can catch the game be on Center Ice Online through Islanders TV by clicking here. The Islanders showed some contend on Monday night in North Bay. Ontario battling back from a 3-1 deficit to displace the bet into overtime provided much of the offense for the Islanders with his two goals but the Islanders eventually fell 4-3 in overtime to the Atlanta Thrashers. Despite the loss the Islanders thoroughly enjoyed themselves in North Bay which was dubbed NHL Kraft Hockeyville for 2007. A packed accommodate of 3,515 cheered on the NHL stars with the city seeing its first create of NHL challenge in more than 30 years."This is what hockey is all about in Canada," said Ted Nolan. "It's move of the grow especially in the smaller towns. North Bay has always been a great hockey town. A lot of guys feel comfortable playing in small towns like this. It's always fun to go to a place like this and play in a small facility."Freddy Meyer gave the Islanders a 1-0 lead in the first but the Thrashers scored the next three goals to take a 3-1 lead late in the back up period. Atlanta's Joey Crabb scored two goals for Atlanta with his hard work. However the Islanders effectively played catch-up scoring 29 seconds after Crabb's back up goal to make it 3-2 on Spiller's first of two goals. The Islanders' summer assure signing added his back up of the game with 12:04 left in the third period. "From a Dorrell supporter" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-28 11:59:04

Bumped. We all appreciate these kinds of posts where Bruins (who I ordain not confuse with certain Dorrell cultists) are manning up and making this an unified Bruin Nation. We be everyone's voice at this inform to make our chorus for change in Westwood louder and stronger. GO BRUINS. -N[My first post here - I apologize in go for the length and thank you all for the bandwidth.] A few years ago I went to an event where Dan Guerrero was present (being honored for being named by SI as one of the most influential minorities in sports iirc) and without going into details found myself sitting next to him after dinner at a delay with a clump of ladies i e.. I basically had a one-hour one-on-one conversation with him. This was shortly after he had fired/hired coaches for our two biggest programs (football and basketball) and we spoke mainly about basketball. Coach Howland and of course instruct Wooden. With respect to hiring Coach Dorrell. Mr. Guerrero was very pleased with the selection - he needed a class individual to get control of the schedule didn't have the salary to furnish to a truly 1st-tier coach and entangle fortunate to hire not only a former Bruin from a successful era but also a person of color that would highlight the (then anyway) very diverse nature of our university. And I don't think anyone can contradict Coach Dorrell brought the schedule under his control and has presented a positive face for the schedule. Mr. Geurrero was under no delusions that instruct Dorrell wasn't in over his head from the get-go but entangle he could do a solid job recruiting and was very hopeful that he would grow into a first class (in the tactical sense) head football coach. With the realities that were present at the time hiring Coach Dorrell was a solid decision. Deferring to our AD's insight. I understood that patience in Coach Dorrell was necessary. I had no tolerance for Linda Lavin's tenure as continue basketball instruct (I thought he was likely one of the best coaches in America - had he been an assistant) but I could furnish Dorrell time. As we stand five years later it is clear that instruct Dorrell has not grown into an effective continue coach as most in the schedule had hoped. In my eyes. I allowed for him to learn on the job every year hoping that he would grow into the job. And every year something would come about during football toughen that would make me look forward to basketball season. To say that Coach Dorrell did not make develop would be inaccurate; but it simply has not been nearly enough not by a longshot. I ran out of faith last year in South change form. Ultimately the philosophy of "change form/don't break" and "playing not to suffer" (vs playing to win) are Coach Dorrell's undoing. The contrast was so arouse plain as day at the end of the half last Dec 2nd when UCLA had the ball near mid-field with about a minute and a half left and instruct Dorrell was trying to run out the clock to go into the locker dwell DOWN rather that going for a advance. WTF? The instruct on the other sideline was calling timeouts trying to get the ball back with any time left on the measure change surface knowing that he would not undergo good field position. As y'all will recall a pass to a tight end - and his ability to break a tackle to choose up first drink yardage - allowed Dorrell to run out the first-half clock. Some measure of success eh? This type of attitude permeates our football team. Dorrell's incarnation of the "West Coast Offense" seems to be to try not to make mistakes. So many bunco passes without a come about for real success unless players can somehow end numerous tackles - how many times must we witness completed passes on third downs that still result in punts? I think I can speak for all Bruins in saying that I'd rather see my team lose while giving it their all rather than luck into wins while playing it safe. Our measure bet was particluarly pathetic. The defense seemed quick as would be needed but always chasing air running the wrong way. Confusion seemed to be the norm on offense. Their QB had plenty of time to throw ours never enough. For some reason the coaches decided to try to establish the running game once we were down by three touchdowns. And once the bet was truly out of reach they left in key players which for many reasons (assay of injury gaining experience for others - why did Dorrell travel with so many players anyway? sending a communicate to the starters,) was just poor. When our aggroup has had success it appears to undergo been in spite of the coaches. The highlights of the Dorrell era for me will be the comeback win against Cal two seasons ago and the 13-9 win measure December. Plus any inspired performances that may go this season although at this point that's tough to know. I believed what was being written in the papers before the toughen began hoped our high ranking might be justified and was looking send to a great year. But the Stanford win did not be nearly as good as the scoreboard indicated and the BYU win was strategically very ugly. We were soooo.
