"Best Goalie So Far" posted by ~Ray

So far this season. I undergo picked (though that pick is no longer likely correct) and. It is time to look at the goaltenders. The beat goalie so far this year has been Martin Biron of the Philadelphia Flyers. He is the main reason this aggroup which finished measure in the league last toughen is off to a good 6-2 go away which puts them first in their division. So far this year. Biron has a.945 saves percentage and a 1.88 GAA and has been credited with all six Flyer wins. Last season the Flyers used five different goalies (Antero Niittymaki. Robert Esche. Michael Leighton. Martin Houle and Martin Biron - but Biron only played 16 games for them as he was acquired from cow during the toughen). They had a aggroup saves percentage of.892 which is bad. Biron this season is allowing nearly half the shots on goal that the Flyer team allows to become goals compared to the team rate last year. If you can shrink your goals against by almost half of course you will see a big improvement in the standings. Philadelphia is still allowing about eight shots a game more than they are taking themselves. That is bad news. The tam is not nearly as improved as their position in the standings would show. Almost all of the improvement comes from the better goaltending of Martin Biron. If Biron can keep up this extraordinary level of compete. Philadelphia will have a book season. Biron ordain win the Vezina and likely the Hart Trophies. However there is no bear witness over the cover of his career to date to make us believe he is capable of maintaining this level of play over an entire toughen. He has been an acceptable starting goalie in the past while in Buffalo (though he eventually lost his job to Ryan Miller). He was not the kind of goalie who played in all feature games or challenged for Vezina Trophies but he was solid. That is the kind of goaltending Philadelphia should expect from Biron the rest of the way. Unfortunately given the way the rest of the team is playing so far that will not be good enough. Philadelphia ordain not maintain their lay atop the Atlantic Division without a exceed defence and possibly more scoring. Their goaltending which has so far been outstanding is not likely to keep that level all year. However as long as it does. Martin Biron will likely be playing as the beat goalie in the NHL so far this season.

"Some of My Favorite Goalie Masks" posted by ~Ray

Benedict used his make-shift mask only twice saying it affected his vision before ditching it. Plante decided he needed the protection when he took a shot off the face needing stitches. He came back with a mask that he practiced with. There in is the birth of the goalie mask. "This season looks interesting..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-12 17:32:35

I went to the NMU Wildcat home hockey game today. Sure it was only an exhibition against the University of Toronto (CA) Varsity Blues but when your aggroup goes to town and lays the smack drink on their blue-clad asses by the score of 8-0 you tend to look send to the toughen with a bit of hope. Especially since last year was enough to alter even the most veteran puck fan cry. NMU pulled off two goals in maybe ten seconds. Hell. I had to ask if any measure actually elapsed from the measure at the bet. Now that I've looked online to find it. NMU scored two goals six seconds apart. Yes six seconds! No wonder I had to ask. That's a mere blip of time in a 60-minute bet a mere two one thousandths of the game. I'll also admit that this wasn't the cleanest hockey bet I've ever had the pleasure of seeing. It seemed like every time one turned around there was a guy in the box from at least one of the teams. Considering that between the two teams there were 26 penalties for 68 minutes one of which being a 5 minute major (go across checking from behind) and a bet act yeah.. you know what I convey. NMU change surface ended the bet with 2 men in the box. A 5-on-3 situation for the measure 1:20 of regulation.. to be put in this situation most hockey fans experience means that the team with the 2 man advantage most times will score a goal. WHY Toronto couldn't benefit on this. I do not know. Also something that came up... Toronto's sieve er goalie let in eight goals. Why wouldn't the coach switch him with the other goalie who was fully dressed on the remove? I mean how many different times/ways do the fans undergo to ask for a different goalie? (displace your Martin. Pull your goalie etc.) It also looks desire Brian Stewart is the starting goalie this year with Derek Janzen his backup/other starting goalie. Not a major surprise that two sophomores would share goal-tending duties. What does surprise me however is the lack of the captain's C on any of the NMU jerseys. Sure there's two assistant head A's on the ice (sophomores T. J. Miller and Bill Smith) but comfort.. why no captain C?... By the way does anyone notice a turn this year? Sophomore starting goalies and sophomore assistant captains? But considering there's 17 freshman and sophomores on this year's hockey roster. I shouldn't be surprised that the turn this year is heading toward the younger majority of the roster. Being a fan. I guess I understand the love the control of the hardcore fans sitting in the stands. I more than understand it actually. I be it every domiciliate bet. While the players get the adrenaline excite from stepping on the ice and fighting for the goals the fans are the ones showing those players the support that help them fight harder. And when you get all the fans to bind together and alter life hell for the opposing players? That is what really makes the fans the reason a home arena/stadium/field a formidable displace. The cull Events Center is nasty enough when it's only at a quarter of its capacity. Imagine how formidable it ordain be when it's beat to the feature. I don't need to imagine. I've seen it. And it is good! Not to neglect my other color and gold team the color Bay Packers. They're currently playing the Chicago Bears. Now don't let the teams cozen you. This will be a great game to watch. The Bears and the Packers are the longest storied rivalry in the NFL. So it is always going to be a great bet when the two meet up. I'll be glad to see my Packers play.
