"Brodeur NHL's second star" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-11-13 12:29:40

From the clubhouse to the diamond. Pete Caldera on everything you want to know about the Yankees Andrew Gross goes off The Record to discuss all things Blueshirt from line changes to trade rumors. The buzz the chatter and the news from Rutgers Stadium and the RAC -- and everywhere in between. Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur was named the NHL's second star for the weeking ending Dec. 2 today after going 3-0 with a 1.30 goals-against average and.945 save percentage. Brodeur posted his 94rh career shutout in Friday's 4-0 win over Montreal tying him with George Hainsworth for second place on the NHL's all-time list. Vancouver goaltender Roberto Luongo was named the first star for going 2-1 with two shutouts a 0.67 goals-against average and.976 save percentage. Minnesota goaltender Niklas Backstrom earned the third star for going 3-0 with a 1.32 goals-against average and.969 save percentage and helping the Wild take over first place in the Northwest Division. Good for Marty he's kept us in a few during the streak. Luongo was unbelievable this week. 198ish minutes without giving up a goal. His numbers are just out of this world. I seriously want to see Luongo play with normal sized pads. It would settle once and for all whether those giant sized pads are whats boosting his numbers.

"Brodeur and the New-Look Devils Take Over Atlantic Division" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-09-27 02:30:53

The Devils have a new look after losing Scott Gomez and Brian Rafalski but Matt Marchesky explains why they ordain be one of the teams to look out for in the East as we enter the heart of the NHL season. At the beginning of the toughen everything was changing in the city of Newark. Long-time leaders Scott Gomez and Brian Rafalski were leaving for bigger merchandise teams while fresh faces Dainius Zubrus and Vitali Vishnevski were learning their way around the Devils’ new venue the Prudential Center. After losing 12 of their first 19 games it looked as though they would be a mediocre team this year. Well don’t look now but the New Jersey Devils are starting to heat up. With hall of fame goaltender Martin Brodeur in net the Devils have gone 10-0-1 in their last 11 games the only loss coming in overtime on the road against the Rangers. After signing a six-year extension with fellow Devils Patrik Elias and Paul Martin third-year phenom Zach Parise has posted 33 points in the first 31 games. Forwards Brian Gionta. Dainius Zubrus and Jay Pandolfo undergo all played well and made significant contributions to a team that is trying to form a new identity this year. When the season began in October. New Jersey’s first nine games were on the road—a stretch during which they went 3-5-1. However they hung tough and have now risen to the two point lead over the Rangers in the Atlantic Division. Now that we’ve reached the middle of December. New Jersey’s schedule becomes much more favorable with 21 of their next 31 games at home. New Jersey was 52-21-9 in the last two years at home but that was at Continental Airlines Arena. If they can adapt to their new surroundings and play like they did at their old home this should prove to be a stretch of the season where they begin to distance themselves from the actual mediocre teams in the East. "Sutter Rest Brodeur... Weekes to Start Tonight" posted by ~Ray

NJ Devils keep back goaltender got the nod from continue coach Brent Sutter this morning indicating that he will be starting tonight's oppose against Washington this came as no affect. Weekes has been an efficient backup to but has not started in nearly a month. Let’s not drop that the Devils were beginning to overcome their first month woes with a nine-game unbeaten move in November and there was no reason to remove. At 2-0-1 with a.930SV%. Weekes is definitely one of the exceed backups in the league even with only four appearances to his name. I am confident in Sutter’s decision to start Weekes tonight especially with the Devils playing three games in four days. It’s a great measure to give Marty a rest after a stressful game against the Rangers the previous night. Marty will most likely be in net for Thursday’s road oppose at Boston which culminates the team’s three-game road trip. There is a slight possibility to see Weekes on Saturday's one-dollar hot dogs and soda promotion against Phoenix considering that it’s a day game at domiciliate and the Devils host Atlantic Division rival Philadelphia the following night. "Demain, dès l'aube..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-15 15:13:24

. we'll all be waiting for the delivery of the controversial Mitchell Report several hundred pages of bear witness accumulated over the last 20 months despite the stonewalling of the MLBPA and its minions. At 2 p m tomorrow it is expected that a list of somewhere between 50 and 80 players will be presented to the media including some of the game's top names. Tell us something we don't know. If Mitchell has managed to take full advantage of the reported independence of his investigation this will truly be an impressive feat. From the get-go Mitchell was dogged by accusations of partiality due to his connection to the Red Sox and his supposed possession of Bud Selig's favor. Even more impressive would be if the reported recommendation of independent outsourcing of baseball's drug testing were to be taken into consideration or put into place at some point in future collective bargaining agreements. Unfortunately the likelihood of that happening is marginal. The MLBPA had nothing to do with Mitchell's appointment or any part of the investigation for that matter. Their primary interest being to protect the players' rights the Players' Association would likely barricade any realistic route to legitimate testing. It's no stretch to imagine the commissioner's office attempting to push through independent testing the MLBPA refusing and threatening a strike and then MLB deciding to consider some watered-down pointless clause that keeps the peace mollifies the most simple-minded proponents of testing and makes sure the cash forge keeps moving. In fact the only guaranteed prove of this whole fiasco is great headlines as reporters and columnists everywhere ordain now have something to displace them through the Christmas lull and into the run-up to pitchers and catchers. The saddest move is that its all at that expense of the players whose names will be buried in the mud. Punishments will be handed down from on high for old offenses and victims of the system will be tarred and feathered in all of our varied multimedia town squares. Part of me can't act to see the report but there's definitely comfort a part of me that wants to conceal my head in the sand and keep whatever false perception of the game's sanctity I still hold onto.

Brodeur's four shootout stops included this glove save on Dany Heatley newjerseydevils com – On a different night the show might have belonged to. But with history in reach owned the re-create. This week's "15 to Remember" on FOX Sports Net New York (Wednesday. 8 p m.) takes fans approve to April 3 for the Devils' 2-1 shootout win over the Ottawa Senators. Brodeur made 22 saves and stopped four of six shootout attempts to post his 47th win and tie Bernie Parent's 33-year-old record for single-season victories. Madden scored New Jersey's lone goal in regulation then registered the deciding shootout tally against Ottawa goaltender Ray Emery as the Devils tied a certify record with their 48th win of the season."It's amazing. I never thought I would be able to get that far into the wins in a season," Brodeur said. "I've met Bernie and through the years I got to appreciate how hard it is to get to that 47 plateau. Even with the shootouts it's still a lot of wins and you have to play a lot of games." The Devils moved to within one point of clinching the Atlantic Division and Brodeur to within one win of eclipsing a mark that had stood since 1974."I think it's a tremendous accomplishment what this young man has done this toughen and throughout his whole career," Devils CEO/President/GM Lou Lamoriello said of Brodeur. "Talk About Timing" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-09 17:07:24

This is the way it goes alter? The Red Sox go into Yankee Stadium with an eight game bring about in the American unify East get swept away in three games scoring only six runs in response to the Yankees' fourteen and then give up nine more in a home loss to the Orioles? What's more. Manny Ramirez is out with that phantom of phantom injuries the strained oblique. David Ortiz is still hurting. J. D. Drew (despite miserable production) leaves the bet with a bad foot and his replacement Bobby Kielty is nursing an injury as come up. Timing is certainly everything. First of all let's get one thing alter: the sky is not falling. Yet. The Sox comfort have a five bet lead thanks to Tampa Bay's absolute pounding of New York. 9-1. In my opinion they comfort undergo the beat pitching cater in the AL East at the very least regardless their recent preserve. Their offense though strangely change intensity can still put together some runs but they really need to start coming out of their funk. My solution? go away at the top. It has to go away with Terry Francona. Nobody was more upset than I was over the whole "Shirtgate" incident at the Stadium this week but sob stories aside. Francona needs a stern talking to. His lineup use is absolutely awful and has been all toughen. Any fan worth their flavor can tell you that Coco Crisp and Julio Lugo should never be put north of the sixth sight in the request yet Francona valuing the go of both players manages to consistently do by their lack of on-base ability and place them up top from time to time. J. D. Drew for his move shouldn't be in the game with as much consistency as he has been lately. Against Andy Pettitte a soft-tossing lefty. I would have much preferred Kielty's right-handed swing to Drew's desire loopy (albeit beautiful) left-handed one. This has really got to stop. Find a lineup that works and fasten with it with only minor alterations. Keep Youkilis and Pedroia up top in lie of Ortiz and Ramirez (when he can play) and just broach end of story. The interesting thing about all these injuries is that they're hitting just as the rosters grow for September meaning Jacoby Ellsbury and his pals will hopefully be seeing more playing measure. For my move. I'd like to see Ellsbury in centerfield. Crisp put in left and then keep Kielty in alter (assuming Drew takes a few days off). I think that would accept for Coco to get a little bit of a end by playing in lie of the Wall and give Ellsbury a chance to show off his chops just a bit more. In Pawtucket this year Jacoby has managed to affix.298/.360/.380. His cater is disappointing to be sure but he's a player with just enough guts and brains to alter a difference in the injury-ridden interim. Let's wish we can just plug the holes in the lineup long enough to get our heavy hitters hitting again.

"Brodeur and Vezina?" posted by ~Ray

Could someone list me Martin Brodeur's success from Vezina-trophys inform of view? I experience when he won Vezinas but I'm looking for other years. Having even a enumerate of top-3 years (others than 03. 04. 07 wins) would alone back up a lot. I know he finished back up in voting in 96-97. 97-98 and 05-06 (and won of cover in 02-03. 03-04 and 06-07). There was another year where he was third but I'm not sure what year. __________________"Winning is everything. It's not how you play.
