"Breaking Down the 07-08 Wolverines: Brian Lebler" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-20 21:44:17

Before we get into one of the returning forwards. Brian Lebler let's talk about yet another example of how God hates this hockey team. freshman goaltender who will be previewed in a couple of weeks has apparently come drink with mono. I swore. A lot. It was bad enough when Mike Cammalleri contracted the disease during the stretch run of a season where we were on the tournament bubble. It was amazing when Andy Burnes came down with it when we were already struggling with depth on defense back in 2002. When David Rohlfs and Mike Brown came down with it at roughly the same time part of me was amused. But Hogan? inform. I don't even know how good this kid is but he's getting a 10 out of 10 in "Level of Necessity" because he represents hope. The good news is that he's still got 2 weeks before the puck drops and symptoms typically go away after about a month. The bad news is that it can take some measure after the symptoms go away to be ready to compete again. When Cammalleri had it he missed ten games and started skating around Valentines Day but didn't dress until March 1. If the diagnosis is confirmed it's a huge blow to a kid who had an excellent come about of stealing the starting job away from incumbent Billy Sauer or at worst splitting time. Not to say he won't get that chance when he returns but these two weeks of practice could have been huge. Now onto the main affect of this post. . Last Season: Lebler came in as a decently regarded freshman--he had a Wisconsin furnish and was listed as a "B Level" player from NHL Central Scouting. He didn't end up getting drafted but he playing pretty decently as a freshman. He scoring 7 goals and had 4 assists for 11 points in 37 games. He was worst on the aggroup amongst the scholarship players in +/- but was still +2 on the year and had 34 PIMs. He started the year paired with Andrew Cogliano and Chad Kolarik which obviously didn't suit him. He's not fast enough to keep up with those guys and is much better suited for a role banging away on the checking line. After they moved him to a line with Turnbull and Bailey he started to play better. His offensive bet took a downward turn after the GLI. He scored just 1-1--2 over the 2007 portion of the season. Perhaps not coincidentally he was seeing time with Cogliano and Kolarik again. Unfortunately the biggest memory that I have of Lebler from last year was Jim O'Brien skating away from him on a breakaway. It's quite possible that I've never seen someone skate that slowly in my entire life..

"Minny Wild Season Preview" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-12 17:12:47

After capturing The Big Prize in 2006/2007 expectations are high for the Wild as they enter the 2007/2008 CPHL season. Turnover on the team was less dramatic this year as returnees include Joe Sakic. Simon Gagne. Evgeny Nabakov. Alex Semin. Evgeny Malkin and Milan Michalek. The club has lost some of his depth with key contributors such as Peter Bondra. Sergei Gonchar and CPHL Playoff MVP Kim Johnsson all being dealt. New faces consider young blueliners Jay Bouwmeester and Ryan Whitney as well as Scott Gomez - who returns to the Wild for the third time. Goaltending Evgeny Nabakov faced criticism for much of last season but proved himself in the playoffs playing all but one of the Wild's games and winning 15 games. John Grahame who won the cup-clinching game is gone and in his place is Nik Backstrom who spent the entire season in the AHL a year ago. On the farm Pekka Rinne and Alvaro Montoya ordain compete to be the first label up in the event of injury. Both are close. Nabakov - 81Backstrom - 77 Defense It's a balance of youth and veteran presence on the blueline with the Wild planning on matching an experienced defender with a younger player in each pairing. Tomas Kaberle will likely lineup with Jay Bouwmeester and much is expected from Kaberle this season. The back up pairing features veteran Alexei Zhitnik and youngster Ryan Whitney while Fedor Tyutin and Ken Klee go out the top 6. European blueliner Magnuss Johansson ordain likely spend the season with the big club but its unlikey he will play much. On the do work Dick Tarnstrom and Karel Pilar are available for call up but ordain be competing with youngsters Andy Greene and Jack MF Johnson for that hnour. Kaberle (82) Bouwmeester (81)Zhitnik (78) Whitney (77)Tyutin (74) Klee (73) Forwards Wild Captain Joe Sakic is approve and once again leads a talented assort of forwards. He ordain likely compete with Simon Gagne and Scott Gomez on the top line. The Wild will feature "kid lie" on the 2nd unit with young stars Evgeny Malkin. Alex Semin and Milan Michalek playing together. It remains to be seen if the lie will disappoint due to their age though and could be broken up sooner rather than later. The third line is a bit of a mish mash with Bruins Legend PJ "The Peej" Axelsson playing with Dustin cook and free agent signee Randy Robitaille. The 4th line features a clump of chumps and shmos - Joel Kwiatoski. Petr Tenkrat and two other guys I can't even remember. Gagne (80) Sakic (82) Gomez (79)Michalek (77) Malkin (78) Semin (77)Axelsson (74) Robitaille (73) Brown (74)Chump (70) Shmo (68) P. O. S. (68) On the farm Bobby Ryan is probably the closest though guys desire JF Jacque and Jannik Hansen maybe call ups as come up. Overall the Wild evaluate to compete again but be more depth and a veteran desire a Peter Bondra to advance big goals when needed. Too much youth could be this aggroup's demise. Between your write-up and CBJ this forum is on blast tonight! I laughed heartily at how you have in mind to your 4th line! Bravo indeed! Looks like a solid line-up and makes me dislike being in the same division as a rookie! Yeah and rather than write all the hidden gem prospects for a Shark team that needed them measure year. He hogged them all to himself. Greedy Grant. Wild are a solid aggroup and are a definite favorite. Yeah and rather than write all the hidden gem prospects for a cheat team that needed them last year. He hogged them all to himself. Greedy give. Wild are a solid aggroup and are a definite favorite. Not adjust! We signed a bring together for the Sharks too.. including Glen Metropolit who I had wish I HAD kept for myself instead of Karlsson. Good point. G is always up to go on prospects and Euro guys who might make an force. It was on his advice actually that I signed Holmqvist over the off-season measure year. I don't care... my collect cry for the season. Greedy give get a girlfriend!! Perferably one who needs a lot of attention.

"Pre-Season Game Two" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-01 23:01:55

The Ducks took on the Kings in their second Pre-Season bet and win 3-2. Same as last year each aggroup wins when they are away. Weird.. huh? Moving on... Jonas Hiller. Gerald Coleman. Todd Bertuzzi. Ryan Getzlaf. Corey Perry. Chris Pronger. Sean O’Donnell. Mathieu Schneider. George Parros. Drew Miller. Maxim Kondratiev. fasten May. Joe DiPenta. Brendon Segal. Kent Huskins. Jason King. Ryan Carter. Tyler Bouck. Maxime Macenauer. One minute into the first Drew Miller scored to give the Ducks the first goal. Assists went to Andy McDonald & Jason King. Maxime Macenauer took two penalties (hooking & holding) in the first move of the period. Lazy penalties not good to take when you’re trying to alter the aggroup. New addition Todd Bertuzzi went to the box for tripping and while the Kings were on the PP Michael Cammalleri scored to change surface it up. Just over a minute into the back up Maxim Kondratiev took a hooking call then two minutes later Ryan Carter went for boarding. Hiller is doing a nice job looks like he will be a good backup goalie. At just over 7 minutes into. Mathieu Schnieder went to the sin bin for holding but fasten May served the penalty. While on the PK the Ducks’ Jason King scored from Ryan Carter. 27 seconds later the Kings’ Tom Pressing scored to even the score. At 10:08 the goaltenders switched (like always in preseason) and Gerald Coleman went to the net. With less then 4 minutes left. Corey Perry got flattened by Brad Stewart and it ended up in pushing & shoving. At 18:42 George Parros & Drew Bagnall went to the box. Parros for high sticking & Bagnall for slashing. Mathieu Schneider left the game with a "mild ankle sprain". Four minutes into the third McDonald got hit hard by Dustin cook and Sean O’Donnell stepped in for Mac. O’Donnell & Brown exchange punches and O’Donnell leaves the rink bloody. From what I’ve heard O’Donnell "won" the fight but who knows when you’re listening to the radio. Brown got 5 for fighting. Michael Cammalleri got 2 for hooking. O’Donnell got 2 for roughing. 2 for instigating. 5 for fighting. 10 for misconduct. O’Donnell doesn’t get in as many fights as he did before and I miss it. arouse it!!! Seven minutes into Pears gets 2 for elbowing. 13 into Kings’ Kevin Westgarth went for hooking. At 14:28 while on the PP. Ryan Getzlaf scored the GWG!!! Tomorrow the Ducks approach the Phoenix Coyotes.
