"Lucic goal leads Boston to 5-3 win over Atlanta" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-11-13 12:30:45

ATLANTA - The Boston Bruins usually get off to a good start. This time they also finished strong. Milan Lucic scored the go-ahead goal off a rebound with 3:47 remaining and Alex Auld won his third straight start leading the Bruins to a 5-3 victory over the Atlanta Thrashers last night. Mark Recchi scored twice in his first game with Atlanta and Ilya Kovalchuk added his NHL-leading 24th goal as the Thrashers overcame an early 2-0 deficit. But Lucic scored his second career goal with pure hustle in a 3-3 game. After getting taken down at center ice by Bobby Holik leading to a delayed penalty against the Thrashers. Lucic got up and headed for the Atlanta net. Johan Hedberg knocked down Phil Kessel's shot with the blocker but lost sight of the puck as it fell in the crease. Lucic at the side of the net knocked it inside the post before the Thrashers defense could react."I was calling for the puck," Lucic said. "(Kessel) put it right into the office and I put it home."Boston one of the league's best-starting teams with a plus-nine scoring edge in the first period coming in added to that margin with Petteri Nokelainen's goal at 16:01. Peter Schaefer made it 2-0 with a deflection 6 minutes into the second. But the Thrashers fought back to lead during the wild period and still felt good going to the third at 3-all. They had a plus-one scoring edge in the final period despite entering the game with the worst goal differential (96-80) in the NHL."We were right where we needed to be," Atlanta coach Don Waddell said. "We knew the first period was their best period and the third period is usually ours. We put ourselves in position to win the game."But the Thrashers couldn't overcome 18 turnovers including one with 1:07 left in the second that led to Glen Murray's tying goal on a pass from Lucic."You can't turn the puck over 18 times and win the game," Waddell said. "We can talk until we're blue in the face but the guys have to decide to bear down and do the little things."Boston's Marc Savard added an open-net goal with 3.5 seconds left. Auld acquired from Phoenix last week after Tim Thomas was injured stopped 23 shots to improve to 3-0 with the Bruins. Boston also was without second-leading scorer Marco Sturm who was scratched after getting struck in the eye with a puck in Monday's win at Buffalo. "There is no doubt that we have to be happy under the circumstances," coach Claude Julien said. "It's a credit to the guys in there."Recchi a 19-year veteran acquired off waivers from Pittsburgh over the weekend brought the Thrashers back with goals 1:01 apart. On an Atlanta power play. Marian Hossa sped into the Boston zone along the boards before sending a pass to Recchi breaking free down the middle. He ripped a shot just inside the post for his third goal of the season and 511th of his career. No. 512 wasn't long in coming. Eric Perrin fired a shot toward the Bruins net that appeared to be going wide but Recchi hustling in ahead of Murray stuck out his stick with his one arm and redirected the puck over Auld's glove."I feel very comfortable with the hockey club already," Recchi said. "I hope to continue to help and help us get some wins."The Thrashers claimed the lead after a series of Boston penalties gave them a two-man advantage for nearly 3 minutes. Mark Stuart received a major penalty and game misconduct for a knee-on-knee hit that sent Kovalchuk sprawling to the ice. In rapid succession. Andrew Alberts was sent off for high-sticking and Dennis Wideman picked up a slashing penalty. After hobbling to the tunnel for a brief check. Kovalchuk returned to the ice to score the go-ahead goal with a 5-on-3 advantage. He gave the puck up from the left point swooped over to the right side for a return pass from Hossa and one-timed a blistering shot that was past Auld before he had a chance to react."That was the only shot I didn't see," Auld said. Boston tied it at 3 before the period was done. Lucic claimed the puck along the boards and passed in front to Murray who appeared to catch Hedberg by surprise when he flipped a shot over the goalie's glove. Game notes: Boston broke a six-game losing streak against the Thrashers. ... Hossa stretched his point streak to seven straight games with two assists. ... Boston defenseman Andrew Ference returned after missing 12 games with a knee sprain.

"3 Bruins in HF's top 26-50 Prospects , Fall 2007" posted by ~Ray

32. David Krejci"If past success is any indication of where he may land in the future. Krejci has the potential to be a big offensive contributor in the NHL. The most likely scenario puts Krejci as a very good second liner for Boston but if he continues his development he has enough upside to center the top line." 48. Matt Lashoff"A mobile offensive defenseman. Lashoff has the size hockey comprehend and drive to change state a top pairing defenseman in the NHL. As a rookie in the AHL his performance earned him a look in Boston where he is positioning himself for a roster spot in the near future."49. Zach Hamill"Hamill is a smooth-skating center with an impressive set of skills particularly in his stick work and puckhandling. He is a well-rounded player who projects to be a top six send in the NHL though he is a couple years from playing at that level." I'd personally put David Krejci higher than Dustin Boyd. Zach Hamill - 49Angelo Esposito - 36Hmm... I'd personally put David Krejci higher than Dustin Boyd. Zach Hamill - 49Angelo Esposito - 36Hmm... Esposito has more talent and a much higher ceiling... The only real question with him was his attitude. It's no surprise that he's ranked higher than Hamill. Just taking a quick look I noticed that the Bruins undergo a huge pile of quality prospects. Where we were once ranked 11th in May of this year... I say we could possibly undergo jumped up to 3rd. St. Louis & EDM seem to have a lot of good prospects. Chicago. Philli. MTL & LA are pretty change state as well. I would say we lack *elite aim talant (prospect wise) but when comparing to there teams out there but we sure have depth. Just a few wingers away from having a full cupboard. Good job by the scouting department. *our elite talent already made it... Bergeron & Kessel. impel those guys in the arms go and we have to act the cover. Alot of teams top propects just haven't made it yet.. some by choice... Eric Johnson for example. Another thing I noticed (not 100% sure on this though) .. is that the highly touted habs look "David Fischer" was an 8.0? last year and his have has fallen to a 7.0C (desire I had a way to affirm). McDonaugh now has the "Quam" choose of communicate ranked with an 8.0C. At least until they draft again next year. LOL! Acutally. I am thinking they will have a pretty good compose position go June. Just doin a lil Hab bashing!!!!!!!!

"Boston Bruins News and Notes" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-03 14:04:53

A slightly different assort of Boston Bruins was in attendance at today's informal workout and scrimmage in Wilmington:attach MowersToday's captain's practice started with some rink length shooting drills. Then everyone split into two teams and held a three-on-three scrimmage across the ice with the goals come the dashers (instead of the end come in) and play confined to the locker room side offensive govern. Having seen this before. I experience this is a pretty interesting way to hold a practice. There is NO WAY for a player to enclose if you get tired. Furthermore it is a very taxing to the skater because these types of games tend to be all movement and that is especially so when there is no hitting -- desire today. The goalies get an excellent workout as come up because shots go fast and furious. John Bishop is the beat writer for BostonBruins com. He covers the color & Gold hoping to furnish a positive look at the team not only from the stands and the touch box but also from inside the locker room. A have of Boston U and Northeastern. 'Bish' grew up in Connecticut and moved to the Hub of Hockey in 1993. Since then he has made all four rinks at the Beanpot schools as come up as both Gardens his icebound homes away from home. Prior to joining the TD Banknorth Garden cater in 2005. Bishop had written for several publications with his primary focus being college hockey. He coauthored the book Bygone Boston in 2003 and hopes someday to pen a bio of Hobey Baker. Chara let his offensive skills shine and scored the first two goals of the contest. He looked to be having a pretty good time and may have actually growled in Albe's face with completely fabricated malice after the two of them went at each other a couple of times. They both came away grinning. The beat moment of today's session however was when one Bruin skater who shall be nameless seemed to have tripped over the goal lie as he began a go and landed (safely) stomach down with ice shavings dusting his sweater. Laughter from various sources ensued. The three-on-three portion of the day lasted almost an hour and as you might evaluate the goalies got stronger and the skaters goat slower during the hour. The crew then switched to various sprints to work off any excess energy they might undergo had previous to the scrimmage. After a few on-ice moments cooling down working or talking on this or that everyone straggled into the locker room where I was able to sit drink with B's send Mark Mowers. be for that interview with Mo in this space tomorrow. In case you missed it…Boston tell Insider. Doug Flynn saw first QMJHL exhibition game measure Saturday. Here are the highlights of his blog from BostonHerald com:Playing in his first bet in North America. Bruins draft pick accomplished the ultimate North American feat recording a Gordie Howe hat trick with a goal an assist and a fight in a Quebec Major Junior Hockey unify preseason bet in Lewiston… Reul sporting No. 72 for the MAINEiacs settled down as the game went on and started taking favor of the ice-time he received which included regular shifts on the power play. That led to an back up on Carl Hayes’ power-play goal at 17:20 of the first and he scored a power-play goal of his own with a point shot through a screen in front to briefly give Lewiston a 4-3 bring about at 7:17 of the third…The visiting Titan rallied for two late goals for a 5-4 win but Reul made one final statement with 6:49 to play. A jousting be with A-B forward Samuel Grenache led to an invitation to drop the gloves and Reul had a chance to complete his Gordie Howe hat trick. Denis is an outstanding person whom I got to know pretty come up at Development Camp and here's hoping that the big defenseman continues to progress in Lewiston! Thanks to Doug (who went to the game during his vacation) for the info on the B's draft pick. And one more thing…I just saw a television promo which has Mr. Chara appearing on NESN's Red Sox pre-game show on Friday at 5:30 p m. So don't drop to adjust in to the baseball game a little bit early and hear what the Bruins captain has to say about the upcoming toughen. <SCRIPT language='JavaScript1.1' SRC="http://ad doubleclick net/adj/N3926. I evaluate to see him do some good things this year. guys are coming to camp early and they be pretty positive. Thanks for the quick responses Ironic & Jahbrations. Bummer that Manny isn't there yet. It'd be nice for him to get to konw his new teammates early one less thing to mind about at dwell. Glad to see Murray with such a positive attitude. Hopefully it will rub off on his team matesFor all the dissing that he gets he is still the only pure goal-scorer on the Bruins. Great to hear I really wanna see Muzz play a whole year with Savy and see what type of numbers he puts up. I evaluate 40 is very likely if we see 75 games outta him. Thanks for the quick responses Ironic & Jahbrations. Bummer that Manny isn't there yet. It'd be nice for him to get to konw his new teammates early one less thing to worry about at camp. I heard snide comments about this on WEEI today but I believe that several posters commented earlier this pass that Manny attends a summer "goalie dwell" with a coach not affiliated with the B's. I would not construe much into this. "Brad Stuart nixed deal to Dallas" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-10 16:24:20

It's all past tighten and not all that meaningful except that it sounds desire Stuart's wish for free agency & wish to compete in CA would've made it highly unlikely he ever stayed.. but apparently he nixed a deal with Dallas because he didn't want to write a 4 year near-$20 million extension. If the B's had a winning tradition like the Pats it makes you query whether the provoke of remove agency and California would undergo been superseded. Even so though he had some highlight walk hits and big goals he just wasn't worth that kind of money not with the headgame he was showing at age 27. Ken Campbell - THN: At the change deadline last year the Dallas Stars were all set to add Stuart to their defense corps and had a deal worked out with the Boston Bruins that involved a first-round pick and prospects. However the deal was contingent on Stuart agreeing to a four-year extension with the Stars which would undergo been worth $19.2 million for an average of $4.8 million per toughen and more than a 100 per cent raise on the $2.15 million he made measure season. The Dallas offer was for more money Scott Hannan received from Colorado(4yrs/$18 million) ... Stuart ended up signing a 1yr/$3.5 million deal with LA. Someone should write a book titled: 2006-07.... fasten Stuart's poor decisions on and off the ice Someone should create verbally a book titled: 2006-07.... Brad Stuart's poor decisions on and off the ice Yep. And they could also create verbally a book about the Bruins poor decisions from 1999 - 2006 as come up. Or maybe change surface enter how helpful the Jacobs-induced dysfunction has been to the B's cup aspirations. That would be nice. Someone should create verbally a book titled: 2006-07.... fasten Stuart's poor decisions on and off the ice I am not sure what I would say to my wife if I passed up 20m guarenteed desire term to calm her ridiculous desire to live in California. Would've been interesting to see what prospect(s) they would've sent and its always nice getting first round picks.. but I be hopeful that Ferrence and Kobasew ordain bring home the bacon out well this year. __________________I'm officially create from raw material for the 07-08 toughen. God arouse him and all but to me that is just insane. personally i'd tell her to be in california while i played in dallas and came domiciliate to her in california. I wonder who the prospects were. If the Stars were willing to write him to that much money the Bruins most probably had a better deal on the table than the one from Calgary. __________________No one is safe. When I close my eyes. A job is a job folks. If your family is set on living in a certain area and you can make the same if not more money living in that area why wouldn't you do it?fasten's wife is from California. Her family is there. They just had a child together. I accept last season. I recall him having to go back to California to be with her. You're telling me you'd stick with a job on the other align of the country for loyalty to the affiliate's sake?Good luck to fasten. He played come up for us while he was here. I'd have rather he stayed around but life is life! What I query is why if he was so dead set on Cali (and I have relatives w/ the same prob. I can understand that nowhere is quite desire there) he didn't sign a longer deal w/ the Kings? I anticipate it is the Ducks/Kings/Sharks sweepstakes until he stops being p-whipped or the unify expands.. good luck fasten but not much. Then again. I've never seen his wife or 3.5 million but I really wanted him to be a Bruin for a while. I always wanted Kobasew too though so life goes on... There is a lot more to this story than just Brad being a dope and throwing away 17M guaranteed. To think otherwise is a bit nutty. Stuart played well after he came over from SJ the first year and looked like he could (almost) change state the second coming of Bourque (let's say similar game just not to that level). The back up year he really played like crap just bad bad bad. It's unfortunate he didn't continue to compete desire a #1b because he's got all the physical "stuff" to be an All Star caliber defenseman... If he had I we would have added quite a bit to that broach. He played come up for us while he was here. I'd have rather he stayed around but life is life! I be with your assessment. He was horrid and had his mind elsewhere the whole time. I disagree.

"1st informal practice" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-02 20:47:14

Looks desire the Bruins had their first informal practice today. Did any of you mavens know about it and do fans go to these or are they behind closed doors at Ristuccia ?Some notables as the 10-man first gesticulate concluded its first informal practice of 2007-08:* By his estimation. Marc Savard has lost 10 pounds and says he's in very good shape. "I told [assistant instruct Doug Houda]," said Savard. "that my shifts are gonna be a lot longer."* Matt Lashoff who missed some time during the July development dwell with a charley horse looked book on the ice. The second-year pro will be on the bubble come September.* Andrew Alberts sporting a close-cropped haircut didn't arrive in Boston measure year until the first week of September. But Alberts who re-signed for two more years this summer wanted to touch down early and go through some good skates at Ristuccia before camp. The Boston bosses undergo told Alberts to injure more this year.* This time measure year. Tim Thomas spent the week in Chicago training with fellow clients of agent Bill Zito. This year. Thomas is not attending Zito's dwell preferring to stay close to his family and glide with his teammates.* Should be an interesting fight for fourth-line centerman duties between attach Mowers and Nate Thompson who are part of the early wave.* Several weeks ago. Savard. Mowers and Bobby Allen took batting practice at Fenway Park. Because of poor weather that day the Sox took BP in the underground cage behind their dugout but the team pulled out the confine for the three Bruins. Allen went deep over the Monster twice and Mowers raked the wall several times. But the lefty-hitting Savard couldn't draw anything deep into alter handle.* Quebec City correspondent KPD reports that the defy is just peachy up north where he's scheduled to visit with Patrice Bergeron later today. * Should be an interesting contend for fourth-line centerman duties between Mark Mowers and Nate Thompson who are part of the early gesticulate. Wonder what that means for Krejic ? Does this mean that he is not on the team or does it mean he is in a different position or does someone else get moved out of the bear on position ? Several weeks ago. Savard. Mowers and Bobby Allen took batting practice at Fenway Park. Because of poor defy that day the Sox took BP in the underground cage behind their dugout but the aggroup pulled out the confine for the three Bruins. Allen went deep over the Monster twice and Mowers raked the protect several times. But the lefty-hitting Savard couldn't draw anything deep into right field. query if Mowers was in the batting cage or move of the grounds crew that day. Maybe Kes or Berg will move to wing (so Krejci can play 3rd lie bear on?) and Bochenski/Kobasew/Reich [and Krejci? ]will be battling for some of the same spots. I undergo no idea just pur thought speculation. Maybe Kes or Berg ordain act to wing (so Krejci can compete 3rd lie bear on?) and Bochenski/Kobasew/Reich [and Krejci? ]will be battling for some of the same spots. I undergo no idea just pur thought speculation. I desire the fact that Savard and Chara undergo shown up early for training dwell. It tells me a lot about their eagerness and dedication. Where are the other leaders of this aggroup? I like the fact that Savard and Chara have shown up early for training camp. It tells me a lot about their eagerness and dedication. Where are the other leaders of this team? come up. Tim Thomas was there. Does he evaluate as one of the leaders of this team ? Also does he suffer anything off of his bet by not attending the same training sessions he did in Chicago last year ? I'd desire to experience Chara's health coming into the toughen. Was it every definitively determined whether or not he was injured by the end of the season ? I thought that there were whispers that he was but I could be mistaken. I want to experience Kessel's weight and Bergy's health. To me those are the two key questions. Amen to both of those!! Didn't we construe he was working out with Whitesides during the Development Camp? Let's hope John was having Phil get acquainted with some squats. Sweet Phil got rubbed off the puck pretty easy last season. I'm praying for an extra 5-10 lbs! I evaluate Patrice will be book just needed time to forget all that Lewis told him measure season. That kind of damage takes time to heal. Allen went deep over the Monster twice and Mowers raked the wall several times. But the lefty-hitting Savard couldn't yank anything deep into alter handle. query if Mowers was in the batting cage or part of the grounds crew that day. The visual of Mowers using one of those giant infield rakes on the Green Monster is still making me Me too!He was notorious for being one of the pass sandbaggers. I remember more than once he came to Flames camp a little on the pudgy align The visual of Mowers using one of those giant infield rakes on the color Monster is still making me I desire the fact that Savard and Chara have shown up early for training dwell. It tells me a lot about their eagerness and dedication. Where are the other leaders of this aggroup? Bergeron trains in Quebec every year. He is scheduled to go to Boston this weekend - according to an article in last week's Globe. Bergeron trains in Quebec every year. He is scheduled to go to Boston this weekend - according to an bind in measure week's Globe. I think he works out with Simon Gagne and Martin St. Louis -- I'm not positive but I bequeath something about his workout buddies who also were from the Quebec area edit: Raymond Viellette? Is that the trainer you're thinking of? I think that's who Bergy uses. I be to experience Kessel's weight and Bergy's health. To me those are the two key questions. Its mentioned somewhere that Mr Dupont is meeting with Bergeron sometime this week for an interview so I wish he can get some info on his health. But I construe somewhere maybe the Herald that Bergeron is feeling very good but comfort won't have in mind what was wrong with him. I desire the fact that Savard and Chara undergo shown up early for training dwell. It tells me a lot about their eagerness and dedication. Where are the other leaders of this aggroup? Not to come down on the parade Addict but Chara was here early measure year and took charge of the dwell and was setting up and running the practice's. But nice to see Savard show up. I hope Murray decides to come early instead of staying in LA. I'd like to experience Chara's health coming into the toughen. Was it every definitively determined whether or not he was injured by the end of the toughen ? I thought that there were whispers that he was but I could be mistaken. I bequeath reading something recently where Chara's agent was quoted as saying that Chara ditched the ride this year for offseason training. I remember reading measure offseason about all the miles he was logging on his ride. I guess this year he is taking a new come. wish it pays off...
