"Recap: Flames torch Preds" posted by ~Ray

It’s almost time for trick or treating and Calgary players are going door-to-door in the NHL collecting multiple-point games for their fantasy owners. Find out the poolie specifics in this live post-game blogging session and see if Sidney Crosby and Henrik Zetterberg continued their long point scoring streaks too. Goaltending match-up: Dany Sabourin (.933 SV%) vs Josh Harding (.852 SV%) Key notes: Malkin-Crosby-Malone/ Christensen-Staal-Sykora/ Roberts on L3/ Recchi on L4 for the Pens with Rolston-Belanger-PMB/ Boogaard-Koivu-Parrish for Minnesota. Crosby (1G. 3A. +3. 4 SOG. 3 hits) now has points in ten straight so aside from the season opener against Carolina he’s been there for you every single game. This was the first game of the toughen where he scored more than two points but he also has four different 2-point games this year too. Coming off an 85-point rookie campaign expectations are clearly high for Malkin (2G. 1A. +3. 3 SOG. 4 PIM) this season. He has 5G. 11A with 10 PIM and 38 SOG in 11GP now. He’s basically on pace to match or beat last year’s stats so far. If the Pens continue to shift him to the wing and play him with either Crosby or Staal (no points. -1. 1 SOG. 15:01 ice time no PP) then Malkin’s already great value only increases. Malone (2A. +3. 2 SOG. 4 hits no PP) had one inform in six coming into this game and he’s generally gotten ice measure with quality linemates so tread cautiously with any add involving him. Clearly he’s in a exceed position than a lot of treat-of-the-weekers given his current assignment though. Sykora (1G. -1. 2 SOG. 1:14 PP) was on the PP unit with the big boys midway through the third period and he connected for Pittsburgh’s third goal. Gonchar (2A. 3 SOG. 1:14 PP) is likely tied with Phaneuf as my favourite fantasy D-man. SG had one point in four games coming in but this was his back up multiple point game of ’07-8 and he has 9 points this year. Sabourin (28 saves) earned this start for the Pens and he’s played fairly come up in each appearance. Teams are a little quicker to put in the back-up these days if the starter is struggling and the second guy is playing well but don’t worry if you own Fleury. He’ll be fine and the Pens will sight their bet. Backstrom. Gaborik and Demitra DNP again. Koivu (2A. +2. 8 SOG. 2:55 PP) only had one point in three coming in but if you’ve read any be blogs with Minny games you experience what kind of amazing season he’s having on the whole though. Rolston (1G. +1. 6 SOG. 2:25 PP) has goals in six of his past eight now. Burns (1A. -1. 4 SOG. 2 PIM. 1:19 PP) had gone four games without a point before tonight. Walz got slaughtered in the face-off circle tonight with a 3-13 mark while Crosby went 15-7. Key notes: Higgins-Koivu-Ryder/ Latendresse-Plekanec-Kovalev/ Grabovski-Smolinski-Dandenault for the Habs with Kovalchuk-Little-Haydar/ Perrin-White-Hossa/ Dupuis-Holik-Kozlov Kovalchuk (no points. 6 SOG) had 5 of his SOG in the first period and he had 36 SOG with six goals in 11GP headed into this one. He blew the winner past Price in the shootout. Kozlov (1G. +1. 3 SOG. 5:17 PP) has goals in two straight now after a really slow go away. Perrin (1G. +1. 1 SOG. 3:14 PP) got a goal tonight but given how much depth there is at centre (and he’s likely classed as a centre in your unify) you can likely do better. Hedberg (31 saves) played quite well for the Thrashers and this is exactly the kind of netminding they’ll be to have any shot for the foreseeable future. This was the second straight start for Price (31 saves) and the second straight game that ended with a shootout. He won the PIT bet when it couldn’t be decided in OT either. He was 2-1 with a 2.93/ .893 split coming in overall. Price had an impressive game with some timely saves and if Huet hadn’t played so well this year there’d be little disbelieve that determine has the goods to start for Montreal the rest of the way. Koivu (1A. 2 SOG) scored a sweet goal in the shootout but I thought he could have been a bit classier… after all he could have at least offered to choose up Hedberg’s jock after Koivu deked him out of it. There is really no explaining he who calls himself Kovalev (1G. 1A. -1. 2 SOG. 6:14 PP) but the man is scoring goals at a pretty sweet clip right about now. He has markers in six of his past nine games now. Higgins (1G. 4 SOG) scored late to tie this bet and don’t look now but he’s got nine points in 11GP. At the end of the ’05-6 season he finished with 20 points in his final 25 games and those should be the kind of stats we can expect from him if not better when he’s healthy. Last year was somewhat of a write-off. Goaltending match-up: Mikael Tellqvist (.960 SV%) vs Manny Legace (.926 SV%) Key notes: Carcillo-Reinprecht-Doan/ Hanzal-Mueller-Vrbata for the Coyotes with Kariya-Tkachuk-Boyes/ Perron-Weight-Backes for the Blues Legace (25 saves) had won five of six starts with a 2.14/ .920 split on the season coming into this one against Phoenix. Despite the late goals against tonight he comfort managed to improve on his peripherals. Boyes (1G. -1. 2 SOG. 4:40 PP) is scoring plenty of goals this toughen. He’s got nine goals after this one tonight which is pretty staggering for 10GP overall. Tkachuk (1A. -1. 1 SOG) had ten points coming into this one (only 4 PIM on the year strangely) and Kariya (1A. +1. 2 SOG) who completes that number one unit has 14 points overall. Zigomanis (1G. +1. 1 SOG. 12:52 ice time. 0:13 PP) scored his second goal and inform of the season to tie the bet in the third. Michalek (1A. +1. 2 SOG. 2:05 PP) picked up his first point in his third game in ‘07-8. Sjostrom (1G. +1. 4 SOG. 2 PIM. 14:22 ice time. 0:41 PP) scored the GWG and has five points in the only five games in which he’s played this season. Goaltending match-up: Chris Osgood (.938 SV%) vs Dwayne Roloson (.941 SV%) Key notes: Red Wings opened with Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Holmstrom/ Hudler-Filppula-Samuelsson/ Franzen approve and on L4/ Oilers had Penner-Stoll-Gagne/ Torres-Horcoff-Hemsky Yep. Zetterberg (1G. 6 SOG) scored again and his point streak is at 13 games now this season. Datsyuk (1G. +1. 2 SOG) had a seven-game point move (nine points) stopped. Holmstrom (no points. 2 SOG) had a four-game streak going and had actually only been shutout against San Jose October 18th. Rafalski (1A. 4 SOG) had 10 in 12 coming in and he’s fit right in since replacing Matt Schneider. Lidstrom (1A) has a five-game back up streak going after going five without one. Stoll (1A. 1 SOG. 5-7 face-offs) has points in two of three. Tarnstrom didn’t do himself any favours with a costly gaffe on the GWG by Filppula (1G. 1 SOG). Osgood is 6-0 on the season and he actually managed to improve upon his sparkling 1.60 GAA and.930 SV%. Goaltending match-up: Chris Mason (.848 SV%) vs Miikka Kiprusoff (.975 SV%) Key notes: Tanguay-Conroy-Iginla/ Huselius-Langkow-Nolan open for the Flames with Erat-Arnott-Dumont/ Fiddler-Legwand-Radulov for the Preds. It just would not be a game unless Iggy (2G. 1A. +2. 8 SOG) had at least a couple of points. He has six of them (multiple-point outings) now on the season already believe it or not. That’s 19 points in 12GP. Langkow (2A. 4 SOG. 5:14 PP) has 17 points and this was also his sixth multiple-point outing. Tanguay (3A. +2. 1 SOG) has four of them on the year and three of four have go in his past 5GP. Huselius (1G. 1A. 5 SOG) has five 2-point games now too. Phaneuf (no points. +1. 4 SOG. 4 hits) led the team in ice time again with 29:51. Aucoin (no points tonight. +1. 2 SOG. 2 PIM) was next at 22:10. Aucoin had points in three of four coming into this one. Kipper (39 saves) has won five of his last eight starts. Headed into tonight he had one game of one goal allowed and one bet of two… the rest were all three or four per contest. Radulov (1G. -1. 3 SOG. 17:20 ice time. 4:10 PP) broke Kipper’s shutout in the third period. The winger has points in back-to-back outings after getting two assists in his last game. Nashville ordain start scoring goals regularly before too long and as long as Radulov continues to see decent ice time he can be a solid contributor on the wing in most formats. Zidlicky (1A. 4 SOG. 6:49 PP) has points in two straight so maybe he’s coming to life. He can comfort be a key PP QB for fantasy owners. Suter (1A. 5 SOG. 6:12 PP) has points in two straight after one in eight prior to that.

"Passing plays prevail once again!" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-10-18 05:24:21

Well we asked our Warriors to remember how they played last week and try to duplicate the performance and they did it again! Except I have to say our passing has improved even more over the course of the week! From the opening kick-off you were hungry for the ball and after winning possession you very rarely kicked it away to the other team. Your heads were up looking for the passing lanes and more often than not you had more than one teammate showing for the ball. Great job on using the support up front square and and back if needed. Excellent work on taking the ball to the attacking corners and using your support behind you. This gets the opposition chasing and allows you to pass the ball around until you get a good path to the net!Our defensive lines were strong today led by Sammy who had a fantastic game. She was tight on her checks and always used her size to 'guide' the Bays attackers to the outside. Great patience back there today Sammy in not diving in to a tackle and simply containing the attack and keeping it out of our danger zone! Good support today as well by Sid. Court and Maia! Our midfield was key in today's performance with an outstanding game by Bri who was displaying some amazing foot skills and quick lateral moves. She was aggressively winning battles and using her speed and excellent moves to open up space which allowed her to distribute the ball to the feet of her teammates. Speed and tenacity lead to her first goal and a cracker of a left foot shot that skimmed the cross bar made it a 3-0 game (at that point). She was wearing the 'hand-me-down' golden boots from Bryan Taylor who is currently playing in Scotland for two weeks and I'm sure Bry is surprised he left some goals in them;)Another strong game from Maddy who continues to be a key ball winner. She came up with an amazing header today as well! Marisa put in another strong performance with some great moves and excellent passing plays on the front line in the 1st half. Amanda used her speed and long stride to create a couple of great scoring chances and really made and excellent run and an even better strike at one point that the Bays goalie had to make an amazing save on. She managed to stay strong on the ball and her hard work today lead to an eventual goal! And then there's Taylor.. her 'wheels' came in good use today as she played a very offensive role. She had to have a good touch on the ball today as well because of the constant passing going on and the likes of Maddy. Bri. Michelle. Jessica. Teah and Marisa constantly pinging balls up to the speedy striker. I know she got one great goal and may have netted another to cap off a very strong performance! And what can we say about our keeper? Although not tested very often she made a few great stops and continues to do a great job controlling her 18. To get her more involved she came out and promised Coach Tim that she wouldn't allow any shots on our 2nd half goalie. Marisa;) Although I think one or two shots made it through (which Marisa made some incredible saves on) Cassy certainly showed that she is still very good out of the net as well! All in all you played an excellent positional possessional game. You're playing very well as a team. As you know this is not U9. 10 or U11 soccer where you could get away with trying to dribble through your opponents. This is U12 Gold and the only way to achieve success on the field is as a team. Passing and support are key elements of this game and it's great to see you all embracing the tactics so well. Be proud of your efforts and keep up the excellent work at all of your training sessions as they are obviously giving you the skills you need to play excellent soccer! Bri draws in a crowd of Bays before laying off a pass. All smiles at the cool down after another well played game... Sid-what's in your mouth;) All games (home and away) are 12:30pm. Our home field is JDF #1 (prime time prime field!) 35 minute halves full field size 5 ballremember..."good soccer players are never 'on-time'.. they're early!"Round 1Sept. 6 - Home vs. GorgeSept. 13 - Home vs. CBSept. 20 - Bye (up island exhibition?)Sept. 27 - Away vs. GHOct. 4 - Home vs. Bays U. "BLOG BOX REPORT - NYI 3, PIT 2 Al Arbour gets No.740" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-01-18 00:21:17

I have been thinking about what to write about seeing "Radar" behind the bench at Nassau Coliseum measure night and I have come up with this. Memories. Plain and simple memories are what came to the forefront of my object. Memories of Arbour drinking from Lord Stanley's cup. Memories of Arbour holding the cup up high and drinking much deserved champagne after a cup victory. Hearing about how Arbour held a little practice session with himself and a rookie named Denis Potvin for missing a aggroup bus. Arbour wringing every bit of performance he could out of the players he coached. alter no mistake populate coaching in hockey is not desire managing in baseball. A coach can and does cause the outcome of games seasons and playoff series. Arbour you can make a case was as important to the amazing run the Islanders had than anyone else. That is why his brand spanking new "1500" banner now hangs from the rafters of the Coliseum. Lets get into the behind the scenes happenings shall we?I made sure I was early to avoid missing any of Arbour's walk to the bench. Glancing at the media notes its a thrill to see "Head Coach - Al Arbour". The crowd tonight is especially pumped. Chants of "Ar-Bour" are heard throughout the arena which is great to hear because it has been 14 years since Al was behind the bench. Announced as a sell out crowd saves me from having to bash the Islanders fan base. Tribute video later and the red carpet is rolled out here he comes the man himself. Crowd erupts and Al looks genuinely touched. Arbour has his say pad and pen and keeps in his left inside jacket pocket as he always did. Ceremonial puck drop and here comes... SCOTTY BOWMAN? Arbour is especially happy to see Bowman and the fans show Bowman the consider he deserves as the two greatest coaches in the history of hockey move hands at the bench. Following Bowman out is BILL TORREY. Ceremonial puck drop is complete and the national anthem is sung and were create from raw material for the puck to displace. I usually do not get into the happenings of the game but I will now because of the way the game unfolds and how fitting the outcome was. Al Arbour coached the Islanders to three of the most amazing playoff series victories against the Pittsburgh Penguins. We have all heard about the seven bet series won when drink 3 games to none. We have heard about coming back after being down 3-1 with 6 minutes to play and storming back to win not only the game but the series propelled by Arbours goalie dress that gave the top cater Play unit measure to rest. But the one that I ordain bequeath perhaps just as if not more fondly than the others is quite honestly the biggest upset in NHL history. The Pittsburgh Penguins in 1992-93 were by so far and away the beat team in hockey everyone and I do mean everyone had them written in as the 1993 Stanley Cup Champions and who could blame them? They finished the season with 119 points. 367 goals for. A record setting 17 bet winning streak AND oh yeah they were the two time defending Cup Champion. They had Mario Lemieux. Jaromir Jagr. Ron Francis. Larry Murphy. Tom Barrasso. heap Tochett. Kevin Stevens. Martin Straka among others. Their coach? Some guy named SCOTTY BOWMAN. Don't forget that Pierre Turgeon the best offensive player on the Islanders as the measure was out because of that infamous Dale Hunter cheap shot. It was a slam immerse right? There was no chance the Islanders could win one game in this series let a desire the series itself. come up don't tell Al Arbour that. He challenged his players not to be intimidated. He willed that aggroup to a remarkable 7 game overtime victory! Listen.. err read to how this happened. The Islanders were up 3-1 in game be 7 - A remarkable feat being everyone and his mother has the Islanders getting swept. Pittsburgh was not about to let their championship run go without a contend scored two late goals to tie the bet and send it to overtime. It was Arbour that got his Islanders to direct their heads up and cognise that they still had just as much of a chance to win the game as the Penguins did and not to let what just transpired get the best of them. So what happens? History does NOT change itself and furnish the Penguins the win. David Volek who spent a LOT of time in the vaunted Arbour dog house scores the winning goal and sends the Islanders to the Semi Finals. You can talk about Glenn Healy standing on his head you can talk about Volek's heroics you can talk about all of that but what the one guy that deserved the most credit for the victory was Al Arbour. So.. After all of that history of huge playoff success against the Penguins the Islanders choose the Penguins as their opponent for number 1500. They fall behind 2-0. The Islanders could really just fold up to the compel of trying to win one for Arbour but guess what. 3 Un answered goals one with 2:41 left in the 3rd gives Arbour his 740th win. Say it isn't so one more come from behind win against a favored Penguin team. Chants of "Arbour" are replaced with chants of "740" The players congratulate Arbour despite the fact that he gives all credit as he always does to the players. They bring out the entire Arbour family. They carry out the Islander Alumni including all the names you know and a very nice surprise in Pat LaFontaine. They lower the "739" banner and raise the new "1500" banner. In a very nice comprehend the conceive of you see at the top of the check shows the current Islanders the former Islanders and the Arbour family posing for a Kodak moment that Islander fans are sure not to forget any time soon. After that this blogger still has a job to do. Walking to the back this time is a surreal experience. Theres Bossy. Trottier. I exchange hellos with Gillies who is always a class act. I turn the wrong way and walk almost directly into Mrs. Arbour before I can congratulate her some guy cuts in front of me. That guy? SCOTTY BOWMAN~! Theres LaFontaine. Gerry Hart. We go into the instruct interview room that is buzzing more than normal as reporters are crowding around the podium. I am flanked by Gillies and Jean Potvin who is standing on a chair so he can see the guy he respects so much speak. Arbour of course deflects any and all praise for the win to Nolan and the Players. He thanks the fans for staying so long after the bet and said he was truly touched by the show of affection after so long. He says that he wasn't sure that anyone would remember him and was touched by his reception by the fans and the respect the players showed him. Gillies and Potvin have smiles on their faces the whole time Arbour speaks. He says he doesn't miss coaching and enjoys what he is doing now the most nothing. He gets many chuckles from the room as his wit is as sharp as ever. He goes on to say that he likes the current team because they work very hard alter after alter and when you compete like that you will undergo a chance to win every bet you play despite the lack of superstars on the team. Al did say that for 5 minutes in the 2nd period the team played poorly (My words not his). He thanks the fans and the organization one more time and alter his way to what I hope was a fun and well deserved after party. Coach Nolan is up next and he looks happy as a clam. Nolan goes on to talk about the events that led up to Arbour coaching the game. He talks a little more about the game and how the team doesn't furnish up. He said that DiPietro got hit in the eye with Crosby's fasten but that was refuted later by Chris Botta saying the he got hit around the eye..

"Checkin in with Baby Jackets?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-20 21:55:44

Starting with the Syracuse Crunch…they’re not exactly tearing up the AHL…but Derrick Brassard is tearing up the league.  Brassard is #5 in the AHL in 8 games played he has 3 goals and 7 assists.  Joakim Lindstrom has 5 goals and 3 assists.  Scott Howson has said that. “We had a good conversation,” Howson said. “I told him to keep focusing on what he’s trying to accomplish in Syracuse and not to mind about Columbus. He said that he had a little trouble with that the first week of the season but not now. That’s his team now and he wants to do well.” Howson also said the Blue Jackets ordain not recall Brassard based solely on his point production. Instead they want to see Brassard scoring points in the right way with the necessary resolve to show that he’s up to the rigors of the NHL. “I’m not there with him every day so I can only judge by what our coaches and scouts are telling me,” Howson said. “But the reports are that he’s showing up at the rink long before practice that he’s watching video … and those are all good signs.” As much as I think Brassard will help the Jackets I don’t want to call him up too early I be him to develop as a player.  He’s our number 1 center in the future…and when that happens it’ll be great. but I’m willing to wait. Now for my favourite prospect Stefan Legein of the Niagara Ice Dogs.  In 12 games played he has 10 goals (2 shorties) and 8 assists while tallying 46 penalty minutes.   The alter winger can’t alter the big time soon enough.  He fits our clubs personality so well we’re tough and hard to play against and that’s what he is.  I do intend on going up to see him play…at some point but we’ll see. Jakub Voracek our be 1 draft pick in 2007 has 3 goals and 19 assists in 8 games played.   . “The guy is averaging more than three points a game. It’s amazing,” said Monast. “He’s everywhere on the ice and it’s unbelievable what he’s doing. He finds everyone on the ice and he makes the game really easy for the other guys. He makes everyone better. Steve Mason our is on blast!  In 7 games played he has 7 wins a.947 save percent and a 1.86 goals against average.  The London Knights were 0-6-0 in their first 6 games and now that Mason is approve they undergo yet to lose a bet.

"Gm # 14: Wild vs. Flames (2/8)" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-12 02:41:04

Second chances are one of the best things the sports world offers to players and fans alike. Redemption is both sweet and generally readily available. Conversely playing a aggroup soon after vanquishing them gives you an opportunity to really make a statement. Such was the re-create as the Wild faced off against the NW division rival Flames on Saturday night. denote that it was the same Flames - with a solid history of beating up on the Wild - who ended the Wild's undefeated go away to the toughen and with a stunning resounding come-from-behind victory no-less a mere 10 days prior. Since then the Wild have been losing games and giving up fasten to the Flames and the come down in the division. Indeed. Saturday's game offered Calgary a come about to take the bring about in the division with a regualtion win. In the last bet the Wild dominated the first period (ultimately building a 3-0 lead) only to see it change integrity away for an eventual 5-3 loss. In Saturday's game the Wild got off to a similar go away. But this measure the Wild were able to hold the lead and ended up finishing off the Flames in a strong 4-1 effort. Stevie Ray Veilleux had another strong bet at both ends of the rink and nearly set up Radio off the opening face off. communicate who can't end to save his life worked tail off too and was rewarded at the end of the bet with an empty-netter. The third member of that lie was Mikko Koivu who apparently can do anything Lemaire asks of him - and do it well. Koivu continues to affect me as the most complete player on the aggroup. Those guys were primarily tasked with shutting down noted Wild-killer Jarome Iginla - and they did save for an amazing tip in at the end of the back up period. In other news. Gaby's approve! He scored twice and had a bring together other very nice moves. As a bonus his first goal was on a breakaway - where he has some well-documented issues. His second goal was equally promising in that it was A) on the power play and B) a result of him being and going to work in the lie of the net. Finally. Backstrom redeemed himself after his brutal outing against the Flames last time out. He stopped several redirections and made key saves all bet desire. The Flames were not without chances and Backstrom was the answer more-than often enough to be a difference in the bet. Young Shep continues to show that he's not afraid of the Show and has the game to contribute. He did not look out of place on his shifts with Gaby and Demo.... Although Demo did leave the game in the back up period with a "leg injury". Coming so soon after his previous groiner there is certainly some concern there. Boogey had a long fight with Godard (one of the very few with a legit come about at beating Boogey in a contend) and did not return after with an injured transfer. Carney earned his paycheck with one brilliant play breaking up a go and setting up Sheppard's outlet pass to a cherry-picking Gaborik for the breakaway goal. JL has been saying that Carney's compete had not fallen off from last year but it was just a numbers game. I don't compassionate what game it is. Carney has to be in the lineup. The whole defense is calmer and steadier when he's in. I experience he let in three goals and took the loss but Kipper was very good in that bet. He made that egest sign save on Radio was screened on the Rolston goal maybe would undergo liked the Gaby breakaway back and was left all alone with two Wild players on Gaby's PPG. He made as many big saves as Backstrom did. All-in-all it was another solid Finnish Goalie Battle Royale. CHICKEN LITTLE SAYS: exceed. Though now with show out we'll see if Gaby puts out or pouts. POLLYANNA SAYS: There was the 60-minute effort we've been looking for!BOTTOM lie: Redemption Song. Evened the toughen series with Calgary and put down the arise. continue: Gaby. 2-1-3 and a very strong bet overall. Proved that he is absolutely comfort our most deadly offensive threat. DUD: advance. Got a raw deal on a big shot that hit the affix but otherwise was the worst defender on the ice. comfort won't hit (change surface when he's in a contend - nice take drink. Sally!) and is a worse finisher than communicate. UP NEXT: Edmonton. Monday. Also. Russo's reporting that. NiNY NOOOO! Not allowed. Walz!Foster completely embarassed himself in that "contend". Good to see Backstrom back change surface though I realized he was playing too late to put him in for my fantasy aggroup. Yeah when they work with Foster on fighting they should just express him to imagine the opponent is the furnish behind the net and he'll hit him every time! Hahaha good call. You should submit that to the team as "friendly advice" or something along those lines. Up down drink up. Pouliot sent back drink to Houston. anticipate he didn't make much of an force in his three Wild chances just over minutes of ice measure per bet and no points. The Aeros undergo improved slightly after the horrible go away. 4-5-0-1 now after two wins this past weekend. Our Man Cal was quiet. Voros had a shootout win and Reitz leads the team with 12 points. Should the organization be held responsible (ie financially) when a player does something stupid/injures another player? "Pens v Devils (W 5-0)" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-06 01:03:40

Tonight the New Jersey Devils welcomed the Penguins to their new Prudential Center (The move back and forth). Again. I will be recapping this game in between periods as I think it's nice for you late-nighters to have the resume available immediately following the game. The game began with a interference call on (a call that prompted to say what looked to me and my preserve desire "Bad f*cking label!"). The Devils did not score on the power play. Shortly after the penalty ended after the go ended the next play tripped or cut (I didn't see what caused it) and slid into the boards - HARD. Hall was no worse for wear however as it didn't even seem to phase him had a great come about and shot the puck on goal but made the deliver. Later the Pens were all over the goal and Brodeur was way out of lay when the Pens got a shot but sacrificed his body and lay down in lie of the goal to block it. Big took the second penalty of the night when he exchanged "pleasantries" (construe: a hit in the continue) with. Asham did not take the bemock and the Devils would go on the cater play. The Devils did not advance on this come about either. At the end of Laraque's penalty. Sid was out on the penalty killing unit. He made some sweet spinning moves but didn't get a advance. The Devils finally made their first mistake of the night when was penalized for holding the stick of. Sidney would make the Devils pay for the infraction by scoring a power compete goal. The Pens now have at least one power play goal in each of the 14 games of this toughen so far. Additionally. Sidney has scored at least a point in 13 games in a row. (The only game he didn't get a point in was the 1 The second period started with a few good chances by both teams. A few minutes into the period the Devils turned the puck over to Malkin who was in the Devils' zone with. Malkin was on his way towards Brodeur when he was tripped earning a delayed penalty. But you know Malkin - he's got his own moves that are as insane and incredible as Saint Sid's. As he fell he landed on his knees and passed the puck behind his back to Sykora who promptly negated the penalty by blasting the puck behind Brodeur. The alter pass from Malkin would become the play of the game and the advance was now 3-0. Later was assessed a high sticking penalty for clocking in the approach with his fasten. There was a moment when the puck was on the goal line but Brodeur was able to use his toe to kick it out. Since the entire puck must be over the goal line it was not a goal. The Pens did not score on the cater play but just afterwards a give and go between and resulted in a goal that Crusher blasted past Brodeur. The advance was now 4-0 and I finally began to change state. Then had a big hit on almost simultaneously as high-sticked Orpik. Immediately on the ensuing power compete had a come about but he rang it off the goal post. The Penguins did not score on this cater play and the period would end with the Pens leading 4-0. The third period began with the Penguins just owning the puck in the Devils' zone. Three and a half minutes into the third. Orpik sent a alter pass to Sidney who promptly smacked it into the net behind Brodeur. The advance was now 5-0. After allowing 5 goals on 24 shots. Brodeur was pulled from the ice in favor of putting in between the pipes. Then on the next play. Weekes had to approach a BLAST of a shot from Malkin who would have scored had the puck not hit the crossbar. (I evaluate that ring could be heard all the way approve in Pittsburgh!!!) Later. Roberts had a great chance but Weekes made a great glove deliver. Clarkson got called for tripping and the Pens went on the advantage yet again. The Pens were unable to score on this cater play. Immediately after the Devils killed that penalty. Parise tried to make a mark on the board but was unable to do so. Later fired a shot on goal but Weekes made another great deliver. The Penguins would go on the power compete yet again. Crusher tried to advance with a one-timer but missed the goal. Staal made a shot down low but again Weekes denied him. The Pens would not score on this power compete either. The move back and forth announced the attendance at 14,000 - not exactly a sellout bet in the 17,000+ capacity arena. With 5 minutes left in the third period and the Penguins up 5 - zip it looks as though 10,000 of those people undergo already left the building. Crusher gunned a hard shot on goal but he was just wide of the goal. instruct Therrien likes to mix up the lines (A LOT) but just as he found something in the Malkin-Crosby-Malone lie it appears that the Recchi-Roberts-Christensen line seems to be a good match too. Crusher got assessed a holding penalty with just over 2 minutes left to go in the third period. During the measure minute of the power compete there were Penguins bodies literally flying everywhere trying to prevent the Devils from scoring. The Penguins ended up taking another penalty with 30 seconds left to go in the period. The Devils found themselves having 14 seconds with a 2 man advantage. The Penguins won the faceoff.

"David Beckham in the Big Apple making his first MLS start" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-30 15:33:31

Tickets were selling fast. 60,000 of those as advance purchases and the atmosphere at the Giants Stadium in East Rutherford. NJ was truly electric. Amazing how a team averaging a little over 11,000 spectators per game now played in front of a nearly sold out stadium. Needless to say that David Beckham may have had something to do with it. First half kickoff and the New York Red Bulls were all over the Galaxy for the first minutes of the be. The domiciliate team needed 4 minutes before Juan Pablo Angel scored from a free impel. I was a bit concerned about him especially Xavier being out due to an injury. However the visiting Galaxy needed only 2 minutes from New York’s go-ahead goal to tie the game with Carlos Pavon’s header assisted by guess who…yep it was David Beckham recording his first go back up in the MLS. Carlos Pavon strikes again only a few moments later with a brilliant header assisted once again by number 23. David Beckham. The roaring displace and the players’ extra emotions caused a few nasty looking tackles and even Becks got a bit disturb. The bet continued with both teams creating great scoring opportunities and I was already hoping that Los Angeles would be able to act a breather at the half measure leading by one goal but Clint Mathis of the Red Bulls tied the game in the stoppage time. The first half was back and forth action and the fans of soccer were able to experience Beckham’s precise passes. Carlos Pavon being on blast scoring both of the Galaxy’s first half goals. Landon Donovan’s explosive speed and some excellent saves by the Galaxy goaltender Joe Cannon. Beckham was limping a little bit during the first half but I’m hoping he ordain be able to play at least move of the second half. Halftime and I’m going to be to do something to make my pulse go drink. back up half and I was happy to see Beckham starting. Pavon had another great attempt in the first minute from Beckham’s pass but without the desired prove. The fans of the domiciliate aggroup got what they wanted and saw another go-ahead goal this measure scored by Jozy Altidore. Looks desire both teams left their defense in the locker room so many good scoring chances there has been. Not to mention the total number of 5 goals at this point. Somehow I have a feeling that there ordain be more. The back and forth challenge continued and now it was Altidore’s move to advance his second goal. Galaxy’s young defense wasn’t able to stop the talented striker. I blinked and missed LA coming approve within one goal alter after Landon Donovan decides that the game is not over until it’s over and scores. Unbelievable challenge continued when Beckham shot corned impel be eight and the rebound off the affix was put in the net by Edson Buddle. The game was tied again and 66,237 fans who arrived to watch the bet at the stadium are getting their monies worth and more. And there was more to go; now it was Red Bulls’ move to score and Angel gets his second goal of the night. Joe Cannon got a piece of the rebound but was unable to get the roll outside. Great effort though. Four minutes stoppage time was not enough for the Galaxy to go approve and tie the game anymore and the domiciliate team wins the match 5-4. Nine goals scored over 66,000 in attendance. Beckham playing the entire game and enough highlights to use 30 minutes of ESPN’s Sports bear on. The Big Apple received a soccer show that will hopefully ignite the interest in the city. What a bet! Soccerfinn Jani signing out. ‘til next measure.

Hello everyone,Hope that all of you had a good week. Posting again from the same room as measure week. How fun it is. remove Agency was an absolute craze as during the first bring together of hours really nothing happened. The first signing of all populate was Todd White who went to Atlanta and got one hell of a contract in my opinion. 9.5 over 4 years is quite high for third lie bear on. come up the high rolling continued but what maybe the most interesting furnish of this remove Agency was contract length. Since players are becoming younger at the measure of free agency the assure length is becoming long. Drury five years. Briere eight years. Gomez seven years. A lot of players also signed contract extensions of five to seven years and it is the newest turn. Now the biggest risk with this is if a player completely bombs and they are stuck with a high assure and with one hell of a length. I convey that team can be in a very extreme position if they have an 5 to 8 million dollar cap hit for 4 more years on a guy you cannot get rid of. Six million is a hell of a lot for a minor unify player in the AHL as well. The Rangers of cover made the biggest splash by signing Drury and Gomez. Two players who were rumored to go many other places ended up in the Big Apple. Now these two players are going to fit in great with the Rangers offense. The only thing I mind about with the Rangers is they really undergo no feature defense man. I experience it worries Glen Sather as he is going to undergo to go with a bring together of guys who do not have much experience in at the NHL at all. They will score a ton of goals though but who knows if the defense ordain hold the other team. Henrik Lundqvist is a great goalie but any goalie will have a hard measure if he has to make 10-15 great saves a game. He'll steal a couple but how many can he. The Avs improved as they picked up Ryan Smyth and Scott Hannan. This is a great position for the Avs as they choose up another shelter defense man in Hannan who ordain inform Colorado fans of the days of having Adam Foote. Smyth along with Sakic has a chance in my object to advance 40 to 50 goals. I think it is not out of his range with a Super Star center in Joe Sakic. Sakic had 95 points measure year so it is hard to say that he over the hill. They are now a playoff aggroup this year and will over take a aggroup to get in. Another aggroup who also made a disperse was the LA Kings. Where some teams got one or two players. Dean Lombardi ended up signing a whole line. He solidified the offense with Ladislav Nagy. Michel Handzus and Kyle Calder. None of these guys had stellar seasons but Lombardi knows the talent that each player has and now he has to hope they create. On the back like LA grabbed Brad Stuart and Tim Priessing. With these two signings I accept LA has an amazing defensive core. Adding those two with Jack Johnson. Rob Blake. Lubomir Visnovsky and Jaroslav Modry they have six all around defensemen. I think the Kings could surprise populate but then again they could just collapse as they still have no clue in goal. Anaheim had a hard measure this pass. They still have no roll if Scott Niedermayer or Teemu Selanne ordain retire. That's nice for Brian Burke as now his hands are tied. They signed Mathieu Schneider as a approve up plan to Niedermayer. Now Schneider is a great player anyway but that makes the Ducks have three of the top defensemen in the game. What could bite Brian bump off in the ass was the signing of Todd Bertuzzi. What style of Bertuzzi do you get the old player before he tried to decapitate Moore or after where he didn't comprehend anyone for about five months. He could be a complete disaster or a master choose. Outdoor bet. Buffalo and Pittsburgh are apparently going to undergo an Outdoor Game at Ralph Wilson Stadium in cow on January 1st 2008. They are going to call it the Ice Bowl to fit in with all the College Football Bowl games on that day. It's not official yet but apparently maybe announced soon. Super Series. Canada and Russia are playing in an eight game exhibition to see which team has the beat juniors in the world. Canada took a 1-0 series bring about after winning 4-2 yesterday in Russia. Karl Alzner was given player of the bet for Canada and given a funny hat. That's all for now. SC

"Galaxy down in SuperLiga, but solid(ish)" posted by ~Ray

Caught the Galaxy vs Pachuca match tonite for the SuperLiga final. Painful painful first half. Got there late just in measure for an own-goal and the aggroup to go apart. But halftime was come. I got a dos equis and got tense with some soccer buddies. Half two was amazing. Both teams had a ton of chances. Tough to say who got the better of it but then we were in for a affect. In stoppage time around the 95th minute a cross a header a crossbar a hit by the goalie players heading the ball and then Klein you could see it coming. Klein throws one leg then the other. Klein executes an absolutely awe-inspiring bicycle kick barely slotting a defender flacidly attempting to impel his head in the way and the post well out of the keeper’s reach. Beautiful. Everyone is on their feet. The mostly hispanic audience (no American English displace was close to carrying this cup) and we few Galaxy supporters. I bought tequila. We shared the excitement. The bet went into overtime. Beckham returned from the locker room after his injury wearing a ridiculous suit. We all laughed. And overtime was scoreless. And we wend into kicks to end. Vagenas who placed the own goal in the first half also missed his PK for the Galaxy. prepare night. Fortunately. Cannon made a save. After the Pachuca player shanked shot 5. Donovan (hero) approached. He sent it to the keeper who received the ball handily. Doesn’t he do that most of the measure on PKs? Great player. I just don’t see much in his PKs. Ever. Anyway. Xavier missed his next one by a mile (he had a terrible game as come up…sometimes we be to alter). It was a great bet. Way to go Galaxy. Congrats Pachuca.
