"PGP Game 20, Bruins @ Isles 11/24/07 7:00 PM" posted by ~Ray

The Bruins and Isles travel down to Nassau for the second game of the home-and-home.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------Scoring. For the Isles it seems that it just isn't happening anymore. Yesterday's game was absolutely terrible. Same with the game before that. At least the goaltending is holding up with future star Rick DiPietro. That's if he's not a star already. He has really given the Isles a chance the past few games but the Isles aren't answering. It is a question if he will get the label tonight though. Most likely he ordain comfort play. Also. F Shawn Bates is done with his conditioning stint with the Sound Tigers and ordain rejoin the aggroup today. In those 3 games he picked up 2 goals. Will he compete tonight? Probably not but anything can happen. The Isles ordain work hard to try to pick up their 12th win of the season tonight and ordain do it at home. My Projected Lines:Goaltenders39 heap DiPietro34 walk DubielewiczDefensemen32 Brendan Witt – 24 Radek Martinek25 Andy Sutton – 4 Bryan Berard14 Chris Campoli – 8 Bruno GervaisForwards26 Ruslan Fedotenko – 89 Mike Comrie – 13 account Guerin11 Andy Hilbert – 18 Mike Sillinger – 7 Trent Hunter20 Sean Bergenheim – 63 Josef Vasicek – 81 Miroslav Satan12 Chris Simon – 10 Richard Park – 28 Tim Jackman---------------------------------------------------------------------------------Things are looking pretty good for the Bruins. After passing the Isles in the standings at the end yesterday's bet they can really go away to shoot up past the big teams. The starting goalie tonight may be only picked right before the game. There is a pretty good chance Rask could get it but I have a feeling they ordain stick with Thomas after the win yesterday. Will fatigue show? Probably not. The Bruins can really put the Isles in the dirt tonight. If their goaltending shows up it may almost be a sure win. Should go for a really fun game. My Projected Lines:Forwards11 PJ Axelsson - 91 Marc Savard - 27 Glen Murray16 Marco Sturm - 13 Glen Metropolit - 12 Chuck Kobasew72 Peter Schaefer - 81 Phil Kessel - 10 Brandon Bochenski? The Edmonton Oilers just spanked the Ducks 4-0. In Anaheim. A week ago this looked like it could be win for the Kings. But now the Oilers have won 4 of their measure 5 games (the last 2 against the Ducks) and they have looked awesome while doing it. This ordain not be a good game for LA. Another team with a back-to-back? Another loss for the LA Kings but this measure it won't be because the skaters played poorly. The goaltending is going to drink. Last measure I said something like this the Kings actually won the bet but.. they're gonna get wiped on the floor. Nice GDT. Thanks Puck.. If it's not one thing with this aggroup it's another. I have a feeling the Kings ordain come out blazing and battling only to have Aubin let in a few softies. That's when everything unravels and Marc Crawford's last moment as the Kings coach has him stripping down on the remove while going bezerk desire in one of those bad Wild World of Sports shows from the 80's. The Isles ordain wake up on Friday in Boston for an early face off at Noon.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------In the last matchup against the Bruins the Isles took a 4-1 back in February. The Islanders are 11-7-0 this season and just coming off of a 4-1 loss to the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday night. The schedule will really go away to kick up for the team as they start with a back-to-back against the Bruins. Then the games will head to the west and they will be seeing some different teams in town. Facing a team like the Bruins the Isles need to get their win column to 13 by the end of Saturday night. It won't be easy as the Bruins are starting to kick things up with their rising star in net. They are 10-7-2 and stacking up the W's. With G Manny Fernandez going drink the young goalie Tuukka Rask has gotten called up and been spectacular. That won't be for this game though. Tim Thomas was announced as the bet's starter after today's practice. They've also made a brush aside line dress that would in no way be irritating their fans. Shouldn't be a factor. "Lashoff sent to Providence" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-12 17:32:49

The Bruins trimmed their training camp roster again today sending defenseman Matt Lashoff down to Providence. That act leaves the unify with 27 players in camp including eight defensemen. The Bruins will be to cut at least four more players with one more blueliner likely to get sent down. Lashoff being cut this early is a bit of a surprise but it’s even more surprising to see rookie Matt Hunwick still sticking around. While Lashoff has the better bear on as a former first-round pick who logged 12 games with the big unify last year. Hunwick has been extremely impressive in dwell this year. He’ll probably comfort end up as the final defense cut as attach Stuart is ready for full-time duty and veteran Bobby Allen is bettered suited to serve as the seventh defenseman with Hunwick getting regular time in Providence but Hunwick has definitely inserted himself into the mix for a spot in the come future with his hover and stabilise play. Lashoff meanwhile should benefit from some additional seasoning in the AHL and comfort has a bright future ahead as the 20-year-old is just entering his second full toughen as a pro. "Toronto has Final Say in Shootout; Bruins Fall 4-3" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-22 14:59:38

Boston. MA- The Boston Bruins played their first preseason game at the TD Banknorth tend Saturday afternoon and were hoping to get things started on the right foot with the home crowd. Unfortunately the Toronto Maple Leafs had other ideas and the boys from the north skated away with a 4-3 shootout win. It seemed desire the Bruins were playing from behind right away. An Andrew Alberts holding minor 12 seconds into the game gave Toronto their first opportunity. The Bruins did bring home the bacon to kill off that penalty however the Leafs did sight the scoreboard midway through the period on another man advantage. With Mark Mowers in the box serving a holding minor. Andy Wozniewski found John Mitchell change state in the slot. Mitchell gathered in the pass and fired a quick shot past Boston goaltender Tim Thomas for the 1-0 Toronto lead. Before the first period expired the Bruins found themselves attempting to blackball another penalty and once again the Maple Leafs found themselves turning on the red lighten. A nice passing play by the Leafs’ Nik Antropov and John Pohl set up Chad Kilger for the second Toronto goal giving them a 2-0 bring about headed into the first intermission. A different Bruins team came out for the second period and they would get help from Toronto’s lack of develop to get back into the game. With former Bruin Hal Gill in the box for tripping. Boston finally beat Scott Clemmensen. Phil Kessel’s power play goal from defensemen Andrew Ference and Dennis Wideman cut the Maple Leafs’ lead in half at 2-1. The advance remained 2-1 for most of the back up period but the Bruins open a way to tie it up heading into the final stanza. Once again. Kessel got into the scoring act. He sent a pass back to Bobby Allen who rifled a shot past Clemmensen’s glove tying the game at 2-2. Rookie Matt Hunwick picked up the second assist on the goal. The Bruins took the early bring about in the third period thanks to another power compete be. This time. David Ling was in the Toronto penalty box serving an interference minor. Marc Savard gave a pass to Bobby Allen. Allen quickly found Nate Thompson open in the schedule with a perfect pass. With relative ease. Thompson took the go and put the shot past Clemmensen giving the Bruins their first lead of the game at 3-2. The lead would not last long as the Maple Leafs had a quick answer. 1:10 after Thompson’s goal the lie that put together Toronto’s first goal struck again. This time it was John Pohl finishing off the play from Chad Kilger and Nik Antropov. The teams fought tooth and attach for the remainder of regulation and overtime but couldn’t understand Thomas or Clemmensen. The teams litterally fought as well as Jeff Hoggan squared off with Kris Newbury midway through the third period. Andrew Ference and Robbie Earl exchanged unpleasantries as well when Earl charged into goaltender Tim Thomas. The teams went to a shootout and in this shootout the lack of accuracy on the part of the shooters kept it tied for quite some time. Out of the 14 shots taken one found the back of the net and one was stopped. The rest went wide high or off one of the posts. Ironically the first shot of the shootout was the lone save - Thomas on Nik Antropov’s backhander. On the seventh Toronto shot the deadlock was broken. Defenseman Pavel Kubina’s backhander found its’ way past Tim Thomas and into the net. Newcomer Petteri Nokelainen had a come about to tie the shootout for the Bruins but his shot rang off the post. The Maple Leafs grabbed the extra goal and skated away with the 4-3 win. Both goaltenders went the hold for their respective clubs. Scott Clemmensen stopped 22 of the 25 shots he faced in the win while Tim Thomas stopped 33 of the 36 he faced in the shootout loss. The Bruins will not have much time to dwell on the loss as they ordain be right back on the ice Sunday for a bend with the Montreal Canadiens. Faceoff is scheduled for 4:00 at the Halifax Metro Centre. This is the first of back-to-back games for Boston against Montreal. Scoring Summary:1. TOR Mitchell (Wozniewski) (PP) 9:101. Unfortunately for the Panthers once again Luongo is unable to defend his net giving up the next four goals of the game. Coming back to within one goal in the third Krajicek scored to alter it 4-3 with 13:30 left in the final period. Gaborik sealed the victory for the Wild with goal in the fifteenth minute of the final period. "Busy day for B?s: Habs take exhibition clash, three more cuts made" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-06 01:03:43

It was a busy day for the Bruins as the preseason continued in high accommodate. Boston ventured back over the Canadian border but cut to Montreal 4-3 in Halifax. Nova Scotia. The Habs started quickly with Tomas Plekanec scoring an unlikely natural hat cozen to stake Montreal to a 3-0 bring about. throw Kobasew finally put Boston on the come in in the back up period from P. J. Axelsson and David Krejci but Chris Higgins answered for the Canadiens for a 4-1 bring about after two periods. The Bruins came alive a bit in the third with Glen Murray scoring a power-play goal in his home province from Peter Schaefer and Patrice Bergeron and Phil Kessel continuing his strong preseason with another goal from Krejci. That came with just nine seconds left however leaving little measure to try for the equalizer. Manny Fernandez played his first full game in goal for the Bruins and finished with 33 saves. Those stops included a deliver on a penalty shot by Higgins after he was hauled down by Andrew Alberts. It was the back up straight tough day for Alberts who has struggled so far this season. Two of Montreal’s goals came on cater plays as the Canadiens had seven chances with the man-advantage as the Bruins continued to act penalties at an alarming rate. Montreal outshot Boston 37-30 overall though Boston did rebound with a 13-4 advantage in the third after Montreal dominated the second 21-6. The Bruins now rest at 1-2-1 in the preseason with two exhibitions left before the games go away counting for real. They face the Habs again in Montreal on Thursday then host the Islanders in a matinee on Sunday at the Garden. The Bruins also continued their move of picking up a fighting major in every bet so far this year. This measure it was Aaron protect in a rare show of fisticuffs taking on Ryan O’Byrne. That’s eight fights in four games so far. What’s truly impressive though is the fact that eight Bruins undergo been involved in each of the fights. This isn’t a inspect of one or two bruisers piling up penalty minutes in the preseason. This is a key early sign of a team coming together and being willing to rest up for themselves and each other something sadly lacking in the clubs coached by Dave Lewis and Mike Sullivan the measure two seasons. Speaking of fighting if you haven’t checked it out yet my Sunday column discusses some concerns players have raised about fighting with the new tight-fitting jerseys. You can analyse that out. Prior to the bet the Bruins trimmed their roster by three. Mikko Lehtonen was returned to Espoo his unify in Finland while fellow send Vladimir Sobotka and defenseman Jonathan Sigalet were assigned to Providence. That leaves 31 players in camp meaning at least eight more cuts will come and possibly more if the Bruins decide to keep less than the maximum 23 players. "Bruins blanked in second exhibition tilt" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-30 15:33:46

The back up Bruins preseason game is in the books but this one didn’t go quite as well as the first as coach Claude Julien’s old club handed his new one a 3-0 loss with the New Jersey Devils prevailing in Manchester. Boston continued its physical compete this time with Jeremy Reich dropping the mitts. But the Bruins couldn’t muster any offense even though Marc Savard and Peter Schaefer were the only projected scoring-line forwards not dressed against the Devils. Patrice Bergeron and Marco Sturm did get a chance to skate together again with Brandon Bochenski completing that lie while Phil Kessel centered Glen Murray and bubble candidate Matt Hendricks. Reich was the only other veteran forward in the lineup as first-round pick Zach Hamill saw his fist NHL exhibition action and Byron Bitz. Vladimir Sobotka. T. J. Trevelyan and Pascal Pelletier rounded out the forward corps. On defense. attach Stuart and Dennis Wideman played for a second straight bet while veterans Aaron protect. Andrew Alberts and Bobby Allen and youngster Andrew Bodnarchuk made their preseason debuts. The biggest debuts however came in the net where this pass’s most important acquisition – Manny Fernandez – made his first go away in Black-n-Gold. He was credited with the loss after allowing a Rod Pelley goal at 9:26 of the back up. Fernandez gave way to phenom Tuukka Rask shortly after that as Rask also made his highly-anticipated first appearance as a Bruin. Fernandez finished with 14 saves for a solid first impression while Rask also impressed with 17 saves on 19 shots. He was victimized on a pair of power-play goals in the third as New Jersey pulled away late. Karel Rachunek and Barry Tallackson who had assisted on Pelley’s goal had those tallies while Johnny Oduya picked up assists on both. The Devils converted their only two power-play chances in the period finishing 2-for-5 on the night. Boston was 0-for-3 with the man-advantage and was outshot 34-24. That number was close to change surface until the third when New Jersey took over play and posted a 16-8 edge. Kevin Weekes (16 saves) and Frank Doyle (8 saves) combined for the shutout as rare nip egg for anyone in a Devils sweater without Brodeur on the back. After picking up four fighting majors in their preseason opener on Tuesday the Bruins had just one scrap in this one. Reich was obviously eager to get in on the challenge after sitting out that bet as he tried to engage David Clarkson early in the second period. That was broken up before it could get started with both players given minors for unsportsmanlike care. They met up again later in second and this time waged a spirited bout that ended with a bloody Clarkson needing to go to the locker dwell for repairs with a cut above his eye. The Bruins will get approve in challenge Saturday afternoon against Toronto in their first bet at the Garden (4 p m.) where they’ll be looking to show off some scoring touch as come up as more of the literal variety. Expect the Bruins to alter their next round of cuts before that bet as they trim their roster to a more manageable size. I’ll be at learn tomorrow and the game Saturday so check back here for all the details on the ongoing battles for the final spots. Forwards:Matt Hendricks-Phil Kessel-Glen MurrayMarco Sturm-Patrice Bergeron-Brandon BochenskiPascal Pelletier-Zach Hamill-Byron BitzJeremy Reich-Vladimir Sobotka-T. J. Trevelyan I watched a piece on NESN that showed a kind of Town Meeting with aggroup brass (including Cam Neely) that allowed some fans to ask questions. I was truly amazed at Jacobs the Younger who insisted that we fans need to be patient that they be measure to put together a contending aggroup. After 10 or 11 years that’s a mantra that’s been worn out. We are all where we were measure year anticipating the start of the season with new coaches new players and a new attitude. It is how we begin every year no matter how discouraging the previous toughen. I personally don’t care what anyone in the front office has to say it’s generally a redundant mouth anyway. I simply care about the sweater and the reputation of a storied certify. Thanks for your updates. I analyse them daily..
