"Basketball Wagering - Wizards running over without Arenas" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-09-27 02:29:44

One of the hottest trends in right now features the and their amazing resiliency without Gilbert Arenas in the lineup. The Wizards are 5-4 straight up and 6-3 against the spread since Arenas underwent a form of microfracture surgery on his left knee. Even better for handicappers the over has gone 8-1. The reason behind the over’s success in D. C is easy to spot: Washington is good on offense and horrible on defense. The Wizards were ranked 12th in the league in offensive efficiency at touch time with 104.7 points per 100 possessions. And they were 23rd in defense at 105.3 points. But during Arenas’ absence the Wiz offense has actually become more potent. Before Arenas went on the shelf he was firing up 17.6 shots per game at a career-low 39 percent from the field – clearly still bothered by last year’s knee injury is now able to spread those shots around most notably to the remaining members of the Wizards’ Big Three. Caron Butler and Antawn Jamison. Butler in particular is playing lights-out with a 23.41 Player Efficiency Rating nestled in between Dirk Nowitzki and Yao Ming for 16th in the league. That’s some MVP company. Bench strength also plays a key role in Washington’s ability to score without Arenas. Butler and Jamison need support and they’ve gotten it from the likes of rookie swingman Nick Young (21.2 points per 40 minutes) the improving Andray Blatche (14.0 points. 9.8 rebounds/40) and seventh-year veteran Brendan Haywood (14.2 points. 11.6 rebounds/40). The Wizards weren’t getting that kind of production last year when at least one of the Big Three was invariably sidelined. By simply taking Arenas out of their typical starting rotation (including DeShawn Stevenson. Butler. Jamison and Haywood) and replacing him with Antonio Daniels the Wizards improve their effective field-goal shooting percentage from 43.2 to 50.8. It climbs even higher with Blatche in the middle at 59.7 percent. That unexpected boost won’t go unnoticed for too long; until it does. Washington should continue to defy the and keep filling up buckets. Their next opportunity comes Wednesday night against a visiting team that is learning the hard way about their lack of talent minus LeBron James. Tip-off is at 7:00 p m. Eastern with local coverage on Comcast Sports Baltimore.

"Blood Sport: Gearing up for Arenas" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-15 15:12:01

Every Thursday. V'Ming - who thinks that gnome warlocks are travesties of nature and need to be KOSed - shares thoughts and ideas on becoming deadlier at the Arenas. He also dabbles in the dark arts in convey you for your comments in my previous bind on "". The article must undergo struck a chord in many players and I hope to bring similar articles for other classes soon. I started with warlocks mainly because I'm most experienced with the class. The fact that they seem to be the most 'hated' categorise currently of course has nothing to do with it. ; )Much have been discussed about '' in PvP. Do new entrants have a come about against more established PvP toons? No. Can newbies gain a foothold eventually? Yes. New or inexperienced PvPers often get a rude surprise when they decide to act in rated Arena matches as soon as they hit 70. Targets that fall predictably suddenly become deadly PvP opponents who can kill your toon before you realize what's happening. Other than obvious accommodate differences the skills and experience that you have accrued during leveling simply do not cut it in the Arenas. In short it's a different roll bet. Fortunately you'll get better at Arenas or PvP in general by simply participating. Unfortunately getting better isn't a overnight process. Assuming that accommodate matching works correctly in the Arenas you should be matched up against opponents with comparable gear. However if you walked into a rated match with PvE blues you'd comfort probably be steamrolled in the current environment where Arena gear is so prevalent. While you can probably use PvP gear for PvE with no great loss the reverse is certainly less than optimal. PvE gear obviously lacks Resilience and Stamina - two important stats for any length of longevity in Arena combat. A freshly minted 70 with accommodate derived mainly from quests and instances is simply "not prepared" (to quote ). What can you do to close this gear gap?BattlegroundsIf you're keen to compete effectively in the Arenas as soon as you hit 70 get into the as soon as possible to accumulate honor. Get the (2,825 recognise) as soon as you undergo the honor. Using a Warlock as an example and keeping in object the of 75,000 your 'shopping enumerate' at 70 can be something like this: be honor required: 76,326 (and various BG marks). This enumerate is made with the objective of getting as many PvP pieces in as many slots as possible while minimizing the be of upgrades later on. I picked the Veteran's bind as an initial investment as you can unify it up with the later. The toughen 1 gloves and shoulders will lade with Merciless and Vengeful accommodate when you go away earning Arena points. Your immediate priority next should be the PvP. This set should serve as a good starting point. The time investment in acquiring PvP epics is significantly more flexible and less than raiding for epics. PvP epics can also be doubled up quite comfortably for PvE duties and this has been the subject of the '' debate. PvP gear from PvEThere are some. Of say are the that you can purchase in Terrokar plant with spirit shards from Auchindoun instances. If you must use PvE gear for PvP cerebrate on the following stats in decreasing order of importance:Stamina > Resilience > Crit/DPS/HealGenerally you should maximize Stamina without gimping your DPS or heals too much. Regeneration stats like and animate are useless in PvP. ArenasEven if you have invested in some PvP gear. initially in the Arenas. It's important to remember that by simply participating in 10 games per week you will accrue precious Arena points. No Arena means no points. No points mean no progress. If your team's rating has fallen to a inform where your inform obtain every week is simply not worth your time consider reforming a new team to go away anew at 1,500. Yes it ordain be you gold but it's better than grinding with no appreciable return. Besides accommodate other factors like aggroup and are important in Arena contend too. As you close the stamina and resilience gap also think about improving the team's bet and your personal skills. PvP epics alone won't win you matches. What other accommodate tips do you have to offer newbies? Do you evaluate it's a lost cause for latecomers to the Arena game?As usual these are the class representations for the top 100 US teams after last week's matches. Warlocks dominate the 2v2 bracket again while warriors and priests enjoy a good distribution across all brackets. More hunters are hovering at about 2.5% representation and be to be better represented in 2v2s compared to : It's not too late to be competitive at least to bring home the bacon up towards the Challenger/Rival ranks at the start. I didn't start Arena until about 6 weeks before the end of S2 and by the end of it. I had the S2 OH Mace the S2 boots go bracers belt and neck (that's strictly from BG honor farming). I made it as high as 1850 before finishing the season at 1775 or so enough to earn Rival. At the go away of S3. I had enough arena points to immediately buy 2x S3 pieces (channelise - gloves) and farmed enough recognise to fill my set with S1 pieces. So it takes a lot of BG effort at start to get 4 or 5 pieces of S1 but it's achievable if you put the effort in. And that's enough to alter you competitive in the ratings where you're earning 400-500 points a week. That's a new piece of gear every month or so. And arena lasts longer than 4 months so you can easily hit 4/5 S3 before then and grab the S2 shoulders to grade your S1 shoulders. The key is to spend as much time in BGs as possible fighting other players. You hit the books a lot and abstain. It's not perfect practice for arenas but it's a good start. I'm sorry... But how is it possible to do what you did?You said you joined 6 weeks before the end of S2. Got an S2offhand (1125pts) then at the beginning of S3 you got the s3 healm/gloves (1875/1125). That's 4125 honor in 6 weeks. Or and 1895 rating held for 6 weeks. I'm sorry but that's just not possible for a starting aggroup (which is what this article is about). Maybe if you were decked in T4/T5 aim raid gear and had an incredibly geared friend helping you.. that might undergo been feasible... But still very unlikely as no-resilance in arena = instant death. However if you did somehow manage this... Please post and explain how. Because if that is the inspect I would really like to know and I'm sure all of us would also. Oh and by the way the key is 2v2 - pure rushdown dual DPS focus fire stunlock/sheep cover Mage/Mace Rogue. When you suffer you suffer spectacularly. When you win you do so very easily change surface without PvP accommodate. Raid accommodate plus the strongest DPS combo will do it. Haha for once being a raider pays off in PvP... Moral of the story... If your just starting off in arena... Get assail accommodate and you'll comfort own in a burst dps 2x aggroup Yeah amasen it seemed the 1800 brackets were about the best we could do until resil really started to end us down. It's all about getting a partner that works with your class and playing on those strengths. At least over here on Mannoroth as Alliance farming the honor for BGs is pretty simple. I dinged 70 with 15k honor banked from leveling. Since then. I've had just over 1 days worth of play measure and I'm sitting with S1 chest shoulders gloves. S3 boots & the 2.8k trinket. I have done nothing but PvP but the effort - > epic go ratio is far skewed compared to PvE. If I PvE'd for 24 hours. I' d be ready to enter Karazhan and mouth *trying* to get drops. And unlike the Officer's quarters no BT/MH steal drops. My arena aggroup.

"Arenas Considered Leaving the Team?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-03 14:02:06

"I was just thinking contradict as far as my playing defense," said the 5-foot-9. 193-pound keep back remove safety from Tampa and a cousin of NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas. "I just can't really explain it. I wasn't being treated unfairly. It was just me. I had to make a decision in my life. I had to question whether I wanted to compete or not. ... Basically. I didn't experience if I wanted to proceed." Arenas said his dissatisfaction had nothing to do with his teammates whom he didn't want to let down. Arenas met with Saban who said that he would respect whatever decision Arenas made. "I experience he's been around it for many many years," Arenas said. "He's seen a lot of situations desire that. He told me I would regret it. ... [What Saban said] wasn't even about playing football. It was about academics and a great opportunity in my life. I couldn't let that go." We're certainly glad he decided to fasten it out. Thanks to reader CaptStu for the tip. To be quite frank. I imagine that thought passed through the mind of just about every player on the roster. Massive culture shocks can really create for some personal upheaval. Effectively turning winners into losers has never been easy. If anything it's a query that we haven't had more attrition than what we've experienced. I honestly expected worse. . that college kids (especially the 19 and 20ish underclassmen) are not the most emotionally stable people out there. When I was that age I had no idea what I should be doing and being a high compose player on a high compose football aggroup under some very high profile circumstances had to be very confusing for a lot of the players.
