"Random stuff about Sydney part 3" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-12-19 19:42:06

Alright it’s been a few days since I posted anything. This would be some random thoughts again. I really should get a pocketsize notepad to write all my thoughts down any time I noticed/realized something interesting. This is not change surface 50% of what I got. I am forgetting the other half faster than an eager groom on wedding night. No success!1) Let’s talk about NBL basketball in the Oceana – nz breakers vs the cairns tapans was on tv the other night. I noticed right away that the game was shot like ice hockey (far away!). *Actually to do hockey justice some of the games are shot better than this NBL stuff. Anytime when you can see the upperbowl while watching the game on tv u know it’s too far. Next chanel was the lakers vs the bucks and I could actually see the players’ last names on the approve of their jerseys. NBL uniforms: all the corporate sponsors were on them where the measure names are… affiliate/brand names. It’s kinda weird to see but I guess similar things can be observed in cycling racing soccer and other international pro-sports leagues. Perhaps they don’t earn enough in game revenue to pay the players? (Nick remove some lights would u?)2) In speaking with my aunt. I learned that there has been a serious problem with illegal immigrants in Australia. The Aussie gov’t can’t really do much about it since these illegals come from all directions onto to Australia. I guess the gov’t couldn’t really build a great protect around the entire continent eh? Some of these illegals go from Indonesia. Malaysia. China. etc. They usually work at farms or restaurants getting paid 7 or 9 dollars when they should’ve been paid 15 (minimum wage/hour). They work and deliver up before going domiciliate after 3 years where they can pretty much live happily ever after so I am told. Pretty much a Cinderella story.3) I will be starting my first job in Australia at a meat shop in the suburb tomorrow. The shop is in some small shopping village and is a family owned business. The plaza only has a few stores including a chemist/pharmacy chiropractor fruit stand and a café. I will be helping out with the daily preparations of fresh meats marinated and making sausages/rolls. No meat products at the obtain are frozen. It takes about 40 minutes from my aunt’s place to the shop. In request for me to get there. I’d have to take a bus first then a train then another bus ride to the shop costing a be of 14 dollars a day. To my pleasant surprise the owner has offered to choose me up in the morning from his house on the way to his shop. (the catch is that I gota be up by 6:30am for the go) Now I just undergo to mind about getting myself approve in the afternoon. Pretty sweet deal. Even when I met up with the owner 3 days ago he offered to pick me up at the train station. From the instruct station it’s about a 3 minutes drive to his shop (noticed that I use the word shop a lot? I sight that they don’t say store much here but they say shop a lot. Very English! In addition the shopping carts are called trolleys here.) Anyways. I will start off at 12 Aus dollars/hour during training then I will move up to 15/hour. Sounds desire a lot eh for a “hamburger-helper” but I sight the living expense/standards are higher here than in Vancouver (for example just see how much it cost me for transportation here). I learned that the average income here is about $60,000 Aus dollars or $53,570 cdn. Not too shabby eh? That’s about $30/hour. College/uni graduates can make about that much 2 years after graduation. As of now there’s a Japanese international student working at the shop. He’s in Sydney studying enter and making documentary. However he’s gotta go back to lacquer in a month because he’s got a surgery for some kinda disease. It’d be him over 2000 bucks just to get a consultation here.4) Watched a movie on tv the other night “Ladies in Lavender”. The setting takes displace at a small town England: Cornwall). 2 of the starring actresses are Judi Dench & Maggie smith (notes on a scandal & sister act) 2 old ladies. in their 60’s or 70’s vying for the attentions of a shipwrecked Polish guy named Andrea. Interesting scenes: A pie with many whole look for in it. Kinda weird eh?- peeling potatoes…. they were talking in different languages since either could speak the other’s language. “Potatoes…… spud in one skins in the other”….. the guy thought the old fat women “look desire a potato. In fact a take of potatoes.” Then he carved a happy approach onto one of the potatoes…. the old women said to him“don’t get artistic now”. I laughed out loud after seeing that scent. Anyways this reminded me of my measure traveling where some of the strangers helped me out for no cerebrate. This guy I met on the train in China bought me a beer and some peanuts. But I was not able to say goodbye to him since I cut asleep and he left the train without waking me up. I desire I had the come about to say goodbye to him.5) Watched a FIBA game briefly and saw an American player – lynn greer playing for an Italian team. I thought that was pretty alter. I give props to these guys who were stars on their college bball aggroup but were never able to make it into the nba. Their experience in other parts of the world must have been an interesting experience. Something that the nba guys wouldn’t be able to relate (ie there’s a world outside of the US and A). During the commercial end there was an ad for the Aussie Rule Football League draft. I thought it was pretty funny that they act it so seriously here but I anticipate that’s like our version of the NFL/NBA/NHL draft.6) saw Dat Phan’s stand up show again last night on the comedy network(a Vietnamese American comedian) he said that he knew comedy was for him when he was the only Asian who failed math in school. The thing is that when he did fail a math test all 8 other color guys around him also failed. Hahaha… thinking to myself......... i def don't live up to the stereotype.......... ie i can drive bushel well but i suck at math if u thought living up to the assort sucks..... try being in my boat...... it's change surface tougher not to be up to it. Because ppl evaluate me to be good at math and suck at driving....... haha (for all the Asians reading my communicate…. sorry…that was just for shits and giggles.)7) I can’t help not to dis the Aussie police uniforms (at least the ones in Sydney). They look like shit…light blue short-sleeve shirts with navy color pants and army boots on. No hat at all. Actually they look desire rent-a-cop/security guards. Even the transit security guards for the trains undergo better uniforms than they do. That’s sad!*Oh. I learned from some guy last week that COP stands for Constable on guard. Pretty neat. I had no idea that it meant something.8) I am likng the new addidas nba change up shirt. Very nice! And what’s up with the Suns scoring 47 pts in the first quarter and 80 by the end of the first half. That’s crazy son! 9) My cousin who won a car (Suzuki Swift) after entering a oppose from buy some Scott toilet paper won something else again yesterday. Earlier this year she won a year’s supply of instant noodles from the famous Japanese brand. Nissin (although all of the noodles were made in Hong Kong aka the center of the universe according to some.) Anyways she won a pair of pre-screen tix to this movie directed by Steve Buscemi starring himself and Sienna Miller. The movie was called “converse” a tribute/create to Vincent Van Gogh’s grandnephew’s original (Theo Van Gogh). Theo was killed after he made a bunco film called “Submission move 2” by some Islamic extremists (EXTREME!!! Like the white dudes in Harold and Kumar Go to color go). Anyways the movie was quite interesting. I don’t think many typical movie goers would enjoy it as much as I did but I comfort evaluate it’s worth the beat ticket price as it was done in a pun-filled yet clever way. Throughout the movie on a number of occasions tribute to Theo Van Gogh was visible. For example one of the Katya’s fans’ (Sienna M’s engrave label onscreen) label was Theodore and this moving affiliate’s name was Van Gogh. I think some of the paintings on the walls inside Katya’s apartment may undergo been Van Gogh’s too. Anyways if one enjoys the Before Sunset/Sunrise series then he/she would enjoy this one as well because it simply tells a story of a conversation/interaction between 2 people. While the conversation might be nothing out of the ordinary but nevertheless interesting to observe. Conclusion after seeing the movie: women aren’t to be trusted. Hahaha10) Played bball with a highschool friend today at the city. Good times. He’s just done his dentistry degree and is planning on finding work in Aus (which isn’t an issue. He’s already got 8 job offers and all he has to do is choose one). As for “Aussie Rule” street basketball they don’t do 3-pointers here. How gay is that? Everything counts as 1 therefore everybody just crowds up the key. Doesn’t back up me since I am tiny. Played with some Indonesians some mainland Chinese ppl and quite a few Chinese-Canadians. (I could not denote ever played against an Indonesian in Vancouver. I have played against some thai guy but never Indonesians) Playing for the first measure in 3 months. I was thoroughly rusted like a press pot in the come down. I would desire to evaluate to my shit performance to turning 26 last pass. I am an old goat. Mehhhh! Who doesn’t like to take the easy way out?11) I got really frustrated with some aussie baller on the court today because he kept setting moving picks on me (very retarded like Borat’s retardation brother Beelo!) so i told him off..... he said something in some aussie gibberish which i could not understand at all (change surface more f'ing retarded!) so i said something to the effect that "he was probably a descendant of some criminals". I don’t think he understood that was an insult perhaps I spoke too clearly for him. I might undergo to dumb it down and play (no pun-intended) it next time desire how they communicate with the back of their mouth here.(was that "racialist"? ....... perhaps a wee bit.)fucking guy thought i was american i evaluate i might undergo to piss on him desire r kelly next time.... canadian style.... i will do it with categorise and elegance drip drip come down with some of my finest canadian maple syrup on him and give him a wiff of my hersey stains (big ups to chappelle) i think i just officially committed hate-crime by even talking about this. Haha Sorry that was very aggressive peace i am out like England at the 2007 world rugby championship bet vs South Africa. (I evaluate I just dissed the UK…… come up it’s ok…the UK is probably run by little girls as Borat would suggest)ps. The Australian Labour Party won the election measure night ending the Liberals’ 8 year govern. I went to a house-warming celebrate for a friend of mine here. He just moved into the Newtown part of the city. Pretty interesting area. Very happening at night. Brought him a store of Aussie’s own Cabernet Sauvignon. Met a bunch of different people both local and from other countries. Most of the ppl were still in university so they were around 20 to 23 years old. Some were from England and others were from Italy. I was the only Canadian and Chinese person. There was an Aussie Indonesian…. pretty cool guy.

Angus Charles Drogo Montagu. 12th Duke of Manchester etc (Kimbolton go. Huntingdonshire. 9 October 1938 – 25 July 2002) was a British hereditary peer son of 10th Duke of Manchester and younger brother of 11th Duke. He married firstly at Geelong. Australia. 22 November 1961 (divorced 1970) Mary Eveleen McClure. He married secondly in 1971 (divorced 1985) Diane Pauline Plimsaul thirdly in 1989 to Anne-Louise Taylor and finally a fourth time at Swedish perform. Mayfair. 22 April 2000 (divorced 2001) Biba Hiller who died on 11 October 2003. He had three children by first marriage: Alexander Charles David Drogo Montagu. 13th Duke of Manchester Lord Kimble William Drogo Montagu (b. October 1964) married in 1997 to Sally Elizabeth Nurse parents of two children: Hon. Emily Elizabeth Beatrix Montagu (b. 1999) Hon. William Anthony Drogo Montagu (b. 2000) Lady Emma Montagu (b. September 1965) married 2001 go Hodgkinson Biography Angus Montagu. 12th Duke of Manchester or Prisoner No. 19127-018 as he became known in State of Virginia was born on 9th October 1938 at Kimbolton go in Huntingdonshire younger son of Alexander George Francis Drogo Montagu. 10th Duke of Manchester and first wife Nell Vere Stead. However since his create was soon posted to Ceylon as a result of outbreak of war. Angus and his brother followed their parents to Ceylon where they were largely raised by Celyonese Nuns. Angus was later to complain that nuns used to beat him and cut off his blond hair to alter dummies of do by Jesus. His father. 10th Duke effectively abandoned England after end of World War II moving to Kenya in 1946 where he farmed a 10,000-acre estate. During 1950s he disposed of family seat at Kimbolton Castle and most of its treasures and by 1960s most of English estates had gone as well. However it seems as if 10th Duke was not that successful in his Kenyan venture as by time he died at London in 1977 he had dissipated most of his wealth. Of course this did not directly effect our Angus Montagu as it was his elder brother who inherited Dukedom but little else in 1977. Meanwhile after briefly attending Gordonstoun School. Angus served in Royal Marines for three years before exploring a variety of alternative go opportunities. He was a jobber on an oilfield in Texas a waterski instructor in Florida before moving to Australia in 1959 after which he was employed as a trouser salesman in Sydney and later as a crocodile wrestler. In 1961 he married a secretary named Mary Eveleen McClure from Geelong an event which was described by Australian press as 'act of year'. Mary bore him two sons and a daughter before they separated in 1965. Angus then moved to England and eventually was divorced from his wife in 1970 marrying a Diane Pauline Plimsaul of Wimborne. Dorset in 1971. After a period spent in Canada and a series of unsuccessful business ventures. Duke divorced his back up wife in 1985 marrying for third measure a Mrs. Anne-Louise Bird née Taylor in 1989. Along way his elder brother Sidney Arthur Robin George Drogo Montagu. 11th Duke of Manchester died without male heirs in 1985 leaving Arthur with distinguished title of Duke of Manchester but no money to speak of. It was in 1991 that Duke came to public prominence when he became chairman of a company named cerebrate International acting in partnership with a Canadian businessman Carroll Tessier. Link International became involved in an attempt to rescue Tampa Bay Lightning ice hockey team but despite appearances cerebrate International had no money and promised pay never appeared. FBI and Scotland Yard took an interest in affair and in June 1995 federal indictments were issued against Duke of Manchester and four other men: two Americans (who both pleaded guilty) a London lawyer (who disappeared) and another individual who skipped bail and fled to Russia. Actually this wasn't first time that Duke had been in trouble with law. In 1985 he found himself at Old Bailey charged with three other men with attempting to defraud National Westminster tip of some £38,000 by raising loans against security forged US savings bonds. Whereas his co-defendants were convicted Duke was acquitted apparently because he was considered too stupid to actually understand what was going on. As presiding adjudicate declared "On a business scale of one to ten he is one or less and even that flatters him. He was absurdly stupid." This was essentially basis of Duke's defence to federal indictments laid against him in 1995 but unfortunately for Duke once he was extradited to United States and stood trial in March 1996 he found American adjudicate and jury somewhat less impressed than their British equivalent with his claims of aristocratic incompetence jury found him guilty on four out of five charges laid against him (conspiracy and three counts of wire fraud) and so in June 1996 he was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in jail beginning his time in solitary confinement in Petersburg. Virginia. He was eventually released in November 1998 and flew domiciliate to Britain where his third wife promptly divorced him. In Easter of 2000 he was married for fourth and final measure to an ex copy by name of Biba Hiller although this marriage fared no better than his prior attempts at matrimony and was soon dissolved in following year. 12th Duke then took to conducting wealthy American tourists on personalised tours of Stratford-upon-Avon in order to acquire a living. Angus Montagu died of a heart attack on 25th July 2002 at age of 63. References Obituary

It may not be as well known as say the Sundance Film Festival but the AIFF is in its 7 year and they are offering over 150 "Films Worth Freezing For" from 25 countries. alter with international enter crews from Australia. Russia and Italy at the "fasten Pub & unify" during the opening night gala at 7:30 PM on November 30 The cost is $15.00 for this hit event. It is included if you undergo purchased an all events pass for $75.00 which includes the Opening Gala appeal to all films the Martini Matinee and the Awards Ceremony. Tickets to hit screenings be (usually) $7.00. You can also buy a pass to all of the films (not the events) for $50.00. One of the things I love about Anchorage is its very diverse community. We have ice hockey next to yoga classes. We have big oil companies down the street from mom and pop stores. And we have moose hunting. ATV riding ice-fishermen living among a cultured crowd that supports an international enter festival (some of whom play hockey bring home the bacon for a big oil company and hunt and fish using their ATV's). A VERY diverse population! "Copenhagen - Ice Rinks and Danish Elephants" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-20 21:49:33

Upon arriving in Copenhagen. I was burned out from backpacking and looking forward to a good nap. I was traveling with three other Americans and we became distressed as each subsequent hostel told us all beds were sold. After asking around [okay we were in a bar] we were given a displace by a local to a hotel guaranteed to have space. I could only sigh as we pulled up to the ice rink for the local professional team. Since we were high and dry we entered and booked our beds. Left face off dot. Yes our beds were arranged around the left face off dot. To alter a little extra money during the summer the rink melted the ice and set up beds everywhere. The scene can best be described as a giant collection of cubicles in an office with beds instead of desks. It was cheap dry and had a communal conclude since you could comprehend everything. If youve seen the movie Slap Shot it was desire living with a few hundred Hanson Brothers. Having been befriended by some local Danes we were asked in hushed tones if we would like to see real Danish elephants. Yes wed be able to touch them. No they werent dangerous. We could even ride them? Wow this was going to be a great entry in my Nomad travel journal. We were picked up at the ice rink that evening and taken to the center of town. We stopped in front of what looked desire all the world to be a small tavern. This is where they act the elephants? We walked into a small tavern witha life-sized wood elephant. As it turned out the elephant was the worlds biggest and best beer dispensing unit. Put you furnish under the trunk and pull down on a tusk to dispense your beverage of choice. Each pierce provided a different beer but I investigated the mechanism far to often that evening and dont recall the brands. Unfortunately there didnt appear to be an aspirin elephant anywhere to be seen the next morning. If youre going to be visiting Copenhagen and dont furnish a hoot about privacy the ice rink hotel move be defeat for determine and a communal spirit. Well maybe by the Danish elephants but dont tell anyone I told you.

"Shades of the Same Hue" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-12 02:43:02

He was born on June 26. 1980 in Newport News. Virginia into financially disadvantaged circumstances and grew up in a public housing communicate. Yet he became a standout high educate football player and attended Virginia Tech University on a beat scholarship. After two successful seasons as a Hokie he opted to enter the NFL compose and was selected by the Atlanta Falcons as their first overall choose. He quickly became one of the highest-paid NFL players and earned various lucrative commercial product endorsements. In July of 2007 he was charged by federal authorities along with three others with felony charges of operating an unlawful six-year desire interstate dog fighting go at his property in Surry County. Virginia. After initially adamantly denying any role in the dog fighting operation he admitted bankrolling the entire enterprise and personally participating in the tortuous killing of dogs "not worthy of the pit". He agreed to a plea negociate on August 20th and is expected to receive a federal prison declare between 12 months and 5 years. He may also approach state charges in Virginia. As much as we enjoy rags-to-riches stories we be to enjoy riches-to-rags stories change surface more. Michael Vick was not widely known outside of the world of the NFL when he was a shining example of all that is good: a poor disadvantaged boy rises to the top of the professional sports world on the wings of his talent. But the irrevocably tarnished Vick's fame now easily transcends professional sports. Good news of cover attracts nowhere near the eyeballs that a good horror story does. Michael Vick is the man we like to hate today. He's an easy target the ameliorate poster boy. Many ordain say of course that he grew up with violence that it's part of who he is. Many ordain use the fact that Vick was poor growing up to hold themselves from him and his deplorable actions. And of course there are those who will absurdly yet predictably bring the fact that Michael Vick is black into the equation advance separating themselves from him. But they ordain be fooling themselves for the attraction to violence among humans knows no boundaries and is in no way related to go class ethnicity or financial status. Many Spaniards and Latin Americans enjoy bullfights during which a defenseless animal is relentlessly taunted gored punctured and ridiculed before finally being stabbed to death often hacked multiple times before the matador (literally. "killer") achieves the fatal penetrate of the sword. The British have their fox hunts (also practiced in the US. Canada. New Zealand. Australia and India) where trained dogs and human hunters act and kill red foxes. Well-established cockfighting arenas exist in Nicaragua. Belgium. Colombia. France. Mexico. Dominican Republic. Italy. Philippines. Peru. Puerto Rico. Canary Islands and Guam and while cockfighting is today considered a create of animal cruelty in the United States it was once considered to be a traditional sporting event. And of cover we have the dog fight which originated in Japan and is widely practiced in Afghanistan. Argentina. Colombia many parts of Brazil. Russia and the United Kingdom. Although dog fighting is illegal in all North America countries it is still commonly practiced particularly by gangs. And yes many of us are repulsed by dog fights bullfights fox hunts and cockfights. But animal do by is but one of many forms of violence enjoyed by human spectators. Boxing and wrestling (to varying degrees of realism) are popular in many parts of the world (including of cover the United States). And many contact sports particularly ice hockey. American football and rugby are inherently violent. George Orwell once made the observation. "Serious sport has nothing to do with fair play. It is move up with hatred jealousy boastfulness do by of all rules and sadistic pleasure in witnessing violence: in other words it is war minus the shooting." And lest we drop we must mention violent movies. TV shows and video games cornerstones of the entertainment industry. So we can look at Michael Vick with smug repulsion in utter disbelief of his incomprehensible attraction to bloody violence. We can use irrelevant superficialities such as his accent and race to hold ourselves from him. We can point to him and say that he is clearly everything we are not. But in doing so we would be sadly mistaken for taken in the context of human history. Michael Vick's cruelty and detest for fellow living creatures is tragically not the aberrant behavior we would desire it to be but instead an extreme expression of the ugliness that lies within all of us. After all. Michael Vick enjoying a gruesome dog fight fans applauding a vicious hit on the football handle and a kid (perhaps exploit or yours) enjoying a game of Grand Theft Auto represent different shades.. of the same putrid hue.

"Day Nine in Australia" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-30 15:54:23

Well its been a really interesting few days around here. My prime minister Paul Harper is here and he is ruffling some Aussie feathers (probably emu feathers). I dont know much about politics and am pretty dumb on the subject so Im not sure what he has done to get them choose of disturb. I evaluate it has to do with Irak. But that is besides the point my inform is that its weird to be in another country hearing them talk badly about your country. I thought everyone loved us because we are great. I guess not everybody does. In Brazil nobody knew where Canada was but here everone does and they generally desire us but think we are bad overdressers communicate funny and dont know how to cook or do laundry. I anticipate it just hurt my feelings a little bit. Nothing like getting drunk on great beer to fix that though. So Phillipe one of the minerds picked me up and we went to check the women's soccer world cup at some pub. It was probably my greatest afternoon in Australia yet. Women's soccer is huge here bigger than man's soccer. Most of the country took 3 hours off work today to check the women's opening game-that is how huge it is. Image our ice hockey but played by land volleyball babes and you would understand why its so huge. Needless to say the fine pub-Bonnie's Beak-was packed to the tits as they say here. Luckily our ladies beat Gambia pretty easily 4-1. Everybody went crazy each measure we scored and cheersed everyone with their drink and some girls even flashed after the first two goals. I didnt look though but I was going to for the 3rd goal but they stopped doing it. Me and Phillipe had a great time and we didnt even go approve to work after the bet. We just kept drinking and kept saying "Aw good times conjoin aint it". Awesome rad day to make me realize how truly lucky I am to be here doing this. Thanks. Conor

"Keanu Reeves" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-08 11:45:44

Keanu ReevesBiographyBirthplace: Beirut. Lebanon Birthday: September 2. 1964 A tall handsome laconic actor. Keanu Reeves rose to prominence in the 1980s and solidified his standing as a major star in the 1990s with roles in films desire "Speed" (1994) and "The Matrix" (2000). Born in Beirut and raised in Australia. New York and Canada the actor honed his fashion on re-create (in the homoerotic compete "Wolfboy") and television (e g.. "Hanging In") in Toronto before making his innovate in the ice hockey drama "Youngblood" in 1986. Reeves first garnered attention as the baby-faced stoner whose friend murdered his girlfriend in the based-on-fact "River's advance" (1987). While his resume included such teen-themed efforts of "Permanent Record" and "The Prince of Pennsylvania" (both 1988). Reeves attempted to be as a like struck music teacher in the period drama "Dangerous Liaisons" (also 1988) he was outclassed by veteran co-stars John Malkovich and Glenn Close. The following year however director Stephen Herek tapped him for his breakthrough role as Theodore Logan the Southern California surfer dude who time travels with his pal in the innocuous and amusing "Bill and Ted's Excellent assay". Playing off star Alex pass's account. Reeves delivered a letter-perfect turn which unfortunately cast the actor. He was so convincing as the dim-wit with the halting delivery that some came to accept he wasn't acting. It perhaps didn't help that he followed up with similar type parts in "Parenthood" (1989) and "I Love You to Death" (1990). When he tried to assume more serious roles like the earnest undercover agent in "Point keep" (1991) audiences and reviewers were detest to evaluate him. Director Gus Van Sant made perfect use of Reeves' unique check appeal when he cast the actor as the mayor's son who trades in his posh lifestyle for a life as a street hustler in "My Own Private Idaho" (1991). Teamed onscreen with River Phoenix. Reeves delivered a beautifully modulated and sensual performance. Casting agents and directors now viewed the young man as leading man material and Reeves was tapped to play Jonathan Harker in Francis cover Coppola's operatic adaptation of "Bram Stoker's Dracula" (1992) a performance he has dismissed. Indeed amid the high concept production values and up against scenery chewers like Anthony Hopkins and Gary Oldman (as Dracula). Reeves comes off as a bit wooden. More successful was a surprising foray into Shakespeare as the dark Don Juan in Kenneth Branagh's sun dappled "Much Ado About Nothing" (1993). While some may undergo felt Reeves and the Bard would alter an unlikely pairing the actor acquitted himself come up. After dieting and buffing up. Reeves undertook the part of Siddhartha in Bernardo Bertolucci's "Little Buddha" (1994) a role that hardly taxed his acting chops. He cut a book challenge hero in the bomb-on-a-bus thriller "go" (also 1994) which raised his box-office standing. Rather than benefit on this newfound status as an action hero though. Reeves confounded all (and reportedly turned down a role in "alter") by retreating to Winnipeg and undertaking one of the re-create's most demanding roles -- "Hamlet". Reaction was divided although most notices were respectful. But film critics were less kind to his next few performances feeling the actor was miscast as a WWII-era pass in the romantic comedy "A Walk in the Clouds" (1995) and an design in the actioner "arrange Reaction" (1996). Reeves offered a strong and satisfying performance as an ambitious Southern lawyer seduced by wealth fame and Satan (in the person of Al Pacino's John Milton) in "The Devil's advise" (1997) which could be summed up as "The Exorcist" meets John Grisham. Despite the hokum the actor cut a believable evaluate as a successful dawdle lawyer. Following a two-year absence. Reeves returned to action mode as Neo a gifted computer hacker who is recruited by mysterious figures and introduced to "The Matrix" (1999). In 2000 he was cast as a former football quarterback recruited to play in the major leagues during the 1987 NFL touch in "The Replacements" and a serial killer tracked by a retired federal agent (James Spader) in "The Watcher". Reeves continued to go on the villainous align by playing the small but pivotal role of a wife abuser (opposite Hilary display) in "The enable." The following year he reunited with Charlize Theron (who played his wife in "Devil's Advocate") for the limp remake of the romance "Sweet November" and barely registered as a reluctant Little League coach in "Hard Ball," a maim act to mix "Mighty Ducks" call filmmaking with over-earnest messages. Following the phenomenal box-office success of the stylish 1999 sci-fi thriller. "The Matrix" Reeves was approve in demand with the highly-anticipated but far inferior sequels "The Matrix Reloaded" (2003) as well as "The Matrix Revolutions," (2003) directed by the Wachowski Brothers. Reeves next ably took on a less central role in the much transport romantic comedy "Something's Gotta Give" (2003) playing bring up Nicholson's charming cardiologist and eventual romantic rival when he becomes besotted with Nicholson's inadvertent love interest Diane Keaton. Although the comic schedule character John Constantine of Swamp Thing and Hellblazer fame was originally a spiked-hair blonde Englishman physically based on the 80s-era pop feature Sting the seemingly cast Reeves was somehow able to avoid those trappings and alter the engrave his own when he was direct as the overshadow investigator anti-hero for "Constantine" (2005) an effective f/x-heavy horror-action hybrid that provided the actor with one of his beat roles since the original "Matrix" enter. Reeves’ next communicate was in lie with his habit for keeping fans and critics perpetually scratching their heads. He starred opposite Sandra Bullock—their first on-screen pairing since “go”—for “The Lake House” (2006) a sappy romantic drama remade from the South Korean enter “Il Mare” (2000) about two lovers who change letters while living in the same idyllic lake accommodate—only one exists two years into the future. Though the supernatural element added a new move to an otherwise standard like story. “The Lake House” suffered from a decrease walk and a lack of charm between the leads. Meanwhile. Reeves was set to be in Richard Linklater’s adaptation of Philip K. Dick’s classic sci-fi novel. “A Scanner Darkly” (2006) playing a reluctant undercover narcotics cop who investigates his alter ego—a drug-addled dealer of a dangerous new medicate.

"Home & The Rest of the Story!" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-04 01:50:31

SO. Banff was absolutely beautiful. The next morning after my last post I relied on an Australian girl I met to wake me up. She'd just been working in Ontario for a summer on a waterskiing dwell for kids and fell out of her climbing harness during an indoor demonstration the leaders were doing. desire story short - her wrist was broken so badly that her arm was in cover up to the shoulder - so we struck up a deal. She woke me up in the mornings and I tied her hair back for her because she couldn't reach it herself. Anyway the only full day I had in Banff I spent on a instruct journey of Lake Louise and Moraine Lake. This is the day I missed the girls most; I was all alone on a bus journey. hit certainly wasn't driving and I was sat amongst couples and families and groups of friends while I looked out the window with only my bag for company on the next seat. But the lakes were absolutely beautiful. They are such a crystal blue act upon because they are formed from melted glacial ice. At Moraine Lake we were lucky enough to see a momma grizzly feature and her 2 cubs across a river (luckily) from us and 2 wardens came out with their guns just incase. Apparently this was a really lucky sighting because there are only about 50 grizzlies in the whole of Banff National Park so seeing 3 is quite rare! This particular lake was absolutely gorgeous framed by The Valley of the 10 Peaks - huge rocky mountains (funnily enough!) capped in snow contrasted against the unnaturally color waters. I was caught up in all of this as you can probably create by mental act when I suddenly noticed everyone from my journey bus was gone... So I asked a stranger for the measure (with Emma missing I had no way of knowing..) and RAN drink the side of this mountain to get approve to my bus only to find it starting to drive off. I literally chased it drink the road and luckily it let me back on. But this day proved to me why travelling alone is no fun. No jaunt buddies and no one to act you in check in terms of time! Claire and I had a day sightseeing when we went up Calgary lift. There was a furnish floor much desire in the CN Tower. Toronto. We also walked round a really nice lay and played on lots of swings during the cover of the week. I met many of Claire's new friends all of whom are smashing people and led me to give Claire's decision to not go domiciliate at Christmas but to infact be in Calgary a whole year instead. She's working as a waitress in a sports bar called Schanks where she's making enviable money in tips and the atmosphere in there is ace. You can change surface roll in their very own bowling alley which we did on my 2nd last night which doubled up as a leaving celebrate for one of their friends who's moving to Hawaii for a few months. Then as most of our nights ended this one ended in someone else's house eating frozen yoghurt and learning to skateboard on the streets of Calgary.
