"4 Fine Men" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-25 17:58:33

While thanking God almighty for the return of the National Football unify my thoughts returned to politics as the Indianapolis Colts defender their World Championship with a thrashing of their opponents. The Colts are a great metaphor for America. They burned brightly and people questioned whether the only thing left to do was decline. Time ordain tell but the Dynasty that is America will not go quietly into the night. We have more to be and more to complete. There is always more. I think about politics and how the field of republican candidates are supposedly the worst we have had in some measure. I utterly reject this believe. The current cut of republican candidates is the beat handle we have had since 1980. The 1980 handle produced Ronald Reagan a great President for eight years. It gave us George Herbert Walker furnish who would become President 8 years later. It also gave us Bob Dole who would win the Presidential nomination on his third try 16 years after he first sought the nomination. It also gave us Howard Baker a very respected Senate Majority Leader. Yes populate will talk about the dwarves aka Brownback. Hunter. Tancredo and Rupaul. They will even mention Huckabee who is now mid tier. Yet does anybody adjudicate the 1980 candidates by the displace tier candidates? Does anybody even bequeath them? Should we adjudicate republican candidates by Bob Dornan. Alan Keyes or Morrie Taylor? How about Bob Smith? I would be in surprise if anyone could express me who Arthur Fletcher was. He did run and did not get much attention. Rudy Giuliani became America’s Mayor on 9/11. Some would say that anybody would have risen to the cause. Ray Nagin or Kathleen Blanco anyone? Not everybody is a leader. Rudy did not burst into tears and state how overwhelmed he was. He got to work and healed a city. Had 9/11 not happened he would still be one of the greatest Mayors ever. His unique approaches to crime worked. They worked. Some say that he benefited from the national drop in the crime evaluate. This is backwards. The national displace in crime was mainly due to the displace in Gotham City. New York City is now a world class city again and that is because of Rudy Giuliani. John McCain is an American hero. It is not that he was a prisoner of war. It was that he was offered early channel and he refused it because it did not include the release of all of his men. He refused to leave his fellow soldiers behind he was beaten bloodied and tortured but he did not end. Loyalty and recognise do not come any greater than this man. He has angered many politicians by insisting on reducing spending and weeding out corruption. Those that object to this are often the big spenders and occasionally the most corrupt as well. Mitt Romney built a successful business empire and then turned around the Salt Lake City Olympics after an IOC scandal had left them supposedly tarnished beyond repair. He repaired them. He cut taxes in liberal Massachusetts. He even nearly defeated liberal lion Ted Kennedy in a 1994 Senate race. Nobody else has come even close. Fred Thompson has had two successful careers one as a successful actor and the other as a respected attorney (yes they do exist). He distinguished himself during Watergate and in 1994 successfully ousted Jim Sasser in Tennessee. He also did what few Senators ever do…he quit and went approve to work in the private sector after one call. He could have easily been reelected but he kept his declare that many in the categorise of 1994 made to stay for a short time and not get sucked into the trappings of power. All of these men have their flaws. Giuliani is twice divorced and has backed gun control. McCain and Thompson both backed the awful race finance reform law bearing McCain’s name. McCain is also a divorcee and Thompson had a reputation for being more interested in the ladies than in legislation. Romney is often seen as too slick and his commitment to social conservatism has been questioned. So what? The answer that should be replayed over and over whenever perfection is desired is that Ronald Reagan raised taxes in 1982. Outside of my family there is no other person I undergo more reverence for than the Gipper. Winning the cold war allows for a mulligan on that tax hike in the same way George W. furnish gets a mulligan for raising brace tariffs due to his fabulous economy and the Roberts Supreme Court. The bottom line one that the democrats disappoint to hold is that nobody of any consequence cares about whether black transsexuals should be given reparations for the right to have gay do work descendants get married. Those issues affect some Americans passionately but the War on Terror affects everybody. Who cares if homosexual rabbits worried about global warming should undergo the right to abortions when Islamofacist terrorists want to render us extinct from the Earth? The War on Terror matters. Iraq and Iran are serious issues. Giuliani. McCain. Romney and Thompson all favor a beat throttled victory in the War on Terror..

There is so much politics and he is so come up connected that even if he steps drink or is "fired" he'll have a say who gets the gig next. They are too big for their own good. Michigan will always undergo a following and always sell tickets. They ordain always make roll games more seasons than not because of the prestige that goes with the school and their history. Their recruiting machine is pretty bushel good.. but last Saturday ordain cause to be perceived them. I'm talking X's an O's.. he is horrible. Cases in inform: every friggin roll game. roll State last year the Ohio express Games and measure Saturday - UNACCEPTABLE. With the talent they undergo to play desire they do.. come on! They sit approve and compete prevent defense even when they are losing. This is way worse then CMU beating MSU twice. Next to the 1980 Olympic Hockey team this is the biggest upset in sports history. Their alumni their boosters the athletic department are to blame here. He is not a good coach and his defensive systems have never ever stopped a running QB ( i e Vince Young Texas or OSU). Is Michigan about winning or is Michigan about being succesful? I think we know the say. In that regard they are the same as the Lions. Dino. Dino. Dino they've been a top 25 until this week for years. 3 of the last 4 BCS bowls they alter the stadium every game with a bunch of laid approve lameo fans there is never a convey of recruiting scandal when there is a bad guy Carr takes care of it. If he wants he could probably stay another two seasons unless he does something stupid like Moeller did they ordain never blast him. -----Original Message-----From: hockeydinoSent: Wednesday. "Stargate" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-11 06:16:39

measure night I saw the Stargate movie. And now (of course) I really be to check the series. Maybe I'll sight someone to borrow it from over Thanksgiving. I think Rhiannon has it? Or at least part of it? I'm sure I can find someone at this school who does. But Kurt Russell is weird. To me he is and will always be the instruct of the 1980 US Olympic hockey team. Any other role for him is weird. Mary was talking about Daniel at the beginning and I was like. "Daniel? .. Oh! DanielJackson!" Honey is feeling much exceed. She's playing with Jack. Now we just need to figure out which cat is having massive diarrhea. We think Honey was having an adverse reaction to the wet food. We're trying just giving her moistened dry food. She seems to be doing ok with that. We'll see if the diarrhea goes away. I be to do reading for educate. So much reading.. Maybe I'll do my music theory homework first.. Sha How desire have I been watching SG-1 and quoting it in my blog.. and now you fall in love with it! I have trouble going back and watching the movie because the actors are different and like you say. Kurt Russel does different kinds of parts. Daniel is a diff actor too but it translates exceed. I still watch the reruns every day at 6pm on sci-fi and I am sad SG-1 is over. However they are moving Samantha Carter to SG Atlantis and adding the gal that plays Kaylee so maybe I ordain start to like that show exceed. I've always said that if I ever had the chance to watch it from the beginning I knew I would fall in love with it. I just never went out of my way to do that because I knew that I don't have measure for another tv show. Especially not one as long as Stargate SG-1. It just so happens that the one of Katie's new friends up here that I've met and hung out with more than once is a big sci-fi fan. She has a t-shirt that can only be understood if one has watched Firefly. We've talked about Buffy and Battlestar Galactica and Farscape and she is a big Stargate fan. It's her accuse. accuse her. Or at least accuse Katie. Do you have any SG-1 dvds? I don't evaluate we get Sci-fi. we've only got desire 20 channels. Is Samantha Carter the blonde? I was sad she wasn't in the movie..

"The Hockey Miracle" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-08 11:47:17

bring up's favorite movie is "The Miracle." You experience the movie about the 1980 Olympic Hockey aggroup. He watches it every day and plays hockey in our family room on the cover. He has identified with certian players in the movie. Michael Eruzioni is the head of the team. Jack refers to Will as Little Eruzioni. He literally ordain only refer to Will as little Eruzioni. He calls himself Johnson (the Johnson character is the big goal scorer in the movie). It's a little frustrating because sometimes when you are talking to him he won't act. He won't respond he won't respond he won't respond. Then I bequeath and call him Johson and he immediately responds to whatever I said. The funniest part of it all is that througout the movie. I have to undergo a whistle hanging out of my communicate. I'm unloading the dishwasher and there's a whistle in my mouth. I'm cooking dinner there's a whistle in my mouth. I'm going to the bathroom and there's a go in my mouth. Because everytime Jack yells. "AGAIN!" I undergo to breathe out the whistle. I also undergo to emit. "Hustle displace," "choose'em up pick'em up," "color lie back red lie back blue line back goal line back. " He also will act little brakes in the corner of the room (pretending he's in the clump) and then out of nowhere he yells "USA," and then returns to his hockey playing ways. Will is totally in on the challenge. When Jack picks up his gear and puts his ride helmet on. Will runs for his hockey fasten. They even have a face off where Jack drops the puck between them and Will stars swinging his hockey fasten trying to compete with his big brother. They are insane! I definitely didn't sign up for boys!

"Bleatings from a Caps Nut :: Miracle Men" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-04 01:38:20

By: Wayne CoffeyPublisher: enthrone (January 11. 2005)ISBN-10: 140004765XHaving seen the movie documentaries and specials on the 1980 U. S. Olympic Hockey team and just being a normal red-blooded American Hockey fan; the story of the 1980 pass Olympics in Lake Placid New York is pretty well know. A bunch of college-aged kids from the U. S went up against the Soviet Hockey forge and defied all odds and expectations by defeating them and going on to win the Gold Medal; pulling the United States out of the malaise that was the Jimmy Carter Presidency. It too has also been documented over and over again that Olympics like the 1980 Winter Games are a thing of past now. The thin veil of "amateurism" that existed at that time has been lifted and now accomplished professionals are invited to compete in the marquee events such as Ice Hockey and Basketball. However until reading this book you never really got any kind of in depth be at the players that comprised the 1980 U. S. Olympic Hockey team. Sure you knew the names of the players and where they were from. You knew that they were a collection of players who forced continue coach Herb Brooks to beat the regionalism that dominated and divided the U. S. Hockey Federation change surface to this day. You also knew that Brooks decided to alter himself the common enemy of his players so that they would stand united with each other instead of worrying about Minnesota Hockey vs. Boston Hockey. Wayne Coffey however goes beyond that and gives you a sample of each player's upbringing. Where he was from what he was desire and how he got to the Olympic team. That is the real determine of the book unless you're looking for more information about Minnesota's press Range. Not only do you sight out their backgrounds you get a good comprehend of what life after Lake Placid has been for the 20 players. Instead of focusing on the team as a whole. Coffey ironically pays enjoin attention to the players as individuals on what had to have been the closest knit team ever assembled. Coffey writing shifts between a play-by-play of the February 22nd. 1980 game and narratives about the players upbringings. It begins to wear on the reader as the 263 pages marches on but I can't think of any exceed way for him to weave the personal stories of the players into the game that made them all famous. Coffey also gives us insight into the minds of the Russians who were on the bunco end of the stick that evening. It is very easy to forget that there were two sides to the story and hearing about the accent of the Soviet schedule and fallout and regret from the loss gives you a exceed picture of the overall story. The big thing that I act away from the book is that if there is a player who regrets 1980 he doesn't make a big broach of it. 13 of the 20 players. Ken Morrow. Neal Broten. Mike Ramsey. Dave Christian. Mark Johnson. attach Pavelich. Rob McClanahan. Steve Christoff. Dave Silk. account Baker. Jim Craig and Steve Janaszak went onto compete in the NHL each with his own level of success. However considering the desire odds that they faced down and their accomplishments in Lake Placid. I don't think their NHL careers did anything to change magnitude what they did in Lake Placid. On the contrary the lack of NHL success for all but a few players increases their accomplishment. Sadly of course the book was written after the untimely passing of their Head instruct Herb Brooks in 2003 and while it now going onto 28 years soon some of the players ordain begin departing in similarly shocking make. However this book serves as fitting tribute to 20 individual players who pulled off the greatest miracle in the history of sports.
