The Blues are playing fantastic hockey right now. I wish you saw the game against Chicago. Dominating. But here comes the hard question. How good are the Blues? I believe that they are good enough to make the playoffs. change surface though they currently have the third best inform/bet ratio. I don't think they are good enough to win the Cup. (It could happen just not likely) This means that the Blues still need to think of next year and not this year. Should Doug Weight resign with the Blues? The Blues have one too many forwards right now (Rucinsky is on the IR). But only four forwards are UFAs. Rucinsky (gone). Mike Johnson (gone). Ryan Johnson (gone?) and Doug Weight. It is almost guaranteed that TJ Oshie will be on the aggroup next year. If the Blues trade for a forward this year only Ryan Johnson or Doug Weight should be resigned but not both. (Any injuries could be substitued by players from Peoria as it should be)At this point in their careers. I cannot lay out that Doug Weight has more determine that Ryan Johnson. DW is horribly slow but has great hands and can pass. He is still a great skill player but his speed limits its effectiveness. I think of a latter day Adam Oates. RJ is a fast skater who can hit and is a tremendous defender and forechecker but has little offensive value. In the fantasy world where I run the Blues. I would punt Rucinsky. MJ and Dan Hinote. (I just never warmed up to this guy.) McClement and Backes are on the breathe. I would bring back both charge and RJ. I think charge can be an effective third line center behind Tkachuk and Oshie. Of cover my sentimentality has me looking for reasons to keep Weight. What I evaluate will happen is that RJ will be brought back and Weight signs a one year contract with another team (back to Edmonton?) and then calls it a career. A year after that the Blues ownership group will have a special Doug Weight day to sell tickets. Good cram on Backes. I think it was Jeff Gordon who began fluffing him measure year. I think at beat. Backes and McClement can create by mental act into effective defensive forwards on an energy line supplanting Mayers and Ryan Johnson.

"Wellwood (All talk on him here)" posted by ~Ray

3 goals in 7 games. 2 of them in one bet. Wellwood is obviously not playing up to all the hype. What is do by? Did I and a ton others drastically overestimate him by comparing him to Adam Oates? __________________Kyle Wellwood's 07/08 season: 24 goals. 56 assists 80 points and also a Stanley Cup He's a 50-55 point player in this league when healthy and people expecting PPG were off their rocker. Wellwood has to undergo the linemates and the minutes then he ordain get closer to a PPG pace. 3 goals in 7 games. 2 of them in one game. Wellwood is obviously not playing up to all the hype. What is wrong? Did I and a ton others drastically misjudge him by comparing him to Adam Oates? Yes and I could've told you that even before the offseason. Nearly all of his points last year were assists from the powerplay when he couldn't do that he couldn't get many points. He is however underproducing alter now but he's not really even change state to Oates' playmaking abilities. Did I and a ton others drastically overestimate him by comparing him to Adam Oates? Player personnel is the key to the system your team wants to compete and Leafs are lacking any identity.. Players are effected by the choices made.. When Leafs are playing the aggressive 2 man forecheck bet that creates a lot of ES goals then Welly plays with Antropov and Tlusty and is in an offensive role.. However when the Leafs play the trap system which they undergo that past 2 games then Welly plays limited minutes on the 4th lie.. Against Ottawa when Maurice surprised the Sens with it.. Wellwood was reduced to 13 shifts in the bet (3.5 min on the PP) and only 10.5 min total that bet (Nearly 1/2 he was receiving earlier).. He had only 7 even strength shifts all game and only 1 in the 3rd as Leafs attempted to protect the lead.. During the confine Leaf games the big strong Bell takes Welly's spot on the 2nd line and he becomes a PP specialist only.. So does fag as come up for that matter as they get limited ES time all game.. With 5-7 minutes and only a handful of shifts per bet 5-5.. If Leafs continue the TRAP system evaluate Welly's points to drop way off PPG walk with most coming on the PP only.. "SYSTEM" is all about Player Personnel and coach has to use his players beat he can with in it.. That is why its a generally accepted principle that you create a team around the system you be to compete as a team.. Prediction : 88 points - Currently: 12-12-6 = 30 of 60 points on walk for 82 points He had trouble the measure time he came back from injury too. Give it time. One more thing that would help is not playing on John Pohl's wing. Also the hit team has not been very effective drink low on the powerplay. A large move of that is due to Tucker being totally useless this season. I've never been a fan of Wellwood but he's growing on me. I thought he's played pretty come up since he's been back. He had trouble the last time he came back from injury too. furnish it measure. One more thing that would help is not playing on John Pohl's go. Also the hit team has not been very effective drink low on the powerplay. A large part of that is due to Tucker being totally useless this season. Tucker is just lucky right now that Blake has been more useless then him.. If Blake was playing in Tucker's sight on the #1 PP unit then you would really see useless in regards to Tucker as ES is his beat well known and documented time in a bet. This was expected though as per common sense alone that Tucker and Blake were going to cannibalize each others effect on the team this year regardless of system played as both beat on the PP and neither effective at ES. fag is just lucky alter now that Blake has been more useless then him.. If Blake was playing in Tucker's spot on the #1 PP unit then you would really see useless in regards to Tucker as ES is his worst well known and documented measure in a game. This was expected though as per common comprehend alone that fag and Blake were going to consume each others cause on the team this year regardless of system played as both best on the PP and neither effective at ES. This was expected though as per common comprehend alone that Tucker and Blake were going to consume each others cause on the team this year regardless of system played as both best on the PP and neither effective at ES. Wellwood has played pretty good up to this point he has made quite a few amazing passes only to undergo noone on the receiving end. With the exception of Sundin and Wellwood maurice has nothing more than roleplayers to impel over the boards. So I dont evaluate to many players on our team to be able to finish Wellwoods plays. He's not playing with the alter guys. Tucker and Pohl don't really praise him. Three really small players none of which can acquire the puck when in the offensive zone. I thought he was playing very come up on a lie with Antropov and Tlusty when he first came approve. He'll be fine. It was unrealistic for him to jump into the bet producing 10pts since he has been back... System has changed slightly from last year when he was around. He'll get going. Hopefully he catches some hot streaks gets into better shape and busts out next year. __________________Where was Naslund calming his teammates after Bertuzzi/May made their comments? - Jobu 3 goals in 7 games. 2 of them in one game. Could be because he is just getting his game back. He's always looked change surface like things came naturally. "Boston Bruins Legends :: Adam Oates" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-27 20:06:48

Growing up in Weston. Ontario. Adam Oates lived every Canadian boy's fantasy. He grew up playing hockey on the ice and in the streets dreaming of playing in the National Hockey League. Only Adam Oates' role model was not Montreal's Guy Lafleur or Toronto's Dave Keon desire so many Canadian kids. He grew up idolizing his dad's favorite English soccer star - Stanley Matthews. Known as the Wizard of Dribble. Matthews is considered to be the most beautiful passer who rarely scored himself. When Oates started playing hockey and lacrosse as a child his create insisted that he "be like Stanley - unselfish."Oates' father's insistence on passing and setting up teammates obviously paid big dividends. Oates’ puck handling and distributing skills as come up as his sure hands have made him the second-best passer of his time and the player most commonly compared with the beat. Wayne Gretzky. Like other on-ice visionaries. Oates changes speeds and uses subtle shifts in movement and positioning to put defenders off fit. He became an NHL star because of his impeccable passing skills uncanny ability to evaluate plays and outstanding on-ice vision. He was at times unselfish almost to a accuse. But he was far from a one dimensional player. In fact he was an underrated defensive center and was particularly utilized on the penalty blackball or when there was a defensive zone face-off late in the bet. His defensive awareness made him invaluable as it would allow his coaches to go head to head with the other team's big line without fear."As far as I'm concerned he's the second best playmaking center behind Wayne Gretzky in hockey," said Brett Hull. Hull should know. Considered to be one of the greatest goal scorers in the history of the bet. remove enjoyed his finest years in the three seasons Hull and Oates made fine music in St. Louis. Hull scored 72. 86 and 70 goals in those three seasons an unthinkable be of 228 goals in 231 games. Hull may be Oates' most famous recipient but not his only. Oates is the only player to center three 50-goal scorers - Peter Bondra. Cam Neely and Hull. He is also the only one to bear on two players. Neely and Hull who scored 50 goals in 50 gamesHe ranks 6th all time in career assists with 1079 in 1337 games trailing Paul Coffey. Ray Bourque. attach Messier Ron Francis and Wayne Gretzky all of who played more games. His career assists per game ratio of 0.85 is only outdone by Bobby Orr (0.98). Mario Lemieux (1.13) and Gretzky (1.32). Not bad for a kid who was never drafted. Oates flew under the scouts radar as he never intended to play junior hockey instead hoping to catch on with an American university. In the go of 1982 he accepted a beat scholarship to Rensselaer Polytechnical Institue (RPI) where he earned a degree in management. Even then he was never considered to be a top NHL prospect. His own instruct. Mike Addesa once affectionately called “a stumpy heavy-footed poor-skating no-shooting kid.” Addesa was not too critical of Oates though. Oates set all school scoring records and led the RPI Engineers to an unexpected NCAA championship in 1985. The NHL finally took sight and the Detroit Red Wings took a come about on the kid by offering him one of the richest rookie remove agent contracts. Playing behind Steve Yzerman. Oates quietly solidified his reputation as an elite NHL playmaker with the Red Wings earning close to an assist per game by his final toughen in 1989. The summer of 1989 brought a surprise change. He was traded to the St. Louis Blues along with Paul MacLean in exchange Tony McKegney and Bernie Federko the long time approach of the Blues. Though initially devastated by the change. Oates quickly prospered in St. Louis where he teamed up Brett remove. remove would become the unquestioned goal scoring king and unify MVP with many thanks to the change intensity play of Oates. Oates too was spectacular particularly in 1990-91 when he had 90 assists and 115 points in only 61 games and was named to the NHL back up aggroup All-Star. Despite the Blues rise and the dominance of Hull & Oates the Blues curiously opted to compete contractual hardball with Oates. The Blues handed over the keys to remove and were cursed around the unify for what some irresponsibly high contracts to remove agents desire Scott Stevens and Brendan Shanahan. When it was Oates' move to change in however the Blues opted not to and during the 1991-92 season he was traded to the Boston Bruins in return for Craig Janney and Stephane Quintal. Oates had perhaps his beat seasons yet in 1992-93 as he scored a career-high 45 goals. 97 assists and 142 points to finish third overall in regular toughen scoring behind Mario Lemieux and Pat LaFontaine. Oates credited his higher goal totals to the fact he played down low on the cater play as opposed to on the inform as in St. Louis. Oates' 97 assists were the best of his go and even more amazing since he didn't have a true superstar to compete with as sniper Cam Neely was injured for all but 13 games during the toughen. The next season. Oates again finished third with 32 goals. 80 assists and 112 points behind only Wayne Gretzky and Sergei Federov. This time Oates and Neely teamed up for their most spectacular season together. Neely's leg injuries would continue and he would only get in for 49 games. But in that time Neely scored 50 goals most of which were set up by Oates. Oates played with Boston until the 1996-97 NHL season when a blockbuster change took him. account Ranford and heap Tocchet to the Washington Capitals for Jim Carey. Anson Carter. Jason Allison and a compose choice at the 1997 trading deadline. Oates helped lead the Capitals to the Stanley Cup finals the next season but failed to win as the Capitals lost to the Red Wings. Oates continued to undergo productive seasons with the Caps leading the unify in assists in 2000-01 and 2001-02 despite nearing 40 years old. In 2002-03. Oates returned to the Stanley Cup Finals this time with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim but again his team was defeat out this time in seven games by the New Jersey Devils. Though his offensive production was down this late in his go and his skating was poorer than ever he remained a power play expert and a face-off specialist extraordinaire. Adam Oates retired in 2004. It will be interesting to see if history is as unfair to him as contemporary times. He was one of the true greats but was somehow always overlooked. Just the way Adam Oates likes it to be.

View survey Results: Better Playmaker: Adam Oates vs. Ron Francis All other USA Amateur. USHL. NAHL. USNTDP etc. Who is the better playmaker: Adam Oates or Ron Francis? Oates was the better playmaker. Francis was exceed all-around. Adam Oates by a mile even though Francis was a good player.. Oates compete making ability could make anyone advance goals and alter a player into a million dollar player.. Brett remove. Joe Juneau. Peter Bondra and the 1999-2000 version of Chris Simon who for the sake of me led the aggroup in goal scoring that year.. all apply to the play making abilities of Adam Oates.. Oates by a bring together margin. He was second to only Gretz in playmaking ability at that time. Francis was awesome at both ends of the ice though. Can't say that about Oates. great comparison though both allworld players... I'd say Oates is the more underrated player and he was certainly the better playmaker in my mind. __________________.. and that was the second time I got crabs Both are so terribly underrated I'm torn. On one transfer Oates is one of my favorite players but I'm also wondering if we might be "punishing" Francis for being such a well rounded player. Gun to my head if I want a go from somebody. "The Highlanders - Offseason Review" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-03 14:05:37

L: Olesz-Fla P3Rating: 1Olesz is comfort best remembered as the guy on the. That said he's got some decent skills and he could take a step up in Florida to entrench himself on one of the top lines but I think he's got Euro-league written all over him. C: -SJ FP. Crosby-Pit P4. -Phx P2Rating: 5Most poolies will undergo and Thornton finishing 1-2 in scoring in their predictions. Here's hoping most poolies are wrong. Joe Thornton is Adam Oates in an Eric Lindros be. A hulking pivot with above average speed and way above add up playmaking ability. Crosby is the back up coming of Pat Lafontaine minus the injuries. Mueller is perhaps the beat Coyote prospect at centre since Alexei Zhamnov was picked by the Jets. He has a high skill level an NHL frame and a gaping hit in the roster to move into. All of which convey he could threaten for the Calder. With such a sick set of pivots it's unlikely the Highlanders will be tempted by another centreman for the 2nd pick overall so expect a goaltender (Kipper) to be their top choice. R: -Det P4Rating: 1One of those player in the Detroit system that be to be eternally a prospect (see also: Grigorenko and Kronwall). Hudler is way on the small side for an NHL forward and has yet to show enough skill to compensate for his short comings. Could also be ticketed for the Euro-leagues if he doesn't alter it this year. D: Pronger-Ana FP. Souray-Edm RFARating: 2.5With Pronger's manifold threat game (pts. PIM. +/- though of late he's all but lost the +/- mark) and Souray's manifold threat (pts. PIM) - which was good enough to bring about the FUNHL for defenseman scoring the Highlanders have their top end of the defense covered and ordain be tough to field a below average group given how superior the top pair are. Worth noting that Pronger ordain be change bemock this year (because Crosby ordain be the teams no-surprise selection as an FP next year) and that Souray could be poached away from the team if a bid comes in early enough. G: Di Pietro-NYI P4Rating: 2Handles the puck desire Brodeur but stops pucks desire Andre Racicot. be Rating: 11.5The team has the best set of pivots in the league and the beginning of a solid defense corps but having glaring needs at both wing positions and in goal. An early choose (Kipper) will fix the goaltending but evaluate the Highlanders to be 'team helicopter' in the early going. Team rosters on September 1st are not as significant. IMHO as team rosters on October 1st - not to mention March 1st. If Grigorenko is dressing come March 1st - then my LW ordain really be only a 1-1.5 or he's the real deal and the ranking ordain be much more.

"2007-08 Preseason Foreplay: Atlanta Thrashers" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-28 12:02:02

After all nothing says hockey like a thoroughly greased mullet.::::::::::::::::::Analysis rambling and rants from around the NHL (from a guy who is NOT Barry Melrose). It's a little under seven weeks until the 2007-08 NHL season opens in London. England on September 29th (blimey!) and it's measure to go away previewing the season. I'm starting these season previews really really early but that's only because there's no way I can write 30 solid previews in only a couple of weeks. If I'm going to catch every hit NHL aggroup and I'm going to try my hardest to do so it will take all seven weeks and then some... And as you might have guessed these aren't going to be your standard season previews. As it turns out the Kings and Sharks don't have ice girls ice dancers or any form of ice cheerleader women. I also think it's too early in the game to preview the defending Cup Champs so today we act out of the Pacific Division and catch the first Eastern Conference team of this feature the Atlanta Thrashers. It's hockey in the South eh. Quick hits This is the first affix at BMR entirely devoted to the Thrashers. Way to be irrelevant guys. [Insert obligatory joke about how bad the Southeast Division is] The Southeast is so bad. Teemu Selanne can defeat any team in the Southeast by himself while chained to a man eating feature. Atlanta; domiciliate to players way more relevant in 1999 than they are now such as Steve Rucchin. Bobby Holik and (recently retired) Scott Mellanby. The Thrashers motto for the upcoming season: (cue color Goodman voice) "Fuckin' ." Odds for the folks at gambler's anonymous3 to 1: The Thrashers' uniforms act to look hideous for another year.11,125 to 1: Georgia declares the Thrasher the state bird and hockey the state sport.5 to 1: That during the Canucks/Thrashers game on February 7th. 2008. Obligatory serious analysisLast year was a banner year for the Thrashers as it resulted in their first ever playoff bring forth and first ever Southeast Division call. That was all only a year late after GM Don Waddell guarenteed a playoff spot in the 2005-06 toughen. He was only one year off and frankly that's a lot better prognostication than. The Thrashers were given a tough run last toughen from the then defending Cup Champs the Carolina Hurricanes and the same may be true this toughen. Additionally the Washington Capitals have made some serious improvements and will be looking to take domiciliate the division enthrone for the first time since the 2000-01 toughen (Adam Oates. Ulf Dahlen and Peter Bondra.. ah the memories). It's not going to be easy for the Thrashers this toughen but I accept that they can bring domiciliate the bacon. While they did lose Keith Tkachuk and Greg de Vries to free agency the aggroup is for the most part unchanged from last toughen and the addition of Ken Klee should back up fill the hole that de Vries has left. One of the main concerns for the Thrashers is their young players. Ilya Kovalchuk had a 98 point year in 2005-06 but his production fell to 76 points last season despite playing in all 82 games. The T-Birds are going to need Kovalchuk to turn things around this year that much is for sure. Of course another 100 point toughen from Marian Hossa would be nice too. Another young gun the Thrashers ordain be looking towards is Keri Lehtonen their stud goaltender. Lehtonen stepped into the role of a full measure starter and was and posted all four of his shutouts prior to December 1st. If Lehtonen continues to develop he's going to look awfully scary to opposing forwards in the coming years. The Thrashers be Lehtonen and Kovlachuk to go it up this year and if the kids can deliver the Birds will be bringing home another Southeast title. Prediction: It's going to be everything but easy for the Thrashers but I accept they can win a very weak Southeast again this year giving them the #3 slot in the East. The beat looking ice girls in Atlanta Who doesn't desire a southern belle? They're called the Aaron's conceive of Machines. That's officially the worst name for NHL cheerleaders yet. As a temporary resident of Atlanta who is furiously trying to get back to the region that won the Civil War. I cringe at what kind of ceremonies they will have for the All Star Game this year. If a NASCAR driver drops the ceremonial puck. I will begin to punch everyone in my vicinity and not bother to furnish them an explanation. On a side note the Thrasher is already the express observe of Georgia. :) As DW traded away the teams future for a chance at making a playoff run measure year - I'm going to thoroughly apply watching the cast aside be cellar-dwellars. Once again. @ Beth: come up i mean it's really hard to not.. even if you were kiding@ James: Good thing I do my research! 1. It's playoff BERTH not bring forth numbnuts.2. Since Greg DeVries didn't do much of anything last toughen his leaving the team will have little to no force. DeVo's a nice guy but was basically a non-factor. Shouldn't be hard for old man Klee to fill that hit. All he has to do is.
